I'm here, I'm sorry, I'm really overwhelmed at work (still behind at this very moment,) and when I get home I have a newborn to look after plus I'm still exhausted from my work day. Generally when I get home I've been napping/trying to sleep in between feedings and changings of my baby boy. Posting in all my campaigns - I want to get on top of things again, hopefully this Memorial Day weekend will let me do that.

Grayface |

oh wow! that is incredible.
It's like they said in Jurassic park..."Life finds a way."

Grayface |

GM I believe you are mistaken about the rounds underwater. Here is the appropriate text:
If you are underwater, either because you failed a Swim check or because you are swimming underwater intentionally, you must hold your breath. You can hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to twice your Constitution score, but only if you do nothing other than take move actions or free actions. If you take a standard action or a full-round action (such as making an attack), the remainder of the duration for which you can hold your breath is reduced by 1 round. (Effectively, a character in combat can hold his breath only half as long as normal.) After that period of time, you must make a DC 10 Constitution check every round to continue holding your breath. Each round, the DC for that check increases by 1. If you fail the Constitution check, you begin to drown. The DC for the Swim check depends on the water, as given on the table below.
I bolded the important bits for emphasis.
I'm interpreting the rules like this:
I have been submerged for 5 rounds and taken 4 actions during that time. That should be a total of 9/28 rounds that I can remain submerged without beginning to drown.

Grayface |

Gang, we should be able to 'take a 10' on these swim checks as there is no threat or pressure at the moment.

GM Zed |

Yep, fine with that... There is no threat at the moment and the water flow is not strong enough to sweep you away - so I am happy for you to auto-succeed in your navigation up and down the corridor...
Given that the impact of failure is just trying again until you succeed, let's just say you get to where you need to be...

GM Zed |

...could someone move Grayface on the map... No Access to PC right now...
...you will of course be pleased to hear that this room is called the 'Dangerous Tank'... Good Luck!!!
...from a GM perspective, I do like the way in which the flooding of the level has been used to provide different challenges... and, it's probably worth saying that you did well to convince the Undine to leave the level (at least for now) - otherwise you would have been fighting a Summoner and Eidolon at the same time as the Automaton... That might have been a bit too much...

Grayface |

Pertreeko,
Though I appreciate the gesture, I recommend you take advantage of your form that is at home in the water and just attack.
Ea,
Can I please get a heal? I'm marginally more effective in melee when I'm conscious!

Pertreeko |

Yep, totally am doing that with my next action, Gray - just didn't want to meta the decision. It's what Pertreeko's first thought was to do, even if it wasn't the most tactically sound thing. Now he'll go on the offensive...

Everyone may level up to Level 5 – note normal procedure of describing key changes to your characters in the Discussion Thread as you level…
Some changes this time around though – I would like to implement the optional Automatic Bonus Progression system described in Pathfinder Unchained. It is yet to appear on the Paizo PRD so I have extracted the relevant parts and placed them in the Campaign Tab for your perusal…
Key parts are that, moving to Level 5, you will get:
Resistance: At 3rd level, the character gains a +1 resistance bonus on all saving throws.
Armor Attunement: The character can attune herself to one suit of armour or one shield in her possession; she can change that attunement once per day. If she selects a normal set of clothing as her armour, it counts as having a starting enhancement bonus of +0. The attuned suit of armour gains a +1 enhancement bonus at 4th level.
Weapon Attunement: The character can attune herself to any one weapon in her possession, and can change that attunement once per day. The attuned weapon gains a +1 enhancement bonus at 4th level.
Deflection: The character gains a +1 deflection bonus to AC at 5th level.
Some of you may have magic items that are no longer relevant – Rallos’ +1 Rapier being a case in point although if there are others, please let me know… For all such items, I will suggest a new function…

