That works and guess can you give me a roll to see if I can find any of those wands with them already being in order of priority.
Silence on us would be amazing cause even though we have spellcasters we can still coordinate without speech and would assume most enemies wouldn't have that ability.
@group Think with nobility we have all the knowledge sets covered and sadly not a face person with -2 off the bat, but not sure if there are any skills we currently don't have but need.
Welcome back, Agaban! Great to have you again! I think Zaza is the default knowledge monkey for the group, which is not the worst given bardic knowledge.

Well guess I will just use my gold to buy a MW Kikko, then 2 silver and 2 cold iron daggers, and a compass.
Think that will be it unless anyone has any suggestions or there is a partial wand I can afford.
Just wondering but you can only use wands with the same class spells as your character without a use magic device check?

Shadows of Sand GM |

Pretty sure umd is required if the spell isn't on your class list.

![]() |

What I figured and don't think there are any other level 1 cleric spells we need in a wand with 2-3 divine casters. I am not sure a wand of CLW would be worth in this case over a potion and saving my gold for some other equipment upgrades at this point I think unless someone points out a spell I am overlooking since most of the attack spells are probably under-powered against level 4 enemies.
If I don't see any input from anyone else will see about entering the gameplay section tomorrow.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Sounds good.
Imo, certain items, such as wands of clw, are best as group purchases since they'll be used by the group.

Amari Al'Fahd |

Hi there Agaban good to see you.
Every spell that requires an attack roll can crit with the profile 20, x2.
The +1 Atk from Zatinya should work for the attack roll, but I don't know either whether the damage part applies too. I lean towards the yes side, since it is a) an attack-roll spell and b) you roll for damage, but that is GM territory I guess.
@Zaz: Jup, group purchases are useful and a fair thing.
I play in a group where we set aside a fair share of our budget for group purchases (or to give 'credit' in nearly-enough-for-xy situations).
We had counted group-share as simply another player when splitting the loot.
Works quite well.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Yes spells crit but they don't get damage bonuses from bardic performance. Inspire courage grants bonuses to attack rolls and weapon damage rolls.
Nice work guys. That was a CR 3 and CR 2 monster who got the drop on you guys but you still pulled it out. 350 XP each with a 25 xp bonus for being cool.

![]() |

Sorry I think after talking with Caster I was going to have gone on a religious sabbatical (maybe prior to the mission that went so wrong for you) and just returned when the superiors sent me back out to join you since we had worked together.
@caster would you want part of the orders to be a recall for (time monk) cant remember her name for a special mission so if after things settle down they could potentially rejoin?
Also, assuming I don't really get any of the xp since I was a little late to the party?

Shadows of Sand GM |

That's a good idea. That will keep things open for Ashivla in the future.
You did, in fact, get xp. :)

![]() |

Will try to post at some point today though probably will have to be after I get off work.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Ah thanks, Lo.
Sounds good, Agaban. I'm ready to move forward with the hunt whenever you guys are but I don't want to rush this important character moment. Also, Lo's still unconscious so...

Shadows of Sand GM |

From Movement.
In a day of normal walking, a character walks for 8 hours. The rest of the daylight time is spent making and breaking camp, resting, and eating.
A character can walk for more than 8 hours in a day by making a forced march. For each hour of marching beyond 8 hours, a Constitution check (DC 10, +2 per extra hour) is required. If the check fails, the character takes 1d6 points of nonlethal damage. A character who takes any nonlethal damage from a forced march becomes fatigued. Eliminating the nonlethal damage also eliminates the fatigue. It’s possible for a character to march into unconsciousness by pushing himself too hard.
8 hours of rest does lift the fatigued condition, yes. Also note
An exhausted character moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –6 penalty to Strength and Dexterity. After 1 hour of complete rest, an exhausted character becomes fatigued. A fatigued character becomes exhausted by doing something else that would normally cause fatigue.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Good thought. Let's figure out exactly how fast you guys want to move then make our rolls to see what you can do. If you're really fast, that'll be great for you, as long as you're careful. Two of these taldanes is still a tall order.

Amari Al'Fahd |

Well, I guess that we march until we're completely done for at least this day and maybe another one?
And yes, using healing spells a couple of times should keep us going even through a few failed saves.
But we should stop if we are threatened to get exhausted, since those penalties are ... really ... bad.

![]() |

Just curious since I'm sadly in the same boat as Zaza with only 2 days of rations how far is it to the next fort. Didn't realize that we were quite that low and would argue for harvesting some of the meat from the jackal then if it is more than 2 days away.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Each hex is 10 miles across so you've got about 40 miles to go. At a normal walk, you can cover 24 miles in a day. If you can make a forced march for another 5 hours, you can get there in 13 hours total. If not, it'll take 2 days, assuming things go according to plan.
As you guys might guess, this is a high-risk/high-reward mission. These Taldanes are well-built and well-equipped so if you can take them, you'll be very happy.

