I'm sorry, all; it's been...a day. I don't think I'll have the spoons to post today.
Jevar Shadowmantle
Jevar Wizard 14
Class feat Superior Bond
Skill feat Foil Senses
New spells Prismatic Armor, Prismatic Spray
Kolgradd Thunderiron
Class Feat: Expert Wizard Spellcasting
I had intended to take this at 12 but forgot to level up Arcana in time. Now he gets a rank 4 slot and a rank 5 slot, as well as extra rank 2 and 3 slots from Arcane Breadth. He also get two new rank 4 and rank 5 spells in his spellbook.
rank 4: Draw the Lightning, Fly
rank 5: Blink Charge, Cloak of Colors
Shohreh Kassar
Class Feat: Fast Channel! When I cast harm using 2 actions, I can instead cast the 3-action version.
Skill Feat: Additional Lore (Dark Tapestry). Seems useful lol
Boodiddly
Lvl 14 didn't have any new bard feats that really felt right for Boodiddly. Luckily, there's some options in his Ritualist archetype that sounded both useful and thematic.
Class feat: Flexible Ritualist (allowing Boodiddly to replace a secondary caster - and make their respective check - for a ritual he's the primary caster for)
Skill feat: Glad-hand
Spell: Haste (rank 7)
I won't have a chance to update my character sheet until tomorrow evening.

So...this week is gonna be chaos for me. We're closing on a house and having to move into it, so...yeah, if I'm a bit absent or sporadic, that's why.
Jevar Shadowmantle
Oh yeah. That is a big deal and takes a lot of energy. Do what you need to do. We'll be here after.
Boodiddly
Character sheet updated! And yeah, no rush GM and best wishes for the chaos.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
And yesterday was just...a particularly bad day for me. To the point where I basically spent the entire day incapacitated.

Hey, y'all. Just wanted to mention that I am still in contact with Boodiddly's player and they've been going through...a LOT. It's not really my story to tell, but I'll probably just be botting Boodiddly for the time being, since I think they really need some breathing room during this difficult time.
Jevar Shadowmantle
Would it help if somebody else botted him? Or is it just easier for you to do it?
GM Xavier Kahlvet
I think at this point it would be a bit easier for me to do at the moment.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
Sorry, to clarify: YOU have to take the two actions for Psychic Scream, Kolgradd.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
Sorry, to clarify: YOU have to take the two actions for Psychic Scream, Kolgradd.
To clarify a bit further: As an intelligent item, the sword does have three actions and a reaction it can take each turn; I've mostly been skipping them since they're pretty, y'know, limited in their ability to affect combat. It DOES say that intelligent items can activate their own abilities. And this creates a really weird situation with the intelligent relic gift for how it works with its gifts, as it doesn't really clarify if the gifts are able to be activated independently by the relic itself.
I tend to err on the side of game balance, and I feel like being able to do a significant two-action activity as effectively a free action is...a bit much. So I'm ruling that the wielder still needs to take the necessary actions for the ability. The relic is probably also taking some amount of actions to facilitate the Psychic Scream, but I'm not gonna be super specific about it because of how minimal of an effect it has.
I mostly gave the sword the Intelligent Relic gift because a) it made sense for the story, and b) I didn't wanna give TOO much from this new item and make it overwhelming.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
Hey guys. I'm really sick today and can barely concentrate on anything, so I might not be able to get a post up. Just letting y'all know.
Jevar Shadowmantle
Take care of yourself! Hope you feel better soon.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
Just a heads-up: this weekend (8/29 – 8/31) I have a gaming convention that I’ll be attending as a Venture-Agent of the local Pathfinder Society, so I will be VERY distracted and predisposed, and thus unable to post.
Jevar Shadowmantle
Have fun at the con!
Jevar Shadowmantle
IMPORTANT
Folks the GM asked me to pass along a note that he’s been tied up suddenly with an urgent issue that’s going to keep him from posting for a few days.
He’s okay, his attention is going to be completely kept from the boards.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
To elaborate a bit: I got in a car crash and totaled my car. I am in a lot of physical pain, but I’m overall okay.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
Hero Points have reset
Apologies. I'm still not feeling fully up to posting quite yet. This weekend was...a lot.
Jevar Shadowmantle
No worries. Take your time :)

Sorry it took me so long to get back to y’all. While I’m physically okay (save for a bit of a pulled muscle, I think), the car crash rattled me really bad, mentally.
I will also be absent tomorrow for, uh, no reason whatsoever.

