GM Mort |

Decide as a group what stuff else you want to get, then I'll just fastfoward you to tomorrow morning after Cadence decides whether to dinner and sleep at Silver Stoat or her family.
I'll just happily assume you're setting off first thing in the morning because that's when the glue on that functional pair of snowshoes dry.

GM Mort |

Should you want to set off at night, decide which night, and also mind that you've also been up for at least 6h today.

GM Mort |

Once Cadence makes her decision, I will wrap up, with the party going into a shopping frenzy, like during black friday...
Basically you will be able to get:
Alchemist's Fire
Blackfire Clay
Frostbite Ointment
Heatstone
Tindertwig
a handaxe
a shovel
a signal whistle
a small iron pot
10 candles
a candle lamp
five tindertwigs
a winter blanket.
You may buy the items above in any quantities you wish. If you wish to add any items to the list (i.e rations), please state. Magical potion, magical item and scroll availability - please check with me first. This is a small town.
Magic Item availability(mod given alone):
10 +1 cold iron sling bullets (Isker)
MW banded mail (Isker)
Potion of Resist Energy (Tessararea)
Scroll of aid (Mother Theodora)
Scroll of sleep (Mother Theodora)
Wand of magic weapon - 24 charges (Mother Theodora)
Wand of scorching ray - 42 charges (Mother Theodora)
Arrow Magnet (Vivalla - General Store)
Ring of Force Shield (Vivalla - General Store)
You can also bargain with the GM for level 1 scrolls to be available, but that will really be depending on how generous GM feels about it. Obviously endure elements will not be available, heh.
I was actually hoping you'd ask the vendors what they had to offer you but well, I guess that didnt happen...

GM Mort |

If you want, next time you go to town I can have the vendors advertise actively all their magic items in front of you, but I personally don't care for such aggressive selling tactics in RL...

Crummock-i-Phail |

Heh. Well, we don't have a *lot* of cash; I dare say once we have gotten into the meat of the module, and rolled through a bandit camp, we will have a lot of gear to dump / be flush with enough cash that we might actually consider looking at the magic items.
Mind you, of the listed items, only the wands look particularly tasty...

Mr. Whiskers |

Assuming that Crummock gets spells in the morning, he should cast the Endure Elements this evening. That way we can decide if something else is more important during the day knowing it means no spell that night.

GM Mort |

Please state if you took inflict or cure light wounds option as an oracle. That's given for free and frankly this is the third time I'm telling you this, I'm done being polite...
*throws a CRB at Crummock*

GM Mort |

Decide if you're doing moving off tonight, tomorrow morning or tomorrow night as a group.
Robert -> Get more sleep!
I'd move you guys along but depending on where Cadence decides to stay for dinner and night will involve different dialogue scenes, some of which she will probably want to respond to.

Mr. Whiskers |

@Crummock
Well, I am not a prepared caster - Endure Elements and Dream Feast are what I have, period.
As Mort pointed out, you also get either all Cure or Inflict spells. I would strongly recommend you take the Cure spells.
I didn't know what spells you had chosen. I was just suggesting the Endure Elements at night because it lasts 24 hours and doing it at night would give you the option of using the spell slot during the day for something else if necessary.
Take for instance a case where you choose Cure Light Wounds and need it to get someone mobile. If you do Endure Elements in the morning, you wouldn't be able to give up the spell in order to get the cure. If you do it at night, you have the option of burning the slot for a cure knowing it means a cold night for someone in the party.
---
@Mort
I didn't really inquire about what merchants had because of limited funds. I wanted to make sure we got the required equipment before spending money on other things. If we come back to town with money, then the special wares will be much more interesting.
---
@Whole group
If we wait to leave until morning it would allow Mr. Whiskers to take Burning Hands. Might be useful now that we know in character that the creatures we are facing are cold based.
I have already allocated the funds to buy myself the winter blanket and signal whistle. I'll buy my food supplies up to 15 days.
What is the price of dog chow?

