I decided not to convert to full barbarian. I messed around with several builds but in the end I decided I like my 1/2 defense 1/2 killer version of Grayface, and the full barbarian suffered too much on the defense side if I wanted to dish out lots more damage...and didn't do good damage if he focused on defense.
In the end I decided to just add another level of Unchained Barbarian to the existing build, update some skills/feats (only swapped one feat I think). Maybe next level I'll do something more dramatic but for now Grayface is effective and fun.

Grayface
Leveled up in barbarian - Invulnerable Rager
--------
Ea, you're getting rid of your Con belt? Can I haz??!

Yasmin al Akbar |

Ooh, Superstition! Good power, but takes a little thought to use. We should be sure to coordinate whether Yasmin will be casting Haste in a battle before you decide whether or not to Rage.

Rallos Therinor |

sorry...just realized my lvl up didnt save...here's the highlights....
+1 BAB
+1d6 sneak attack
skills
lvl 7 is pretty bland for lvl up
added the +2 to Con...figured HP and a +1 to Fort is good...thoughts?
Oh, and how many points should we have in background skills? I messed that up....i'm taking appraise and linguistics

Grayface |

Didn't add it to Dex?
AC, Range attack, Reflex Save, most of your best skills...and as an unchained rogue you also get hit/damage out of it as well.
The extra 7 HP and +1 Fort is nice, but I'm surprised you didn't go for Dexterity.

Grayface |

Yes, that is definitely true. I figure it will bite me in the butt before long, but the overall benefit is pretty hefty. I looked over a lot of rage powers and honestly had a hard time making a decision. I opted for a defensive one since fighters/barbarians are a bit deficient in the will save area.
I was allowed the CON belt until we leveled up to level 7, then it would "disappear"
So, non, sowwy but u can't haz it. ;-)
Oh yeah. haha!

Upgrade to mithral chain shirt! Gives you max +6 dex bonus and no armor check penalty. Costs 1,000 gp.

Will post my level up stuff tomorrow, laptop was acting funky tonight.
So, been thinking of a back-up character in case Murassa bites the blade delving into the spire. What do you think of a LN Hellknight Signifier of the Order of the Gate?

Grayface |

Sounds like he'd clash with my CG fighter! (just kidding. All RP is just our decisions... there is no need for conflict unless we fabricate it.)

Yasmin al Akbar |

Seems to work. The Lady Commander sends someone to watch over us, and voila! We have a new party member. There's also that other Hellknight fellow we ran into, I forget his name right now. He could be the one to send you with us.
But if you ever make a Hellknight, we are NOT introducing you to Royst and our tax evading ways. :P

Level Up Stats:
+2 Str
+7 HP (new total of 46)
+1 BAB
Spell Penetration feat
1st Level Spell: Thunderstomp
3rd Level Spell: Mind Thrust III, Lightning Bolt
Can't remember what skills I added a point to

Grayface |

I've been ill today, sorry for no posts. I should be back and ready tomorrow (Thursday)

5600 gp is great.
Regarding our other loot - I still haven't made the time to go through the log and find out how many lootz we have gathered from this level of the spire. If someone gets to that before I do, it would be much appreciated, as I have been under the weather and find my tolerance while sick for looking at the computer screen to be low. With X masterwork scimitars needing counting, it will be a stash of gold we can each add to our purses.

Grayface |

Okay so it looks like we battled a total of 9 serpentfolk warriors, each having a MW scimitar and MW composite shortbow. GM, what Strength bonus are these bows capable of?
We also did battle with a serpentfolk brute who had a MW heavy flail and a MW breastplate.
We also obtained some loot from Uzarkus in the form of magic items and a holy symbol.
Add to this the 5000gp gem and 600gp for the map:
After hearing back from GM about the shortbows I will total up the value of these.

Yasmin al Akbar |

Thanks so much, Grayface!

Grayface |

Ermagerd @ Preacher.
I've been a Preacher fan for years... I have the whole comic series. This new show is pretty good, though I'm curious how they're weaving together all of the wacky characters and plots from the comic. So far I am diggin' the new series!
And ermagerd @ Sunday's Game of Thrones... can't wait for next week!

GM Zed |

Yeah... Mondays are cool - Game of Thrones and Preacher here in the UK. I never read the Preacher series although I was aware of it... it was being written / published at more or less the same time as Sandman which was kinda filling my headspace around then.
...but I am loving the series so far!!! Maybe I'll check the books out once the series is done.

