Rigor Rictus |
Mandatory introductory post where I explain the incredibly obvious purpose of this thread, and what you should do here.
Now that you have made an Alias, please take the time to enter your character details on your Profile page. A backstory is nice, but need not be overly long. The main question I will need to know is this, are you a member of the Tomorrow Legion already, or are you new to the area.?
My suggestion would be this: if you are familiar with Rifts, it would be great to have a few established members of the Tomorrow Legion in the group, as long as that makes sense.
For people that have never played Rifts before, and don't know the setting, being fresh to this dimension such as having been warped in from somewhere else makes things very easy, as you can then ask questions about the setting in-character, and both you and the character can both learn about them.
Last, as this is a quasi-military campaign, the group probably will need a designated Commander. The commander doesn't have to be the natural leader of the group; that person might be the Sergeant. However, someone will have to be the Commanding Officer, officially in charge of the team. Now, the commander and the leader could be the same person, if you think it makes sense, but it doesn't have to be. Basically, I am looking for suggestions, nominations, and/or volunteers to be the group's CO. In-game, that character would have military authority to command subordinates, though gaining their loyalty might be something else entirely. If course, they will also bear the responsibility for the success and failures of the operations.
An alternative might be for me to create an NPC Commander, who might get promoted out of sight after the group gets established and kind of determines its own leader.
Therun Dahr |
Reporting. :)
Working on profile and crunch still...
Therun is new to the Legion, but not to Rifts in general as he was a former hunter for the Coalition. Turning on his commander when he was ordered to do something outside his code, Therun fought hard but ended up being left for dead by his former leader. A Legionairre found him and brought him back...
Arsenio Doloso |
Arsenio is likewise new to the Legion, but not the Rifts. That can easily change though if we find we need somebody who knows more how the Legion operates; my backstory doesn't really change any no matter how long I've been with the Legion, I just don't know a bunch about the world OOC so figured it'd be easier to be new.
I MAY swap Hard to Kill with another Edge (though there are few Combat edges that do me good, as most specify a Fighting or Shooting roll rather than the Psionics roll I'll be making for all my attacks) but that's the only change I'd need to make if at all.
Jace Belleraphon |
Being that my player is also running a campaign in the Rifts world and has all but the most recent of Rifts books, I have quite an insight into the world, so I'm going with Jace having a bit of knowledge and belonging to the Legion already. Being leader is not his forte and he doesn't like to sit and think for too long before bolting off and doing something rash... if given command, he would certainly do his best though.
Jace Belleraphon |
I think so. Friendly speed racing contests all around...
Jace Belleraphon |
The way we're starting to round out, by the time the bad guys realize what happened, we'll be sitting back smoking a cig and drinking a brew...
Arsenio Doloso |

The way you guys move, my best bet may be to just get a head start on that because there's no way I'm keeping up. =p
Therun Dahr |
Just remember, while speed gets you to the finish line first, you’re more likely to hit a tree just before and let the slow and steady companion win the race. :)
It’s a team effort after all :)
Trying to finish up details and wanted to ask a couple of things :) would anyone’s character have issues with Psi-Stalkers in general, esp. a former Coalition one? (I’m guessing yes, so perhaps who would NOT have such an issue? :)
Also, is someone of you the one (or more) that found Therun left for dead and brought him to the Legion?
Jace Belleraphon |
We'll just to have to roll good Agility for those trees.. no problem with Psi-Stalkers in general, but he may say something about being former CS. Mostly in jest... mostly...
Arsenio Doloso |
"What's a Psi-Stalker?"
"Mutant freaks that feed on people with psychic powers. They're psychic cannibals, basically. If you value your energy, stay away from them."
Atlas "Ace" Boomer |
Ace Boomer (that's the only name he gives) reporting for duty! He is new to the Legion, having just been recruited, but has been around the Rifts for a long time. Being new to the Legion, he does not feel qualified for any kind of command duties.
He not only has a Glitter Boy, but has some significant cybernetic enhancements of his own.
Rigor - what game stat numbers do you want us to show under our race and class ID?
Rigor Rictus |
"Get outa town! Your nickname was never "Ace". Maybe "Ace-hole".
In no particular order, it would be great if everyone could list:
Parry
Any modifiers to hit you (Due to large size or Uncanny Reflexes)
Toughness (Armour Value in Parenthesis)
Pace
Charisma Modifier
Bennies (Usual Total vs Current)
Wounds (Any)
Fatigue (Any)

Leadership:
Out of those present, none have volunteered for command, and there are only one or two that seem like possibilities.
Arsenio Doloso: Investigator, head on his shoulders; Possible Candidate.
Therun Dahr: Educated, somewhat reviled race, but the Tomorrow legion is an equal opportunity employer: Possible Candidate.
Ace Boomer: Glitter Boy is a stereotypical choice for leader, but he has declined. Non-Candidate
K-842: Player is brand new to the system/setting, so it is likely better not to burden him with extra tasks: Non-candidate.
Jace Belleraphon: Impulsive, impatient, reactive. Non-Candidate.
Hyperkinetic: Juvenile fresh off the boat from another dimension. Non-Candidate.
Anpetu: Haven't seen the character yet, but anyone whose life can be better measured in days than years probably doesn't make a good leadership candidate. Non-candidate
There are two other applicants, but as neither character is done yet, it seems safe to assume that leadership is probably not something that is helpful to add on to them.
Therefore:
I'll ask if either Arsenio or Therun are interested in being an officer and having at least "official" command of the group. If neither wants it, or feels well suited to take it, I'll give you an NPC-Wildcard officer that you start out with. How long he/she lasts depends on the storyline.