GM Mort |

15cp in total for all 3 dogs per day
Its the weight that's the problem. 15 lbs to feed all the dogs for 1 day.
I suppose you will be going to Mother Theodora for burning hands, as per asking her for spellcasting services, then make scroll out of it?

Mr. Whiskers |

I suppose you will be going to Mother Theodora for burning hands, as per asking her for spellcasting services, then make scroll out of it?
No, it was one of my starting spell picks. I had six starting 1st level spells, they are listed at the end of the profile. Endure Elements is also in that list, so if there is a call for it in town I could create a scroll for her.
Growing up on the Storval Plateau, I couldn't imagine a spell caster that wouldn't take Endure Elements.

![]() |

Hey Gang, I'm back... So I need to catch up.
We're stocking up on supplies and spending a day making snow shoes? Do we need a craft roll? Do I need to make one?
If we're spending the night, Cadence would love to do the following:
1) Eat dinner with her family
2) Sing at the Silver Stoat. Her family could totally be there.
Thoughts on cure vs inflict.
Cure is by far the better choice at low levels. The only time inflict would be a better choice would come in after 7th level, if you took the Touch of the Moon revelation. However, I don't see an Extra Revelation feat in your build plan for 7th, so this point becomes moot.
Go Cure.
Hmm

GM Mort |

You spend some time sticking it together, by tomorrow morning the glue sets(or the shoes fall apart if you messed up your craft roll).
Cadence, will you be sleeping with your family tonight?
Ill write the dialogue for dinner with family as soon as I hit office .(10-15) min to office.
Also take into consideration the weight of the pack saddles themselves its 15 lbs.

Mr. Whiskers |

Took a little bit of time to figure out what we should be able to pack on the dogs without slowing the group down.
Updated after Mort corrected me on which type of dogs we were using.
A Riding Dog has a Strength of 15 and is a medium quadruped. This gives it encumbrance values of:
Base for Str 15: light 66 lbs. or less. medium 67–133 lbs., heavy 134–200 lbs.
Quadrupeds can carry heavier loads than bipeds can. Multiply the values corresponding to the creature's Strength score from Table: Carrying Capacity by the appropriate modifier, as follows: Fine ×1/4, Diminutive ×1/2, Tiny ×3/4, Small ×1, Medium ×1-1/2, Large ×3, Huge ×6, Gargantuan ×12, Colossal ×24.
So the dog would have 66 * 1.5 = 99, 133 * 1.5 = 199.5, 200 * 1.5 = 300.
Light 99 lbs. or less
Medium up to 199 lbs
Heavy up to 300 lbs
The food for the dog weights 5 lbs per day, so at 15 days food it would be 75 lbs. Still at light encumbrance with 24 lbs carrying capacity left.
A dog moves at 40' base, so medium encumbrance would bring them down to 30', which is faster than at least half the party.
So we can load up to 124 lbs. on a dog and it will still move 30', faster than half the party.
Mr. Whiskers has slightly less than 5 lbs that he would like one of the dogs (Acapella) to carry. Much (but not all) of that is his food for the journey.

She'll be sleeping with her family tonight... She has no idea how long on the road we'll be.

GM Mort |

I sometimes do pre-scripts in advance to save time, but in this case there were too many possibilities to pre-script.

GM Mort |

Sorry. The conversation there would be different if the party was with you. They would probably be less open. State here, or in game when you're ready to go to the inn.

GM Mort |

15 days of trail rations can be put on the dogs. Each dog at light encumbrance can stil carry 24 lbs more. Total would be 15 lbs for 15 days of trail rations.
Also about the tavern, I figure in a rural community where a lot of people are engaged in agriculture, breakfast and dinner would be heavy while lunch would be something light, and portable (sandwich/wrap). Is it that correct?

