::puts on GM hat::

As we're coming to the end of this venture, do you, Alice, or Mez want to run something else (or does anyone else wish to run?) or would you guys like for me to run a scenario? I think that this is a solid group and I'd like for us to stay together for a while.

I'd like a bit of a break from running for now - I have mid-terms and assignments due over the next few weeks so I'd appreciate a bit of spare time! But I'm more than happy to play in something.

And yep, since this is the tail end, please everyone roll your day job checks if you have 'em and make sure your profiles have your PFS number attached.

I'm at uni at the moment, but I'll try and get those Chronicles done in the next day or two as we wrap things up.

I hope you guys enjoyed the scenario, and please let me know of any feedback, constructive criticism, etc.! I hope I made it reasonably spooky enough! :)

I'm in the process of trying to buy a house, so I'm severely limiting my gaming expenditures to just the RoW stuff. I'd run a First steps 1 for people, since Mez will 2 after this, but that's about all I can run.

I am probably going to have someone else GM because of my wife starting up an accelerated nursing school at the end of nex month. Unfortunately, too, the other two groups I just GMed FSII for are also interested in me GMing something, but I'm not sure if I'm up for it. :\

Lots of fun, and very spooky! It was quite enjoyable, Alice! So, if I am to run one for us, which would people be interested in playing?

I recommend The Frostfur Captives (a personal favorite), Murder on the Throaty Mermaid (also a favorite), or The Nightmarch of Kalkamedes, but I have access to any of the scenarios (benefit of being a VC), so whatever everyone wants, I would be willing to run. Just would need a few days to get set up.

I'm down for any of them. I just ask that we start after Saturday night. I may be able to go to a live action PFS game here, and would like my characters available, depending on what they run.

If you're offering to GM, that would be awesome! I've already received PC chronicles for Frostfur and Throaty Mermaid, but I'd be happy to play either for no credit, because they were tons of fun.

I was planning to run Night March for another group that Mez and Norine are both in, so who knows? I don't want cause any hassle for you.

It was a great adventure, Alice, and thank you for running it! If I did it someday I would definitely come back to steal some of your descriptions.

We still will need to do our Remove Diseases, though. Is it 150 gp, and is that automatic or rolled against the DC of disease? Since I saved my Bit of Luck bonuses, I could help a caster out 4 times in trying to cure Targost and myself, as I would read it.

Dracothis: I will be out of town and mostly off the internet until about next Wednesday or Thursday night. As I was suggested to Derek/Todric, you can consider my character a little quieter for the first day or two, but I definitely would like to play. ;)

~~ Matt/Norine

Day job, Profession (Sailing) roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

So, that is 20 gp, I believe.

I'll seriously play almost anything. Most of the scenarios I've played are season 0, so most anything else is pretty safe for me. :)

Norine, I'm just downloading the Guide to PFS right now to check up on the remove disease stuff.

Thank you for a very entertaining adventure Alice. I would love to have the chance to continue playing Targost. He is almost ready to level (one more adventure).
Thanks for the assist getting rid of this disease Norine, Targost will owe you one!!!

Just as a heads up, you should get 509 gp, 1 XP and 2 PP for this scenario. Can't edit the PDFs here at uni, but I'll do it tonight or tomorrow night.

Oh, seeing as how we're in season 5 now with updated rules, I'll be doing things the season 5 way in terms of XP/PP/Gold/etc. Although I don't think it necessarily affects you guys.

If you're planning on buying anything, I can sign it off on your Inventory Tracking Sheet as need be. (This goes for the pair that need remove disease.)

Season 5 Guide to PFS wrote:
An Inventory Tracking Sheet has been included at the end of this document and is to be used for tracking all purchases of 25 GPs or more, as well as what Chronicle sheet the item was purchased from (if any) and any consumables used.

Oh yeah, and as far as I can tell you have to roll the remove disease check normally. Time for those bits of luck!

Norine Remove Disease #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Norine Remove Disease #2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Targost Remove Disease #1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Targost Remove Disease #2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Luckily you both get the disease removed with one casting each... although you might want to donate to the church of Desna next time you're nearby!! ;)

(That's 150 gp and a condition cleared.)

Another question is this: Can I use my perform check to do a day job? If not, I'll just wait to put a skill point there next level. I'm thinking of applying two GM chronicles to Tod, so my plan is for him to be level 2 now.

I may re-allocate some ability points per the re-build rules.

Thanks Alice! You did an *amazing* job, and you gave me some inspiration for my own GMing!

I will be out of town also for the Labor Day weekend. I should be back at my computer by Tuesday at the latest.

EDIT: can we chip in for their healing, like we could for a raise dead?

