No apology needed. I should have been on the lookout and I didn't spot it.

Brujo pulls out his sleeping bag, placing himeself as far from the tombs as possible, and makes himself comfortable.

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

Perigia lays her bedroll out as well and then casts light on a small pile of pebbles near the center of the room.

Rev, I have added a short bio for Perigia to her profile.

Cronin makes his usual nightly prayers for the grace of Selune, with particular attention to hoping the dead will now stay at rest.

Snaggletooth watches you all carefully as you prepare for rest and shakes his head.

"Sneaky kobolds set watches," he points out with mild reproof in his voice, before continuing, "I shall watch. If anything wakes up I will kick someone bigger than me awake." His beady eyes glance thoughtfully at Commander Caine.

Perigia

Spoiler:

Thanks for the back story. It's helpful and suggestive of a few interesting links I can build in for you.

Sorry been a little out of sorts of late, Leo's used up all of his lay of hands ability only realised I made a mistake with the no of times he can use it so an extended rest would be best

Sorry to hear things aren't good for you. Take care. Don't fret overmuch with mistakes like the Lay On Hands thing. We all make them - me particularly - and in this case an extended rest is a good idea anyway.

Watch proposal -- 3-hour shifts:
1) Cronin, Brujo, Snaggletooth
2) Caine, Perigia
2) Leo, Fairwind

Unless anyone is unhappy with that plan, I'll go with it.

Snaggletooth spends the first part of his watch sitting silently, but after an hour or so, creeps up to Cronin and Brujo and whispers to them.

Cronin/Brujo

Spoiler:

"Are these little houses full of dead things?". His eyes are rolling a bit at the prospect and he looks down at the floor. "Sneaky is good for kobolds, but dead things scare us. And we are very brave."

Another slight pause. "Should we look?"

Cronin/Snaggletooth

Spoiler:

At the suggestion Brujo gives the kobold cold, dead stare.

"Leave the dead be", he says in an unemotional voice. "There a few things worse than rousing the dead."

He leans in a bit "If you even think about looking..." Brujo trails off as if he knows he's overstepped his place. The rest of his watch he glares at snaggletooth.

Intimidate 1d20+1=18 vs. Snaggletooth's Will

Cronin/Brujo

Spoiler:

Snaggletooth crumples under the force of Brujo's glare. "No, no, no, no, no... just don't want dead things creeping up on us. Don't like them. Don't like them at all," he chitters quietly. "Just like you?" he finishes with a hopeful look of comradeship.

Friends, my laptop just broke down and I am still in the process of putting things back together. So don't worry if I go under the radar.

That's not good. I'll keep the Commander functioning for you. Let us know when technology is your friend again.

Despite Snaggletooth's misgivings, the night is undisturbed and you rise in the morning surprisingly refreshed and feeling empowered. A new day of danger lies ahead, perhaps with the Tower itself at the end of it.

You have fully recharged hp and surges, all powers are in place and you can use the new stuff. 1 AP each. What would you like to do now?

MAP - just a reminder of what the place looks like when it's not crawling with enemies.

"So do we search the place or continue on?" Leo asks taking a good look around wondering if searching the place was worth the risk and possibly displeasing his god since these might house those who didn't deserve the scrutiny their undead brethren had wrought on their place of rest.

Fairwind you back up to full?

"We should leave. Let the dead rest, and keep their 'memories'"

Brujo stretches, grabbing his gear and sword. He gives one last glare to the kobold, and then Leo for even mentioning searching.

Everybody is. Extended rest (6 hours) is a complete reset (except for diseases)

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

"We need not disturb these souls further. They are in Kelemvor's hands now. Let us proceed.

"Snaggletooth, do sneaky kobolds know what lies to the west?"

"We are nearly at the Tower I think. But this is a new tunnel for me. No traps." There is distinct disapproval in his tone.

Leaving the mausolea unmolested, the iron grille on the western wall opens onto a short stretch of fetid corridor. This widens enough for you to walk four abreast and deposits you outside a further iron grille.

Peering through you can see something that looks like a funerary chapel. The ancient pews here are battered and collapsing and an antique curtain covers the full length of the western wall. In front of it stands an alter, which Leo immediately recognises as having been dedicated to Kelemvor. The entire party realises that this altar has been crudely desecrated and that two large braziers have been lit on either side of the eastern door.

