Locke "Firebug" Arkham |
That's got to be some tight bear hugging.
Locke's bow is lowered, but held, as Gwen grabs Bengeirr.
"...his resistance would be meaningless now, he's got no room to move."
StephNyan |
Urbar slings another stone and hits Bengeirr against his head.
Despite Bengeirr's total lack of movement, Eryzule's attempt to trip him fails.
Gwendallyn steps up to the loft and reaches over the balustrade, grabbing hold of the dazed Ulfen.
Locke lowers his bow when he sees Gwendallyn's grabbed hold of the enemy.
Round 4:

Gwendallyn
Tereze 7/18HP

Urbar 15/20HP

Urbar Anden |

Gwendallyn |
Ah yes. I see! Will correct it in my profile. Nonetheless two very epic shots with a stone and some cloth :P
I completely agree! I think it would have been hilarious if Urbar would have taken out the BBEG with just sling attacks. Would behave been the first time ever lol!
Tereze Amnell |
Tereze finishes her spell and calls forth her a creature of divine justice, A celestial viper.
The creature immediately crawls up his leg and bites him smiting against evil and injecting poison.
Snakebite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 + 1 more if evil.

StephNyan |
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Con damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Tereze's snake appears and bites Bengeirr in his ankle, poisoning him.
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Fiona looks at Bengeirr and casts a slumber hex on him, not giving him a chance to react to all that's happened since he got dazed.
Combat's over!
How you and Bengeirr end up:
Tereze 7/18HP
Urbar 15/20HP
Bengeirr -18HP, -2 Con, poisoned, and asleep
Gwendallyn |
Gwen immediately takes out her ropes and binds Bengeirr extremely tight. Once finished she lifts him up and summarily dumps him hard onto the ground. She then looks up to make sure all of her friends are safe. "Everyone okay? Ery? Tereze??" She smiles and nods at Fiona when her gaze comes across the young woman. "Well done, everyone! Now let's see what information this coward will provide." She makes sure to take away the magical lantern and kicking the Ulfen warrior hard in the ribs! "Wake up!"
Non-Lethal Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Tereze Amnell |
Tereze stabilizes the second guard, ensuring that there are no bodies for the guards cause the guard captain any distress.
Then she Heals herself and Urbar.

