Get well, then worry about the character.
I like Ziva and would be bummed if you felt you needed to give up on her and Vernai. I haven't looked at the crunch much and haven't played a hunter, but so far it has seemed competent.
I'm here to have fun and join in a fun story. The rules debates are not my idea of fun. I admit that I'm still trying to figure out where Mort wants the balance to be, but that may be partially because Mort is still working on figuring that out themselves.
You will have to decide what is right for you.
Take care!
Ziva Suadela
Yeah I hate about arguing about these rules as well.
Like, Mort has told me I have multiple magic item slots for Vernai, but under the Druids Log, or PFS Society FAQ, it makes it clear that:
"Animal companions are limited to the more restrictive of either [neck+barding+Slots Gained from Extra Slot feat] or The animal archive chart."
Its just a headache, and arguing left or right is making this unfun. I think I would be better served playing something without an AC and avoiding all the arguments its bringing IMO.

Mr. Whiskers wrote:I will put a rank in disguise and take Disguise Other. That would give me a +14-2 to disguise Einar asCould Ivar just wear enough cloths that his skin doesn't show and a full faced helmet? Or would that not work if we aren't armed?an Orc orsomething.
It would still be Disguise skill. As a gate guard, I think someone trying to completely hide their face would be suspicious.
If you still look like a tiefling, I fear that it would attract more attention than if we make you look like a different sort of outsider. I'm betting tieflings are not common in Irrisen.
I think we need to avoid looking like a group that includes a ratfolk/were-rat (I'm not sure how good the description is), Tiefling and Aasimar. That combo is likely to be more noticeable than anything else.

Mort appears to be allowing the full set of item slots from Animal Archives rather than the much more restrictive set allowed in PFS. Although we can get PFS credit for playing this, we are doing so in Campaign mode which means we don't have to follow all the PFS restrictions. If this were done with all the PFS restrictions, I couldn't play a ratfolk.
Mr. Whiskers
we have the white wolf hide also, for a one shot deal, I'm more concerned with what were going to do with the menagerie
Siberian Tiger and Lemming are both creatures found in the area, so they shouldn't stick out that badly. The mantis does stick out. Mort has suggested one way we could do it.
I'm still pondering exactly what to take when leveling for an exploit. I want both Lepidstat Shifter and Altered Shifting by the time I can use Poly Self, but something like Spell Tinkerer or metamagic knowledge are more useful now.
Spells added are See Invisibility and Disguise Other. Feat is Improved Initiative for when I get Haste at 6th.
I will need to buy Cat's Grace. I should have asked the group before taking Bull's Strength, add this to lessons learned. That is fine, I usually do buy a lot of spells.
---
Einar,
You do know that Appraise is a background skill, right? Your profile lists it under adventuring skills. I'm sort of surprised you haven't put points in it, given how mercenary Einar has been at times.
---
Mort,
You had said the plan was to visit a forger, but that we would need to do the 'rolls'. I'm confused by this. If we are having someone else creating the papers, why do we need to do the rolls? Or is it in order to be believable we need to make the rolls when questioned about the papers?
Trying to understand so I know if I also need to put points into Kn: Nobility. If I do, it probably means Einar and I studied together.
GM Mort
You can choose not to visit the forger - you can make your own documents. Of course, Ringerr does not know this, unless you inform him that you guys are pretty good at forging documents as well.
You see - there will be a window period between you entering the Howlings and you getting your forged papers - where if someone inspects, you're in trouble.
Since the party does have (most) of the pre requisite skills, I fail to see why the party should not be allowed to forge their own documemts.
If you want more categories of papers to forge, let me know, I'll come up with something. I just stated what was in the mod/what looked obvious.
GM Mort
Also - the average city guard you know, is like a person with no ranks in spellcraft and detect magic. How they are going to recognise a magical sack from an ordinary sack....not possible.
Mask dweomer isn't really something you need.
You might want to tell Ringerr about your rimepelt. He doesn't know you have it, so he can't ask.
GM Mort
Also Ziva, re animal item slots:
I have stated earlier, at the time of character creation
If you wish to reroll - you can either take over Ringerr, or wait until the party gets in contact with Solveig, then introduce your new PC as one of Solveig's acolytes.
