"Excellent Erastils lodge then wand then back down or elsewhere? "

RPGGGM |

Also, maybe acid flasks for those who normally would like to throw alchemist's fire? Or are we good for those?
Sort of an autonomic response for PFS characters confronted with a swarm. ;)
I'm tied up at work right now but will post later tonight when I'm able.

RPGGGM wrote:Sorry guys. The site's been buggy this week.No kidding... I've gotten goblins fairly often in the last while. usually just after I try to compose a long post.
Yeah, let's hope the site stays intact for Siege of the Serpents...

Poshment Underhill |

"Sewers. Almost as fun as the open dirt road, or a mountain pass." Scarlet shrugs. "The smell is stronger, though. No worries, Alia. I'll make sure you don't drown down there- what a way to go, eh?"
[/b]
Posh groans at the mention of drowning in the sewage after what happened with him slipping in a terrible attempt for a jump.
"Excellent Erastils lodge then wand then back down or elsewhere? "
Posh looks up awkwardly then.
"I'll wait outside. I don't feel comfortable in there or near that man..." he states as he has seemingly forgotten the state his cloths are currently in.
RPGGGM |

Erastil's Lodge (a hair before the healing burst)
"I get the feeling you are avoiding me. I set Mrs. Obedsov on 'em whose stories comprise the verbal components of every sleeping spell ever made and a few that weren't. If you ever want to see them awake again you'll come back in an' quick."
Inside, Father Keegh has the party in the hands of a Mrs. Obedsov, to wait in the functional temple gathering room where a bunch of local women including Faeria of all people are sorting donated goods for the local poor. The middle-aged Mrs. Obedsov is a bit of a gadfly. She tells you about her and her husband a local tanner of some repute, her recent victory over her neighbors in the spring pie baking contest. She inquires about each of you--"What is it that you do?"--often drawing comparisons to herself to whom you would almost equal were it not for just one little quibble or another. Wandering girl warriors weren't done in her day in fact she was with child when she was young having already gotten married. She looks aghast at Scarlet's upper lip. "Are you attached yet Zokon? My daughter Eumelia is just over there sorting the children's clothes." And so on.

Scarlet Scarab |

"Wait, you like the smell, Posh? I thought I was the only one." Scarlet raises her eyebrow in confusion and intrigue. Scarlet debates waiting outside with Posh (he did it first!) but notes her injuries are too severe. A chance at free healing is too good to pass up.
Scarlet is glad to hear Faeria is able to help the poor. Hopefully she found some kind of purpose.
However, Mrs. Obedsov makes Scarlet very uncomfortable. Love ain't her thing, and she's not the kind to sit back and let others do the fun stuff. And children? Not even on Scarlet's list.
Z-Zokon? He's got better things to do than- Scarlet shakes her head and keeps her mouth shut.

Posh just shakes his head
"A groan of pain. I think you just reminded me I might have swallowed some of that water." he seems to change into a lighter shade of pale for a moment and just leans up against the walls as Scarlet makes her way inside.hmm...this gives a good opportunity here...I was thinking about Posh having no religion at all. That does remind me about an argument of Athism in Golarian.
"I just don't feel comfortable being near such a sight and having your lord leering down on me with his judgement." he pauses for a moment and looks up at the old man "Don't take offence. I have no personal problem with you, but with all I have done in the past I do not feel welcome in your temple."
He looks around the town, avoiding Keegh's eyes.
Bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

RPGGGM |

"Nobody's lookin' down on ya son. And nobody's keepin' you out. In fact what with the stink out here I'm surprised there aren't more folks inside. Anyway, as you may have noticed there ain't no lock on the lodge so you just come in when yer ready."
Shepherd Keegh enters the lodge and blesses y'all (all of you that went inside anyway) with his soothing presence.

Zokon Santyev |

Booyah!
Zokon kindof smiles at Mrs Obedsovs suggestion.
"Still plenty of work to do mam before I can settle down"

![]() |

[/ooc] They are though, very obviously concerned by how quickly the group seems to have gotten into trouble and council you all during a prolonged preparation period to give up the 'adventuring lifestyle' and find other 'young folk,' marry, settle down and raise children with. Keegh in particular notes, that even the cat in the party seems to have had more sense the rest of you.[/ooc]
"Ha! You sound like my Aunty Liana. Well, she's not really my aunt, but that's what we all ended up calling her. Never interested in anything aside from who is marrying whom."
"Shepherd, we do appreciate your help, but our lives have taken different paths than others. Perhaps one day our lives will settle as you recommend, but for now we cannot shirk the responsibilities given us. When there is work for your hands, no sense putting it off. Just put your nose to the grindstone and get it over with."
"By the way, shepherd, you wouldn't happen to have a wand of cure light wounds lying around that you could part with, would you? We'd be happy to pay for it, of course."
"So..." Numalar looks around at his companions. "Shall we be off?"
If the temple doesn't have a wand to sell us then we could head uptown to buy one. After that... back to the sewers?

