I was out of town this weekend, and didn't have a lot of time to post (or work on the alley witch).
It looks like Tilnar/Garrick has dropped off the boards--the last time he posted in any of his games was early March. Let's bot him for the rest of the manor, at least, and then see where we are.

Apollonia Vigilanium |

That's too bad, I liked Garrick. Hope he's ok.

Apollonia Vigilanium |

Thank god, that place sucked. Yay level up!
I'll go back through the posts and update the loot list today or tomorrow. I just realized I already did that in February. Go me. :)
Does anybody know someone looking for a RotR game or should we do a general recruitment to replace Garrick?

Apollonia Vigilanium |

DM, is there time to craft replacement alchemical items?

DM Carbide |

That depends on whether you think that finding out more about "Xanesha" is a priority. The letter from her certainly implied that Aldern's ritual killings were in service to a larger plan, which may or may not stop with his elimination.
About how much time would you need?

Apollonia Vigilanium |

OK let's see:
1d20 ⇒ 16
Alchemist's Fire
20gp = 200sp
Craft check (rolled 16 +20 mod) 36 x DC 20 = 720sp x2 for Swift Alchemy = 1440sp
=7 alchemist's fire in a week
Antiplague
50gp = 500sp
(assuming I can just use the one Craft check roll) 36 x DC 25 = 900 x2 = 1800
=3 antiplague in a week
I just saw that if you'll allow the Unchained rules for Crafting then at 5 ranks of Crafting she could double her Craft check result before multiplying by the DC.
So to replace 3 alchemist's fires and 1 antiplague would take her 5 days (1 day each for the AF and 2 days for the antiplague). Or 3 days (2 for the AF and 1 for the antiplague) if you'll allow the Unchained rule for having 5 ranks.
I'm not sure if the rule for crafting magic items while adventuring applies to alchemical items but if it does she might be able to do some of this on the road to Magnimar, it would just double how long it takes.

DM Carbide |

I'll probably come to regret this <g>, but go ahead and use the Unchained rule. No working while traveling, though...having been a professional lab rat, stopping partway through a chemical operation and carrying the reagents somewhere else before restarting the process offends my inner simulationist.

Apollonia Vigilanium |

Thanks! I mean, it's crafting alchemical items. They're useful but not particularly impactful. Appreciate the flexibility.

DM Carbide |

Vidar and Andrezi, let me know when you're leveled up.

Andrezi Zeldana |

+1 Cleric Level
+7 HP
+1 BAB, Fort, Reflex, and Will Saves
+2 skills for class, +1 for human, +1 for favored class = 4 Ranks + 2 Background skills
+1 Diplomacy, Heal, Sense Motive, Knowledge (Religion)
+1 Knowledge (Geography), Profession (Fortuneteller)
+1 2nd level and 3rd level spells prepared.

DM Carbide |

Remember that HP are (half base die) + d(half base die), so for Nia and Andrezi it's d4+4.

DM Carbide |

FYI, I'll be traveling for work this next week. I may be able to post from my phone in the evenings, though, and I have the scenario on my work laptop (don't tell anyone!).

Apollonia Vigilanium |

Hey, DM. Looking at the loot list I see some unidentified magic items. Can we OOC handwave and get those identified off-screen so we can put them on sheets or sell them?
Redshiv's magical hat
Aldern's magic leather armor
Aldern's magic ring 1
Aldern's magic ring 2
Aldern's magic mask
Aldern's magic war razor
Mithral tube

DM Carbide |

Sure, I'll get that for you.

DM Carbide |

Thanks for your patience, all--I got sick on travel, came back early, and spent a couple of days in hospital. I'm feeling OK except for being utterly wiped out most of the time, and should be able to catch up over the next day or so. (My work is being rather vehement about not coming back until at a minimum I've been checked by my doctor, and that won't happen until early next week. My followup with the surgeon will be late next week, so things may have to wait until then.)

DM Carbide |

Redshiv's magical hat hat of disguise
Aldern's magic leather armor +1 leather armor
Aldern's magic ring 1 ring of jumping
Aldern's magic ring 2 ring of protection +1
Aldern's magic mask stalker's mask
Aldern's magic war razor +1 war razor
Mithral tube chime of opening, 5 charges remaining

DM Carbide |

Vidar are you still with us?

