you make it to the inn. where and what are you doing to gather information or whatever?

try https://paizo.com/campaigns/StrandedInSargava/gameplay&page=last next time, for me whenever I post something it goes to a url with a specific post and I can't see new posts if I refresh that.

they aren't immediately following you out the door and you make it to the inn safely. anything in particular to be done about this or will you go back to gathering information?

Spoiler:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

you said you were in a pub not an inn. the inn is 2 streets over, who's carrying the 'halflings'?

Draalush you have a ring of sustenance.

various cooked birds are brought to be eaten. there is drink to be had everyone has a great time for about an hour. then everyone starts to pass out. along with Raok and Karla

the barkeep says "Would anyone like more food?"

"only meat for now. 3 silver for you." a waitress comes over with a plate of chicken and a small saucer of gravy

I'm gonna need fortitude saves from everyone not wearing a ring of sustenance

"3 cooked chickens for your table sir!"

every other guest is scrambling for some now

so at the pub, everyone from town dodges questions more and more akwardly, until the barkeep announces

"THERE IS FOOD FOR SALE!!! We got a cartload come in today! Anyone who wants some is welcome to it, for the proper coin of course."

everyone is ignoring you and trying to buy as much food as they can now, but the barkeep wants everyone in the pub to have a chance to buy some before seconds are served out. anyone buying any?

all people are talking about now is the dragon. if you continue to ask around they continue to talk about the dragon a bit nervously. where do you want to be when you notice this?

sorry for being so slow with posting, been feeling a bit down recently

both is no problem. bag of holding type 1 is an additional 2,500 gp

I'll assume you've asked that of a shopkeeper since you've already been shooed out of the keep and went shopping

"It'll take a week or 2 for a caravan to get here from Eleder. for bounties, Goldfingers went down to 5,000 gp and Ilina Iceheart went up to 15,000 gp. weird thing is, this happened immediately after the dragon circled the town. you all with the good news must've been still a mile out when this happened."

did you want the bag of holding, the haversack or both?

all the potions normally available. what I mean by minimum level was no scrolls or potions that have been made with a higher than normal caster level. effectively infinite supply of magical healing stuff. you already have 2 clw wands though

as long as no one has any objections to major purchases I'll let you buy it. did you want a bag of holding along with the haversack?

yeah clerical create food and water are all out. 5 disguise self scrolls, 10 sleep scrolls, and 20 shields. are you buying anything?

the market in the main district still has anything under 8,000 gp. thats not a weapon

only minimum level scrolls and potions though

exceptions are rings of sustenance and magical sources of water, those are sold out. along with all food

you will have to find a food source kinda soon

well except for the somewhat unclear response from Draalush I would say that's enough for a purchase.

you are brought to a waiting room immediately in the fortress, it seems they are very security conscious concerning how much they are willing to let you see. the payment is all there for you to count and as soon as you are satisfied you are shown out the door.

is there anything in particular you all are pursuing after this?

the guard leads you to the fortress on top of the city. you are saluted by all of the guards as you pass, and you are drunkenly cheered in the streets by the workers. your relative anonymity is thoroughly thrashed.

Carlos is a generic looking white guy in half plate and short brown hair when he greets you in the entryway. "hello there fine mercenaries. I can have the platinum coins ready in half an hour, and if you prefer I can sell you a handy haversack on the spot to help transport it."

will you take him up on the haversack? its 2,000 gp out of your 10,000 and still counts towards leveling up

the guards you approach to claim the bounty are sleeping when you approach them. one of them trips over themselves when they see the dragon head in your arms. they lead you up through the workers district where a massive party is being had. people are in the streets, along with what must be half the mercenaries in the city. you happen to see 2 familiar and very tan faces. by which I mean the workers who got away from you at the riot, they were not tan previously. when they catch sight of you they run into an alleyway.

is anyone breaking off from your guard guide to go see whats up with them?

if you want Jarek to meet the guard captain it will have to be at night when he can sneak your weapons back into the city. are you doing that?

it took a whole 3 minutes before anything fired. and Naxx circled the city once

hey man no one I know knew about more than one dragon. you want a proper officer to take that up with you can talk to Carlos. you'll be seeing him when you collect the bounty. do you need an escort into town?"

you also notice some smoke coming from the workers district. Naxx didn't do a damn thing to the town.