Celyne |

Celyne ruffles Luna's fur with a little laugh when the notion is mentioned that the cat has more sense than the rest of the party.
"You know, he may have a point... "
good thinking to ask him about a wand - might save us a trip even if no money saved

"I don't have any doubt you're a hard workin' bunch, but don't forget what it is you are working for." The Shepherd says stroking his graying brown beard.
"By the way, shepherd, you wouldn't happen to have a wand of cure light wounds lying around that you could part with, would you? We'd be happy to pay for it, of course."
"We may be big, but we ain't that fancy. You might try the temple of Abadar though."

Alia of the Blade |

"Abadar? Can't say I'm very fond of them. They contribute their part to society, I suppose, but I can't quite...align with their views. If it's the same to you, I'd stay here and we meet up back at our exit point in an hour?", Alia suggests to the group, in response to Keeghs suggestion.
Following that, she'll head on over to Faeria:"Hi, I see you're helping out here? How are you feeling?" Basically just trying to get a feel as to how she handles her new-found sanity...and see if she seems trustworthy(to that end, I would ask Shepherd Keegh what he thinks about her). I still do have her spellbook, if it seems her past deeds were indeed caused by her mental condition, I would like to return it before we leave this village...(I assume there was plenty time to copy the spells since we picked her up)
If after the talk with her there is time left, Alia would go on ahead, partly to be there in time, and partly to sate her curiosity...wondering if Posh would be at the meeting place, too, or his problem with temples is selective.(as in, will he tag along to Abadar and just avoid Erastil, or does he not like Temples in general and prefers to wait at the sewer entrance)...

Zokon Santyev |

"I'm with you on that not aligning with Abadars views, hoarding away money is more like an evil dragons behaviour rather than a god of the peple... but they will probably sell us good quality merchandise"

Scarlet Scarab |

Scarlet shrugs. "Abadar's a little tight. But they do know their jewelry. Uhh, not that I'd care. Let's get the wand and head back down to the sewers. I'm certain whatever is down there heard the explosion, too."
...obviously, Scarlet does care about jewelry, and there seems to be some embarrassment about it.

Posh will wait outside, avoiding Abadar somewhat moreso. Could always question- I mean roleplay a bit to see if Alia is able to pry him open a bit. I'm assuming a lot of this, including what Scarlet has said has been inside the temple so Posh hears nothing.

RPGGGM |

The grand white-washed temple of Abadar sits near Restov's civic and monetary center occupying a spot on the town's highest hill away from the stink of the Coppers. Clean, crisp, white and gold robed attendants greet you near the doorway (one of them with a tithing tray upon which a few token gold and silver coins lay showing the local noble's generosity).
"A wand? Why of course." After consulting his abacus Brother Vahault comes to the figure of 750 gp for a white wand with a golden cap fashioned in the likeness of a key.

Alia of the Blade |

@Posh, thats why i pointed out my actions...if the agreed meeting place was where we exited the sewers, we could meet up there ahead of time and talk a bit, see if we manage to get posh to open up a little. I would have done so right there, but while I hope we get to spend a lot more time together, the business with Faeria is bound to take place before we depart, so aimed to do that first...

Roles reversed, he'd certainly make certain Faeria was fine first. He does worry, as he had hoped to save many of the bandits, but not enough to enter the temple. I'm still coming up with ideas for his past and personality, but I think it should be obvious to everyone he's the kind of person who hides his pain behind a smile rather than confronting it.

Scarlet Scarab |

but I think it should be obvious to everyone he's the kind of person who hides his pain behind a smile rather than confronting it.
Scarlet hasn't noticed yet. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to this.
"I guess we'll visit Abaddar and buy the wand. First thing's first though, I'll wave hello to Faeria and make sure she's OK."
Scarlet makes sure to greet Faeria. "Hey. Thanks for doing this. Sometimes happiness is best found in helping others, you know? I would shake your hand, but it's pretty dirty."

