I'm still here, just a bit busy with real life. Will probably have time for my post later this Saturday.

I'm still here.

The main reason for not posting is there is very little to do from Ronah's point of view.

She's not one for talking to strangers without a decent reason and she's still getting used to being back on Golarion as well (she's been stuck in the Feywild for a few years).

Irisa is the kind of person to talk to and engage mysterious strangers. That tries to pull people along with her. Unfortunately she chose to go chasing after butterflies for now, so all these interesting people have to wait...

Happy Monday folks, new gameplay post coming shortly.

Garrick's question brings to mind something I asked earlier. Will you be adjusting for us being more than planned for in the book? Fights will of course be of varying difficulty, but if nothing is adjusted, we might end up finding that more fights than not are easy. Of course it does take some more work to do so and you're already doing so much for us. :)

Yes, I am planing to make adjustments but I'm still familiarizing myself with the AP and reviewing suggestions.

Just a quick note on the counters that appear on the monster pawns. The blue circle in bottom left corner will be the identifier when there is more than one of a creature type. The red circle in top right corner will denote amount of damage the creature has received (not the creature's remaining hitpoints).

Sounds good.

Quick note - I'm stuck in meetings for a few more hours but will try to get an update in place later today.

I'm guessing you don't have time to play on weekends Degwyn?

Depends on the weekend and the amount of chaos that shows up.

Thanks for catching that, will adjust for next time initiative is rolled.

With one and a half day or more between actions, every round can take nearly a week... Would be nice if we could find a way to avoid waiting so much...

Yay! Looks like forums are finally back. I'll update the gameplay thread tonight.

Hello everyone! Posting to inform you that, just in time for the boards' return from the dead, I'll be traveling abroad until September 5th. I will try to check in when possible, but expect to hear less from me.

I would like to suggest setting up a discord server, so we can at least discuss things when the site goes down.

I've been resistant to the idea of a discord server because it's one more thing for me to monitor. However given the state of the Paizo boards over the past few weeks it's looking more interesting.

If I set up a server is everyone else interested in checking in there?

Checking in to see who is still good to play. After the server outages I've been tied up a bit with vacation, back to school for the kiddos and putting out work fires.

I'll update the gameplay thread based on what has been posted this week. Please give a nod here to let everyone know that we're good to kickstart the game again and *hopefully* not experience too many additional server goblins.

Also, I started setting up a discord server last week. If we're interested in migrating to discord for gameplay let's do it. I found an rpg bot that will allow dice rolling, etc.

Male Elf Bard (Archaeologist) 1 (HP: 9/9) (AC:16 FF:13 T:13) (Fort: +0 Ref: +5 Will: +2) (Init: +3) (Perc: +6) (Luck: 6/7)

I'm back from my traveling, and it seems the servers are too. Not sure about fully migrating to Discord, especially now that Paizo is a little bit more stable, but having a backup would be valuable in case of another crisis.

I'm still here. We're waiting on Denialan, Ronah and Zelladania to post for this round right? Since Denialan is still here, we should wait for him to post before proceeding (though it has been up a week already).

Let's at least get everyone on discord. Then we can discuss things there when things go down. I'm fine with continuing things here as long as we're able. But if we're not, it's nice to have an alternative.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

I remain ready to continue as well.

Almost two weeks since the last round post now... Denialan are you still with us? It shouldn't take too long to post a single combat action. I'm often in favour of skipping people if they don't post for X days in combat (1?3?). Then if they they are skipped twice without posting advance notice, replace or kick them...

I've been trapped in fire drills but should be able to update gameplay later today.

Yet another week pass with no update. Is this game still happening? Is DMing too much? Maybe it's better to look for another GM, perhaps with Degwyn as a player if running the game require too much?

All,

Sorry for the delays. Due to a colleague moving to a different team my workload has increased significantly and I'm going to be underwater for at least six weeks based on current timelines.

I will need to step down as DM and player as I'm not going to be able to reliably check in until after several projects now on my list have shipped.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 2

Well, it was nice of you to try and take over, and now we know.
So, do we look for a replacement Dm then, or do we call it quits?