I'll make a wild assumption that Hashik is holding the dragon head.

the patrol of 10 guards come up, stare for a moment, and ask "how did you outrun the big one?"

I'll assume you're going through the same process to get your magic stuff back in the city, it works.

the journey back is uneventful, except when you're 2 miles out Naxx flies overhead and sends the guard into a panic. they mobilize the siege equipment and get a few shots and a fireball off before she veers off back into the desert.

the watch is sending out a patrol to greet you all, what are you doing?

she just stares at you

you going back to claim the bounty?

evil dragon is evil

She looks at you for a solid 10 seconds and says "Huh" and proceeds to grab her baby, which screams in protest, rips off its head and spits it at you.

"I don't need that b$~*%+#* in my life, though if you are lying about much of the cities being destroyed it won't be a lie for much longer"

she continues to stand there, staring at you lazily wagging her tail

she walks into sight range of the darkvision people. growling and hunched over like a cat about to pounce "you may call me Naxx. and we have always been walking winged calamities to you puny things, we have always- Crackle -raided the caravans throughout the decades. what makes this time so special, to bring such DOGGED pursuit to my doorstep? HMMM?"

the air around her is crackling and sparking now

and to be clear she is huge sized

Raok, is smooth volcanic glass. you will not get far.

it narrows a bit further in, but not enough to affect your formation. after about 200 ft. you all feel waves of dread wash over you. only Karla is unaffected.

up ahead a looming shape walks out of one of the walls with a much smaller one behind it and shouts out "CAN YOU ALL EXPLAIN TO ME, WHY YOU ARE HUNTING ONE OF MY CHILDREN?!"

the cave entrance is 40 ft. by 40 ft. and shrinks down to 30 ft. by 30 ft. further in.

it's very smooth obsidian glass on the walls and ceiling with a well used floor by all manner of creatures it looks like.

I'll need your marching order and a will save

so, unlike before Roak actually has a trail to follow, in the form of drips of dragon blood hundreds of meters apart. that survival check was just enough to follow it. at the end of the day there is a somewhat secluded part of the mountain range coming into view. if the dragon keeps going straight east it will end up somewhere in there.

those other guys never catch up with you.

the scorched shale planes slowly give way to obsidian the next day, and the mountain looms over you. this should be one of the most desolate areas in the country. you would already be thoroughly dead of thirst from the unnatural heat in the area if not for Roak's create water. as far as you can tell the small dragon went into a relatively massive and exposed cave in the mountainside.

how are you approaching?

for reference these are the mountains northwest of the Devil's Cradle

Hashik you see one of them eyeing the gold pile left behind by the now dead guys

are you all moving out?

well as I said.... weeks ago darkvision peeps saw the dragon bolt east in a panic. I'll assume they speak up about it

the more battered enforcer speaks up to Karla "fine, civility is a small price to pay for cooperation." they proceed to set up a watch seperate from yours.

morning comes, the tent the mercenaries improvised burned down sometime in the battle up the hill. Raok finds success in finding dragon tracks on it's initial touchdown. the enforcers are making breakfast for themselves as you are ready to head out they say "we'll catch up later. don't worry about us we're big boys"

sense motive?

one of the more singed enforcers asks "it's the dead of night how could anyone see where it went!? how are we gonna track it if they did? sunrise is in 10 HOURS!"

if nothing else that needs to be said at night we can skip to morning

it doesn't appear again

one of the enforcers yells "WHERE THE HELL IS IT?" is it

they all shuffle around and eventually just huddle up next to you all next to the wagon

what are you gonna do?

everyone who attacked I'll allow to fire off as a readied action, and I believe they all hit.

unfortunately it is still night out on a new moon so no tracking for now. the enforcers get into battle positions with crossbows out and start to get confused after a minute of standing around without any more dragon attacks. they even make confused sounds

you hear a reptilian shriek, and those of you with darkvision see it immediately turn straight east and run away.

one of the enforcers screams, "TRAVELERS, IF YOU HELP US KILL THE DRAGON WE ARE WILLING TO SPLIT THE BOUNTY 50/50!"

the enforcers are purposely leading the dragon over here

the enforcers get within 30 feet, and get lightning on them again.

