Nah.. not going anywhere. At least as long as Rob will still have me =p. The other thing that has been keeping me busy is that my wife and I will be having our first child! So that's great news. But I'm also trying to take care of her, so that's coming first. Anyhow, no excuses. I'll drum up something as soon as I get some creative juices flowing.

Rogath Silvertarn |

I just realized that all my forum games hit a lull around the same time, at the same time that work was picking up, so I fell out of the habit of watching for updates.
I'm back now, or at least as back as I was. I don't know that I'd say I'll be all that active until after the holiday season, but I'll try my best.

Thanks for bearing with me during this super busy month, guys! I'm updating all my PbPs right now :)
I've forwarded you up to the middle of the second day, around noon, because you got an interesting random encounter as you were reaching your destination and I thought you might want to investigate some. I'm updating the map now with the results that your scouting party will deliver to you that night.

Dr. Logem, Ph.Dwarf |

Hey guys, sorry about my absense! I had stuff get in the way IRL that prevented me from hopping on. I hope I didn't cause too many delays >.<
I'm going to be reviewing what I missed and I'll see if I can get a post up either tonight or early tomorrow. Sorry again for not giving you guys a heads up!

Dr. Logem, Ph.Dwarf |

So, to help myself get back into the 'Dr. Logem' mood earlier, I decided to fire up Dwarf Fortress - found a nice location with Limonite, Limestone, and Native Gold on the surface (No coal yet >.<), and I'm up to 16 dwarves, nearing the end of winter, when lo' and behold: I forgot I had the Fortress Defense mod installed.
I get a siege of a dozen and a half Dark Stranglers (Small, four-armed, three-eyed beasties with a penchant for wrestling). Now, luckily I had been preparing my defenses anyways, as any good DF'er would do. I had a single hallway filled with weapon traps, each having a single iron serrated disk. I also had one single soldier, my Commander decked out in relatively plain iron armor with a matching battle axe and shield. He's more of a teacher than anything else, so he's not very skilled. I have him stationed in the room with the traps.
A numbskull that he is, he charges the Stranglers as soon as they enter the trapped hallway - and somehow leads them OUT of the hallway and out into the open again. Only one strangler lost a few limbs from the traps and succumbed shortly after from blood loss. Now fighting without a chokepoint or traps to help him, the Commander (Sigun Steelmurders - totally a randomized name) loses his left arm at the shoulder. I'm still trying to figure how he lost it, as I can't see anything in the combat log of him losing it. So he's now running around without an arm, having only killed two or three stranglers. One by chopping it in the neck, another by disembowlment. So, not wanting to lose my commander and his teaching skill, I send out the fortress's four migrants who have yet to fit themselves into a job beyond hauling. They go out of the fortress to attack the stranglers completely stark-naked, because 1), I only have enough armor for the Commander, and 2) I have the armor set to "Replace Clothing" rather than be worn "Over Clothing". So upon being drafted, they drop their pants and charge outside.
They all die. Surprise surprise. However, they distract the Stranglers enough to not only get a few hits in to demoralize the stranglers, but also to allow the Commander to get a few more nicks in with his axe. After everyone but the commander is dead, I figure he's screwed, and start thinking about either recruiting more soldiers or allowing the remaining stranglers to try their hand at my trapped hallway again.
The Commander has a different plan. Having only one arm left (His axe arm), he goes into a trance and, though he scores no more kills, does enough damage to make the remaining Stranglers flee, ending the siege.
He then goes and grabs a bite to eat and resumes training. His ear is broken, his left arm is gone, and he's esctatic that he got to take joy in slaughter recently. In fact, the entire fortress remains esctatic. They really love that dining hall with the three gold statues.
*Edit:* Oh. Thats how he lost his arm. One of the Dark Stranglers, the leader, was riding a War Polar Bear. It bit him in the arm and ripped it off, after shaking him around like a rag doll.
In fact, the War Polar Bear is the one who killed all of the migrants. Somehow, the bear even bit one of the migrants by the tongue and shook him around by it, before ripping it off.
.....I have screen shots to prove it.