Well, I at least really want to play through Rise of the Runelords, so I would be happy if enough of us decide to look for another GM.

I'd prefer if we could continue, but it's often hard to find a replacement GM.

Still, seems worth a shot, anyway.

I'm always surprised at how often the request for GMs succeed. Someone should post a thread over in recruitment since at least 3 of us are interested in continuing.

Might need a few new players, too. Down to 3 from the original 6.

Well, looks like we're four now, so let's look for a Dm, then we'll see.

Looks like we have someone who'd be interested. I looked over his current Giantslayer campaign and think he'd be pretty good, but figure we should all be in agreement.

Indeed looks like a good GM. The fact that he has a campaign running for 21 pages is something I like seeing.

Sounds good to me.

Some of you mentioned earlier to add more players, but I don't think we need to. We aren't missing any particular skills, in fact we're pretty close to the iconic group with a divine, an arcane, a martial and a skill character. Zelladania might still make an appearance too. Though if the GM prefers to recruit more I won't be vehemently opposed, I just don't think it'll be necessary. The campaign was meant for 4 people, so with fewer people there will be less adjustments necesarry.

If I can come with a suggestion though, perhaps Denialan could put a rank into disable device? We might run into some traps or locks before we level up and it would be nice to have that option. Without Ronah we don't have anyone else with that option.

I tend to prefer running with a slightly over-size party as it allows for a wee bit of attrition. And, as the melee guy, it also allows a buffer or flanker to support me.

That said, since we're all in agreement about the GM, let's have him join the discussion and weigh in. Could probably at least finish the first day's encounters to see how it goes with just the 4 of us.

Rise of the Runelords|Dragon's Demand| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire

I think we can run out this part of the melee and see how things go. However, in terms of party size, my Giantslayer game is currently running with 5 and that seems to work better in terms of party dynamics--there are a couple of players who can be slow, and I feel a lot better botting one or two of five rather than half the party. I think I've been able to adjust the enemy and treasure numbers on the fly to keep them roughly where they should be in terms of level and goodies.

Speaking of which, did you have any expectations regarding experience tracking vs. organic leveling? I didn't see anything about it in the previous discussions.

Female Human (Kellid) Oracle (Spirit Guide) 1 | Init +2 | Perc +0 | AC 18 T 12 FF 16 CMD 10 | HP 6/10 | F +1 R +2 W +2 | 1st level spells:1/5 | bolts:4 | Conditions: None

Personally I prefer milestone tracking, but I'm fine tracking experience too if it's informed how much we get each time. One downside of experience tracking is that new players might be harder to fit in.

You mentioned botting in combat. How do you run things for that? I mentioned earlier I prefer that the GM moves things along if someone don't have the time to post, but we would still work out details. I would prefer if the limit is one day or so from the previous post, but others might have different expectations for that.

If I recall, the original commitment for players was the 6/week thing - daily on weekdays, once on weekend.

Rise of the Runelords|Dragon's Demand| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire

I'll certainly work to that myself, but I understand that we all have lives.

Re when I'd bot (or ask the rest of the party for a recommendation), it depends. If an action is obvious and there are few downsides to taking it, I'll get on that in a day or so. If the potential downside is much higher, I'll wait longer and/or solicit input from everyone else.

Also, to facilitate dungeon crawling I'll generally advance the party once at least half of you have committed to a direction.

One other general thing: Paizo is blocked where I work, so during most weekdays (US Central time, btw...greater Chicago area) I can only post from my phone. I can edit maps, though, and I have the AP and rules in pdf. So I can post, but long posts with lots of dice rolls are less likely.

Good to hear. We're at least 3 people on the same page here. Vidar and Denialan, is 6 posts per week ok for you?

@DM Carbide: If you accept have the opportunity to write, but not to post from a computer at work you could write in Google Doc or an email and just open it from the phone and paste in. I always copy out what I write anyway because the forums are unreliable in accepting a post and I've lost more than one post from not keeping a backupof my post before I submit.
