"Thank-you Sheriff. Are we likely to have time to look at her house before the curfew? To be honest, the thought of a nice bed to rest in after travelling through the edges of the waste is a pretty attractive one. You folk here in Mercy are so nice and kind."
Belinda Bluefoot

Belinda follows the sheriff's directions through Mercy to the house of the missing pathfinder.
"Sounds like we might just have time to look before we get a nights rest. I know I'm looking forward to hitting the sack. I wonder if they have baths ?"
Jaxal
|
Jaxal raises an eyebrow at the description of the ceremonies and curfews, and is sure something odd must be going on. But if they can avoid conflict, so much the better.
"Yes, let's get settled in."
| DM Amazing Red |
"Right this way."
Once you have finished asking the sheriff questions, he escorts you to the guesthouse, a large building at the edge of town that the people of Mercy leave open for visitors. No one else is currently visiting Mercy, so you have the building to yourselves. Before he leaves, the sheriff points out a large box near the guesthouse’s front door with an orange flag in it, and explains that it is your message box. He assures you that the townsfolk always provide for their visitors, and that they will deliver food to the box three times a day. Additionally, he tells you that if you need anything outside of curfew, you should place the orange flag on the box to signal him or someone else to come over.
Belinda Bluefoot

"Thank you. That is very kind, most hospitable."
She looks outside "Are there street lights at night? How will anyone see the flag? Not that I expect we'll need any overnight help. Do we have time to visit the other house, or is it too close to curfew now?"
Belinda Bluefoot

With a stretch Belinda looks at the others.
"Shall we go now, or are you all tired from the road, and would prefer to wait for tomorrow?"

Turning to Eleoheim, Thrracius whispers back in Elven,, obviously unsure of himself.

Thracius smiles and thanks the Sheriff as they make their way to the Guesthouse to settle in, bemused by the strange nature of the inhabitants of this backwards place.
"I think perhaps we should familiarise ourselves with her house tonight"
| DM Amazing Red |
The party easily finds Amenira's home. This well-kept wooden building, painted in festive shades of orange, is the only painted structure in Mercy. A pair of cashew trees flanks its front entrance.
You realize that this house was built in the last few years, and that it is newer than most other buildings in Mercy.
The interior is a mess of workbenches, tools, toys, and dolls in varying stages of completion.
It looks like the occupant packed up weapons, armor, and other items in a hurry.
A search of the toy maker’s bedroom reveals her spellbook and her journal. She has not written in the journal in some time.
You find the following page dictating the rules of Mercy
Unspoken Rules of Mercy
The people of Mercy are rather secretive, even about their social norms. I have deduced the following unspoken rules.
1) No meat. Everyone in Mercy is strictly vegetarian, but the opposition to the presence of meat goes beyond dietary choices and
seems to have a religious significance.
2) No cursing. They have a broad sense of what constitutes a curse word, and even polite words said in a rude tone are taboo.
3) No blue clothing.
4) No unleashed dogs.
5) No gambling. This includes benign references such as, “I bet” as an affirmative.
6) No spreading of false gospel. The townsfolk refuse to even acknowledge the existence of deities other than their own.
It contains alarm, burning hands, comprehend languages, dispel magic, enter image, feather fall, flaming sphere, floating disk, glitterdust, hydraulic push, identify, locate object, mage armor, memory lapse, resist energy, and sleep.
Thracius
|
Thracius follows the group through the darkening streets of Mercy and enters the orange home with unease, feeling like they were snooping but knowing it was better for the cause to find out where their fellow Pathfinder had gone.

Belinda takes her time looking around Takes ten for 18 perception
"Look at this diary! And all the rules she figured out."
Belinda checks out everyone to make sure nobody is wearing blue!
"I wonder where she was going in a hurry?"
Eleoheim
|
Eleoheim chimes in. "Perhaps one or more of us can talk to the villagers and see if they know more about her, or where she might have gone. I would make a poor choice in this, as most humans tend to not understand me for some reason. By the way, since they don't know we are Pathfinders, what do we tell them? That we were hired to track her down? That would have the benefit of not being a lie."
Jaxal
|
Jaxal tells the others that he wants to look around a bit, and looks to see what shoppes may be open this close to curfew. He is looking for anything strangely missing from a normal town this size.

Rumble suggests that might be a good exercise on the way back to the guesthouse. "Not want to get kicked out of town in first night, group should follow the curfew. Tonight."

Eleoheim will accompany Jaxal and make sure they are all back by curfew.

The party gets back to the guesthouse by curfew. As the sheriff promised, the villagers deliver baskets of food to the message box at sunset—fresh raw vegetables, berries, onion bread, cashew milk, and cashews, as well as jugs filed with fresh, clear water.
The night passes uneventfully and it is now morning. Tell me what you would like to do.
Jaxal
|
"I do not know, but if we are still here tomorrow, I think I will investigate."
"Well, I didn't sleep that well last night. But morning has come, and now we must investigate! Shall we ask around a bit first? See if anyone knew her and knows anything?"

Thracius
|
Thracius is troubled by the strange 'rules' penned by their mising comrade and makes their way back to the guesthouse pondering the thoughts, come morning he greets the rest of his group at breakfast with a shy wave.
"We erm could try to find out which God they worship? The altar in the mountains still worries me, I don't think it was just Gnolls up there."
| DM Amazing Red |
The temple is the largest building in Mercy. Wooden pews line the east and west side of the building, with a garden on the south. An enormous, twisted tree takes up the north side of the building. A pleasant walkway snakes around the tree up to the temple opening, which has no door. Animals made of twisted twigs adorn the branches, and vanilla orchids flourish in the shade. You are greeted by the high priestess Zuri though are a few other priests about as well. "How may I help you outsiders?"
Thracius
|
Thracius follows to the church, staring at the odd tree and adorning features with some interest, wishing he knew more of Religion beyond the lands of Kyonin so he could discern their significance. Unsure at the priestesses somewhat cold greeting, the shy wizard also keeps quiet.
RumbleRock
|
"Just want to pay respects. Heard good things about temple in Mercy. Hear has strong healing. And protection. Come to pay respects as travelers.". Rumble starts things off hoping the priest might have some loose lips.

"So Robari am good tree god? How long Robari protect Mercy? Bad things in this part of world...Robari protect against that too?"
Belinda is on vacation. I could use the rest of you helping with finding out relevant info here.
Jaxal
|
"Does this tree cause any other effects, other than protection, I mean? I am curious as to how it stayed so quiet last night, for instance."
Thracius
|
Thracius listens to the priests explanation, finding it oddly rebuffing, it isn't often that you meet a preacher unwilling to envelop more into the fold of their flock after all. After taking some time to get the courage to ask a wuestion, Thracius eventually stammers.
"Err... Well... Are we able to witness the teachings of Robari? I myself have not heard of the God, but I come from an enclosed place."
Thracius
|
Thracius nods politely to rumbles suggestion, somewhat anxious regarding unknown magic, but hoping the priestess may walk away so that he can try to identify any magic in the area.
"Please...yes let us see Robari"
