would've posted earlier but lunch wasn't long enough, also liking the new look.

Spoiler:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 81d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Adriala said to bot if necessary so I will, she can join back in if she wants to future rounds

Adriala is going to cast a Bull's strength and move up next to the Mephit

Samias is going to move up and fire 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 121d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 and miss

the mephit will full attack Adriala and miss both attacks

it is standing on the ground at the moment

Round 2

Draalûsh moves up and attacks the mephit, which has been obliging enough to stay on the ground:

Hashik claps then rubs his hands together.

”A chest, anyone know how to check for traps? Let’s search this whole damn cave and all the carts outside as well. There has got to be some loot—Oh, and let me know if you find any decent clothes.”

His eyes wander the area.

"I don't know how to open locks without a key."
"Or a hammer in a pinch."
"But might as well see if there's any magic here."

Draalûsh will then cast a spell on the chest: « جادو کا پتہ لگانا » . . "detect magic", in kelish

it is a completely unmagical wooden box with an iron lock and frame

the wood even seems to be dried out to an absurd degree, and you can see something shiny through a crack

there are no traps, but there is some sand leaking through the ceiling.

for clothing there is a bright yellow dress with green silk trim hanging on the wall. human size

as for outside, the caravan leader is greedily laughing and rummaging through one of the wagons in particular with several of the guards patrolling around.

one of the guards asks, "is it dead?"

Hashik steps outside.

"The one inside is slain. I suppose your company could use some of these wagons and equipment. We will obviously be taking at least one and looking through the contents of the others. Perhaps there are trade goods to sell."

Dipolmacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Hashik whispers to Draalush.

"Check for magic quickly."

Male Human Magus (inactive)

Draalûsh will approach the wagon with Hashik and tries cast a spell as they approach:
« جادو وګوره » . . "detect magic", in osiriani
spell failure (5%): 1d100 ⇒ 4 ... I keep forgetting about this! Good thing it's not a 'big' spell!

Draalûsh will then whisper to Hashik: "Damn! Couldn't quite get it with this armour on. Shall I give it a go again?"

Whats the caravan leader up to?

His eyes scan the area.

perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

the caravan leader is cackling madly with greed and having guards and drivers move paintings from the wagon to an empty wagon from the caravan, nothing else of note going on.

there's some weak magical items in one of the wagons, but it has caravan guards on it and not one is over caster level 3.

what are you all doing with the chest full of shiny things?

Male Human Magus (inactive)

Draalûsh will will try casting the same spell again as they near the wagons:
« جادو وګوره » . . "detect magic", in osiriani
spell failure (5%): 1d100 ⇒ 99

spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 ... if needed

Draalûsh then whispers to Hashik: "We don't need to tell them what we found in the cave, do we?"

Seeing that things can be sorted out later, Hashik goes right into the cave and opens the chest.

”Look, we are going to load this stuff on our persons and go outside and claim some other stuff off of a cart. We aren’t gonna leave empty handed.”

”Anyone here have appraisal skills?”

you come back into the cave to see that Samias has opened the chest with gold shining out of it

Karla says "it's a crapload of gold and platinum, what's there to appraise? didya want to count it here and now?"

Samias and Adriala will heft it up and start towards the entrance.

”No we can count it later. Let’s keep the platinum hidden if we can. I’m worried treasure will make the others turn on us. Draalush is checking for magic items outside.”

Hashik grabs the dress and throws it over the top of the chest.

the caravan is all coming to circle around the hill.

when you all get back outside the caravan leader is yelling out of the back of one of the wagons "In addition, we have gathered enough fine quality trade goods and art here, that once we sell everything in the city, everyone present on this trip shall receive a 200 gold bonus!!"

at this the crowd just goes absolutely nuts. cheering goes on. someone is starting to organize a bonfire. alcohol is being passed around to everyone not on duty, and people start dancing before your eyes.

no one notices you.

Ifrit bard 5 CN Init +5 AC 18, touch 16, flat-footed 12 hp 31/40 Fort +3, Ref +9, Will +4; +4 vs. bardic performance, language-dependent, and sonic Resist fire 5, Perception +8 Sense Motive +7

”Draalush. Get the magic items out of the wagon if you can or I can do it under disguise. Let’s load our chest in our wagon. I am going to have Samias help me find one that doesn’t stand out that we can take for our own. We don’t want to be accused of being bandits in town.”

Male Human Magus (inactive)

"You're doubtless stealthier than I, Hashik."
"And better at disguise, of course."
"Just let me get closer to that cart to get a bead on the magic there."

Nearing the newfound wagon, Draalûsh will cast his spell on it again: « جادو وګوره » . . "detect magic", in osiriani
spell failure (5%): 1d100 ⇒ 24

Then he'll try to study it as long as he can to get an idea of where and what the items might be:
spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

He'll also try acting all nonchalant like.
Just to avoid anyone giving him a second glance:
bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

He'll then pass on everything he can figure out to Hashik.
Who can do a better job of getting hold of that magic gear than Draalûsh could...

while you do so Draalush, one of the woman drivers comes along and shoves a drink in your hands and says "Hey there guy, you look very well traveled. could you come along and tell us a story?"