GM Mort |

If I were a farmer I sure as heck wouldn't be eating elaborate meals while having one hand on the steering wheel of a tractor...druther wait till dinner. I believe the same applies if you're out there in the open watching sheep. You'd probably be on the back of a horse/pony, eating while mounted.
Trying to get things sounding plausible. At least we don't get low tide for a week because GM doesn't go to the beach...
*blushes*

Mr. Whiskers |

Since we have room on the dogs, I will buy a hand axe and a folding shovel in my size. Having one of each in medium size would also be nice.
I will buy the dog food for all the dogs.
Each person should have their own trail rations, winter blanket and cold weather outfit.
Let me know if someone needs cash to cover buying something. Otherwise, I think we are set. Looks like I will be asking Theodora what scrolls she has since we may be able to afford one. No sense in asking before I knew if there would be money available.

Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson |

Good ideas: I will pick up axe and shovel, and a winter blanket also, do we need a tent?

GM Mort |

Go ahead...lol
For 4 people you'll want a large tent, which is 40 lbs. You'll need to switch the carnivore feed a bit, so that one Dog carries the tent.

if we really want one, Einar could carry it.

Mr. Whiskers |

I figured we have two people with reasonable survival skill, Einar and Mr. Whiskers. Either of us could build a lean-to or ice cave. I wasn't going to go for a tent.

Mr. Whiskers |

Rope!
It doesn't look like anyone in the group has rope. If available, I will buy silk rope. Otherwise guess it is normal rope.

![]() |

I would not say no to a tent if we have the money and carrying capacity. I have a feeling that we'll all be sleeping with the dogs for warmth soon.
EDIT: Don't I have silk rope?
EDIT TWO: Okay, let me get this profile updated NOW.

GM Mort |

Is Yuln's cold iron sword anything special?
Not anything special.
Also talking about Magicky is fine, Einar, everyone has all kinds of folklore on it.
What scroll do you want from Madame Theodora, Mr Whiskers?

GM Mort |

Will move you guys to next morning after Cadence responds/chooses not to respond to the little spoiler. For now, GM is off for breakfast. BRB!
Anyway, thanks guys for keeping the sweet sweet RP going on at night.

Mr. Whiskers |

What scroll do you want from Madame Theodora, Mr Whiskers?
I was fine with you surprising me.
Comprehend Languages, Magic Weapon, Disguise Self would all be worthwhile.
Also, is Silk Rope available?

![]() |

So is Freya's bloodline celestial or maestro? I'm dying to know what Mr. Whiskers found out.

GM Mort |

Celestial =) Probably for full flavour sake, if everything had run its course...she would take this prestige class and take over Mother Theodora as village wisewoman in time...

GM Mort |

I edited the post a bit because I forgot to include the lyrics >.<
Also...
The song is played at the Passing Out Parade of Young Officers in the Royal Navy as they march up the steps of the Britannia Royal Naval College; and at the Sovereign's Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for young officers joining the British Army, as the cadets march up the steps of their famous Old College building – to the beat of the slow march, after the tune "Will ye no come back?". This custom (or something very like it) is also followed in Naval and Military colleges in many other countries, especially members and former members of the Commonwealth of Nations. Examples include the Royal Military College of Canada, the Royal Military College (Malaysia), the National Defence Academy (India),[18] the Indian Military Academy, the Officers Training Academy (India), the Pakistan Military Academy, Bangladesh Military Academy and at the equivalent colleges in Singapore, Burma and Nigeria.

Mort --
Thanks for the musical exit from Heldren. That was lovely.
Now, a business item. Why are all the maps separate slideshows? Can we have the maps on the same slideshow so that I only have to hunt for one map in my slides app? Also... Can you please put a map link in your GM header?
Please?
Hmm

Crummock-i-Phail |

Well, from the look of it, there is one slideshow for the overall map of the area, and a second for what is probably all of the encounters... that doesn't seem like a problem to me...?

GM Mort |

I can't tweak map at this point of time :( I'm in class, wait till I get home which will probably be 10 pm today since I have some matters that will keep me out :(