9 MW Scimitars = 315gp x 9 = 2,835 x 1/2 (trade-in value) x 0.7 (-30% for Fort levy) = 992.25
9 MW +2 str composite shortbows = 4,725 x 1/2 x 0.7 = 1,653.75
1 MW Flail = 315 x 1/2 x 0.7 = 110.25
1 MW Breastplate = 350 x 1/2 x 0.7 = 122.5
Total of all mundane gear trade-in gold value = 2,878 gp
Add the 5,600 gp from the gem and map = 8,478 gp
Divide this by 5 party members = 1,695 gp each. Add this gold to your character sheets!
**this is assuming that we have no trouble selling the items to the armory/armorers.**
--------
This total does not include any of the magic items. I'd love to get some upgraded armor or maybe a boost to my sword if we can trade in some unused magic items. I'm thinking about the Furious enchantment, if it is not disallowed by the automatic bonus progression. It seems like a grey area since it adds an enhancement bonus, though it is not quite the same as a vanilla enhancement bonus.
Which of the magic items do party members want to keep?

No problem with Furious enhancement... not a huge stretch to see that interacting just fine with ABP.

Yasmin al Akbar |

Yasmin wants to purchase the following items, if possible:
Oil of Daylight (750 gp)
Wand of Lesser Restoration (Paladin) (750 gp) (Which she can sometimes manage to use thanks to Use Magic Device)
Quick Runner's Shirt (1,000 gp)
Also, she's happy to contribute gold to someone else's purchase, having about 900 gold available after those purchases.

I'll keep the negating scimitar, use it instead of the mwk one I have right now. Go ahead and add that to the loot sold for a bit more gold to distribute. Not sure what I want to purchase right now, though I'm thinking about getting a wand, either Magic Missile or Scorching Ray, to supplement my magic casting. Will go through my books and see what I want. Otherwise I'll either save it to get my armor enchanted or donate some to somebody else if they need some.

Just wanted to share with you friends --
My homebrew game just hit 4000 gameplay posts!

Congratulations!!! 4,000 is a real watershed... now push on to 5,000...

Note: Folks wanting to buy magical items will need to make requests at either the various smiths, Royst or Signifer Hast... although, as per normal business, mundane items can be bought as simple housekeeping requiring no RP.

Grayface |

Sorry for my posting delays... I've been training a new employee at work and I haven't had as much leisure time to contemplate what magic enhancements I might like. I will try to get up another post at lunchtime today.

Grayface |

Is no one else interested in keeping the Wounding Dagger? If not, I would like to trade it to upgrade my sword. The dagger is a +2 equivalent, so it is valuable.
The Necklace of Adaptation is really neat and valuable. Part of me wants to trade it but another part of me thinks it may be really good to keep that around for now. Underwater breath, immunity to gasses... that is awesome.
I'm thinking Ea should wear the necklace as default so she can heal us in the event that we all go down to a gas or something like that.
Thoughts on that?

Grayface |

Everyone add 22 gp per Murassa's MW scimitar being sold.
I agree, though I think the dagger should go to either Ea or Rallos. If neither of them want it, then go ahead and trade it.
This is not intended as anything other than a pragmatic statement, but giving the dagger to Ea would be a waste since she is not particularly melee oriented and the weapon is better suited to someone like a rogue.
If Rallos is not going to use it, then we should trade it. If Ea wants a magic weapon we should trade for one that is better suited to her.
I'll wait to hear from Rallos and Ea.

Grayface |

An energy type would be sweet, though I'm leaning toward the Furious because it helps to hit and damage both, which might help it pierce through some DR.
If we can't afford it and/or if someone else wants some of the value, I'm thinking of having my cold iron sword enchanted with Undead Bane. We've been hearing about undead for awhile now, so it might be nice to have a weapon suited to the task.

![]() |

Like I said, other than a wand or two, since I'm getting Rallos' old armor, I'd be willing to donate some of my gold for you to get the Furious enchantment.

Grayface |

Quick math -
The Wounding dagger is +2 equivalent weapon, making it valued at 8,000gp, trade in of 4000gp (maybe more)
The furious enchantment would cost 6000gp [the difference between a +1 (2000gp) and a +2 (8000gp) weapon]
Ea is thinking about undead bane which is a +1 equivalent (2000gp).
If we trade in the dagger (4000gp), add my 3000gp cash, and maybe I could borrow a bit (about 1000gp) from the gang (I know Yasmin and Murassa have offered), that should be enough to get Ea's and my weapons enchanted.

Save me enough money to buy a wand of magic missile and take the rest of my share. It's really nice not having to worry about having to buy things like that.

Grayface |

You shouldn't have to pay if we can get it for "free" from our trade-in. Save it for your next big purchase :)

GM - that GoT episode! The first 10 minutes were like cake-encrusted pie. The rest of the episode was butter on the biscuit. Am I right?
