Alright. Aramis, I think you and I have to book it now and I don't know that we can spare an action to draw or drink a potion.

If the far side of the barricades is trapped ground, I think you need to lead the way. Dregg'll drop if someone breaths on him hard enough and if it's some kind of immobilizing trap, he can carry you a lot more easily than you him. Fatigue means I can't do a Run action until another 3 rounds are done, but you can and I can still pump my movement speed up to 50 so I won't be lagging too far behind.

If we had more time, I'd try to get off a summon nature's ally i and send an animal on ahead of us, but Scarvinious looks to me like he's either going to start shooting or jump down on our heads.

Gotta admit, this is tense!

Yikes. Stay safe!

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

So I'll check again -- do we want to add another player to the game? I'm fine either way.

Four players is a lot deadlier, I think. My GM'ing philosophy is to not go out of my way to kill folks, though if the dice go that way, or bad tactics make things tough on you, I'm not going to shy away from it either (obviously).

Five players IMO makes things a lot safer, though still not ruling out a potential death.

I have no problem with that.

I also have no power. :D But no danger yet. The track moved significantly east. We’ll still get the eye, but the wind should only gust to 100kph (62 mph).

I've no strong feelings either way, but I'm happy to add a fifth if someone we know wants in.

So I’ve been trying to figure out how Arryn might theoretically free himself from this situation.

Line of sight is required for his abilities to work, so he’ll definitely need to ditch the blindfold.

Only his telekinetic blast description talks about needing a hand free to aim. I was trying to figure out which of his abilities might work on a knitted rope. Basic telekinesis can act as the open/close cantrip, but that cantrip’s description doesn’t say anything about knots, just doors, windows, bags, pouches, etc. His telekinetic finesse ability says: You can perform any sort of fine manipulation you choose within close range, including attempting Sleight of Hand and Disable Device checks. That suggests to me that you can manipulate things like with your hands, such as maybe untying knots. He could certainly use Disable Device (albeit with a penalty if he’s been relieved of his on a lock if he’d been manacled, so it seems strange that a less complex method of bondage would stump his abilities.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I think we could treat it as a lock. I'd assume you could untie it with a Disable Device check.

Not sure where the words went.

And I just realized I’d forgotten the stat adjustments for dwarves. Ignore me, nothing to see here.

But I know I’m right on the fifth-leveledness, so I live in hope and breathless anticipation for the “Ding”.

Technically, according to the rules, you don’t have to win an encounter to get company, just survive it. In the old days, before pre-determined levels at specific story points, you could earn the same xp two or three times by trying and running away from difficult encounters.

Not that we were trying to game the system here, of course. We just over-estimated our luck and abilities.

Since I’ve become so obsessed with this game lately (I must check for updates about 20 times a day), I went through and read it through from Day 1. Lots of really good stuff.

I also discovered that Arryn had a pair of thunder stones and a pair of tanglefoot bags that I’d forgotten to put on his sheet, and can confirm that Dregg had dropped his bow at the top of the stairs after all.

Aramis, out of curiosity, are you intending to go sorcerer/oracle/mystic theurge? I’ve always wondered what it would be like but have never been brave enough to suffer through the lower levels to make it work.

When I started dabbling into oracle I definitely considered it. And she's going to have to invest in more healing later anyway....

So... I'm seriously considering it. Haha. We'll see, but I expect so.

It can definitely work if you focus on buffing and stuff that doesn’t require saving throws, or at least have secondary effects if they pass (like entangle creating difficult terrain).

I wonder...would it benefit us all to spend a rank of background skills learning a common language that the hobgoblins are highly unlikely to know, kind of like our own Navajo code?

Elven would probably be safe, or if anybody happens to know celestial that’s almost a guarantee that they won’t know it. In a world with comprehend languages it’s not as secure as IRL, but would help us communicate in battle without tipping anybody off what we were planning.

If nobody else is interested, Arryn would like to claim the +1 chain shirt.

Edit the 2nd: the +1 spiked studded leather is probably better on Isabella than Arryn.

The only other languages he knows are Goblin and Varisian.