Yes, you can specifically use Craft, Profession, and Perform for Day Job checks. Other skills can be used as Day Job checks via traits and vanities (offhand I know of Heal and Sleight of Hand checks...)

Although obviously you can't make a Day Job with your level 2 stats. Only the stats you used for this scenario.

Thanks for the compliments btw!

Also, yes, you can chip in for the healing if you want to.

Right, level 1 skill check rolling!

Perform (Day Job): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Must have been "shrieking" at that last club! XD

Would everyone be willing to share the cost of healing our friends equally? It would be 50 GP each if we did that.

And Alice, what should I do with purchases I'd like to make before the next session? Record them now, or later?

Ah, yes, the inventory tracking sheet. I'll have to get on that, and also mention it to my players. Somehow I missed that before - perhaps it is new?

I had also told my players that they could post things like day job checks and purchases on the discussion thread to the scenario so that there would be a permanent, verifiable record that way, too.

If we all chipped in on healing, it would be 50 gp each, I think. But, I wouldn't mind if people were saving for something special. (I think we could make a commitment as a group going forward, though, that big expenses like healing or Raise Dead would be shared as a group.)

Oh, and I had prepped the Frostfur Captives for a run sometime, just not yet. So, if we had an adventure or two before then I might have a better idea if I could commit to doing it. I've read that one, anyway, so I'd prefer to do another as a player.

The ITS is new for Season 5, but I don't know how to use it yet either. This is an issue for Dietrich too, because he's getting some other chronicles too and I don't know if I should make purchases now, or wait until the next game and put them on at that time.

ITS Download - there's a digitally form fillable version, by the way.

It's basically just a way to track your purchases. I just checked, apparently they rescinded the idea for GMs to sign the tracking sheet (that was the plan beforehand and I thought it was going to be quite onerous)...

Basically, purchases you make during a session or at the end of one should be put on that Chronicle and added to your ITS then. Purchases made after/before a session should be added to your NEXT Chronicle. Theoretically this is done and double checked by your GM before they sign your Chronicle, but I really can't see that happening, especially with online games.

And yes, this is a pain in the ass. I don't see the need for the ITS at all personally.

Do you see where it talks about the "25 gp value" number for making it on the ITS? I haven't seen it yet looking (or searching) through the new Guide.

Edit: Here is the link to a zip file with just the regular and form-fillable ITSs. The form-fillable one can be saved filled out, at least with the NitroPDF that I am using.

I already have a Wand of CLWs (46 charges). Should I buy another wand with the next 2 pp? I was thinking of Protection from Evil, Cause Fear, Command, Doom. Maybe Murderous Command (although the name sure sounds evil...).

I recommend not buying wands with spells that have saving throws, because the DC is based on the default for that spell level. (i.e. DC 11) Protection from Evil is a good one. So is Bless.

Yeah, I've been pretty close to death a fair number of times as a 1st-level character, in particular, but I tend to try to buy things with the hope that those things will make the adventures go easier and prevent that eventuality.

I also feel I should buy antitoxin, antiplague and such, so that I have some basic medical supplies.

After reading the discussion about aliases and PFS toons, I realized that Ebon was a alias, so i remade him on the PFS register, so should be all ok now. mostly just copied and pasted. it wouldn't let me use same name, cause he already existed so now it states his full name.

What's the rule in PFS about treasures that could/should be found on a opponent but which get used by the opponent in combat - are they to be found (that is, appear on the Chronicle sheet) or not?

Unfortunately, if I play the opponent a little smarter or more adaptively, I might have them use the potion, etc., but then it feels like I am ultimately punishing the characters (giving them less treasure) for being more successful (overcoming a more difficult oppenent).

In 'To Delve the Dungeon Deep' for example:

I took advantage of an extra round and had the illusionist skulk drink the potion of blur. It's listed in his combat gear but not specifically in the "Before Combat"/"During Combat" blocks. But, does doing so knock it off the Chronicle?

No, it doesn't, I don't think. What's on the Chronicle is available for the players no matter what, I believe. Not 100% sure, but I wouldn't think so.

Hi All,

Would anyone here, or anyone you know, be interested in running a scenario for 1 or 2 groups of 1st level characters? Both have gone through "First Steps II", and I have "First Steps I: In Search of Lore" prepped, but I'm not sure if I could do two groups right now. Since I'll probably have a better idea of how things will be in 4 to 6 weeks, I am wondering if someone else would be able to run a campaign in the meantime.

Thanks, Matt

Sorry Norine, I definitely don't have the time for that.

You shouldn't feel bad about telling them that you just don't have the time right now; that's just how it goes now.
