As the creature misses the Undine Adriana cleaves into the beast as she drops it to the ground

They were weakened versions so lower HP and no DR ect.

Alistar you are fine it is how we learn. But for future reference if you go down you do not die completely until you hit you total con as a negative also when someone heals you it takes a move action to stand back up which in turn also provokes an AoO from the creature yet again. Sometimes it is best to stay on the ground until the creature moves away from you :)

With that said, Z'hor'll will start a thorough search of the place. he takes 20 on a search

You just find the expended scroll near the portal drawn on the wall and a lot of yellow cap mushrooms growing all about the back area.

Maybe someone with a Perception modifier greater than +4?

"Those things...they were demons?" Ishingka is slightly unnerved at her bloodline for a moment, then grows thoughtful. "but that old man couldn't have dwelt among them, could he? He must have been elsewhere."

There is nothing more in the room. The demons were the 'assassins' that were sent to kill him as he inadvertently summoned the demons with the scroll

"Perhaps it is time to report back?" Zoren suggests.

"...so, he was an old fool who lived in a sewer and used a scroll? Bah, I wanted a portal," says Ishingka.

"Let's gather up all of the evidence, what little there is, and head back to the lodge. The old fool must have found the scroll, and thought he could use it to summon an army, or something. Truly a sad thing."

Ishingka picks up the scroll and tucks it away. "I don't much feel like touching these mushrooms. They probably drove him mad, or something. Well, at least we got to wipe out some Wyverns and…Sinashakti, those demons were nasty! Were I a proper lady, I would have brought a fan to keep those vapors away!" She chuckles, showing her tusks, and prepares to head out.

"Bah! I'll pick a couple up. I don't have to touch them, do I?"

Z'hor'll will use Prestidigitation to brush some mushrooms into one of his spell component pouches, after transferring its contents into his other pouch.

Sorry I lied. The following items are mixed among the
wreckage of the vaults: brooch of shielding (30 charges),
potion of enlarge person, screaming bolt, wand of shocking grasp
(50 charges), and a gold necklace worth 300 gp. Was hiding on another page.

The group gathers up the possessions and evidence as they head back and report all of the findings to the Venture Captain. His brows cross a bit. Venture-Captain Caudron Wallace is more relieved than disappointed that there is no otherworldly portal in the sewers, but mostly self-satisfied that the whole thing was a waste of his time as he predicted.

What do you suggest that we do with the old man?

I will have chronicle sheets out later tonight. This is kind of a different ending scenario as it just turns out to be a crazy drugged up old man that was raised on the mushrooms and whatever his father told him.

yes I am sure that the Almsman would care for him. That is a good suggestion Adriana. I will see that it gets taken care of.