The problem with this AP is introducing PCs is a bit problematic due to the Black Rider's mantle, and often you're in hostile territory, or in the middle of nowhere. They try to give you playable NPCs, but generally most players would rather create their own charcter. I don't blame them.
Technically in White Throne I should limit you to human only, and make you worship Milani, for flavour of setting but that's really taking away player freedom of choice.
GM Mort
I also feel that my rules re Animal companions are fair and not restrictive. They're even less restrictive then PFS - you cant have polearm wielding apes down there, I'd allow it here lol, I think its funny.
Animals, as extensions of PCs are subject to PC rules.
Ziva Suadela
I'm aware of the list pre-creation - it's the animal archive list. I just got confused since I'm working with PFS legal feats but technically I should need extra item slot - but Mr Whiskers explained it well a few posts up.
Anyway I'm not really pinging your animal companion rules- I'm just tired of arguing, and feats for INT 3 companions is pretty much GM call. I don't really want to keep fighting S it makes it less fun for all involved also no one wants to read it and it slows down everything. I'll work on something else and then go from there. I don't want to be any sort of exotic race so I'll probably still be human if poss.
GM Mort
So I'll take it you'll be rerolling then?
So do you want to take control of Ringerr or just rejoin the party at Solveig?

Wow! That would allow for a LOT of hurt. Someone locally ran a Tengu hunter/rogue with an Ape boon companion and appropriate feats. You did not want to open up an AoO on either of them! I don't recall the build details, but have seen it in action.
I wouldn't want to face someone doing a similar thing with polearms!
Will update profile tonight after I get done verifying everything. Do you want the change log? Others have been doing it, which is why I ask.
GM Mort
Don't care (up to you to choose if you wanna give me change log or not). Just make sure your character profile is updated.
Ziva Suadela
When you go to work but your boss sends you home you know you still haven't recovered fully x_x
GM, I'd probably just be looking at a Half Orc Inquisitor of Gorum. It should still cover what Ziva did (some small time casting + nature and wisdom skills), and still be ok in melee, just won't have a Giant Mantis. Is this ok?
I'd probably be looking to rejoin the party in Solveig though.
Mr. Whiskers
@Ziva Might want to work out with Mort how you want Ziva to leave the group. Sneak away, go out holding the choke point so we can escape, just have a really bad day...whatever the two of you decide on.
@Everyone I've updated my profile now.
@Mort Will we have any down time before trying to enter Whitethrone?
GM Mort
I'd give you 2-3 days downtime, if you need. Otherwise you can set forth in the morning.
I'd just put it Ziva decided to retire in fishcamps. I don't like killing PCs offscreen.
The reason why I did not want to let you bring in a PC in Fishcamps is because it doesn't really make much narrative sense. If there was a PC, why didn't he/she stand up to Marcian and instead letting all the stuff happen?
I'm pretty sure if I ask Luke to build a character, that character can solo both Marcian and his ogre guards, all by himself ;)
If you're going to be a half orc inquisitor of Gorum, then you'll be on Solveig's payroll for - when she needs a job done kinda thing.
And I have no issues with half orc inquisitors - except with one caveat - please do NOT follow Gorums code to the letter demanding to kill/fight everyone on sight - because it will interfere with other people's RP.
I mean of course I rather that you don't keep switching characters as much as you change shirts due to having no connection with story, but I'm not going to really prevent people from bringing in new PCs...
8250k WBL to start with. The weird number is because you're between 4 and 5.
Ziva Suadela
I'll probably take my cues from Einar who gives me a good "Gorum" like vibe to work with. I don't forsee or intend though to kill everything on side - I'd be more someone that that loves the thrill of a fight when one actually breaks out / happens - rather than one that wants to murderhobo everything he/she sees.
Does the mantle switch over? Also, I get the WBL thing, but what level would I be when I catch up, 4, or 5?
GM Mort
Yeah but not everything needs to be fought. And Einar is not the best guy when it comes to judging murderhoboing. He'd murderhobo an elk to eat.
