Ishingka Thulkarian |
The bloodrager exhales a sigh of relief as her welts and sores disappear. "Happy stick indeed, Z'hor'll. Well, we certainly paid the toll to pass north; I say we take a look…unless that rubble plans to fall, of course."
-Zoren- |
Not sure from all the healing that went on, but I'm pretty sure Zoren is fully healed. 14 hp that went to him I think? At least 6 that I know of for sure.
He also has dr 5/fire so the alchemist's fire doesn't bother him.
Zoren allows the fire to roll over him and kill some of the spiders crawling on him. He puts his vial away.
"Thanks for the healing. Now let's keep going."
GM Tyranius |
As the group heals their injuries they make their way further down the tunnels, traveling east from the sewer junction. You soon reach an intersection where a minor sewer line intersects with a major sewer line from the south. Graffiti covers much of the walls here, most of it simple drawings.
Prominent among them is a large stylized drawing of a wyvern in shiny gray paint. Also among them is an image of a skull crawling with bugs and an arrow pointing back to the west the route that you came. Another drawing is that of a beggar's bowl holding a coin and a key with an arrow pointing to the south. Underneath the picture of the bowl is the word "Almsman"
Ishingka Thulkarian |
"It doesn't take a genius to guess that these are markings left by beggars. Well, I suppose by the Wyverns. I say we head towards the Almsman."
I take it there was nothing to the north?
GM Tyranius |
If you men the initial north with the bugs that was all caved in. but otherwise there is nota route north from here currently.
GM Tyranius |
The group continues to follow the signs that lead towards the almsman.
Ahead a faint light glimmers in the dark. Slowly it resolves
into a crude lantern held by a toothless old beggar who holds
a chair leg in his other hand. Beside him stands a scrawny
youth, similarly armed but obviously terrified. Behind the two
derelicts is an open door bearing the symbol of the beggar’s
bowl, coin, and key.
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
"Friends, no need to be at arms, we are all friends here, are we not?" Z'hor'll turns to the old man. "Might you be the Almsman that we are seeking?"

Ishingka does her best to not look intimidating, but keeps an eye out for potential dangers.
With a roll like that, I could have done the Diplomacy as well...
GM Tyranius |
The old man eyes the Adriana warily as she approaches. “If yer intentions be peaceful, Abadar makes you welcome.”
The two men move aside to let you pass.
Beyond the door, a short flight of steps leads up into what
appears to be the basement crypt of a church of Abadar.
Perhaps two dozen beggars huddle among sarcophagi, some
sleeping, some haggling over bits of junk or scraps of food
laid out on blankets. A tall man in clean robes wearing a plain copper mask walks among them.
As the group enters he responds coolly and says, “If you respect this sanctuary, I offer you what sanctuary I can. Otherwise, begone!”
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
Z'Hor'll thinks about it a little bit, and replies, "Sir, is there anything we can do to help here? We will honor your sanctuary, but it seems perhaps you could use some help here?"
GM Tyranius |
The masked man listens intently to Z'Hor'll and Adriana before he speaks. I have some information on Prince Gandros. You can indeed help out our sanctuary. Those Steel Wyverns have been demanding a higher tribute than I can afford. They want me to steal from the temple above or give them access to it so they can steal from it... I will not do that but they have threatened me that they will destroy his sanctuary and beat anyone within it senseless if I do not pay.
I swore a vow not to take up arms, but I have organized this workforce into a meager resistance anyway. The Steel Wyverns are due to visit within 2 hours but most of the people here are too sick with filth fever to be of much of a resistance. If you help I will tell you all that I know of Prince Gandros.
Ishingka Thulkarian |
"If you're looking for assistance in eliminating the Steel Wyverns, then look no further," says Ishingka, stepping forward with a savage grin on her face. "We took out three on the way in. They won't be a problem." She raps one hand on her shoulder spikes.
Her voice softens a bit. "We may be able to help some of your people's sickness. No guarantees, but we'll give what we can."
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
"Yeah, taking care of the Steel Wyverns sounds like something right up our alley. We've already come across one group of them. Say, we've got a couple of tonics they had that help against filth fever, would they help you and your people?" blurts out Z'hor'll, before he's able to confer with his team.
GM Tyranius |
Thank you The man says as he tilts his head to the side. The Almsman takes the filth fever tonics from Z;Hor'll These will be quite useful.
Now that you will help will you give e assistance on getting the wounded and sick out of here. The man taps a stone at the back wall where stone slides away. This is the passage to the temple above that they wish for me to raid. I will hide the sick and wounded here. Tap this stone when they are taken care of and you will receive the information that you desire.