you can see the dragon in the sky 40 ft. up, who are you shooting?

from that roll you know that a dragon of this color is usually lawful evil and a dragon of this size is probably a hatchling without any greater concept of the world

babby dragons like this usually don't know common, only draconic

if you aren't going out to attack it the scene I described earlier takes place. the dragon touches down foils the ambush, and takes off again spouting lightning every few rounds at the enforcers this time. those of you with darkvision will see the dragon occasionally as it flies over the wagons. the enforcers seem to be doing a better job dodging the lightning than the mercenaries. after a few minutes they start running toward the wagons where you all are hiding.

what are you doing?

again knowledge arcana?

and I've seen 2 suggestions, one of following it and another of trying to negotiate. are you taking one of them?

knowledge arcana?

its flying around alot, it sends down it's lightning every few rounds, and you can only see it the instant the lightning flashes down. its 40 ft up

I did not think anyone would come out when the dragon is sending out the aerial bombardment where almost none of the party can see it, and it can see you, are you sure you want to do this?

Spoiler:
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 231d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 261d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 211d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 201d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

it's still nighttime and very dark out

Jarek, you actually catch some glimpses of it as it's bombarding the mercenaries, it's flying in kinda low

it is systematically killing all of them, this takes about a half hour.

after all the mercenaries are dead, the dragon lands and walks into the tent.

the 4 enforcers whip off their tarps and the dragon immediately takes off shooting lightning at one of them. you notice they each have a metal net in hand. having their plan thwarted they immediately scatter

it will take 2 rounds for you to get to the makeshift tent, except for Jarek who is much closer who can be there in a move action. if you so choose.

what are you doing?

the enforcer group comes along(the rogues), talks with one of the mercenaries and they seem to come to an agreement. they start digging 4 shallow holes in the ground for all of them and they swing a camouflage tarp over themselves more than 20 feet away from the tent in different directions.

night falls and the mercenaries make a fire and light some torches and stake them into the ground. shortly after some lightning hits one of the mercenaries. they all flurry into action with their crossbows, but it's night time and no one knows if they hit. half a minute later another mercenary is hit by lightning.

are you all doing anything?

this is a rocky desert, there are hills and wagons.

how long are you all hiding?

well, you get to the wagons with dead horses leading them, and the mercenary group just rushes ahead and take a blue tarp off of one of them. they also start hacking off 4 ornate corner-posts and tip it over and takes off the axle assembly of another.

they drag that up to a hill in the distance and start setting up some shade. one of them comes back down for 2 more blue tarps. while that's happening the rest of them are attaching some golden skulls to the tops of the poles and burying the bases in the hill, cut up the fabric and make a massive tent with a hole in the middle, and when they're done one of them empties out a backpack of silver and gold at least 5 times of what the bag could possibly hold directly under the hole.

any responses?

Roak I am sorry, but it is a flying based monster with about a 50 mile long area of operations. you find nothing.

the mercenaries are also following the road here to the carts. the enforcer group is keeping their distance, but still following your groups

these are all very interesting thoughts, but I do need to know what you're going to be looking for at the carts.

again, it takes 4 days to get there. with the mercenary group in easy reach the whole time.

they're rich mercenaries!

the deal goes off without a hitch. Hashik add an earring to your inventory

you, Raok see exactly 13 tumbleweeds rolling off in the distance.

as you're handing the food Hashik off he says "nah, I'm not that well connected. besides barely anyone cares what happens in Crown's End." he seems friendly for a professional killer

you said you were going to the derelict wagons for supplies. you all get there in 4 days, with the mercenary group traveling relatively close to the road and the group of enforcers out of sight. what are you looking for?

"an earring. should be able to get at least 10 gold for it at market"

a full days rations usually go for 1 gold each, it would be half a days rations for 5 of them

there are 5 mercenaries, only one is approaching. even then only at a distance

"we have some spare gold for the food, half a days rations is what we're asking"

he flips Karla the bird

that is a sufficient roll to provide. one of the mercenary group (all human) is approaching you. he is wearing a stupid amount of jewelry

he yells out "I see you have some food over here, we would be willing to pay for some."

you find one badger and somehow kill 2, you're all set for a week. what are you storing the water in?

food will only be a problem in the city. I will not waste time on combat on things that aren't threats