Cure Light Wounds - Urbar: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Eryzule folded his arms loosely over his chest and leaned against the wall near the northern door on the outside of the building. He watched out along the horizon of the area simply pleased that the fight was over.
StephNyan |
Gwendallyn's kick wakes Bengeirr up for only the briefest of seconds. He then passes out from all the hits he's taken.
One healing hex later Bengeirr's opened his eyes again. He starts talking when he sees there's no way out. "I have no idea what exactly happened in Skelg's vault, but this lantern has something to do with it. It has some kind of magic that opens portals and makes things cold. Don't ask me how it works..."
As a standard action, the wielder can focus the beam on a single living creature, which creates a small portal from the frozen north to the creature’s body. Cold energy leaks through this tiny portal, exposing the creature to a permanent cold environment. If the Beacon is focused on the creature for multiple rounds, the portal opens further. Any creature that dies from the environmental damage caused by the Beacon rises the following midnight as a frozen zombie.
Urbar Anden |
Tural grabs the lantern, careful not to point it at anyone except for Bengeirr, and inspects it.
"Any of you know what to do with it? It's not like I can detect any magic, yet."
Tereze Amnell |
Tural? Urbar did you submit for a name change ;)
Let me see if I can help...
She focuses a bit and casts Detect Magic.
Urbar Anden |
SSsssshhh!!! He's schizofrenic, but doesn't know yet! ;P
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Using Detect Magic...
Spell Craft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
With a tilt of his head, looking over the odd creation, the elf pokes his head fully around the door's archway.
"White Witches make the oil that allows this arcane wonder to work... I'd say...what, maybe two hours left in it? Regardless, you can play with its focusing lenses and open small...cold plane portals."
Ery slides into full view, his head tilted slightly as he approaches the device curiously.
"Mind if I? We have a perfect subject for testing so that I can show you..." His voice sounded distantly cold...as if he wanted to make the man suffer terribly and had found a creative way to do so.
"Alternatively the Oil itself can be applied to weapons to generate cold energy. A little frost bite to further emphasize death..."
Fiona Nic Cathár |
Sorry for disappearing for the last few days, had a *very* busy weekend at work.
Detect magic + Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Fiona, encouraged from the passing battle, shakes her head at the lantern. "I've heard of this kind of magic. The lantern itself acts as a focusing device - meant for ships - while the truly interesting thing is the oil it has as fuel. This oil is special - it can be made only by the white witches of Irrisen, or so the rumors say. These same rumors claim that some of those witches use the blood of innocent children they sacrifice to make this oil. I don't know whether that's true or not, but I wouldn't want to use this lantern myself or check out, really. When lit and focused, the lantern can open a portal to the witches' land, which isn't any place I would like to visit any time soon. I don't know why they chose to live there either... other witches often suffer from some form of insanity."
Tereze Amnell |
Oh Lords above. Zat is horrible. Can we destroy zis zing just on principle?
Or maybe just send zis child killing barbarian to meet ze makers of zis oil? Zey probably deserve each other.
Urbar Anden |
"We found the thing, now let's bring it back. Don't care about witches or faraway lands."
Urbar says in a gruff voice.
"We had a clear mission and now we have to find out how to cure the man. Bendeirr, anything you know about it that we don't?"
Urbar asks the bound up Ulfen.
"Or do we need to cut off a hand or a leg to make you talk?"
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
"Let's go try that?"
Locke "Firebug" Arkham |
"Interesting....one sees new things in the most unexpected ways and places. Ser Ery, do you still carry that wand of resistance to elemental exposure?
It was useful in the desert, and surely will be here, if we are indeed headed for an Iceberg."
Urbar Anden |
"Well only one thing for it..."
Urbar says as he draws both his swords.
"Here we go."
And he steps through on his last word.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
hitting himself with his wand of endure elements, the elf follows after Urbar.
"Sure..."
Tereze Amnell |
Tereze shakes her head at Ery's antics and steps through the gate.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
Ery also pokes each member of the party with said wand. He does not ask.
Fiona Nic Cathár |
Fiona winces as the others move into the portal - which emanates cold. She looks around to see that she remains the only one on the "good" side of the portal, then shivers and steps inside it herself.
Fortunately, Ery's magical wand removes all the cold's effects from Fiona.
StephNyan |
As you step through the portal, you find yourself in a strange ice-cave. Sunlight filters through the walls and ceiling, and three braziers give some warmth to this otherwise chilly space. Directly ahead of you, a tunnel leads through the ice, sloping steeply downward. Behind you, a shimmering portal hangs on what appears to be a main mast embedded in the ice. Following the mast downward, you can barely make out the blurry outline of a ship’s deck below.
There's a new map.
Locke "Firebug" Arkham |
As Locke stepped through the portal, the sight of the inner iceberg was surprising.
"Well, this is quite the scene, i must admit.
I've not ventured near icebergs, let alone stand within one."
Urbar Anden |
Urbar glances at the surroundings, seeing nothing special.
"Now... Where are these so called witches. Or whatever lives in these bone chilling caverns."
Still holding both his swords he ventures forth, trying not to break his neck on the icy floor.
No wonder the 'boss' was that easy... We weren't finished yet!
Tereze Amnell |
We should probably hurry before ze portal closes... Shall we?
She takes s quick glance around then heads down the ramp.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Eryzule, Lord of Tea |
"I don't have enough of this wand left to keep us forever...so Lets not stay longer than needed...as Tereze suggests, Shall we?"
The elf cracked his neck, casting Detect Magic as he looked around.
Detect magic!
Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
StephNyan |
The sloped tunnel is slippery, but after a long curve it suddenly opens into another cave at the rear deck of a ship. More braziers keep the worst of the cold at bay, but a wall of solid ice blocks access to the foredeck. A large drum stands on the deck, and behind it is a trapdoor leading into the hold.
Gwendallyn |
Gwen looks around at everything with an openly awed expression. "So, what do we do now?" She asks sheepishly. Evil artifact lanterns, magical portals to a frozen iceberg, and ships encased within ice were not exactly her forte. She looked to Ery, Fiona, and Tereze to lead the way. For the first time she suddenly felt like a backwater bumpkin and flushed with embarrassment at her obvious lack of understanding...
Tereze Amnell |
Looking around Tereze says:
Someone is obviously here as zose braziers do not keep zemselves fed. Unless of course zey are magic....
She casts Detect Magic and looks around. As she does so she says without thinking:
Did we bring ze lantern? I remember ze tapestry had a picture of a lantern holder on a ship in an iceberg. Anyone want to bet zat this ship will have a spot like zat and we have to use ze lantern zere to unlock something?
Urbar Anden |
Urbar glances around and seems unsure.
"Is this the front of the back of the ship? I think... I think this is the back. If we are to place the lantern we need to get to the front."
He opens the grate, temporarily sheathing his sword, and steps through after having two swords again.
"It's quite comfortable here but I don't want to stay here forever."