![]() |

"Nobody likes Abadar, eh? Well, you could do a lot worse around here. If you don't like the callous nature of Brevic justice, you could wish for a bit more influence by Abadar. Abadar isn't just a god of bankers. He's the god of commerce, trade, and civilization. Abadar thinks that the lives of everyone are improved when you build cities and bridges and roads. He believes in the rule of law and the protection of rightfully earned property, both of which are issues in the Stolen Lands and we probably wouldn't have such a problem with bandits down there if Abadar's influence were stronger. I think the ones that offered us our charter may have been inspired by him. No, I have no problem with Abadar."
Numalar looks around at the city surroundings.
"Brevoy is balanced between Abadar and Gorum, with Pharasma in the middle. Now I understand why military men venerate Gorum, but he is so wild and bloodthirsty that when he is honored by the ruling class the country teeters on the brink of savagery. If it weren't for Abadar's influence, this whole country would have fallen apart long ago."
Numalar shrugs.
"I'll be happy to deal with the priests of Abadar if nobody else wants to. I wouldn't mind an escort though if I'm going to be carrying all the money."
"A wand? Why of course." After consulting his abacus Brother Vahault comes to the figure of 750 gp for a white wand with a golden cap fashioned in the likeness of a key.
"Thank you, Brother. Pleasure doing business with you. The ornamentation is quite nice... though it leaves little doubt as to where it came from. I suppose that's the idea." Numalar smiles, and chucles a bit. "Would it by chance come with a small cloth sleeve or bag of some sort? Wouldn't want the flash of gold to make it a temptation for some pickpocket. In any case, thanks again."
Numalar returns to the others. "So who will carry this? Celyne or Poshment? Now... are we off to the sewers again?"
Will update the Loot Page momentarily.

Poshment Underhill |

Posh stares quite critically at Numalar after his talk of law and claiming the lands would probably have no bandit problem if the deity had a stronger influence.
"Law you say? That may sound noble, but what about compassion? Love for each other?" he puts to him "Without these, a city becomes no better than Nidal or Cheliax. If anything I'd be certain Abadar has a few temples in those cities too."
"If their influence were stronger the bandits may have become their hired thugs and then we would have been in trouble for taking them down, even if they were in the wrong. Compassion is needed, not full iron law to cage people in." he states simply, thinking back to those bandits who ended up being subjected to "Brevic Justice" and looks to Numalar full on. "With Gorum you know where you stand, but I have seen back-handed deals from conmen who claim Abadar as their God. Always ready to plant a knife in your back for a higher bidder."

Zokon Santyev |

"Abadar espouses fair deals and such, but he doesn't stand for helping the little guy, just helping commerce flow and civilisation to grow. The rich get richer in that system as it is easier to create wealth when you have it to begin with. I prefer standing for something other than self-glorification I want to look back and see that I created something more than civilisation at any cost"

Scarlet Scarab |

"Everything's got a limit, I say. Civilizations need organization, I'll give them that. But sometimes people follow the rules because they're rules. Not because it's the right thing to do." Scarlet shrugs.
"Speaking of which, it's time we returned to the sewers and did the right thing- clear up whatever's happening down there."

Faeria, the Illusionist |

Earlier, back at Erastil's Lodge:
Following that, she'll head on over to Faeria:"Hi, I see you're helping out here? How are you feeling?"
"Oh? Hello. You're those women (Alia and Scarlet) from earlier today aren't you? Did you want to buy something? It's for the poor." She holds up a used peasant's outfit that looks suspiciously like a slightly less tailored version of something Alia found in the sewer earlier. Faeria blinks--which is new.
1d20 ⇒ 14
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Faeria still seems not to remember you, but seems "more normal" though.

Scarlet Scarab |

Scarlet pays a gold coin for the dress.
"It's good to see you're doing better. Thanks for doing this, by the way." Scarlet indicates the sale. "Sometimes happiness is best found in helping others, you know? I would shake your hand, but it's pretty dirty."
"When you're ready, I'd love to have a chat with ya. I'm pretty sure we'll be in town for today, at least. I'll try to visit the lodge again then. Good luck, kid."

RPGGGM |

Any other side-jaunts? If I'll get us back tot he sewers later today. I assume you want to start where you left off in the sewer.

RPGGGM |

Scarlet pays a gold coin for the dress.
You have purchased a peasant's outfit.

