Growing up in Riddleport makes one learn one lesson faster than others, life is cheap. And if you do not learn it fast and well, you will find yourself without it soon enough.
Being born an Ulfen is not a bonus, since the Ulfen have a history of raiding Varasia they are not often welcome, especially not in a town built on piracy. They are more or less considered unwanted competition.
Vidar was destined for an early grave, if not for the unexpected intervention of a stranger, during a routine beating by some thugs the young orphan was saved from yet another broken arm or leg by a dashing swordswoman.
She introduced herself as Elaine of the pathfinder society, and more than just protect Vidar that one time, she even sponsored him for being tutored by a Cyphermage once she saw the keen intellect behind the young boy’s world weary stare.
The years that followed were happy one’s for Vidar, out from the streets he grew up healthier and stronger than he would ever have done if let on his own, he also learned magic, a gift that he was grateful for and well suited for its use.
Elaine would make sure to visit him from time to time, to check on his studies and to tell him of her latest adventure.
Once Vidar became of age he showed a remarkable love for the wilderness, perhaps not surprising considering how much he had been hurt in Riddleport proper, and he would spend most of his time outdoors, blending his studies with what he himself dubbed field work.
He would soon take a marked interest in Tassalonian lore as well as the ruins left behind by that empire.
Blending his love for exploration with his fascination for history he applied to join the pathfinder society, and was sponsored by Elaine until he could pay his own entry fee.
Setting out for Magnimar and the chapter-house there to find a sponsor, Vidar journey has now begun in full
APPERANCE:
Spoiler:
Vidar does not exactly fit the normal expectations of a wizard.
He is tall and lean, posses wiry strength and is hale and hearty, with a tan unlike most of the pale and pasty scholars that are his peers.
He sports a bushy blond beard, his eyes are bright blue and his straw blond hair reaches his shoulders, with a pair of short braids falling down on each side of his face.
He prefers to wear a long coat in muted dark green colour to blend in outdoors, and he also wears a similar coloured broad brimmed hat.
