Just added 320 xp each for defeating blondie. Those in the maze also get 400 xp each for what they just dealt with. Getting close to level 4. I'm pretty sure everyone will be level 4 by the time we finish in the monastery.

Amari: Treat deadly wounds takes 1 hour unless you have a way to make it faster, like the healer's hands feat. Am I missing something? I don't think you have much of a choice in this scenario as you do NOT want to go forward missing one of your sets of eyes. But it makes a difference for what Lo and Agaban will have to deal with while you are gone.

Probably have to go with the simple first aid then, which would simply Stabilize Zaza but does not heal anything.
That one should be a lot faster iirc


Smelling salts on my person can wake me up. The main thing is that I can be someone else's eyes, even if I'm now useless in combat. Just another challenge to overcome!

Is this maze thing working for you guys? I know that the map is a very basic representation but it makes it much easier for me to reveal things piece by piece and I haven't yet succumbed to the allure of roll20. XD

Also, Zaza, I'm house-ruling that, for the purposes of being disable, starting a bardic performance is an exception to the "no standard actions" prohibition. But you can't start a bardic performance and move at the same time. This houserule is in effect after this combat.

I don't think we should get involved in this. Grab the keys and run was the game, was it not?
Given that I cannot see either combatant, my chances of hitting anything are ... slim anyway. Maybe Hadha can throw in a ray of doom or something but I think, Amari will go for one of the keys.

Well the reason I ask is because the rust monster has a HUGE natural advantage in this fight and might look for trouble when its over. You have a clear path to one of the keys but the one in the SE will be harder to get to past the combatants. You can always try, though!


I think making a run for the keys is our best hope.

Since we talked about Bardic Performances still being allowed, my backup plan is to Fascinate the Rust Monster long enough to get the keys!

Fun fact: Both teams earned exactly 3600 xp. Agaban and Lo took down 6 CR 2 monks while the maze team took down a choker brute (1200 xp) and I'm giving them credit for defeating the golden guardian (2400 xp) but not the rust lord. So it works out to be a little more XP per person for the monastery group but you'll all get mission-completion XP as well.

The maze group was a little ahead in XP before so they're level 4 now. The monastery group is a sneeze away from level 4 and will hit that right after mission completion XP so go ahead and level up, update your sheets, and report on your level-up highlights here.

A lot of offensive power up.
Wis-to-Atk (instead Dex), no longer provoking AoOs with ranged attacks, BaB+1, unarmed damage d6->d8.
Got monk AC upgrade too as well as saves.
Only sad thin is that my first Ki power is traded away for the no-AoO ability. Having access to Barkskin would be a nice defensive power up at this level ;-)

@Story: And now I wish Gara still lived to 'have a talk' with this guy...

@Lo: Unless you traded them away somehow, keep in mind that you get all summon nature ally spells added to your list for free.
Another very useful lvl 2 spells is Barkskin (bonus points if you get Improved Spell Share Teamwork Feat).

Rapid Defense (Su)
Starting at 4th level, a cryptic can use her altered defense ability as a free action by expending her psionic focus. The cryptic may even do this when it is not her turn.

Binding Pattern (Su)
A cryptic with this insight can cause creatures struck with her disrupt pattern ability to become entangled for a number of rounds equal to the cryptic’s Intelligence modifier, although the disrupt pattern damage is minimized (all dice rolls are treated as 1s). Entangled creatures can attempt to break free as a move action, making a Strength or Escape Artist check. The DC for this check is equal to the 10 + 1/2 the cryptic’s level + the cryptic’s Intelligence modifier. A cryptic must be at least 4th level before selecting this insight.

@GM: any chance the Shadows have a headband of wisdom lying around? I'd actually be willing to trade it 1:1 with my dex belt, since WIS is my new 1st prio stat :-)

Regarding a straight trade, no I don't think so. I've got you guys well ahead of WBL and allowing players to trade items (at least without finding a willing trader and persuading him or her) would let you swap things for free instead of the intended system of half price for selling items, full price for buying.


I'll start trying to identify stuff.

If Agaban gets the cloak, which he should, then I could use the Dex belt. Amari isn't using it anymore and I use Dex for a bunch of things.

Working on leveling up but wondering if giving Amari the +2 wisdom headband and taking Zaza's old +2 Chr headband might be worthwhile...I would lose an extra level 1 spell but if I take my +1 stat in Chr and the headband I would go from only 1 channel a day to 3

What does everyone think...probably going to do the stat in Chr either way to at least take myself to 2 channels a day...I also wouldn't be against getting one of the belt of Dex to help with various skills and other than my spear most of my to hit bonuses would benefit from it.

@Agaban: Mhh, that's difficult indeed.
On my side, I'd get:
- 1AC (+-0 if I trade it for Dex)
- +1 Atk
- +1 Ki Point

Not sure whether or not than would come out above an extra spell to be honest.
Do you have selected channel?
The biggest problem for channel is the possibility to heal foea with it too.
But in the end, I'm okay with keeping it as-is on my side.
Wis-headband is still on the top rank of my wish-list xD

@Agaban--An extra channel/day is not that helpful. I lean toward you keeping the +Wis haedband.

I suspect the +Cha headband is better converted to cash, that could help fund Agaban's needs. Maybe some scrolls for the next mission?

I need to remember to Staff of Beast Power to buff Amari's Wis.

At the beach so not too worried to be honest...the only other thing about the channel though is I dont have to touch the person receiving the heals and can heal multiple people...since the same person is taking all the damage at times...though I do not have selective channel as of now so that is always a concern...and not really cash strapped was just wanting to check so I can update my page correctly.

@gm: yeah I remember that. But I also recall that the room of him was practically overstuffed with luxuries that certainly were not required to 'fit in the role', so it was the Drow who wanted that sort of luxuries. Given, it could be a personal quirk of this one, but I figured it may be something they all shared.
Obviously that theory must not hold, but I just figured it might be a clue worth following.

No you're certainly right in general that he liked niceties and that's probably true of most Drow. I was just clarifying what was going on with that since I know the Taldane wine that wasn't Taldane wine was confusing when it first came up.