Map is up above. You have under two hours to set up defenses. The room contains no furniture other than immovable sarcophagi, (3 feet high) a wooden plank. The doors in the sanctuary are sturdy wooden doors. Let me know when ready
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
Z'hor'll takes position behind one of the sarcophagi. He sets his bow on the top of it, using the heavy stone fixture as cover. "I will try and trip the first one through with my Hydraulic Push. I've learned a couple of tricks where I can trip, or disarm, or spray in the eyes, instead of just pushing back. It is a really neat trick, and I'd love to get the chance to try it! Just please leave me with a line of sight on the eastern side of the landing." (I have marked this square with a "z") "Once I have done that, I can start inspiring you again, with my tales of victory!"
Ishingka Thulkarian |
"We may want to keep one of those tonics..." says Ishingka, eyeing the disappearing vials. "No guarantees, I said, grar!" she says quietly to the bard.
Ishingka looks at the stairs. "We don't know how many are coming; let's use every trick we have. We have two Tanglefoot bags; they can be used on the stairs by Adriana and me. Yes, the women can be in front," she says with a snicker. "Then we withdraw and splash the stairs with the remaining alchemical fire--or save those if we prefer to. In any case, we'll have a frontline of greatsword and claws, or our ranger friend can step up to the front and Adriana withdraw to heal if need be. I think a chokepoint is good, though. Let them come and get us, as it were."
"Hm...although this may get in your line of sight, Z'hor'll. How do we resolve this?"
General duh--they would be coming from the south, right?
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
"Actually that's fine. Forgot I don't really need a clear line like an archer would... just need to see 'em. They'll move up to you, I trip them, then you whack them!"
The undine bard looks positively excited by the chance to play with his water tricks.
"sorry... just trying to be helpful."
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
Are we ready?
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Let's determine who will throw acid and/or fire first. I don't think we've used any acid, and that's a short throw. Same with the fire. I would move up our conformation one set of sarcophagi, maybe two. If you have a happy stick out and are within tapping range, Ishingka can fight for quite a while. :D
Adriana Korinne |
Adriana frowns slightly "I'm not particularly good at throwing things"
Firstly, I wouldn't have a good chance at hitting with a ranged touch attack, and secondly due to lacking +1 BAB its more harder for me to then take out my two handed greatsword.
-Zoren- |
When the almsman said that some of the people had filth fever, Zoren's eyes lit up as he showed interest in them. Oooh, disease! he thought to himself with a slight smile on his face.
While thinking of how to protect the diseased from the pretend thieves and thugs(He thinks they are pretend thieves because he thinks they can't be as good as him) he says "I can hide by the door and when they all finish coming in I can use my power to make it dark. Then someone can throw the fires at them while not worrying too much about me since fire doesn't bother me too much."
Zoren also has craft(locks). Would that help in locking the doors or is my thinking off there?
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
"But, Zoren, if you make it dark, how will we see? Oh, wait, that's right... I am too used to adventuring with humans and halflings... we can all see in the dark! Aren't our dual heritages totally awesome?
"I am cool with that, Zoren. Anything to make the enemy's task more difficult."
Ishingka Thulkarian |
"I love this plan. I believe Alistar cannot see in the dark…hang back until that clears, dear ranger," the half-orc says with a chuckle.
I'm thinking the locks could come in handy, namely giving us a surprise round, but that's sort of up to the Rule of Cool and the Rule of GM
GM Tyranius |
You will not have the time to craft a lock and implement it in place
I will move this forward in the morning
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
I am good, but I have moved the two melee experts close to the door. I hope this is ok.
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Look at you moving the ladies around. Did you use your water powers? :P That works, unless Adriana wants to switch out a better thrower. We have a 10' increment on the fire, with Zoren hitting them with darkness first.
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
So, I think we are good, GM
GM Tyranius |
Laughter and footsteps can be heard approaching from the
west. A voice calls out “Almsman! What say you? Are you
resisting or giving us what we want? I hope you’re resisting!”
Four thugs and a leader call out to the Almsman
Ishingka Thulkarian |
A muscle stands out in Ishingka's jaw as she awaits the thugs.
I intend to toss that fiyah and then use Intimidate in the first round. Oh wait, first round might be a surprise round. Anyhow. If you had that skill we could Twintimidate….never mind, that sounds like a reality show.
Z'hor'll B'bblebr'x |
The undine comic is quivering in an attempt to contain himself. So many possibilities for jokes... So many ways this steel wyvern gets turned into his straight man.
He holds back for now, but is unsure how long he can hold out
GM Tyranius |
Almsman! You defy us by blocking these doors? Tear them down boys.
You hear a crashing sound of a battering ram against the door.
Battering Ram 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Battering Ram 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
The door begins to slinter as he cracks against the onslaught.
Battering Ram 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Battering Ram 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
The third strike smashes the door right off of the hinges.
Get in there and rough up the Almsman boys.
Randalan begins to sing an inspiring song to inspire his men on pillaging the poor. Inspire Courage