Hashik I'll assume you are hanging out by the party's cart. along with everyone else.

the fire is lit, and people are going to start to party now

Ifrit bard 5 CN Init +5 AC 18, touch 16, flat-footed 12 hp 31/40 Fort +3, Ref +9, Will +4; +4 vs. bardic performance, language-dependent, and sonic Resist fire 5, Perception +8 Sense Motive +7

Hashik’s suspicious nature has the best of him, spiced with a bit of resentment towards the caravan leader who, first, determined they would not be paid as promised, then, loaded up the spoils of their hard work. No, in Hashik’s experience, money caused the knives to come out. He was going to make sure there wouldn’t be one in his back, and besides, here was his chance to get out of this hellhole.

”Samias, Karla keep an eye on things for a moment. I need to take a whiz.”

He grabs a drink and pretends to be taking part in the merriment.

But he slips away to meld with the shadows, his clothing and body shift to look like one a nondescript human caravan guard.

Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

He moves to the wagon in an attempt to locate the valuable magic items and other small things of value.

Male Human Magus (inactive)

Hoping that he's bought time for Hashik to do his stealthy item foraging, Draalûsh will go along with the woman driver...

@ DM_Smiles:
Draalûsh will sort of join in on the merriment.
He's trying to be a decoy for Hashik.
There for he will avoid drinking much, but try to fake indulging:
bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 ... (to fake boozing it up)

She looks at the woman and says, I know a story or two. But how about you start.

Spoiler:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Hashik there are 2 guards on the wagon with the magic items. they acknowledge you

Draalush and Karla you are dragged into the center of the merriment. the woman starts a fairy tail about a bunny that survives successive encounters with a snake, fox, and wolf. she is being kinda rude to you Karla, and is trying to drag Draalush away to one of the wagons

@Draalush

Spoiler:
if you go with her you will be out of commission for about 2 hours

side note, if you ever say you're gonna go get smashed, control of your character will go to me for the duration of the night. with interesting results

Hashik pulls his hood down and goes over to lean into the cart. he Alters his voice to sound like the guard of whom he wears the likeness of.

Karla returns the favour with a story about halflings outwitting bigins, ie anyone bigger than halflings.

She will avoid becoming smashed, since that is not a survival technique while surrounded by drunk humans.

Also, if Draaush succomes to her wiles, take note of where they head, in case something happens.

Urrrrrrrrr...

Draalûsh will go along with the guard...

DM_Smiles:
Draalûsh will try to get her to drink like a fish while avoiding booze for himself.
In the hopes she'll pass out a lot sooner than 2 hours.
bluff, to dupe her into overindulging: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Draalush you are successful in your ruse, and she passes out in her driver's seat after 10 minutes pass.

Hashik the guard says "you can find it in the morning, I believe you're on duty tonight sir."

Male Human Magus (inactive)

Once the guard has nodded off (or passed out) Draalûsh will try sneaking back to Hashik avoiding notice:
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

When he sees the guards with Hashik, he'll be nonchalant:
"Wotcher! Took me longer to do my business out in the bushes than I would've liked."
"Time for me to have a bit of a lie down to sleep off all this boozing it up."
"Have an uneventful night, All..."

He'll give Hashik a wink and a nod to indicate he'll be waiting back in the cave with the others.

of note there are 5 wagons the mephits stole total each with 1 or 2 guards each. 2 on this one

they look to each other and shrug, saying "sure, just be quick about it."

there are some basic travel supplies along with some miscellaneous bags, trunks, and chests piled up haphazardly.

this is the one with the magic in it, and I'll need a perception check from you to find it before the guards get suspicious

"Lets split it up and hide it on ourselves. I think the caravan master is going to stiff us out of our portion of this, but we will see. I think we should assert that one of the wagons should be ours. We can use it or sell it depending on what comes next for us."

the gold and platinum totals up to 5,000 gold

shall there be another attempt?

"That wagon is full of trunks and whatnot. Maybe they will let us take that one. Do you know if they have someone who can detect magic? Dang I wish I had that spell." Hashik stews.

"We have a good haul here though. I guess if we get a wagon, great, if not whatever, but they got a lot of loot off our hard work. If they are going to pay us 200g each that would be great."

"Then again we are wanted, so maybe we just fade off?"

Male Human Magus (inactive)

Did we have our own wagon?

you have a cart and horse, and as normal for such things it has an indentation for storing stuff.

unless otherwise specified, I'll assume that everything not immediately on you is being stored there, including the money chest

Male Human Magus (inactive)

@ DM_Smiles: sounds good...

"Any chance of us getting to that cart again so I can determine what is and is not magical?"

from the earlier detect magic you have determined that there are 3 items closely packed together in there somewhere. nothing more than caster level 3

will there be more attempts at this or are we moving on?

Male Human Magus (inactive)

I'm keen on another attempt, while most of the caravan members are boozing it up.
And therefore not as alert as they should be.

No, I'm not really good at that sort of magic. I could set on fire, if you like, but that wouldn't achieve much. I do have a spell to open locks, if that helps.
Karla sits there, thinking.
let's think about this. If we found the stuff, and took it, we would either have to hide it, or run for it. Both options are dangerous. But if we just located the items, and waited for an opportunity, a distraction, our chances would be better.
She shrugs But if we don't get an opportunity, it might be better to let it go. But I will help if you think otherwise.

Male Human Magus (inactive)

"You're right, Karla. Fire might damage the magic items anyway."
"So that's not a good choice. I'm can detect magic, of course."
"The guards on that cart are annoyingly alert right now."
