Isis' player is in the hospital again for an unknown duration. I'll keep you posted. Go ahead and RP on the main forum in the wake of the battle if you want, and I'll respond. For now, this is all I have, so I'm going to take some time to develop the next phase of the campaign. I'll shoot for having something up mid-January.

Revenge tier 5:
First off, Rando and I have corrected the Armor cost discrepancy.

Laser Net would allow a gunner to shoot down tracking weapons such as torpedoes and missiles as well as fire otherwise. The beauty of it is that it shoots them down at +10, overriding the gunner’s skill. It should cost 9 BPs itself and mount aft (3 BP for a new light weapon mount), doing 2d6. This would total 12 BPs. As we go to tier 5 we only get 15 new (the 5 freebies go away). Laser Net only fires to a single, Short increment (5 hexes) –that’s the tradeoff for a chance at shooting down missiles– and we have only two gunners. The other 3 BPs could go elsewhere, as could Isis’ and Sharlavaka’s efforts. Possibly we should bank them.
Of course the whole setup would be our only or nearly only purchase at 5th tier. How bad do you hate guided missiles?

Or we could upgrade to a heavy weapon turret mount (6 BPs), with a twin laser (12 BPs), which does 5d8 damage, and a make it a quad laser (6 more BPs), which would give us game-breaking 10d8 damage at long range, all for 15 net BPs and slim (15) PCU use.
Again, this would use all new tier 5 Build Points on one weapon system. How bad do you hate guided missiles? Less than doubling our turret weapon damage?

That said, I think we should adopt the heavy turret weapons and consider Laser Net for next time.

That was a quick hospital visit, hope that means it wasn't serious.

I really do apologize for looking interest in the flow of the space battle, I'm sure things feel a lot smoother on a tabletop. I felt a lot more limited in a fight like that then even playing a level one fighter. Really felt like there was little I could actually do to affect the overall flow of things.

The fight was fun, but I've been pretty badly distracted by my mum dying, and the funeral.

It's been a fun few weeks. F***ing cancer.

I think I'd personally prefer the Laser Net. I'm rather cautious about any weapon that can be described as 'Game Breaking' and I'd rather we not get blown up by missiles.

I hear you. My mom died of complications from cancer a few years ago. Kills way too many people. Sorry for your loss. May her memory be a blessing.

On the plus side I can now get Power Armour and go for a Mecha Lizard approach.

OOC: Ok, so far it's two votes for anti-missiles and one for heavy duty turret weapon. We have 15 total to spend and with aft mount the missile-shooting weapon costs 12. That leaves 3 to either bank all or part of or spend. Things we can buy for 2 or 3 include better shields and Mark I or Mark II defensive countermeasures. Something to bank for would be better armor. What are y'all's inclinations?

Remind me in such situations and I'll lower your DC based on that. So what might be a DC 15 Diplo check for Isis to carouse would be a DC 12 check for Quinn.

SerpentViolet, why are you putting OOC in front of all your messages? It's very confusing as to which are In Character and which are Out of Character.

Also, the easier way to do it would be the OOC code to turn such messages blue.

Ok, Quinn forfeits her vote by virtue of taking too long. That makes it 2 to 1 for aft light mount/laser net (the anti-missile weapon).
Since that costs 12 and we have 15 to spend, that leaves 3 to bank, spend, or both.
For 2 we can improve Shields by 10 from 60 to 70. For 2 or 3 we can add Mark I or II Defensive Countermeasures, which hinder tracking weapons and sensor scanning.
Esh, Sharlavaka, (Quinn)? What are your votes?

Things to bank for include better Armor or Sensors.

Ok, decided. While I can't actually dictate, next tier I'm going to insist on a heavy turret weapon and highly recommend a Power Core upgrade to match. Of course that's a while from now.

It's not a perfect solution; the d20 roll needed can go as high as 16 depending on the tracking weapon being shot down.

I suppose the question is 'would a +1 to Target Lock be more valuable than 10 more SP?' I think the shields will be more generally useful when we get shot at, and the net will (hopefully) catch any missiles we get otherwise. We can always crank it up during the next upgrade to really screw over guided weapons.

Would there be a way to find out where the searches have been going on, so that Wah coukd make an attempt to guess where viable places to search (if wr wished to) could be?

Easiest way would be to go to Alset and convince someone there to give you more information. Excepting that, you could try to hack Alset's computer, but expect it to be a pretty major system with strong defenses. That, too, would be easier from inside Alset itself, as you might find a way to access a non-secured terminal.

What would be the DC of that Favor (more info)? Also, Isis could provide a distraction for Esh to get to a non-secured terminal.

It's really annoying being usurped when Esh is supposed to be the team's hacker, but I'd rather us not have to fight security due to a tripped alarm.

I plan to word it so that Esh AND Isis both have a part in the process; I hate it when the dice screw a character's main area of focus. It strains verisimilitude.
