If we mean to have surprise as advantage, we'd best hurry!"

"Alia, can you use your power to make your sword silver? Wererats are tough to kill with normal weapons. I may have to get close and use fire. Try to leave me room to cast."

Matter of fact, for Arcane Pool, there is only a third party Arcana that allows this. With spells, there's a 3rd Level Magus Spell with "costly" Material Components allowing this. Both not an option at this time.

In the light of the setting sun, an ancient garbage scow bobs in the darkening waters of the Shrike River. The deck groans under the weight of piles of refuse, their reek overwhelming the dock smells of fish, tar and the nearby tannery. A wooden shack rises from the filth like a mushroom.

Conditions: Green areas are considered difficult. The lighting is dimming, but still light enough to not be dim. The trash, the scow's railing and the height out of the water give creatures on the deck partial cover from creatures on the dock.

Actually, figuring you were too busy absorbing sunlight and expensive, brightly colored food and drinks with their own umbrellas (not that they'd need them), I rolled for you and got a 24. Which in hindsight is so good I'll give you another bonus tidbit: they have tremorsense.

Okay weird. I somehow deleted this post....

The giant roaches hiss through their spiracles making a sound like a pair of plate mail suits of armor filled with snakes. The rust-colored one charges down the gangplank gnashing its mandibles at Scarlet.

Hit an AC 18 for 4 hp damage.

The black roach probes its arrow wound with its antennae.

Meanwhile a cloaked figure with a prominent, buck-toothed snout and messy straw-like hair rushes toward the bow and draws a clawed hand against the mooring line, severing it and freeing the bow of the ship.

Hit the rope for 4 hp damage.

The gangplank shifts as the garbage scow, now only tethered to the docks by the line at its stern, moves more in-line with the flow of the river.

Alia does indeed! Skewering the hissing bug like one might spear an exotic, crusty morsel from party platter with a toothpick. However while seemingly mortally wounded the bug continues to twitch and move.

Celyne sends Luna bounding onto the scow from the dock landing next to the suddenly frightened-looking rat woman.

"CAT! They didn't have a cat before!" She practically squeaks.

Luna bites but the rat-woman quickly regains her composure as her supernatural toughness blunts the attack completely.

And it is then that s similar figure dressed in a ragged, nobleman's dueling armor sweeps in behind the cat a rapier in its hand, a grin on its rat-like face!

rapier: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 miss!

Without a clear line of sight, Numalar drops the crossbow on the pier. He moves forward and produces his longspear. With a flick of the wrist, his hand becomes sheathed in flame. He points at the roach on the gangplank and a burst of fire shoots towards it...

Ranged Touch vs. red roach (-4 because engaged in melee with friend): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 21d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
but the shot goes wide and lands in the water with a hiss.

"Macrathane's Codpiece! We need to clear the way up there fast!"

Is anyone good at acrobatics? This would be a good time for someone to tumble past the cockroach. Though the ones on the boat don't scare me nearly as much as the one in the river. :)

@GGGM: I'm guessing I won't be able to use burning hands on the creatures on deck from my angle because of elevation? Also, will burning hands set the ship on fire?

Alas, cones don't translate well in a cubist world. You could angle the cone upwards at an angle, it would truncate the area of effect, loosing the middle step along it's 15-foot-long normal reach. The boat is wood and can burn above the waterline.

I had assumed you began the process of casting the full-round spell-like at the base of the ramp. So you would be big the moment before your turn this round. If you want to pass on bigness you can dismiss it as a standard (no AoO) action or simply not complete the process (free action usable before your turn). Let me know how you want to proceed.

Apache Scarlet grows to the size of a very large dwarf (or perhaps a small giant) but the sudden change means that her now 'longer' longsword overreaches its target and hits the gangplank (but not the bug's AC).

Zokon fires into the melee, but misses his target.

"It's too late to try and stop us now!" The male wererat cries.

How realistic is it to "jump" on the ship from the pier, like Luna did? Could an average human do it? The gap is only 5 feet and there is some height difference, so could be difficult, or could be reasonably doable with a running start, but do I think there's a chance to make it?

You could jump to catch the side of the ship and pull yourself over (acrobatics (long jump) followed by a climb DC 10). Or you can just vault the distance and land on the deck (acrobatics DC 20). And who cares if a human could do it you're an elf. Go Legolas the hell out of that thing.

"What are you? Some naive, big-eyed, Pollyanna third-class Shelyn scout cadet who thinks just so long as the world has butterflies and flowers in it that everything is fine? Fool!" Says the male rat.

"Vernon, let me-." Says Belia crinkling her snout, baring her fangs at Scarlet.

Belia rushes around the back of the cabin, weaving between mounds of trash to reach the second mooring line. Double move.

The black roach flutters down in front of Numalar - as it attempts to land, Numalar swipes at it with his longspear, and clips the roach with a weak thrust (I believe that's 1 point of nonlethal damage).

Produce Flame, Touch: 1d20 ⇒ 6

With the roach now directly in front of him, Numalar tries to poke it in the eyes with his flaming hand... and misses. Numalar is not used to targets that are shorter than him.

FYI Numalar will use windy escape if the roach bites him.

You would be correct about the damage vs Vernon. But he is a rat man and Luna probably only rakes when she's grappling a foe.

Actually it has a surprisingly resistant armored shell.

And minimum damage from an lethal weapon attack is always 1 lethal point of damage unless you were going for nonlethal damage originally (or there's some modifier other than the attacker's Strength penalty in play).

Celyne makes Belia recoil with grazing shot from her bow, but for a scrawny rat girl she's remarkably tough.

Meanwhile Luna bats at Vernon but he has the agility of a fencer and the few blows that do land the wererat rolls with, coming away unharmed.

Numalar swats and tries to fry the bug that alighted next to him but roaches seem hard to kill and hound-sized ones doubly so.

Conditions: Green areas are considered difficult. The lighting is dimming, but still light enough to not be dim. The trash, the scow's railing and the height out of the water give creatures on the deck partial cover from creatures on the dock.

Realizing it's now or never, Scarlet awkwardly tries to skip past the rusty roach. She fails miserably the first time (provoking an AoO), but she redoubles her efforts and tries again.
Acrobatics through occupied spaces halve your movement speed. Scarlet moved 15 feet but would need 10 more to cross the green spots, so she's stuck here.

"Violence, Belia. It's the only language we know, right? I saw a huge rat scurry past me and I didn't understand what it was, so I hit it. I guess you didn't like that very much, huh?"

In the end, my blades do the talking..

Scarlet has 10 ft reach and will swipe at Belia or Vernon if they enter her range without reach weapons.

The scow rocks to one side as Scarlet lands on the filthy deck bleeding, her boots kicking up a wave of muck and buzzing flies.

Belia looks up from the mooring rope. "You're so dead." She hisses bearing her teeth and fangs.

I usually start it at the begining of the round so it should be running. If not I'd start up now, coming up with something Jovial, yet inspirational.

Posh decides to attempt to get involved in the combat and help out Alia, drawing his heavy mace and stepping forward to attempt to smash the rusty roach, however his swing goes off-target.