Hi All!
Just to give you guys a heads-up, I'm super busy because of the holidays and haven't been on the Internet outside of my phone in a few days. I'll be delayed in updating things till this weekend, most likely, though if I manage to steal a little time here and there I will!
I hope you all had an excellent week! :D
As a Christmas Gift to the groups I'm GMing for, you've each received a present of your choice, contained behind the spoiler! Just let me know which one you'll be taking in a reply to this message, and don't forget to mark it on your character sheet!
Ruins of Christmas?
Ruins of Pathfinder: Christmas Gifts!
Choose One!
You have discovered a Harrow card. Roll 1d54 and you will recieve a random Harrow Card as a boon. This Harrow Card will give you one permanent randomized effect (some good, some bad, others neutral) as well as a supernatural ability that you can use 1/day.
You are destined for greatness. Within you has awakened an untapped pool of power that sets you apart from others.
You gain access to hero points. You begin play with 3 hero points and gain 1 hero point (never above a maximum of 3) at each new level. You may also take hero point related feats and spells.
A long-dormant source of eldritch power has found itself awakened in you. Be it from a distant ancestor or a gift from a divine patron, this power feels intuitive and natural to use.
Choose one 1st-level spell. You may use this spell as a spell-like ability 3 times per day with a caster level equal to your character level. The DC for these spell-like abilities is 10 + spell level + your Charisma modifier.
Alternately, if you are a spellcaster, you may add this spell to your spells known (if you are a spontaneous caster) or spellbook/class spell list (if you are a prepared caster.)
You've pushed yourself to the limit and have gained greatly for your efforts.
You gain a +1 inherent bonus to one of your ability scores, or a bonus feat that you meet the prerequisites for.

Hey guys! Wanted to pop in and let you know I'm running a blog of personal Pathfinder design insights over here if you're interested!

Dr. Logem, Ph.Dwarf |

I'm going to be taking a bonus feat for Logem: Extra Discovery (Vestigal Arm), allowing me to get one more discovery further towards Parasitic Twin - which will be represented in-game by Dr. Logem implanting his brother's mutated organs into his body.
He won't be waving his new arm around all willy-nilly, though particularly perceptive dwarves may notice a new lump in his coat. ;)

Dwunderbran Vulgarbeard |

Eh, sod it. I'll just go ahead and do the Harrow Card. Maybe I'll end up paraplegic and related to a cheese grater.
1d54 ⇒ 42

Rogath Silvertarn |

Hmm. I want to say I'll take intense training, but I don't remember what type of bonus the +1 from the kraken was, and whether it'll stack with this one or not (as I'd like to increase my Int again)
Inherent bonuses may or may not stack. They're weird, since the usual way to get them is wish spells. Normally, they only stack if you cast the wishes in rapid succession.
As for me, I'll take the Harrow card of course, as I'm sure Rob expected.
1d54 ⇒ 43
Hmm. I know what Dwunderbran and I would have drawn using my usual methods, but that doesn't mean Rob's using the same ones, or say anything about what the associated ability is. I will say that I hope his card didn't go back into the deck before I drew mine, though. :p

![]() |

Quint
The +1 from the Kraken is an inherent bonus as well, which will not stack with the inherent bonus from the Christmas reward.
Dwunderbran
Through the power of the Harrow, you have recieved the blessing of the Tangled Briar.
Rogath
You have drawn the Teamster, but the power of this card will not be revealed until the next time you sleep.
Everyone Else
Please choose your Christmas gift before making your next gameplay post!

Ooh I like Dwunderbran's ability. We should totally use that to train our soldiers. Free experience! Though at our level, it might be wise not to use it just yet..
I wonder if we could somehow capture them and use them as a sort of emergency defense once we get our fortress set up? Dwunderbran pisses off Nature, spawns 1d4+2 Advanced Shambling Mounds - they chase him into a trapped area, allowing us to capture them. We then find a way to rig a trap that frees them in the midst of attackers.
Unless, of course, they pursue Dwunderbran indefinitely and not focus on any other target. In which case, we could try and charm them instead - or use them for hauling cargo, with Dwunderbran being dangled in front them like a carrot on a stick. They would be secured to the wagons in that case.
If they only focus on Dwunderbran, I wonder if we could use an illusion of Dwunderbran to entice them?
We must find a way to use this to our advantage!

