Terrance Foehammer |
In that case, lady Kendra, shall we be about looking for any traps?
Terrance then looks around the group Anyone else want to come look for any possible traps ?
Orin Gabor |
Orin sees the displeasure on Lady Lorrimor's face. He steps over to Terrance and, though a little shaky in his voice, he tries to steel himself. "I-I'll go. I've already dealt with it once, so I should go and check it out..."
Terrance Foehammer |
Nice roll
Terrance chuckles at Akes antics.
I didn't figure it was trapped, but I think looking things over still will not hurt.
Terrance walks into the room, and casts detect magic, and slowly turns a full circle concentrating on the room.

ROFLMFAO
Kendra is startled by Ake's cries for help but when it turns out that the little goblin is only crying wolf, a small smile spreads across her face.
When Ake exits the room, Kendra places a hand on Ake's shoulder, "You gave me quite the fright, Miss Ake. My heart nearly leapt right out of my chest!" Then after a thoughtful moment she says, "You know, I do believe that I have some dresses from when I was a girl that would fit you nicely."
No magic to be detected.
Ingrid Van der Geist |
"To be honest, Ioan's skepticism not withstanding, there isn;t likely to be a physical trap or the work of anything living. The letter in the square, and to some extent, the incident in Orin's room seems to be the work of The Splatter Man, apparently acting from beyond the grave. It fits his tactics as a killer when he was amongst the living." Ingrid says gravely.
She continues to detail everything they found on the most notorious killers in Ravengro at the time of the fire.

Father Charlatan (Sefick Corvin): Of the five notorious prisoners, only Father Charlatan as not technically a murderer, yet his crimes were so blasphemous that several churches demanded he be punished to the full extent of Ustalavic law. Although he claimed to be an ordained priest of any number of faiths, Father Corvin was in fact a traveling con artist who used faith as a mask and a means to bilk the faithful out of money in payment for false miracles or cures. He became known as Father Charlatan after his scheme was exposed and his Sczarni accomplices murdered a half-dozen city guards in an attempt to make good the group’s escape.
The Lopper (Vance Saetressle): When the Lopper stalked prey, he would hide in the most unlikely of places, sometimes for days upon end with only a few supplies to keep him going while he waited for the exact right moment to strike. Once his target was alone, the Lopper would emerge to savagely behead his victim with a handaxe.
The Mosswater Marauder (Ispin Onyxcudgel): Only 5 years before his hometown of Mosswater was destined to be overrun and ruined by monsters from the nearby river, Ispin Onyxcudgel was a well-liked artisan and a doting husband. When he discovered his wife’s infidelity, he flew into a jealous rage and struck her dead with his hammer, shattering her skull and his sanity with one murderous blow. Wracked with shame and guilt, Ispin became convinced that if he could rebuild his wife’s skull she would come back to life—but unfortunately, he could not find the last blade-shaped fragment from the murder site. So instead, Ispin became the Mosswater Marauder. Over the course of several weeks, the cunning dwarf stalked and murdered nearly 20 people while searching for just the right skull fragment. He was captured just before murdering the daughter of a visiting nobleman from Varno, and was carted off to Harrowstone that same night.
The Piper of Illmarsh (real name unknown): Before he snatched his victims, the Piper taunted his targets with a mournful dirge on his f lute. He preferred to paralyze lone victims by dosing their meals with lich dust and then allowed his pet stirges to drink the victims dry of blood.
The Splatter Man (Hean Feramin): Professor Feramin was a celebrated scholar of Anthroponomastics (the study of personal names and their origins) at the Quartrefaux Archives in Caliphas. Yet an accidental association with a succubus twisted and warped his study, turning it into an obsession. Feramin became obsessed with the power of a name and how he could use it to terrify and control. Soon enough, his reputation was ruined, he’d lost his tenure, and he’d developed an uncontrollable obsession with an imaginary link between a person’s name and what happens to that name when the person dies. Every few days, he would secretly arrange for his victim to find a letter from her name written in blood, perhaps smeared on a wall or spelled out with carefully arranged entrails. Once he had spelled his victim’s name, he would at last come for her, killing her in a gory mess using a complex trap or series of rigged events meant to look like an accident.
Terrance Foehammer |
So if writing names in blood is the splatter mans way of doing things, then what in Torag's name was that V on the monument, and who does it stand for.
Ravel Sigrún |
Ravel gently plucks the scorpion from her locks as she surveys the others. "Orin, love, promise me that if I fall before all of these mysteries are uncovered I don't get stuck with a moniker like 'Splatter Man' or 'The Lopper.' However 'Dream-Ripper' I would be perfectly content with." Ravel chuckles and winks at Ake.
Gellius Dandrae |
"Wonderful, killers acting again. Because you know, the first time they were alive wasn't enough." Gellius laughs nervously.
Upon a small bit of consideration, he adds "Given that the place burnt down, I don't know how likely this is, but if there's any notes about how insane these people were and the details how of how it worked alchemically, that's something I would be interested in. For academic reasons..."
Terrance Foehammer |
Well, we now know who and what was in Harrowstone. Now I think tomorrow during the day, we should go look into Harrowstone, and see if this is what is causing things to re appear.
Terrance looks a bit nervous about that course of action still.
Terrance Foehammer |
I wonder who that is Terrance heads down to the door to open it.
hmm, the Haunting comes to mind. :)
Terrance Foehammer |
BY TORAG Terrance yells, as he takes a couple of rapid steps back.
He looks around for something that he can use for a weapon.
and then channels the light of Torag through him.

