I think you should take both St. John and Triphylla as they can do the best to protect you.
Hopefully we might arrive by the time you need an extra help. Or just to see your victory :D
DM Fang Dragon
I guess I may have to bot :( I'd prefer not to though, its uninteresting for me.
Lope de Vega
Hi! Just a message to let you know you are not alone, and I am here reading how you pounce on the bad guy :)
St. John Smythe
[dice=Green: Perception DC 37]1d20+13 Natural 20 is often auto succeed, ad you did roll a 1.
Rules as written, skills don't follow that. You can succeed on a 1 and fail on a 20. Now it's your game so you can run it any way you want, we just need to know for the future.
DM Fang Dragon
I guess this is a house rule then, skills have a chance to succeed on a natural 20 unless it's impossible or would otherwise break verisimilitude. E.g. no jumping over the moon on a natural 20.
A natural 1 on a skill check isn't penalized.
Lope de Vega
I think with Tryp's multiattacks, she should be able to clear the images in one or two rounds either way. Hopefully on time for the others to pick up on the work!
DM Fang Dragon
Triphylla I think I forgot to say what the concentration check was for, it's to cast defensively, so no AOO.
DM Fang Dragon
Not feeling motivated enough to bot Diana tonight, sorry! I hope Diana's player is OK but unless they come back before the end of this combat I'm going to have to retire them permanently.
Lope de Vega
Very well timed Diana! :D
Diana Lotheed
As much as I'd like to help, it should be just St John's turn now - my initiative order should have been updated to just before Earl Yander as a result of my readied action.
Readied action rules:
Your initiative result changes. For the rest of the encounter, your initiative result is the count on which you took the readied action, and you act immediately ahead of the character whose action triggered your readied action.
Triphylla Achlys
Hello world.
Valeria Turanor
Yes, I do exist
DM Fang Dragon
Good to see you here, does anyone have any immediate actions they want to take in game?
We're now about 2/3 of the way through this book, the major part left is getting to the bottom of what is going on at the encircling bower.
Triphylla Achlys
This is book 3, correct?
It seems to me that although we killed Commander Staubel, Tallgrasses is still a threat to the stability of the region. It still has the potential to make war. Am I missing something there?
DM Fang Dragon
Without the commander holding things together, the remaining officers at Tallgrasses are rudderless, there'll almost certainly be infighting and recriminations - they totally failed at maintaining basic camp security. Morale was already not great, I expect as food and more critically alcohol supplies run low over the next few weeks there'll be a wave of desertions.
Also you achieved the story objectives, going back there will take a good few months of real time to wrap up and I'm not sure that's such a good idea :)
Lope de Vega
Barely did it through, but seems Lope also survived the go dark :D
Cool, if we think the Tallgrasses issue with dissolve without leadership, it looks like we are mostly done here.
Given what you say, I guess the only real issue for Yanmass remaining is the Cult. We have not done much on that regard, and it seemed there was not much to do when we went there to the theater, but I seem to remember Triphylla found something suspicious on an infiltration there.
Maybe we can give it a second look and see if the cult is really a threat or what.

I'm here just battling another cold. Lucky our heroes never get sick!
Triphylla Achlys
@DM, will you re-introduce the event or should we just go with what we encountered previously, as you have reposted? I was holding for a new establishing post but we may not need it.

I've been really busy and haven't had much time for this game of late, sorry all. I guess that shows, I notice interest had dropped way off.
Anyway as a reminder, you're looking into the cult of the twilight child. There is a rumour that the twilight child is in fact prince Carrius back from the dead. Carrius is the elder brother to princess Eutropia who died in a riding accident when he was little. Oddly he couldn't be resurrected and the reason for that was the subject of much gossip, at least behind closed doors. If he did come back he would be the heir to the throne.
But this all begs many questions, not least of which - if this truly is Carrius did he come back willingly? What are we actually dealing with here, is he all there? Taldor has already suffered one mad man on the throne after all.
Lope de Vega
Well, if he is alive, that would be good reason for not being able to resurrect! It would complicate things up about the throne, but I guess our job here is to find out the truth.
Triphylla Achlys
Sorry, I'll post later tonight
Lope de Vega
That movie, it is one of my favorites for sure. I heard once due to the amount of time that takes to become a master on the piano and other skills he learned, some fans calculated he was trapped for some hundreds of years.
Valeria Turanor
Sorry I've kind of pooffed on you all. I haven't disappeared entirely I've just had troubles keeping up with this game for a while. Too many PCs with ties to mine that have pooffed on us off and on has taken its toll on my continued motivation.
As I recall we are fairly close to the end of what we are running aren't we? I know we weren't doing the whole series of books, but I wasn't quite sure where we are in relation to how far we are going to go.
I plan to try and get a post up today.
Triphylla Achlys
Unless DMFD wants to test his luck recruiting again, I'd be satisfied completing this book and calling it.
Valeria Turanor
Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not unwilling to keep going or even asking for it to end, I just don't recall which book we were even on any more and what teh last one was going to be.
DM Fang Dragon
I was planning on doing book 4 but could stop at the end of this book if you want.
Lope de Vega
I am up for continuing. We have certainly been sloppy this last half a year though.
DM Fang Dragon
I'm not sure that everyone does have magical disguise, certainly some of you do.
DM Fang Dragon
Lets see:
Triphylla - Invisibility
Lope - Disguise Self
St John - ?
Valeria - ?
Diana - Has Disguise Self in her spellbook, but not sure if she's still here
Esinti - Decent stealth modifier and has Elixir of Hiding.
Triphylla Achlys
St John has Triphylla's Disguise Self extract and Valeria has the magical hat from the previous book.
Lope de Vega

This is what I did understood. I don't think Diana and Esinti are still with us :/
Their last posts where early November and September respectively.

Unfortunately you might be right :( I'll have to think about recruitment but in the meen time the minions of hell grow weaker, however you grow stronger! I forgot to level you up earlier, you should be level 9 at this stage.
Right now we're in the last quarter of book 3 and my original intention was to run an edited book 4. I expect you to be level 13 at the conclusion of this game.

getting a post up today
DM Fang Dragon
Ok so all the currently active players have a method of disguise or invisibility. As a reminder this is the map of the lower level. There are five unopened doors, let me know which you'd like to try.

I'm really sorry for disappearing again, everyone. The end of the year was particularly taxing for me, and I'm only now trying to get back into the games.
I still have to read back to see where we are (last thing I remember is us having taken the Earl in), but it seems we're investigating the cult and trying to sneak in? I have no idea yet on how my spells are for the day (or even which day it is), but I do usually have Invisibility prepared on my 2nd level bonus slot. Plus, if a simple disguise would do, I have some Sleeves of many Garments, if those suffice.
Will get a post up after I get up to speed.
Edit:

What level are we supposed to be? This post made me think we're supposed to be at 9, but I haven't leveled Diana past 7 yet. Mainly so I know what spells I'm supposed to have available :).
Triphylla Achlys
Glad to have you back, Diana!
Lope de Vega
Good! :_D
I think the garments should work, as they help you dress like a cultist.
DM Fang Dragon
If you could all post your lvl 9 updates soon that would be great :)

Apologies for my recent absence. Looking for a new job and after two months with no bites suddenly I have a flurry of interest. I'll try to lvl up tomorrow or friday at the latest.