MAP

Having just seen Kruelaid's maps for Dead Reckoning, I'm wildly jealous and wish very much I could provide something equally fabulous for you all.

"Be prepared. Those who did this may still linger."

Laptop operational.

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

Perigia looks around and tries to get a sense of what has happened. "Do you thinke the creepers did this?" she says to no one in particular.

Perigia is at G14

Positions would indeed be helpful at this point. No init as yet.

Snaggletooth shouts to Perigia, and smacks his hand over his mouth and nose, "Don't breath!" before dashing towards the curtain. The genasi's eyes are drawn to the brazier and she stands gazing at the roiling smoke as though hypnotised.

Perigia is dazed. Save ends. The braziers are pumping out smoke which will daze you all if you get within 5 squares. I've cut my own throat with this one as Snaggletooth being a kobold gets +2 to spot traps and has high perception anyway. The little blighter isn't on my side any more. Sigh. He's at K7.

I9, please.

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Cronin dashes through the mist, holding his breath. H7

Boy did I step in it. 1d20=18 Yeah me! I could extinguish the braziers but I would have to get within 2 squares and I don't want to get dazed again.

J16 please

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

J-14 please

Leo is now looking furious at the debacle before him whoever desecrated a shrine to Kelemvor was about to discover that was a seriously bad idea...

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

J15.

This look right to everyone?

What next?

Is it possible to destroy the braziers?

You can tip them over, but that won't stop them smoking. If you've got water, you can extinguish them, but of course you'd have to be next to them to do that. Or you can come up with a cunning plan and run it past me of course.

Not really water, but my blade and chilling blow deal cold damage and the description says it coats the target in ice and frost.

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

Ice melts and becomes water. Brrrilliant.

Works for me as an acceptable cunning plan :D What's the range?

I realise that cunning though the plan is, you'd still need to be next to the brazier to use the power. Further suggestions are welcome.

The group stands nervously in the chapel as Brujo contemplates putting out the coals in the braziers.

Arcana 1d20+12=24; See if I have a clue about deactivating them or atleast guess the range of there effect.

Brujo concentrates hard. He realises that the smoke effect extends to a five square radius around each brazier, so the party should be safe if they stay in the middle of the room. Water will certainly deactivate them as the coal and the braziers are not magical themselves. Only the herbs sprinkled on them gives off an arcane taint.

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

Perigia murmors a few arcane words and casts Ray of Frost at each of the braziers. 1d20+5=13, 1d20+5=19 to hit.

The spell description says that it is a ray of cold, I'm hoping that by making the braziers cold it will snuff out the fire by removing the heat.

With two swift gestures, Perigia deactivates the braziers. The smoke dissipates rapidly and the party are in no further danger from them.

Brujo smiles and gives a nod to Perigia for her quick thinking.

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

"Good thinking."

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

"Thank you," Perigia says as she blushes slightly. "I just wish I hadn't had to be a victim of them before discovering they were dangerous."

A nifty piece of work in disabling the braziers. Knocking them over would only have spread the dazing smoke. Where to now folks?

"Any ideas on which god they're trying to dedicate this shrine to?" Leo asks.

Roll 5+6 for 11 on a religion check since if you're descrating a shrine its usually so it can be dedicated to another which might give us a clue on whats ahead

Both Leo and Cronin realise that the altar has not been re-dedicated, but the black and purple colour scheme of the desecrating paint makes them both flinch back. Shar's agents are at work.

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

"Leo, I will aid you as I can," Cronin says softly.

Caine joins Cronin and Leo, "So what do we have here?"

"Worshippers of Shar," Cronin answers in a tone that makes the phrase a curse.

"Odd why leave the braziers burning unattended unless they've really slipped up..." Leo mutters taking a good look round as he takes a few steps forward.

"I really don't need to say be careful here," Leo breathed as he brought his guard up.

Rolled a natural 20 for his Perception check (So that's 20+7 for 27 if that part matters!) as he looks around for either hidden foes or traps other than the braziers' Perigia's dealt with as he'll continue heading forward towards the altar to remove the raiments of Shar from it