Apollonia Vigilanium |

I think sell the armor, ring of jumping, stalker's mask (useful but gross), and war razor. That would net us 5680.8gp to split (=1420.2 each + probably give the ring of protection to Garrick).
Nia would love to take the Hat of Disguise and Chime of Opening but if we sell those too that gets us to 8560.8 to split (=2140.2 each + probably give the ring to Garrick).

DM Carbide |

We seem to have lost our wizard, as well. Andrezi and Nia, do you two want to continue?

Andrezi Zeldana |

Happy to continue, but I understand if you want to call it rather than recruiting two new players.

Apollonia Vigilanium |

I really like Nia and would love to continue but understand if you would prefer to call this one done. I know what it's like to lose a bunch of PCs and feel like the game is slowly dying. Wouldn't hold it against you.

DM Carbide |

OK, do either of you know anyone who'd be interested? I'm reluctant to do an open recruitment.

Apollonia Vigilanium |

I'll ask my usual suspects and other games.

DM Carbide |

Good to hear! Don't forget to level up.

Wojciech Borisovich |

Greetings. I got a build idea for a tank/shield bash specialist and couldn't let go. Lol. Build is done (pretty sure), please let me know if there's any errors.
Only potential hangup (I think) is Prodigious Two Weapon Fighting, which is 3PP... Let me know if I should change that.

DM Carbide |

Thanks for joining us! Two comments: first, the party just hit 6th level, so plan your build accordingly; and 2) since no one else is using 3PP, I would prefer you didn't either.

Wojciech Borisovich |

Got it, thanks. I've adjusted the build to Level 6, and removed the 3PP. Ironically, he gained AC by not buying Adamantine plate. lol.
I've left his background vague, so he can show up in either Sandpoint or Magnamar, depending on what works best for the group.

DM Carbide |

Something that nags at me unreasonably is the usual way that new people join an existing party (and I'm guilty of this, too). I mean, you have a group of people who've been working together in mortal peril--are they going to just take anyone who shows up? They've learned the hard way that they can rely on each other when things go sideways, and extending that level of trust to a stranger, sight unseen, is hard to believe.
With that in mind, I think the best way for you to join the party is to have known at least one member before--in this case Nia.
Wojciech left Absalom by sea (as one does), hired as a guard for a merchant ship that hugged the north coast of the Inner Sea on its way from port to port. There were a few minor skirmishes on the way, just to demonstrate the wisdom of having capable guards, but nothing serious. When the merchant vessel reached Corentyn, she turned back to hug the southern coast on the way back to Absalom. The fighter found another merchant vessel that was sailing to Magnimar by way of Hermea, and again earned his keep in fights against Nidalese raiders and the occasional pirate. In Magnimar, he quickly found a job working as a bodyguard for an investigator. It was steady work and paid the bills. The investigator, however, took on an assignment that looked like it was going to involve traveling to Brevoy, and given his history in the region Wojciech was a little reluctant to accompany him.
By an amazing coincidence, though, the investigator's daughter (who you'd met a few times before she left for a place called Sandpoint) returned to Magnimar in the company of a couple of adventurers, and she was looking for a competent fighter. It wouldn't be bodyguard work, but adventuring generally had rewards commensurate with risk.
Nia, you know Wojciech from his work for your father, and you remember him being pretty capable.
Sound reasonable?

Apollonia Vigilanium |

Makes sense to me!

DM Carbide |

Let me know when you're ready to move on, then. Do Andrezi and Vidar want to do anything while Nia is making alchemical items?

DM Carbide |

Once Vidar is leveled up, we'll move on.

Vidar Ekstrand |

I really have got to check the ooc thread more often...

DM Carbide |

I'll be traveling for most of the next three weeks, and may or may not have my laptop with. Even if I do, posting will likely be slow.

Andrezi Zeldana |

I will be out of the country for the next two weeks and will have limited access to the site. Please bot me as needed to keep the game moving along.