Zokon Santyev |

Yes please lets keep this going see if we can't finish off our little segway? and get back to the stolen lands

RPGGGM |

Once more into the breach.
Re-entering the labyrinthine sewers you wander for a long while in the stink, wading through some drowned sections that come up to a gnome's nostrils and along some narrow tunnels that only they seem able to fit down easily until, two hours later....Tactical map update.
There seems to be a swarm ;) of knackered looking pigeons along the path ahead, standing before a door.

Scarlet Scarab |

"Pigeons. Rats with wings." Scarlet keeps her eyes peeled for danger as the party approaches the junction.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Celyne |

Again Celyne leaves Luna outside the sewers since she can't maneuver the ladders. She gives her instructions to guard the nearest alley to the sewer entrance. so she's not scaring folks in the streets.
Posh, you want the wand or should Celyne carry it? If you've got lingering song, it would be great for you, if not, maybe Celyne would be better... but i'll go along with whatever you prefer.
sorry for my failure to post for so long - i was on a retreat and the wifi sucked at the beach house where we were staying

So long as you remain undistracted you can take 10.
Everyone: Don't forget you are healed up.

RPGGGM |

Lingering song? hmm..think I might look into that. I generally stay out of mellee combat anyway.
Lingering performance isn't a bad fit, especially for someone who trades off for a wand or other effects. Did you want to hold onto the wand or deffer to Celyne?

Alia of the Blade |

Not my choice to make, but in my groups we usually try to spread healing power if possible. That is, Celyne can already heal by herself, Posh can't. So if Posh has the wand, we have 2 potential healers, rather than one more "charged" one.
@Temple
"Yes Faeria, we came by earlier. You still don't remember much, do you? But you do seem do be doing well here. I'm happy for you. We'll make sure to visit again before we need to move on. Take care!"
Btw, not turning Numalars monologue about Abadar into another discussion, but just want to state that I have no "problem" with Abadar. Definitely not. We just don't "click", as could be reasonably expected of Lawful Neutral vs Chaotic Good. Technically I'm "closer" to Lawful Good or Chaotic Evil...
@Sewers
"I'm not really the nature type, but do pigeons usually congregate below ground? In the sewers? After those rats earlier I would rather be careful than run into a nasty surprise."
Anybody with Knowledge Nature?
@GM: How is the smell here? I had only one acid flask which I used on the rats earlier. I _DO_ still have my alchemists fire which I opted not to use earlier...but wouldn't want to risk another explosion-

Celyne |

not a bad idea actually Alia.. Posh should carry the wand so we have 2 healers... If posh is down, as long as Celyne knows where to find the wand on him, we're all good.

RPGGGM |

It doesn't smell as bad here (maybe you are getting used to the smell?) but there definitely have been some pockets of really bad air that you have found over the last couple of hours that leave you feeling a bit wary of open flame. The group's light is still coming from Zokon's sunrod (which probably has another 3 hours to its life).

Zokon Santyev |

If its his go Zokon sheathes his sword and draws a flask of acid
"I'm thinking blast em first.. any objections?

Scarlet Scarab |

Celyne or Posh, would Knowledge(Nature) help explain how aggressive these birds are? Also, why are they in a sewer drain?
Keeping her sword ready, Scarlet sneaks along right behind Zokon, casually balancing herself on the stone.
Scarlet has +6 to Acrobatics and will make the DC 7 check automatically.

If both of you are down, Numalar has a UMD of 10 and can use the wand in a pinch.

Zokon Santyev |

Zokon will get Umd as well

RPGGGM |

So what's it to be?

Scarlet Scarab |

Throw the meat shield at them, duh
Scarlet grabs a flask of acid and walks right up to the birds.

Celyne |

"We don't even know if they'll be hostile yet.. they may just fly away at our approach, like normal birds."

Alia of the Blade |

Seeing Posh reach for his alchemists fire, Alia vibrantly remembers what happened when Celyne threw hers.
Weighing the options, she decides that filth is preferable to being burned alive. While she advances, she'll keep her eyes on that Alchemists Fire. If Posh throws it, and the explosion remotely starts like the last one, she would be ready to dive right into the fetid waters next to them, hopefully getting under the surface in time to evade a blast.
Advancing(taking 10 on movement), weapon in hand, staring at the alchemists fire(if allowed, readying above action already in case Posh throws it.

Zokon is waiting for the pigeons reaction to Scarlet.