Shakily Ravel unties her sickle from her belt and holds it out, trying to ward off the corpse and hoping she doesn't have to use it.
What vile sorcery has befallen this place?
DM Twilight |
Lorrimor keeps staggering forward, unfazed by the weak attacks.
Kendra, hearing the commotion, appears at the top of the stairs in her dressing robe. "What is - Oh dear gods! Father? No, oh no. Dear gods no."
Petro's seems stirred by his daughter's voice and makes towards the staircase.
Ingrid Van der Geist |
With a cry of absolute outrage, Ingid draws her greatsword while rushing to the door, shimmering supernatural light enveloping her body, sigils flaring to life on her blade as she brings Pharasma's final rest to the monstrosity before her.

DM Twilight |
Ingrid's eyes glow with a silver light as she buries her blade deep into the reanimated corpse of her long time friend. Lorrimor's body convulses and before going slack, sliding off of her blade and to the floor. He moves no more.
Kendra screams and sobs, running down the stairs and towards her father's still corpse.
Ingrid Van der Geist |
Tears streaming down her face, Ingid kneels over the corpse. "ליידי של גרייבס , בבקשה לקבל את נשמתו הטהורה שלהאדםשלבש פעם אחת גוף זה לזרועות שלך , מרשיע את הרוח השפלהשביקשה להטות מעברו"
Gellius Dandrae |
Gellius appears down the stairs slightly after most of the others, his hair about a foot longer than you saw it before.
Takes me longer since I had to drink my mutagen and draw my sword.
"FEAR ME INTRUDEoh. Well then. Good job everyone."
After getting a closer look at the corpse, he remarks "So, we're going to put that back right now, right? No keeping recently re-dead stuff around, especially the Professor."
Terrance Foehammer |
Give me a couple of minutes to rearmour and get my weapons, then we can go ensure the professor gets the rest that he deserves.
Then lets figure out who or what disturbed his rest and express our displeasure.
Disturb the professors rest, root in the dirt to get him up, by Torag, whoever is responsible will pay
Terrance looks both frusterated and angry.
Ioann Vilescu |
After a few, too long, moments of frozen surprise Ioann, stands up and joins the others. Disgust deforms his features as he looks at the body of the professor. Then, he approaches the body and kneels next to it. Gritting his teeth, his disgust transforms into a hideous grimace of anger and profound hatred. With an intense cry, Ioann jumps up and runs outside the house.
"Show yourself! Necromancer! Come and die!!!!!!" he says unpacking the bunble he had been carrying with him since he had met the others.
This reveals a huge sword, larger that Ingrids two handed sword, which he wields without too much difficulty, clearly ready to slay anyone who would have dared reanimate his old mentor.
perception to spot anyone: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
I think the group should get the father to take care of the body, Taking it would look too suspicious... any character wise enough to suggest it? BTW the sword is a Large bastard sword...
Ingrid Van der Geist |
Ingrid stands, and wipes the tears from her eyes with a solemn, expression. Turning to Ravel she nods.
"I will go back to the Temple and ask Father Grimburrow to come. Take care of Kendra...and see if you can find something to....cover the...body." she says, having difficulty stopping herself from crying.
Terrance Foehammer |
Ingrid, if you wait but a moment, I will come along.
I hope that we find who disturbed the professor
Everyone can hear the anger in his voice.
Ioann Vilescu |
Ioann is still outside, wailing every so often and taking steps in random directions before returning in front of the house, as if unable to decide in which direction to pursue the potentially imaginary necromancer.
However, as Ingrid and Terrance step outside, he calms down a bit and falls in line with them, still holding his weapon.
Ingrid Van der Geist |
Nodding quietly Ingrid leads the way back to the temple.
Gellius Dandrae |
Gellius stays back in case anyone tries to attack the house while gone, although he is absentmindly playing with his new hair and whispering to himself "Huh. That's a weird reaction. That shouldn't have happened..."
Orin Gabor |
Overcome by the sight of his friend brought back in the most defiled way he could imagine, Orin slips to the floor. Shaking from equal parts rage and fear, he jumps to his feat and races after Ingrid. "Watch after Lady Lorrimor! Ingrid, I'm coming too!"
Once outside, he follows Ingrid a short ways, at least until he is reasonably certain that no one else can see. And then he loses the contents of his stomach.
"Please keep this a secret... Taking a deep breath, he stands back up. "Let's get Father Grimburrow. The sooner we get Lorrimor buried, the less likely the villagers can accuse anyone of anything..."
Terrance Foehammer |
I agree, as much as it pains me to do this in secret, the father has to know.
