Ingrid Van der Geist |
"Why on earth would you ask something like that Terrance?" Ingrid asks.
Orin Gabor |
Bleh... Work got crazy, lost my car, and, well, life in general. Plus side, off this weekend!
Orin looks at his friend, and sees he truly means it. He looks closely but fails to notice anything other than a worn tombstone. "Terrance, I don't see anything..."
Looking to the others, he looks a tad worried. "First my little... Experience and now Ioann is seeing things on tombstones..."
DM Twilight |
Terrance, when you look back at the tombstone after hearing Orin's words, you see nothing but a worn tombstone. Too worn to even read a name.
Also, we'll assume Orin's words "Ioann seeing things" was a slip, as it was Terrance who saw something, he saw Ioann's name.
Terrance Foehammer |
Honest, I saw Orin's name, and it also said something like this “Come to my world, and be as I am. Soon you will be like me;
Witness me, and embrace your end." and it also said “Died 4661 AR”.
Looking a little puzzled now, It was just here, I swear by Torag's name.
Ioann Vilescu |
Ioann does not react much when asked whether he is alive or not, clearly not finding the "joke" really amusing. However, upon hearing what Terrance thought he saw on the tombstone, Ioann lifts his head showing a face filled with horror and fear.Quickly, he strides toward the dwarf, grasps his clothes and tries to drag him toward the grave.
"Which tombstone, show me! What did it say? Where? WHERE?"
Ioann will take 20 on perception to read the inscription.
Terrance Foehammer |
Shaking his head at the attempted manhandling by Ioann.
Ioann, by Torag's name, I do not lie. What I said, and what I saw, were right there. Pointing at the tombstone.
Terrance Foehammer |
I have looked, and it is gone. But by Torag's blessed name, it was there. protests Terrance as he follows along behind the group.
What in Torags name is going on, I could swear that Ioann's name was on that tombstone, and now it is gone.
I wonder if it has something to do with the writing on the monument, speaking of which
Hey, do you all mind if we pass by the monument on the way back to the professors place?
DM Twilight |
Father Grimburrow walks with you out of The Restlands before stopping and laying his hand gently on Ingrid's shoulder. "I hope you find what you're looking for, even for those of us who give our lives to Pharasma, the death of someone we love is never an easy thing to accept. If there is anything else I can do for you, Sister, don't hesitate to ask." He then heads back towards the temple.
Ingrid Van der Geist |
Ingrid gives Father Grimburrow a brief embrace before he departs. "Thank you for your help, it has already proven invaluable."
Deep in concentration, the Paladin is silent as they head back to the manor.
Ingrid Van der Geist |
Memorial I suppose as long as it's quick
Terrance Foehammer |
Hmm, Nothing else that appeared, I think we can go now.
Was just checking to see if the V came back
On the way back to the manor
Harrowstone was a prison, I wonder about the prisoners who are not mentioned on that memorial
So if Harrowstone was a prison, was anyone able to find out the names of any prisoners that were in there ? Asking the group in general.
Ingrid Van der Geist |
"I'm sure the town library or archives may have record of that." Ingrid says thoughtfully
DM Twilight |
Arriving back at the Lorrimor estate, you find Kendra sitting at the dining table with a box in front of her. Spread out around the box are various items; old books, a small acrylic painting of mountains, a wood carving of a deer, and various other bobbles. The items have apparently been sitting for quite some time as they are covered in dust. Kendra swiftly wipes a tear from her eye before standing to greet you. "How did it go, did you find the false crypt?"
Ioann Vilescu |
Upon entering, Ioann takes off his wet jacket and hangs it close to the door. He then strides upstairs to his room, apparently ignoring Kendra's question. After only a few seconds in which a door is open, a chest his dragged from underneath a bed and a door is close, Ioann is back downstairs.
This time, as he passes by miss Lorrimor, he stops and looks at her. For a moment, his facial expression becomes kinder. He approaches the woman and sits next to her.
"Yes.. yes we found the crypt. And this was inside." he says taking out the box and placing it next to the Manual of the Palatine Eye."Are these your father's?" he asks pointing to the dust covered items, his voice much gentler than usual.
As he awaits the response, Ioann tries opening the box they retrieved from the crypt.
DM Twilight |
Ioann's presence seems to perk her up a bit and she smiles at him warmly. "Yes, as a matter of fact they are. Just one of many boxes from the attic. I've left something for you in your room. I found it in his things and it looked like it would fit your frame well. I think he would want it to go to you."
You were too focused on getting back downstairs with the book that you didn't notice the masterwork chain shirt laying across your bed.
Kendra watches as Ioann opens the box with ease. Inside is a thin, flat board with the alphabet spread across it Ouija board, a small, spade shaped brass planchette, and four iron and glass vials containing tiny, churning clouds of vapor. The vials sit in velvet-lined indentations to the left of the spirit board and planchette, along with six empty indentions.
Ravel Sigrún |
Ravel watches intently, she whispers a familiar arcane word and sees what the trinkets might reveal.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
If anything radiates, she will focus on the vials first, trying to identify their nature.
Ake of the Stolen Soul |
Ake stands dripping for a time, not noticing the water on her small frame. She tries to think of some words, any words to comfort her friends daughter.
Finding none, she feels sad that she lacks the ability to comfort Kendra, thinking of the haflings she spent time with.
She walks over and wordlessly pats her on the back.
Not knowing what else to do, she investigates the items in the chest.
Detect magic, taking 20 on Spellcraft to identify the items, Ake has plenty of time to not make a mistake.

