Gwen returns Ery's smirk. "I imagine they could." She winks coyly. "But it would be such a terrible shame to wring your neck before your keen mind can wrangle the mysterious nature of this chest." She walks to stand above him, her feet straddling his head as she looks down at Ery. "Keep your mind in the task, dear. Mind on the task."

Ery gave an understanding nod, which did little to wash away the smirk on his face. I do believe I'm breaking her down. He thought as he continued to pat down the Illusion chest, a chuckle lightly escaping his lips as he thought.

The golden faces puzzle gives way, but not because of him.
"Puzzles... not for me!"
He yells angrily. Everyone's attention seems to focus on the smooth stone chest and Urbar joins them reluctantly.
"I think the chest isn't an illusion, the illusion might be hiding something of the chest."
He says as he bends over the chest and starts inspecting it. Believing the chest is real but something on the chest might be hidden.

Gwendallyn tries to see through the chest's illusion, but is unable to. Tereze suggests to just try to open the chest's lid, but then Eryzule dives onto the smooth stone chest and hugs it.

Eryzule and Urbar both get the same sensation as Fiona got moments earlier. They feel like the chest's illusion no longer affects them, but there's no visible difference to the chest.

Ery simply gets the wild Idea to act...he places his hands atop the 'chest' on either side of where a lid would be and motions to open it.

Eryzule gets a wild idea and simply opens the chests lid. Inside he finds a collection of material components for a wealth of spells (value 500 gp but 70 lbs. of weight). Fiona and Urbar see Eryzule open the chest, but to everyone else it appears the chest is still closed and Eryzule cannot open it.

With all chests opened you return to Grandmaster Torch. "Well I'll be, you actually opened all of them? Very well, I'll tell you where Nessian is. Nessian lairs in a new base of operations nicknamed the Pyramid of the Dog, which he has carved out of a ruin of half collapsed siege towers. You'll find the base just outside of Absalom."

Grandmaster Torch gives each of you a purse with gold pieces. "For opening more than I asked you to," he explains.

For opening all safes 100 gp has been added to your chronicle sheets. You've also completed this scenario's secondary objective, which required you to save all old men at the cliff and open at least 4 safes!

As he sends you on your way, Torch reminds you that "Should Nessian ever discover I disclosed this information, I'd view that as most unprofessional. Expect me to... spread the word... if that were to happen."

While heading for the Pyramid, make a Perception check.

Ery laughed, motioning toward the half-man woman of intrigue. He spun on his heel to face Vicard, walking backwards.

"Y'know, you may not enjoy my company, but you should at least be amused. To much frowning will make you less attractive, age you faster...I've chatting up Gwen, maybe her muscles prefer you?"

He looked to Gwen with a raised brow.

"That is, of course, that my previous hypothesis of her preferring women was in error."

Gwen rolls her eyes and sighs exasperatedly at Ery's constant attempts at divining her romantic orientation. She returns the elf's look with an irritated glance. "Or perhaps it is less about the gender, and more about the person. Take Tereze, for example. She is beautiful, kind and gentle, but full of spitfire when the dice are down. I find such qualities attractive and intriguing in someone." She smiles at the oracle before turning back to Ery. "Ery, you are attractive for an elf and might be good for a tumble in the hay, but beyond that..." She shrugs.

Fiona's newfound sense of focus dissipates shortly after the party leaves Torch with their purses heavier with gold. Her mind seems to return to the chest challenge, as she thinks over and over about how the group was able to open all five boxes without much of a challenge. Thinking about this success helps her keep some positive feeling, so she keeps doing that.

The others begin their regular banter, Fiona notices with part of her consciousness, but she is too pre-occupied with the solved box riddles to pay much attention to what they are actually saying, even though a small part of her seems to think that it is important. The boxes... now that was a good time, she thinks to herself. She does seem to notice it when her name comes up, but other than a small turn of her head she does not really respond to either Eryzule or Tereze. Her mood darkens shortly afterwards.

"Huh, didn't expect your muscles to be so supportive."

The elf says, a smirk over his face as he places a hand to her bicep. He tilted his head in agreeable thought while he contemplated her form in higher detail. After a moment the smirk cleared into a carefree smile, looking back toward Tereze.

"Hey, Blush all you want, Lady of light and undead smiting...I have a warrior's kiss! Oh yeah!"

He laughed triumphantly as he pointed to his cheek, a wicked grin flashing to the others. His attention drifted to Fiona which caused his excited smile to drift away.

"Fiona, where do you go?"

His words held a tone of concern as did his look seem some what sympathetic.

