Agh. My bad. I should have checked more carefully when profile toothcombing. I don't think you even listed it there, which might be one reason why you've never used it.

MAP

Brujo - OA on Creeper 2
Leo
Cronin
Snaggletooth

OA 1d20+8=22; Damage 1d8+2=6 cold damage

Brujo's swordsmanship bloodies Creeper 2.

MAP

Leo is up
Cronin
Snaggletooth

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Cronin, seeing Fairwind's plight, steps back next to her and blasts the creeper she can't see.

Sacred Flame vs C2 Ref (1d20+6=26, 1d6+6=10)
Crit damage (1d6=4)

Shift to E5. Crit C2 for 16, Fairwind gets to make a save

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

Rolled a 10. Who's the daddy? Er, mommy.

"Gee, thanks preacher. I see the light!"

MAP

Leo is up
Cronin
Snaggletooth

Leo shifts one square To H-4 and calling upon his faith unleashes a Piercing Smite upon his foe C3.

"Kelemvor sends his regards!" Leo hollers as his blade glitters with silvery light and as he slashes at his foe it passes briefly through his foe before fading once more.

Rolled a 17+8 for 25 and +2 from flanking by Brujo I believe for a total of 27 versus C3's Reflex which if it hits does 2d8+4 damage rolling a 5+3+4 for 12pts of damage.

Leo demolishes Creeper 3 with one easy stroke of his blade and the creature explodes into blackness, blinding him as well as Commander Caine and Brujo.

Cronin's effort is followed by a cautious step backwards and while he has damaged Creeper 2 horribly, it yet lives. Snaggletooth darts in and out doing no damage at all, but still looking hopefully at Cronin for acknowledgment. "Stupid big things standing in the way" he says smugly as his own ability to shift gets him out of range.

Creeper 3 is dead. Brujo, Caine and Leo are blinded (save ends). They cannot see any target or provide flanking and they give combat advantage. Fairwind made her save courtesy of Cronin and can see again.

MAP

Perigia is up
Fairwind

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

Perigia casts Magic Missile at the last creeper. 1d20+5=20 vs. Ref, 2d4+4=10 damage.

"That's for my friends," she shouts at the creeper.

Save to end Blindness 1d20=20

Perigia's missile downs the last creeper, but the exploding darkness blinds Fairwind again.

Which luckily doesn't matter too much as you're out of combat, so I'll assume you've all managed to make your saves.

What next mighty ones?

EDIT

208 XP for creepers and nifty trap disablement. You are all on 3280XP. 500 to level 4.

"Just how I planned to spend my day," Brujo rubs his eyes as his vision returns, "In a desecrated shrine of Kelemvor. Being blind by the the residue of dark creepers...Just great."

He sighs, sheathes his blade and rest for minute.

"So what's next"

As his vision returns, Caine is pleasantly surprised to discover that the carnage is finished. "I knew you guys could do it. Good work." He says by way of compliment.

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

"Truer words have not been spoken." Cronin returns to inspecting the damage to the altar.

The damage to the altar is spiteful, but superficial. It would be easy enough to clean off the black and purple additions. Reconsecration would be another and more difficult matter, which I'll have to check in the PHB and DM guides, but if you wish to, you can certainly tidy it up.

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Cronin defers to Leo on the matter of the altar.

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

It's whatever you decide, I think. There doesn't seem to be anything set in stone, DM.

OK then. I think you need a full blown cleric of Kelemvor to reconsecrate and a lot of rather expensive ingredients, neither of which you have with you. The ritual will require several hours of work.

If you want to do it, you'd be better off talking to Allendi next time you are back at the monastery and go from there.

What now?

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

"I doubt this is the last of the suprises that this place holds for us," Perigia says. "We should be on our guard." With that she heads for the far door and gets ready to continue trying to save the tower from the Creepers.

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Did the creepers leave anything behind when they exploded?

The creepers left only their dark cloaks - which can only be worn by Snaggletooth - and 9 daggers.

Snaggletooth leaps gleefully on the daggers, before sidling up to Fairwind.

"You can have your dagger back now."

