Ors Valinstok |
Ors' backstory is up.
Valinstock is in his early 50s, with a graying short-cropped beard and silver blossoming through his dark hair from his temples. Icy blue eyes peer out from a permanent scowl, constantly scanning for danger. He is dressed in comfortable, well-worn scale mail with Erastil's bow etched into the left shoulder. A longbow and an axe cross his back. He is a man of strong principles and few words, and when he does speak, he expects his words to have an effect.
Balthazar Gruffudd |
Balthazar seems to ease back up as he gets another mead and a nice steak. Somehow he seems to be extremely proper when he eats. He puts a cloth napkin on his lap and another down his shirt front and carefully inspects the knife and fork. After a few moments he starts to cut a small piece of steak. To which he also inspects at the end of his fork, slightly turning to see all the sides; slowly he places it in his mouth and begins to chew. A smile comes acrossed his face and he cuts the rest of the steak into small pieces, places them all in his napkin, folds it carefully and then places the newly made small pouch inside his backpack. He then procceds to pore some of his mead in a small vial, cork it, then also places this in his backpack.
After he gets settled back into his stool, he orders a whole chicken pie. When it arrives he seems to be less proper about eating it. He simply just starts eating it without really looking it over.
DM Tuyena |
Hello again everyone, I have made my decisions for my players. In the end I couldn't bring myself to trim down enough and elected to take seven players up from the intended 6.
They are as follows:
Gabsen
Kertria
Lilica
Nel
Strigala
Balthazar
Volk
To everyone who was not selected thank you so much for your submissions. If any of you still wish to be considered in case we lose a player please leave a post here and I will keep it in mind.
Thank you all so much.

The only issue with Dee is she is an exact replica of one of our current party members.
Yes. That looks quite close to what you asked... all conveniently wrapped in one nice package:
(...)two players to join the party. One divine, and another with a leaning to skill monkey of some sort.
Besides, IIRC in the original recruitment Dee applied before Strigala, so technically it would be the other way around.

One divine, and another with a leaning to skill monkey of some sort.
Is this code for "we need a healer and a rogue?"
The characters tab shows 13 characters in the group, well, 12 since I can eliminate the GM.
Can the GM go and set all of the non-characters to inactive, so I can see what's actually in the group?
Volk Tulmere |
Skill monkey will never mean rogue... Ever.
And Ill Clarify
We Had
Fighter
Aetherkinetcist
Oracle
Inquisitor
Sorc
Wizard
Magus
Fighter traded out for Dwarven Fighter, Inquistor had life, Wizard Died and became the friend the wizard was carrying around. The thing we lost was the Inquisitor which is what both of the above entries have to sorta replace.

I wouldn't normally call an Inquisitor either "skill monkey" or "divine caster," so which skills do you need from the skill monkey (knowledge ones?), and what abilities do you need from the divine side? You've still got the oracle right, which most would consider a full divine caster.
You have Oracle, Fighter, and Magus all as melee characters? You still have that Aether thing? (no idea what that is, so I'll gloss over it) you still have Sorc? Blaster Sorc? Wizard is completely gone? Oh wait, you now have a Pseudodragon? Is it going to level up? Seems an awesome skills monkey race!
So boil it down for me, what is actually needed for divine/skills?
Does that group need a Bard?

Helikon wrote:Sorry but a Inquisitor can be quite a skillmonkey. 6 Skillpoints and boni to Intimidate and sense motive... that is quite enoughI'm going to have to agree with Helikon here. And if the DM wanted specifically a rogue instead of just a skills monkey I'm sure he would say that.
Super, two people, neither of whom are actually players in the game are convinced that an Inquisitor is the skill monkey needed, which of these skills are the ones needed out of this divine caster/skill monkey, since apparently Inquisitor skills are the one needing added:
Bluff, Climb, Craft, Diplomacy, Disguise, Heal, Intimidate, Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (dungeoneering), Knowledge (nature), Knowledge (planes), Knowledge (religion), Perception, Profession, Ride (Dex), Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Stealth, Survival, and Swim.
Now, for those actually in the know, because you are currently playing in the game, I'll ask again, "Does that group need a Bard?"
The Bard being a class with all of the Inquisitor skills except: Heal, Ride, Survival and Swim. And the Bard adds in: Acrobatics, Appraise, Escape Artist, Knowledge (engineering, geography, history, local, and nobility), Linguistics, Perform, and Sleight of Hand, with effectively more skill points, and the benefit of being less MAD since Versatile Performance will cause CHA to be used on some skills that normally use WIS (and effectively adds Handle Animal, and Fly to the Bard's skills list along with some "phantom" skill points) and getting 1/2 level "boni" (since we're apparently using fake Latin sounding plural words here) on all of the Knowledge skills.
It's rare that a group would sit around lamenting the lack of someone with Ride or Swim, but it's possible. If it's Heal and Survival that are needed, then possibly the Inquisitor is a better option.

It was originally part of the player's companion line and was not a free document. You can find it here
$6.99! They're pretty proud of that babe eh?

I didn't say Bard was a bad choice, only that you shouldn't be so quick to dis the inquisitor. Not to mention, it was said the the Inquisitor was one of the characters lost, so Helikon was replacing the exact thing that was taken out of the game.
Bard, Inquisitor and Rogue all seem like good choices. It's just that you made it sound like Bard was the best choice and all other choices were inferior. If you like Bard, submit a Bard, but don't dis other peoples choices, unless it is coming from the DM.
Edit: Ninjaed by Helikon.

Volk, rogues are great, and good skill based characters. A human rogue in our game at the moment can have would have 9 + INT + favoured class bonus skills at 2 ranks. If he focuses on DEX and INT skills (maybe CHA) he would be very effective. What do you mean be synergy with skills. Think what you want a rogue for. I have played rogues several times and never found it a bad choice.
Myself, I generally consider any class with 6+ skill points a level a skills based character, depending on the class skills available.
As to what class to join us, hey bard, inquisitor, ranger, slayer they all have good points.
Runa Fendinn |
Almost done, missing Backstory and equipment.
Runa is a melee Combatant, ready to stand proud with axe and shield, as a rock to lean on.
She excells at Perception, Sense motive and Survival, and is also a skilled tracker. I can change her a bit to add Disable device if so needed.
She will gain an animal companion at level 4 and will specialise in Buff and restorative spells.