"If we run into trouble, we will need you capable of joining the fray...one way or another."

Oblivious to Eryzule's flirting with the other women, Fiona continues walking, engulfed in her thoughts. His direct question, however, brings her back to reality. "Me?," she said and fell silent for a moment, trying to formulate an answer. After what seemed to her as a couple of minutes but was probably not much longer than a few seconds, she adds while looking confused and slightly embarassed, "Aren't we all going to the same place? To find that Nessian in his pyramid? Did anything change?," she quickly looks around to look at the others' reactions.
Eryzule's second question causes her to fall silent. The voice in her mind bursts into evil laughing, You are so pathetic that even your presumed friends - that eccentric elf no less - are so certain of your incompetence and utter uselessness in any situation. Embrace your true destiny, woman! You know what to do - just do it! Fiona answers with her voice, although she isn't sure who she is talking to.
"I have my own way," she blurts, clearly under stress now. "I... captured that thug earlier", she adds a couple of seconds later, trying to cover up her (in)action during previous fights. The voice in her mind howls with laughter again.

Perception DC 15:
Fiona is slightly blushing, while a few tears begin to fill her eyes. Pressing her further will probably not end up well - at least for her.

"Very well, Fiona."

Ery relinquished any further pushing or prodding. Her answer was enough and he had been in the Calisterian houses long enough that there was just some things, no matter the mood or position, you didn't push.

"When this is all over, we'll hit a bath house, enjoy tea, and see which one of us can hold their liquor better."

The elf continued on his current path, checking his crossbow and weighing the odds of using the lighter, faster one he had recently acquired from his previous tea-servitor.

While you're on your way to the Pyramid the sun begins to rise for Oathday. Eryzule and Tereze suddenly notice an interchange of flashing green and orange lights coming from cliffs in the distance. After pointing out the signals Yargos jumps up. "I recognize this signal! The lights will send a team of Black Echelon operatives to attack the
Metro-Cathedral, an old church of Abadar!"

"Every Oathday morning, the priests of Abadar play the ritual tune on the Metro-Cathedral’s giant pipe organ to remind all of Absalom to honor its pacts. According to the codebook, when Black Echelon shuts down the giant organ in midtune, the sudden disruption becomes the signal for Silent Tide! The awaiting Armada will then approach to the city and
begin its attack run!"

"We should head to the Metro-Cathedral before we go to Nessian," Yargos urges.

Do you want to head to the Metro-Cathedral, or would you rather continue to the Pyramid?

Fiona let a gasp of relief when Eryzule decided to stop pressing her about her former performance. Her pulse did not return to normal yet when Yargos brought up some urgent matter to the group's attention. It seemed that everyone decided to change their course, but Fiona could gather that it involved undead in a church of some sort. Barely understanding what was going on, Fiona decided to keep quiet and just follow the others. After its last lash at her, the voice fell quiet but her thoughts continued to race repeatedly What does Eryzule think of me and my answer? And what about the others? Do they think I'm doing my part? The elf laughed, sending a wink to Tereze.

It's been at least an hour since those who took a point of nonlethal damage got it, meaning all the nonlethal damage is gone by now!

"There are many signals, for all kinds of different scenarios!" Yargos replies to Tereze and Vicard. "If I were to name all of them, Absalom would be long gone before I'm finished!"

Yargos picks up the pace, moving at a remarkable pace for a man his age. The moment of rest he took while you were busy solving the mysteries of the five safes apparently did him good. "We're almost there. Follow me!"

You nearly getting lost 'cause the old man goes the wrong way, but Vicard takes over and leads you straight to the Metro-Cathedral. As you approach the cathedral you hear a magnificent tune playing. As you get closer, the sound starts to break down and become patchy. Then a creepy moment ensues as the sound becomes a cacophony of off-key noise and then suddenly comes to an end.

"We have to hurry!" Yargos screams. "If we don't continue the music, the attack will start!"

When you enter the cathedral you see a massive organ in the back. You also see several Black Echelon operatives on the organ. Four are atop the pipes. Two are on the keys, standing next to the bodies of the two dancing priests they just killed.

Some distance removed from the organ is a woman, clearly a lowly supplicant of the cathedral, who tries to run away from the undead. She sees you enter and calls out to you. "Please save me! Especially you, handsome elf! Save me!"

Fiona follows the others in their hurry to reach the cathedral. As they draw near, the music emnating from inside reminds Fiona of her childhood, and how she and Elvira used to visit village fairs every once in a while and she would always love to watch the shows. The simple music there cannot compare to the resonating sounds here, she thinks to herself as the group barges into the building. The others take a while to adjust their eyes to the darker interior, but Fiona seems not to notice it. More undead are scattered throughout the great musical-mechanical device in front of the entrance, some corpses are scattered about and a living woman seems to be running away from the creatures. The stench of undead bones reaches her nostrils and she does her best not to retch.