Ingrid cocks her head to the side, studying the contents of the box intently.
Spell craft: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 Forget take 20, I'll grab 20 by the balls!
Terrance Foehammer |
do you need a hand looking at any of those ? Terrance asks.
Gellius Dandrae |
Gellius watches intently while the casters are identifying the items, wondering what tools the Professor left us.
Note that while technically you can take 20 on identifying items, you may not want to. You have to wait a day in-between checks to identify the same item, so a take 20 takes 20 days.
DM Twilight |
Using all of your various methods to identify the contents of the sarcophagus you come up with the following list:
12 silver arrows
4 sun rods
6 flasks of holy water
10 +1 arrows
5 +1 ghost touch arrows
2 +1 undead bane arrows
5 potions of cure light wounds
2 potions of lesser restoration
1 scroll of detect undead
2 scrolls of hide from undead
1 scroll of protection from evil
1 thin darkwood case decorated with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from its back—the same design that appears on the cover of the Manual of the Order of the Palatine Eye
1 spirit board with a brass spirit planchette
4 haunt siphons

Identify item time frame just an FYI
Yes, Master dwarf, I would like any assistance you care to provide!
After identifing the items,
These are quite good, but I am afraid I can not use any of the scrolls, however, Master Terrance may be capable of there use.
Ioann Vilescu |
oops.. I wanted Ioann to open the thin darkwood case, not the spirit board...
"Mulțumesc Kendra, voi merge și să ia o privire la ea odată am terminat cu astea."
"Thank you Kendra, I will go and take a look at it once we are done with these."
Realizing that he opened the wrong case, Ioann pushes the board toward Ravel before trying to open the thin darkwood case.
Terrance Foehammer |
The scrolls, I should be able to use. Along with one of these Indicating a flask of holy water.
Ake, on that site under retry, it shows you still get the same info 1/day, if you failed earlier.
Take 20 on the same site says "Since taking 20 assumes that your character will fail many times before succeeding,
your character would automatically incur any penalties for failure before he or she could complete the task (hence why it is generally not allowed with skills that carry such penalties)"

Woo haunt siphons!
Gellius listens as the casters explain what everything is. "Well, I don't have much use for the arrows, although we should make sure that someone has a bow because they are really nice arrows. These on the other hand..." Gellius turns his eyes at the holy water on the table. "These I probably use better than anyone else here. Also I wouldn't mind a sunrod or two, and I should probably hold on to one of each of the potions. Those scrolls should probably go to other people."
I get a bonus to hit when using splash weapons, and also a bonus to damage when I'm not using my mutagen.

** spoiler omitted **
Realizing that he opened the wrong case, Ioann pushes the board toward Ravel before trying to open the thin darkwood case.
It was in the thin darkwood case, and beneath that the haunt siphons.
DM Twilight |
Kendra smiles and nods her head, touching Ioann on the shoulder lightly for a brief moment.

Ingrid takes in the array of weaponry and equipment, her mind cataloguing the types of creatures each would be best at dispatching, nodding silently to herself.
Good work Petros, you're helping us make them pay for what they did to you.
Terrance Foehammer |
I am Terrance says However, we should proceed with caution. After all, the professor rushed into Harrowstone as well.
Orin Gabor |
Nodding at Ravel, he looks at the equipment. "Well, he left plenty of goods to combat things." He lifts one of the arrows and raises an eyebrow. "And the spirit board, why this? Could someone check it out? Maybe the Professor left a message with it. At the very least, there must be a reason it was with the rest of the goods."
Terrance Foehammer |
Terrance looks over at Ravel and Orin Grump, I'll grump you, I may not want money, but I'll show you a grump.