Hey folks, thanks again for your patience and support. Things are stable - or at least stable enough - and it's so good to have the bandwidth to get back into this game.
(Also, amazing rolls against that construct folks! Kolgradd said "crit it" and y'all delivered! XD)
Jevar Shadowmantle
Welcome back!
Shohreh Kassar
Welcome back, to both of you!
Jevar Shadowmantle
FYI I will be away in nature and unable to post this coming weekend, Saturday 9/13-9/14. I will return and resume posting that Sunday evening (US/Pacific time).
GM Xavier Kahlvet
I am…having a really bad mental health day. It might change later, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get a post in unless something changes.
Jevar Shadowmantle
No need to force it. Get the rest you need.
Shohreh Kassar
Sorry for not mentioning this sooner, but I'm going to be traveling for the next few days and won't be back until Monday. I'll have my laptop but I doubt I'll have time to post.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
So, Kolgradd, I think there was a bit of a misunderstanding somewhere along the way: Expert Wizard Spellcasting requires MASTER in Arcana, not expert.
I’m willing to let you make a bit of changes because “if I realized that I would have done my skills very differently.” Specifically, I’m okay with giving you a free retrain to move your skill increase in Acrobatics to Arcana to make you master, because I…don’t think you’ve rolled a single Acrobatics check since turning level 11.
I feel a bit responsible, because I feel like I should’ve caught that a long time ago, but c’est la vie.
EDIT: Also, how do you have a +24 Arcana when you're only expert? Did you get a +2 item bonus to Arcana from something then didn't note it in your character sheet like you did for Occultism and Athletics?

Fear not! It was just a mistake on my character sheet: Kolgradd got expert in Arcana at level 9 from the bonus Eldritch Researcher dedication, which I really failed to reflect in my character sheet at all! Then he went to master at 13

FYI I'm away from home for about 36 hours so I won't be able to post
GM Xavier Kahlvet
Really busy day today for me; probably won't be able to get a post in.
Shohreh Kassar
Gonna be traveling a lot the next week or so, I'll be unable to post on Oct 3rd or from Oct 9th-13th.
GM Xavier Kahlvet
Okay, quick aside :
As a GM, I see myself primarily and ultimately as an arbiter of fun, and if something isn’t fun, then I stomp back on it hard.
In my most recent post, I wasn’t expecting the disintegrate to do a whole lot because of Kolgradd’s Battle Hardened; I was mostly using it as a horrific opening volley of what could potentially happen.
Then Kolgradd rolled two nat 1s in a row.
As the aforementioned “arbiter of fun,” I found that a PC going from “mildly hurt” to “dead with no breath of life chance” completely out of nowhere to be extremely unfun. Yes, nat 1s happen and suddenly falling unconscious out of nowhere does indeed happen—suddenly dying is a completely different situation.
So to keep with ensuring things are fun, I went about rewriting my post to make it so that the spell in that Channel Magic was very specifically NOT disintegrate, so that Kolgradd wouldn’t just be outright removed from combat.
THEN I remembered the concealment and that that changed the entire course of the situation. When I realized the concealment made the attack miss, I decided to revert the post back to the disintegrate being in the Channel Magic because, well, I need y’all to understand the really dire predicament I found myself in.
Kolgradd Thunderiron
Yikes!
Even for the hardiest dwarf who ever dwarfed death is just a die-roll away for some of these things. Thanks for being considerate. I think I'd have been fine to learn Kolgradd had been disintegrated; it would certainly have been memorable!
GM Xavier Kahlvet
@Kolgradd: Brutish Shove has the press trait. You’re the order of operations would've had to be shield, Strike, sure strike, Brutish Shove
GM Xavier Kahlvet
It just occurred to me that I don’t think I’ve been fully transparent about this month with y’all.
October is going to be an extremely stressful month for me. On top of the fact that this is the first month in which we’re paying the mortgage on our newly-bought house, I am also getting married at the end of the month, AND am dealing with some stuff at work that’s been draining me.
So yeah, I ask that y’all have some patience with me this month, because I have a veritable f*ck-ton on my plate and just need to take things a bit slow at times.
Shohreh Kassar
lol you could take the whole month off and i'd still owe you for the grace you've given me
Jevar Shadowmantle
Hello. This is an FYI that I'll be away in nature starting this coming Friday 10/17, returning Sunday 10/19 when I will catch up and resume posting.
As always my hope is that since this is a weekend the disruption will be minimal to none. Bot as necessary.
Boodiddly
I know we like to resolve things in initiative order, but I'd like to propose that Boodiddly would have delayed his turn until after Jevar dropped an AoE so the calm doesn't immediately end.
Jevar Shadowmantle
That makes sense. He just knows it going to be hard to work in the AoEs once the party rushes in on them.
Boodiddly
Jevar, if you can move a bit to the side (at least 10 ft), Boodiddly can use his action to hit the denizen with the orchestra again.
Jevar Shadowmantle
Adjusted him up above Shohreh. He should be pretty out of the way.

I am making a post about this now for the sake of communication:
10/30 – 11/1 will be busy for me, and I likely won’t be able to post on those days—on 10/31 I DEFINITELY will not be able to post. It’s because those are the days before, of, and after my wedding, and things are, y’know, utter chaos because it is the biggest social event of my life.