I.e the moss troll incident.
Dominated human attacks you.
What do you do?
a)Yay! Its a fight! Murderhobo!
b)Oh no, this guy can't help what he's doing. Lets subdue him and figure out how to fix things.
If you are using Einar as a guide, then please select a less murderhobo god.
Ziva Suadela
Given Situation
Fight (because yay, I enjoy fighting)
But don't necessarily kill, especially if he is being forced against his will. Instead, hunt down and (probably), kill the coward that didn't face you in combat him or herself.
Or do you consider this out of line for Gorum?
Mr. Whiskers
I need much of one day just to forge the papers.
I would like to spend 6 hours to scribe:
1 scroll obscuring mist
2 scrolls see invisible
Might be able to do that in one day, but two would be more comfortable.
It does require that we have our story together by morning so that I can counterfeit the papers. If we are going for Stilyagi or Noble Guest, I will need Einar's aid to properly forge those papers.
If the story is something else, it needs to accommodate having a gnome and an ice elemental in the party.
I'm willing to adopt a different plan if someone has one.
GM Mort
Please select a god that the tenents does not go around picking fights for the fun of it with others, then.
Ziva Suadela
-__-
Its not picking a fight for the fun of it
Its enjoying a fight when one begins.
Fine though, your decision. I'll think up a new character (since without Gorum both weapon, feat selections, and inquisition become illegal).
GM Mort
Basically Mr Whiskers and actually Einar's player would be upset if the module ended up with a I-fight-everything route.
If you want greatsword proficiency, I can handwave that you automatically get it. Call it for halforc instead of falchion and greataxe proficiency, you get falchion and greatsword proficiency.
What inquisition do you want? Talk to me about it, I can see which other gods have it.
Mr. Whiskers
Have you looked at Milani?
Favored weapon of morningstar, but you aren't forced to use the deity's favored weapon. I suspect it makes it really easy to insert you into the story since the Milani resistance is who Ringerr is working with as an agent.
Domains Chaos, Good, Healing, Liberation, Protection
Subdomains Azata, Defense, Freedom, Purity, Restoration, Revolution
Since you would be part of an underground and she is basically a guerilla fighter, should give you an excellent reason for fighting.
Edit to add: ...or not. I can't really see Milani supporting that inquisition. Just read the Anger inquisition.
GM Mort
Lets do it this way:
Any god that has any of the following domains:
Destruction, disaster, wrath, Battle, strength, weapons
Can take anger inquisition. Now go find a god.
Ziva Suadela
Just off the top of my head, Arshea but there are probably others.
Smiad is another one, but that doesn't fit with campaign.
GM Mort
Her new character does not have to be a supporter of Milani. Could be someone Solveig hired to get certain jobs that need muscle done. Which is fine.
The characters in Star Wars Rogue One, were no angels themselves.
Mr. Whiskers
Cayden Cailean and Irori have Strength. Really, you just got a fairly broad selection there.
Ziva Suadela
Hmm not a lot that really scream "Anger", though I guess Feronia probably kinda works - I don't see Iomedae (for instance) fitting though.
Also yeah, I should probably make sure whatever deity I have doesn't have any moral objection to summoning X creature. Just to prevent anything irritating down the road.
I think the better question is what the GM thinks would be a good selection - since its clear we have differing viewpoints on some deities in how inquisitors behave.
GM Mort
I poke my nose into player business only if it affects player business (as in RP/role wise).
Personally I can see a worshipper of Iomedae get into a righteous rage when faced with evil doers.
If you want to worship Feronia, so be it, then.
Cleric summoning = you can't summon anything that's opposite your gods alignment. Though the day an inquisitor does summoning...eh well inquisitors are 6th level spellcasters. Eh wait, they don't even have summons.
Unless you're going monster tactician route, then please give me a list of your standard summons so I can prepare minis for them.
Just some food for thought. The entire party actually is under a geas spell. But I'll just drop it off whenever there is a character swop.
Ziva Suadela
Yeah, sorry that wasn't clear, I'm Monster Tactician.
If you're happy with Iomedae, I'm happy with it. I think I might disagree with some of the concepts her code requires from Paladins - do you expect inquisitors to follow it heavily?