I might consider creating a Roll20 room for this game. Not necessarily to make maps on, but because it has a Savage Worlds friendly Turn Order widget.
You can add all the players and tokens to the Turn Order, digitally shuffle and deal the cards to each player or token, then have it sort by card/suit automatically.
I run a live Savage Fallout game over Roll20 and it's real quick and easy to do.
Jace Belleraphon |
That would be fun... I didn't know it had that kind of widget... is it an extra download or is it built in?
Storm Dragon |
It's built in to the standard Turn Order and deck of card thing. When you deal cards you deal "1 to all players" and hit the button that says "Deal cards to Turn Order items".
After that you just hit the little settings button on turn order and mash the button "By Card/Suit" and it will sort them automatically.
Takes just a few seconds all told.
Jace Belleraphon |
Sounds simple enough... thanks.
Androva Ferrolil |
Reporting in, sorry I'm late. This is John Grigsby's/Dark Angel's/Whtknt's persona. I'm fine with being dropped in wherever it is convenient; the price I pay for being late. Will have her backstory up soon.
Rigor Rictus |
Good to have you Androva. I'll take a detailed look at your write up as soon as I can. Likely you were with the now-defunct patrol in the destroyed Mountaineer. You are either regaining consciousness after the explosion, or perhaps doing first aid on an injured comrade inside it.
The thing I noticed right off was the Heroic Journey rolls. As I mentioned earlier in the recruitment thread, to try and keep gaming of the system down to a minimum, I was requiring the tables to be rolled in order. I enforced it for one of the other characters, so to be consistent, I should do the same with you.
This will change the outcome of your rolls to the following:
Education 8 (d8 Knowledge (Electronics), +1 to Repair electronic devices)
Experience and Wisdom 18 (one WC Edge; Hard to Kill)
Unfortunately, Hard to Kill is not a Wildcard edge. There are three to choose from: Dead Shot, Mighty Blow, and Power Surge.
Experience and Wisdom 3 (Strong Willed)
Training 1 (5 Skill Points to be spent on Fighting, Shooting, and Throwing)
Underworld 2 (McGyver Edge, d4 Repair)
It doesn't affect him overly much since his rolls were close enough to stay give the same result on some tables, but will require switching Elan for Strong Willed. As well, see the note about Hard to Kill; Wild Card Edges is a particular category of edges (on page 42 of the Deluxe edition).
Androva Ferrolil |
No problem. I will make the changes and adjust as necessary. The WC Edge I will take is Mighty Blow, then.
Rigor Rictus |
Quick just allows you to draw another card if you draw a 5 or lower. With a queen it would do nothing. There is another Edge called Level Headed that allows you to take two cards each round ànd use the better one. If you gotten a 5 or lower, I'd have kept drawing for you as I did for Jace.
'Thumper' Jones |
@GM
Would you mind if I swapped the Hindrance Yellow for Wanted?
I was thinking about, and naming, my Zone Ranger when it occurred to me that, While it and my armor belong to me, the FOM might have a mistaken belief that it was theirs.
Rigor Rictus |
Yes, that is fine Thumper.
Combat Mage Armour is ALL made by the FOM for their own use, and not for sale. Therefore, any found outside the Federation is considered stolen. Whether you are the thief or merely in possession of stolen property is the only real question. The Zone Ranger however is probably manufactured at Stormspire, and they ARE commercially available, meaning that unless there is something in your story to indicate otherwise, the FOM would have no reason to think it is theirs.
Rigor Rictus |
Unfortunately, with this ability I don't think you can. The description just says "anyone that touches you." You could control whether it inflicts mega damage or not, but as mega-damage in Savage Rifts is not palladium MDC, personal armour is not generally considered Mega-Damage in this system. So, unfortunately Jace would take fire damage if your aura was active.
'Thumper' Jones |
The cloak makes him look; lo rez, sometimes static washes over him, Now that I think about it he looks like a Hologram from Star Wars
'Thumper' Jones |
Ok, Looking over the healing rules, It seems like healing a Dying juicer is going to be hard. Can someone help me understand the math of how hard?
Storm Dragon |
So, you make your Healing roll. In your case it is untrained (I don't see it on your sheet anyway), so you only have a d4-2.
You take a further -2 for not having proper medical equipment/a healing kit/whatever. So you're at a d4-4.
You also take a penalty equal to the number of the patient's wounds (in this case 4), taking you to a total of a d4-8.
Your first Heal check would be needed to remove their Incapacitated state, and a second could be made to remove Wounds (one with a success, two with a raise). As usual, your target number is 4.
If you fail either, you cannot try again.
You need three Aces just to get a single success, or two Aces on your Wild die.
