Teldon Moore |

I'm going to be out of town until tomorrow night... I'll try to post in gameplay once today and once tomorrow, if internet availability and the flow of action allow.

Joanna Whitehall |

Have a safe trip. Don't worry, we won't hurt Teldon while you're gone.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

On future advancement...
From the character's conception, I've considered Ziomarra to be a devoted follower of Desna, who is the god most associated with both Varisians and the Harrow. I am contemplating multiclassing into the Evangelist prestige class, from Inner Sea Gods.
Zed: Would you allow that? (No rush... the soonest level a PC can take that class is 6th.)

Nalathi Estrid |

Wow. That's a pretty sweet prestige class-- feat tax of 1 and level tax of 1 to add a bunch of class features without sacrificing any. I may add it to my PFS inquisitor when he gets high enough.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

Arsith: I just read your background and chuckled at your Poe references.

Joanna Whitehall |

I kinda wish I could introduce Gkirkhan into this game. He was inspired by the Jagers from Girl Genius.
Joanna's inspiration is a good bit further removed. In a sense, she's the oldest character I have ever created, but she wasn't inspired by Poe, unfortunately. (Although, having a Poe themed party for Carrion Crown would be pretty cool.)

Teldon Moore |

i like the evangelist too. i have an inquisitor of erastil in another PbP that's about to start leveling as one. i also used one for a high level one shot (IRL) that worked out pretty well.
do you have the ranks in know[religion] for deific obedience?

Ziomarra Callinovo |

do you have the ranks in know[religion] for deific obedience?
Not yet. If I do indeed choose to go down the Evangelist prestige class path, I'll be taking Deific Obedience as my 5th-level feat, so I'll have plenty of time to get those three ranks.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

Oh, well. I was definitely fishing for an auction caper scenario... where we'd pose as buyers and try to either straight-up outbid opponents or try the old switcheroo by replacing the actual item with a fake and running off with it.
I really don't see us pulling off a successful infiltration. I hate to look down my nose at an offered scenario. I don't think any of us have put any ranks into either Bluff or Disguise. This is probably the least sneaky party I've ever played in... and our "face" character is a paladin, not known for lying.
In-character, I think we're all pretty cognizant of our own abilities, and we'd know that trying to fake our way in will end in tears.
Of course, this could be part of the test, to see what we can do when we're all out of our element!

Joanna Whitehall |

Not only that, Joanna's probably the world's worst poker player. :D

Teldon Moore |

Every once in a while you've got to take on mission you're going to fail- it makes the victories that much better, lol. Let's just make sure we always have an escape plan ready...

Joanna Whitehall |

Either its bash our way out using the meatshield, or run and let the meatshield hold them until you get to safety. You can dress it up as much as you want to, but that' what it boils down to. :)

GM Zed |

As per the previous investigations within Magnimar (when you were looking for Natalya), this will be truly 'collaborative' - once you are out of Heidmarch Manor and off to Dockway, feel free to invent shops, stalls, taverns and NPC's - your ultimate goal will be to gain the attention of the Aspis Consortium...how you do that, is up to you...

GM Zed |

The Mariner's Rest is a reasonably well appointed tavern on the Quayside in Dockway - almost next door to the Bronze House. Feel free to RP arrival, setting up, etc - I'll pick up the story once you give me some indication of how you are going to start getting yourself noticed - happy for anyone to describe the tavern, some of the customers, even the innkeeper if it helps your story...

Re: Treasure!
I just went through the posts of our exploration of The Crow, and I think we have recovered the following loot...
Cash:
120 gp
175 sp
Gems/jewelry/art:
amphora (35 gp)
96 miscellaneous Thassilonian coins (486 gp)
bronze statuette of rune giant (400 gp) <-- saving for our ruse
Tower Girls' treasure hoard (900 gp)
Thassilonian brass platter (100 gp) <--saving for our ruse
Thassilonian pottery basin (250 gp)
Magic items:
+1 bladed scarf <-- claimed by Zee, who actually has proficiency in this exotic weapon!
Mundane items
4 short swords
4 hand crossbows
40 hand crossbow bolts
2 smokesticks
3 tanglefoot bags
3 hooded lanterns with oil
1 set of thieves' tools
2 incomplete Harrow decks (claimed by Zee)
1 suit masterwork studded leather armor
1 masterwork composite shortbow
20 arrows
1 climber's kit
1 grappling hook
50 feet silk rope
1 set masterwork thieves' tools
1 adamantine dagger
Zed: Did I miss anything described thus far?
Of the mundane items, I suggest we keep the adamantine dagger, smokesticks, and tanglefoot bags. I htink we should also keep the climber's kit for now. If he doesn't have a set already, Teldon should keep the masterwork thieves' tools. Someone should take the masterwork shortbow, and anyone who wears studded leather armor should take the masterwork suit.
Unless anyone wants anything else, I say we should sell the rest.
Teldon and Zee could do that on our errand to Ordellia.