Yasmin al Akbar |

Yay! That will do wonders for us.
As the party camps in in the watery level, Yasmin's small genie companion appears before the party. He sounds extremely excited. "Wow, can you feel it? The power that comes from this place! I can sense it - my magic is returning to me!"
"I've never seen you so happy before," notes the sorceress.
Hakan seems content to just float around from portal to portal, soaking in the energy. Eventually, he comes back. "You know, I'm in a good mood. Let me teach you something. With the power of this realm, you can greatly enhance your mastery of water."
And so, Yasmin continued to grow in her power.
+6HP
+1 Diplomacy/Bluff/Spellcraft/Use Magic Device
Feat: Rime Spell
Spells:
See Invisibility (bloodline)
Glitterdust
Infernal Healing
Magic Missile (favored class bonus)

Rallos, you should consider looking into unchained rogue. It is on the SRD now, and should help strengthen your character. For example, I think the unchained rogue gets dex to damage and weapon finesse.

GM Zed |

Or even dip a level of Vigilante!!! By day Rallos is a mild-mannered tiefling rogue... But by night he is Spider / Crab / Eel (I'm sure he's been bitten by at least one of those) man!!!
...will have a look at the Playtest document this weekend... It's an interesting development from Paizo but I wonder, given we have two different rogues, the slayer, the investigator and the swashbuckler, is there a niche that the new class makes its own?

Grayface |

2nd'd Yasmin's suggestion about the unchained rogue. They are much cooler. The finesse training alone makes such a nice difference. The main drawback being it is restricted to one weapon, but that's not so bad. Dex to damage is excellent.

Yasmin al Akbar |

Agree unchained rogue would surely replace the standard rogue. It's a good trade though, and not much would have to change (same skill points, HP, defenses, etc.). Unchained rogue is more a mechanical fix to the rogue class to help it keep up with other melee classes.

GM Zed |

Work travel turned out to be horrendous - precious little internet access and stuck in France for nearly two extra days due to strikes affecting my Eurostar trip - plane back to the UK this evening... Time to catch up with family and sleep and I will get back to normal posting some time tomorrow!!! Thanks everyone for your patience...

Grayface |

Hang in there. We'll be here. :)

Grayface |

Were the snorkel devices we found magical at all in nature, or were they pretty typical snorkels?
If we can utilize those to help in any way I think we should.
Either way, I say lets press on to the bunyip room, even if it means held breath.

GM Zed |

Rallos – I make your HP at Level 5 as 38 (8+1FC+1CON = 10 at Level 1 followed by 4 of 5+1FC+1CON = 4*7 = 28) – you had it down as 31 at Level 4 which tallies with my calculation. Is there something I am missing? Also, can you post a brief ‘highlights of changes’ for your levelling in the discussion thread – it’s worth a Hero Point if you do!!!!
Grayface – the snorkels are not magical and, in slow moving water and without combat or other pressures, merely taking 10 a load of times will eventually get you to where you need to be… Everyone else happy to move to the Bunyip room?

Rallos Therinor |

sure no prob....
-took toughness for a feat(hence the extra 5 hp]
-+1d6 sneak attack
-no base change to BAB or saves
-FCB is HP(all 5 lvls actually just to be clear)
-9 skill pts
-and the ABP bonuses of course
edit: just realized i forgot to add toughnes to the profile...my bad...i added it to my notepad sheet but not that one..d'oh!

I mentioned this to my other game where I GM but I forgot to mention in here --
The recent website compatibility changes that Paizo has undergone has essentially cut me off from posting at work. My employer deliberately uses an out of date browser because of a critical software we use that is written based on old code.
Result = From here on out I will seldom be posting during the hours of about 7:30am - 7pm, pacific standard time. Most of my posts will be coming at night.
I should still easily be able to do the whole 1/day, but I prefer to post more often, so this sucks for me.
Just wanted to make everyone aware.

GM Zed |

Congratulations on surviving Sean K. Reynolds' Drowned Level and I bid you welcome to Level 6, the Clockwork Maze by Richard Baker

Grayface |

Friends,
I just got home from the hospital. I've been away for a couple days. I am feeling mostly okay so I will try to pop in a post when I can but please be patient with me over the next week or two while I am recovering.