I'll let you know my standard summons.
I'll also try to keep an updated statblock list of them in my profile for ease of view if it helps.
GM Mort
No I do not expect an inquisitor to follow it heavily. Gods in my campaign world don't care what mortals are doing.
I just don't want people to go - I'm doing(questionable things) because my god told me to.
I could say alot about it in RL...but nevermind. Lets not go into that. It NEVER ends well.
If Iomedae it means no chaotics, no evils. You can order any summoned monster to attack whoever, whatever, but if you want them to use specific abilities(combat maneuvers(unless its a rider from an attack), put out that fire with drench), I expect you to take the required languages.
Ziva Suadela
I kinda want a chaotic option (azata and co are kinda nice) so maybe following some NG deity might be better in this case. Locking myself out of CG (and to a lesser extend CN) probably knocks out a large chuck of the summon list when you take out evil as well (which is probably an acceptable loss).
EDIT
GM I was thinking of summoning Dire Badgers
Since these don't have a language but have a special ability (Blood Rage), am I forever barred from them triggering this ability?
Ziva Suadela
Expanded Summon Monster list here.
Monster Tactition adds +1 from level 2 onwards, but once chosen, its locked, so I'll probably discuss my preferences now rather than running into trouble later.
GM Mort
Sure. Then like smite, they will activate(or not)at your choice, their rage ability before they make their attacks.
Sorry, bloodrage has special trigger conditions.
When the creature takes damage in combat, on its next turn it can fly into a rage as a free action. It gains +2 Constitution and +2 Strength, but takes a –2 penalty to its AC. The rage lasts as long as the battle or 1 minute, whichever is shorter. It cannot end its rage voluntarily.
Once it has taken damage in combat, then yes, on their next turn they can activate rage as your choice/or not.
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson
Yeah but not everything needs to be fought. And Einar is not the best guy when it comes to judging murderhoboing. He'd murderhobo an elk to eat.
I.e the moss troll incident.
Dominated human attacks you.
hey I'm right here! (Actually I'm in the hospital with my daughter who is having a baby... oh, back to the game) OK hunting elk for food, it's called hunting. And in Einars defense you didn't say it was a dominated human, you said it was a green thing with an axe.
GM Mort
Is your daughter ok? And how's the baby?
Ginganinja - me thinks what you're trying to do is just better done standing next to Einar when he gets mad...
GM Mort
Not yet delivered? I'm surprised you aren't like !!!!! I would be!
And are you sure you're supposed to be out here instead of with your family?
Ziva Suadela
Probable progression for Expanded Summon Monster so you can see if there are any outliners
Badger
Giant Weasel
Giant Gecko
Azer
Dire badger
Dire Weasel
Skunk, Giant
Agathion, Vulpinal
Hypnalis
Axiomite
Archon, Legion
Angel, Movanic Deva
Agathion, Avoral
Inevitable, Kolyarut
Agathion, Leonal
Giant, Storm
Probably GM, I can stand next to Einar and trigger most of my teamwork feats - but I can also do it just as well with (some) of my summoned critters. I just like Monster Tact for the ability to run into melee, or sit back or summon depending on the situation, and the badger / weasel trick is just nice for low levels until your summon monster list grows.
Besides, its hilarious summoning a bunch of badgers into a fight.
EDIT omg Einar I hope your daughter and partner are doing ok
Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson
Thanks, she's a little stress because she needed an epidural for the pain, other than that there good, the room allows three people so I am rotating with my wife and daughter, my son-in-law is staying in. So things are progressing.
And having badgers in the fight does sound humorous
GM Mort
Badger trick works only after the badgers have been nicked. And actually you have a total of 19 options of the expanded summons list.
Don't see any issues with the list.
Ziva Suadela
Yeah, I only picked 16/19 because most AP (iirc) go to about 17th level.
Anyway proper question, if I'm joining the party at 4, does that mean that Nadya will level to 5 to make up the shortfall, rather than have 3 party members @ Level 5, and 2 @ Level 4, as opposed to our current 4@5 + Nadya @ 4?