Teldon Moore |

I'll take the masterwork thieves' tools if nobody objects? (I think I'm the only one who can use them); I'm not really worried about the -1 ACP from my studded leather- Teldon's not generally very interested in using those skills anyways... I'd take a tanglefoot bag or two and a smokestick if they're unclaimed (they go nicely with my alchemist-y vibe).
I also think we should definitely keep the adamantine dagger... if nobody else is excited to use a dagger, I would carry it for breaking locks and latches (but it could also be very handy if we run into a construct...)
I'm all for selling the 'Miscellaneous treasure of the Tower Girls' and any unclaimed mundane items, but really wouldn't mind holding on to the basin and Thassilonian coins for our ruse as well (the basin is a nice piece and the coins are worth about 5g each and could be really nice for tips/bribes with the right people)

Joanna Whitehall |

Unless someone with a higher Dex wants it, Joanna can use the shortbow.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

Zed: For ease of accounting, can we say that the 96 Thassilonian coins are worth 5 gp each? (That leaves 6 gp on the table, which we could just add to the party fund.)
So...
For the ruse, we're keeping the bronze statue, platter, basin, and Thassilonian coins.
We're keeping the alchemical items, the mwk composite shortbow, the climber's kit, the silk rope, the mwk thieves' tools, and the adamantine dagger, and selling off the other mundane equipment.
By my calculations that's a total of 1410.5 gp.
Dividing by 6 (5 PCs plus 1 party share), gives us a share of 235.08 gp.
This is NOT including the 1000 gp given to us by our Venture-Captain... we're going to need that for our little ruse.

Nalathi Estrid |

I'd like the silk rope and climbing gear. Can't use any of the equipment, I don't think, being Small.

Joanna Whitehall |

Thanks, I hope you find it entertaining. I'm sure I will. :D

Teldon Moore |

I'm enjoying trying to RP Teldon's thought out, rational approach to deception and diplomacy... If we level from this escapade I may take the additional traits feat so I can take that trait that lets you use Int for most diplomacy and bluff checks...

Ziomarra Callinovo |

Hey, folks.
I had an unexpectedly busy weekend, and showed up to a $#!tstorm at work this morning. Probably won't get a chance to post until tonight sometime.

Arsith D' Abariane |

GM Zed |

Out of interest, has anyone else followed RPG Superstar through to the end? Any thoughts on the final entries? I'm still working my way through them although I suspect from the outpouring of appreciation from the judges / couple of forum posters, the winning entry is fairly predictable...
As always, the monster round was probably my favourite - there were some real gems in there which could well make it into some of my games if they ever head in a subterranean direction...

Ziomarra Callinovo |

I got bogged down in the encounter round, and didn't read them all thoroughly. I haven't yet read the final round entries yet, but I usually enjoy those. I've pulled ideas from module pitches in the past for my own games.

Teldon Moore |

Hey all, I'm really sorry but I have some stuff going on IRL and I'm going to have to step away from the boards indefinitely. I've really enjoyed this group and this game (frankly out of all my PbPs this is the one I'm most bummed about leaving).
I'll finish out this current mission before I go. If Arsith is still interested/available maybe she can just take over for me and you can keep running smoothly. I may have Teldon become a legit antiquities dealer to bow out, so you could feel free to include him as an NPC whenever you wanted.

GM Zed |

I am sure I speak for all of us when I say that we'll be sorry to see Teldon / 'Pellius' / you go... Teldon has been an integral part of driving our little story on but sometimes RL does get in the way and you have to make those hard decisions - I think we can move this little part of the mission on quite quickly and get Teldon parting with the party in a sensible / logical manner.
The diversion away from Shattered Star will run for a while (it'll take the folks from Level 3 up to Level 4) and, who knows, maybe life will be a bit more forgiving by then? There'll always be a spot open for Teldon if / when you want it...

AdamWarnock |

I'm sorry to see you go too. Teldon was a fun character to play off of, and I'll miss him. I hope Arsith is ready to deal with goody-two-shoes paladin. :D
Good luck and I hope we get to see you soon. Take care of yourself until then, okay?

Teldon Moore |

you aren't quite rid of me yet...
like I said, I'll finish out this charade quickly before i disappear ;)
it has been great gaming with all of you too- this has been quite the interesting party! and if I'm able to come back in the future I'd love to do so.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

Zed: I ran a chase in my Runelords PbP a month or so ago.
I created a Google drawing with cards for the chase scene; feel free to copy the format for this one if you want.
I had covered the cards that the PCs hadn't gotten to yet with, so they couldn't see what was ahead of them. I used PC tokens to indicate where the various characters were on the chase.