A very Dwarf Fortress way to do it.

Hrm... ok, so the +1 CHA won't stack with the same stat as the one from the Kracken.
In that case, continuing with the role of being "diplomatic" and "leadership" I am going to take Magic Inheritance: The I will go with the supernatural ability x3 a day and the spell I will take will be [i]honeyed tongue from the paladin list. The +5 bonus to Diplomacy is right up Mineko's alley. Rob you good with that?

Quint Bonechisel |

Mannn I don't knoooow. :p Too much good stuff. Kind of a bummer I can't increase my int, so I'm going to stick with Intense Training and even out my skills a bit with the Prodigy feat. +2 to Craft (Locks) and Perform (Percussion). It was either that or Skill Focus: Spellcraft.
Sorry about not getting a gameplay post up earlier Rob. Quint is definitely interested by this discovery, but ya know... christmas

Hey I was in the same boat, hah! I had a lot going on this Holiday season.

Quint Bonechisel |

So Quint was trying to suggest there that Dwunder, Rogath, Angrin, and Dakun try and track the wagon's origin and/or destination and rendezvous with the main group while they continue on. It's that or we break a group of NPCs off and send them on the same task, or else finish travelling and then come back and follow it (when it'll be even colder than it already is).

Dwunderbran Vulgarbeard |

It has been over a month since Winwaar (Angrin) has made a post on any of his profiles. Unless someone has heard from him, I'm thinking he's out of the PbP arena.

A heads-up to you all, I'll be attending Paizocon 2014 in Seattle this coming year. If you're in the Seattle area from July 3rd - 6th I'll gladly meet up :)

Mineko Yamauchi |

Well my friends... I am going away on business. I won't be able to access the pazio forums for a while. Rob is going to send me updates via e-mail and we will try to see if I can incorporate my posts via e-mail for the time being being. I won't be able to play off of you much, but hopefully I can still contribute. If things don't workout via e-mail then Rob will DMNPC me. I'll check in when I can.

Dakún Rabbúhamash |

Too much snow and end of year / new year work. It's cold outside, but I hope to return to my more regular posting rate back in early October now. I can't decide on the Christmas gift. I see advantages for all of them.
The harrow card could be interesting, especially since I seem to remember Dakún Rabbúhamash having been left with a card from way earlier in the campaign. Alternatively, increasing an ability score could be of use to me as well given that I raised intelligence with the Kraken and could easily bump dexterity for extra bonuses. Lastly, Mage Armor as a spell-like ability would be pretty amazing and I could easily weave the RP flavor that it is the spirit(s) granting him protection.
Thoughts and suggestions?
Let's see what the random fates think... 1d3 ⇒ 1
1) Harrow
2) Ability Score
3) Ghostly Mage Armor

DM Crustypeanut |

Heh, these dwarves we found are just like butchered traders you'd see in DF, their mangled corpses left to rot out in the wilderness. I have seen it happen to my caravans so many times.. and woe when it happens near a Necromancer. >.<
Too bad DF doesn't have any uses for Sulfur yet.
I'm surprised that no keas have flown off with the wagon yet though.
But theres time enough to encounter that.

Dakún Rabbúhamash |

I will go with the Mage Armor spell like ability. It is extremely useful and will provide my character with extra defensive abilities. Part of me really wanted to go with the Tarot, but the random nature of the Tarot and the chance of it being a negative effect discouraged me - I know my luck.

![]() |

Make a decision regarding your next steps. Will you be staying to fix the wagon and retrieve the sulfur? Or will you have the settlers distribute the sulfur among themselves and carry it. If you are repairing the wagon, who is staying behind to assist in fixing it?
Are you going to stay on the course you intended to follow, or divert to see where the wagon came from?

Maven Brewbane |

Well, I figure with any extra hands and liberal use of mending, a few hours, tops. If it was like a ship or something, that'd be awhile, but a wagon isn't so bad.
Hey. Waitaminute!
I could use this wagon to start implementing my mobile archer tower design!
Have to do it in stages, of course. Don't have EVERYTHING I need just yet, but the thought is still exciting.