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Cronin piles the cloaks in a corner. "We'll burn these later," he explains, ignoring any protest from Snaggletooth.

"Snaggletooth, you did good work there. But just how many daggers does one sneaky kobold need?"

"Lots."

The kobold looks reproachfully at Cronin. "I can be a creeper for you if I have a cloak."

"Don't . . . say that.

"The creepers are creatures of darkness -- if you had any doubt, we have just seen that. You, I have hope for, and am trusting you with weapons."

His tone softening, he goes on. "Sneaky kobolds don't need help to creep around, do they?"

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

"Gee, thanks." Fairwind says with irony.

"Be wary, that creeper was scared of something either on that door or behind it," Leo tries to gesture towards the door the creeper chose to stop rather than approach.

15 on first save, yaah! now if only next time I can avoid blinding the rest of the party when I do that!

You've all saved against the blindness by now. If we were playing face to face, I'd make you roll for it, but I'm not going to do that in a pbp. You've also taken a short rest and recharged your encounter powers. Note any healing surges you've used in your profiles and tell me when you're ready to go on.

Through the next door bold ones?

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Yep

The iron grille creaks open, revealing an elegant, vaulted chamber. The elegance is somewhat marred by the random placement of coffins, boxes and barrels, but there is a clear focal point. A throne-like chair has been placed centrally and upon it, apparently awaiting your arrival with equanimity, is a pale, dark-haired figure. Clad in blackened leather armour, he holds a mace in one hand and a glowing holy symbol in the other.

"My dear friends. Your arrival has been highly anticipated. It has been a weary age since guests worthy of my attention presented themselves within these walls."

He rises to his feet, all sinuous grace. As he speaks, you realise that the teeth in the aristocratic face are rather too pronounced, the gaze unnaturally bright. Here indeed is a foe worthy of your steel.

Oh yes, knew I'd forgotten something. Roll init please chaps. EDIT. And tell me where you are.

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

"Oh great." Fairwind swears in Elven.

Can I reach L8?

Commander Caine wrote:

If you double move you can get to J8. You can get to L8 if you run, but that means you're attacking at -5. In either case, you'd be double moving, although you do have an AP at your disposal.

If I use the AP, I can reduce the penalty to -3 because of the +2 for Charge, right?

Commander Caine wrote:

Yes. You'd just be at -3.

Post later; Leaving the office.

Rolled for Leo and placed him on the map in what seems like a reasonable position. Please feel free to amend in your next post Leo.

Cronin
Fairwind

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Cronin snarls and holds out his own holy symbol, which glows silver. "Back to the darkness with you!"

Religion check on holy symbol; Cascade of Light vs Will, radiant damage, half on miss (1d20+6=11, 1d20+6=11, 3d8+6=26) <sigh> 13hp radiant for the miss. What holy symbol is that on an 11?

Attack Roll 1d20+5=25, Damage 1d10+5=15

Thunder Damage 1d8=5

"This ends now!" Caine races across the open floor and charges the enemy.

Using AP of course.

Total damage vs. enemy = 20

Woops, meant Q13.

Caine charges recklessly across the chamber, bringing his greatsword down on the foe in a vicious swinging arc. The vampire seems mildly startled as the blow cuts him. Cronin follows up with a cascade of divine light which causes the pallid skin to wrinkle and burn more than the damage seems to warrant. Yes, he's vulnerable to radiant damage.

Cronin recognises the holy symbol as belonging to Bane. If there was any doubt that this was a being a deep evil, it is dispelled by that knowledge.

An elegant eyebrow raises slightly. "Discourteous"
The fingers steeple gently together and he prepares to rise.
"It is possible this will be amusing after all, however rude your introduction."

I would gladly post an updated map if I could get Photobucket to behave itself, but so far, it's refusing to cooperate. Herewith, therefore the coordinates for you all at present. I'll get the map up for you as soon as I can.

Caine - G7
Cronin - P15
Fairwind - P16
Leo - Q15
Brujo - N15
Barthus - F6 for practical purposes
Perigia - Q13
Snaggletooth - Q14