Although she moves a few steps in, fear grips Fiona again, practically paralyzing her from further action. She ends up standing next to one of the walls, crossbow in hand but unable to shoot.

Move.

Fiona moves a few steps in, but fear grips her again. She ends up standing next to one of the walls, crossbow in hand but unable to shoot.

One more undead emerges from the room to the east. It also moves up to the fleeing woman, who continues to call out to you. "Help me!"

Rusted sickle: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10 Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

The undead swings its sickle at the woman, but misses her.

Of the two undead on the keys the easternmost makes circles with its hands. The mist at its feet spreads out from his position and enshrouds a wide area.

Looks like it's my turn to play the organ! Hey cold, dead and uglies, stop me if you can!

Double Move

Tereze enters the stage with her weapon drawn. She hurries forward, into the mist, while yelling for the attention of the undead.

While she enters the mist Tereze sees the woman who was just attacked hurry past her. The woman runs down the aisle, toward the doors of the church. "Keep them away from me!" she screams while withdrawing.

Not a single thing can be heard inside the mist.

"Huh..."

The elf says to himself as the woman runs through the doors, away from the church. He was a bit surprised in her expatiation. Especially since last he saw, she was surrounded by undead monsters.

"Well then, back into the fray I suppose."

Ery darts up the aisle then hops into pews near by. There he balances his crossbow, dropping his light crossbow on the seat itself while he kneels.

"Tereze, if it get's hairy, I know a barber...Also, if it gets troublesome, run out this way, Fiona and I will cover your escape...or Hell, just funnel them this way.

With that, the elf focuses his mind...and mouth...ready for something...anything.

Eryzule darts up the aisle and hops into the pews nearby, where he balances his crossbow and drops his light crossbow on the seat itself. He gives some advice that concerns hairy stuff and escaping to Tereze, and focuses his mind.

Another battle, another swarm of mist loving undead. Vicard curses in gnomish (it had the best flavor) as he runs forward. As he dashes up the aisle he passes the running organ player. He turns to her, as he sprints past.

Miss...Please stay by the door. We may need you to play the organ once we remove these undead. It is very important to stay by that door, close at hand!"With that he runs past her and plunges into the fog, reckless of being separated again.

Diplomacy on Organ player: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Run 60 feet into fog, past everyone. Tally Ho!

Urbar moves forward and joins Tereze. He ends up standing just outside the mist.

Vicard moves forward, past the woman who requested the party's aid. He tells the woman to stay close to the door, and the woman gives him a nod. "Our traditions should continue!" the woman replies, unaware there's another reason she'll have to play the music when the party leaves again.

It stays silent inside the mist, but suddenly one of the undead appears next to Vicard.

Fiona moves on, walking slowly next to the wall. Every few steps, she seems to stop and shiver for a moment, but she eventually reaches close enough to the fog. She sees most of the others walk straight into the mist, but remains outside for now, hesitating and her eyes full of fear.

Move again.

Fiona moves up to the wall of mist, but is too scared to enter it.

Rusted Sickle: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4 Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Tereze whispers to Urbar: I am moving around ze altar and heading to ze stairs under the organ. I figure if I start playing it will draw zem to me. I will wait for you at ze foot of ze stairs.

She moves carefully into the fog.
Moving around the altar in the following pattern: NW, W, W, N. If she does not meet undead continuing N, NW,N. If she runs into undead before reaching the end of her first move she will attack with her club, if it is beyond her for move she stops to not draw the AoO. If she continues the full movement, she ends under the downed priest.

Club: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Miss <21: 1d100 ⇒ 2
Club Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Tereze moves carefully into the mist and starts to climb 15 feet up to stand on the giant organ. When Tereze is almost done climbing one of the undead comes into view.

Assuming Tereze still climbs the last 5 feet up to stand on the organ:
Rusted Sickle, AoO: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5 Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

The last part of Tereze's climb provokes an attack, which misses her by at least two feet. Tereze then steps off the ladder and onto the organ.

The fleeing woman runs out of the building, where she notices Yargos. She walks up to him. "The others are all dead!" the woman says panicked.

"We'll do what we can," Yargos says with a solemn expression. "Please do stay with me, as you were told by my ally. You'll have to help us later. The city will be in grave danger without the organ's music."

While Yargos continues to explain the situation to the woman, you encounter no new undead.