Shadows of Sand GM |

I'm really pleased that Looks took the endurance feat and it's paying off. I feel like that kind of thing is often hand-waved enough to not matter.
Speaking of such things, Lo, how many pounds of meat did you take? Encumbrance is a big deal in this kind of chase. I'm sure you're fine. Just want to be able to check.

Amari Al'Fahd |

Is this the type of situation where a failed check IC means: you don't think it might yield results at all, pass on, or rather: boy this is hard, I'll really need time and be left alone for a while to figure this out...
Aka, would you allow take 20 here? From an IC perspective.
If Amari thinks he could figure it out with enough time, he would very well spend hours crouching around in the sand and following near-covered tracks. (Take-20 would JUST be enough for him to succeed a dc30).

Shadows of Sand GM |

With the tracks, Amari knows the tracks led into that mess so he might take 20. The main consideration is that it Amari would be standing there looking at the tracks pretty conspicuously for at least two minutes. Up to you to judge the risk/reward there.

Amari Al'Fahd |

I am all for locking the fort up like a nun chapel when a big boat is on anchor and the men are loose in town, then figure out where they have gone.
If someone has a fancy idea for a distraction ... would be nice.
Maybe have the soldiers make a surprise attack repellent training session, located at the other side of the fort or something?

![]() |

Will see the response to my post before I do another hopefully will have a little time tomorrow. Going on vacation this weekend and having to work extra hard to get everything ready and clear off any pending work before we go.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Sure and prolonged site outages don't help.

Amari Al'Fahd |

Those orders together with the intel on troop movement would make excellent fodder for spies.
I wondered why we hunted after those guys in the first place.
How to catch mice ... set up bacon&cheese and wait for them to come to you.
Setting up a trap (e.g. by spreading rumours about some fancy magic item that is able to scry on the Talderian forces along the border maybe?) in a well-guarded place with us covered in the middle of it might do the trick just fine.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Yes no end in sight to the small guy's tracks. You chose not to pursue them alone.

Shadows of Sand GM |

My gmail is on the map so if there is ever a site outage again you can contact me and we'll arrange a back-up platform.

![]() |

Sorry for being MIA was on vacation and seemed to be a case where it was always down for maintenance when I attempted to check in but seems to be back and will catch up now...hopefully.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Yeah the site's been almost completely wrecked... seems to work now.
EVERYONE: See my email on the map? That way you can contact me if the site goes back down as you should still have access to the map on your google slides. If everyone else wants to put an email there too, we'll have a back-up. If the site goes down again, I'll probably set up a back-up gameplay thread on Discord.

![]() |

Welp this is annoying and is happening on one of my other games but the "contact us" paizo thing is blocking out the post with what is going on after Amari had Agaban heal the person.
Will try it again when I get home from the personal computer to see if I can figure out the situation, and guess I will use the Sun Metal as my CLW that I cast CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7.

Shadows of Sand GM |

That's fine, Zaza. No need to share your email. If the site goes out, I'll put a discord invite link somewhere obvious where you can see it on the map.
Sounds good, Agaban. Sorry about the technical difficulties. If it continues, I can copy posts somewhere for you short term so you can see what's happening.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Lo, you still here? I know there've been site issues but it's been weeks...

Lo'Laan Jin |

Yes I am. I was a little lost before the site issues started and my access to GDOCS is blocked from work. Kind of a perfect storm scenario I guess. Assuming the site can stay up until I get home I'll post today after checking the map.

Amari Al'Fahd |

Ahhh, there he is that small bugger!
You can hide pretty good?
So what, we have a tracker cat with a smell so good, that it will find you anywhere!
:-)

Amari Al'Fahd |

Nice call to shut down the Fort Zatinya.
If this bugger does not slip through our hands, his companions will certainly try something...
... and if he does, we need a lockdown even more...
But seeing Lo's lucky dice (two 20's in a row!) it stands to hope that we got him (or at least nearly got him).

Shadows of Sand GM |

Yeah that was pretty insane. There goes my fun combat for you guys with him sneaking from box to box and giving you big ol' non-lethal whallops...

Shadows of Sand GM |

Sorry to hear that! Thanks for letting us know. It's really helpful when we know whether or not someone will be able to post.

![]() |

No worries Zaza just everywhere else it has been "Gnome and Goblin" which I thought both were small sized creatures.
@Shadow Also, not sure if you want to allow or not was debating saying something about splitting the group 2 and 2 this morning since we have the goblin tied up with maybe keeping another guard or two to with the interrogators to keep the number at 4+ to 1.
Just cause assuming a rogue will have escape artist and since they are higher levels probably have a decent amount in that skill, and based on his stealth my vote would be Lo and Serenity staying to question but not sure if Amari or Agaban should go with Zaza, and which should stay.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Zaza's on her own for this one, plus guards. If she sends someone to fetch you, she can bring someone along but it's a long ways. The way you guys described it was she was going to check on this guy at the wall. You didn't know this would happen so she went just with the commander.
