So, question: There's obviously a chance this fight ends in a TPK (though you could still also pull it out). I'm curious if you all want to continue with the AP? One of the nice things about this one is it's relatively easy to bring in new characters, as opposed to, say, Strange Aeons or some other games, but I figured I'd take the proverbial room's temperature.

Tactically, I think we handled this fight about as well as we could have. If I'd stayed up top, we could have chopped through the wolves and goblin maybe a round or 2 quicker, but we'd have probably all withered under alchemist bombs and arrow fire.

It does feel like we're in an awfully bad way now though and it seems like the legendary tpk is more likely than not.

I'd be happy to continue on with the AP, though I haven't any idea what sort of character I'd like to play should Dregg kick the proverbial bucket. I do know though that, despite how nice lead blades is on a two-handed weapon swinging barbarian, I won't be multiclassing.

I would like to continue the AP, but we might want to retreat right now and come back another time.


So I’m feeling very much that I would prefer to bring a beloved retired character back rather than create a new one scratch. At the moment, I would prefer to use Ryarg (dwarven bear shaman druid with no personality and a talent for wine-making and a bear animal companion with a snarky personality and perhaps a drinking problem) who was created for a one-off high-level game. They’re a self-contained comedy duo, with Ryarg as the straight man.

I also have Tippy Fullbottle, a Halfling unchained rogue knife master with a dirty mind and way too many daggers, and Gilfroy Fezziwig, a gnome sorcerer illusion specialist dipped into heavens oracle (cheesy but fun especially in a humanoid-heavy setting like this).

Alas, that won’t put Arryn back in the fight, but it does put him within range of his force ward bringing him around, when it regenerates in three minutes. If only they’ll just ignore him until then.

In the meantime, he can wrestle with his inner demons in his altered state. Gotta do a little exploration of where these powers are coming from.

Thoughts? Arryn is considering the offer as there’s a chance they could survive long enough to escape, and he can’t think of a realistic way to save Isabella.

Well, I think you and Isabella are hosed, and even if Aramis gets me conscious again, 1 bomb will just lay me right back out.

Unless the alchemist is standing next to me the round I become conscious, I won’t have the chance. Spending a whole move action to stand will ensure the alchemist gets a round to throw.

Technically, you could have your move action to be closing with her and then grapple from the ground. You'd have minuses, but it wouldn't provoke. If Aramis trips her, you actually wouldn't have minuses.

(Which could be a cool movie moment if you choke her out, though I feel bad for offering the suggestion.)

Or, stand as move action, 5-foot step to reach, begin grapple as standard. It would prevent her from throwing bombs. Of course, it all depends on Aramis healing at least 3 hp in her last channel (a 66% chance, but luck has not been on our side this battle—recent touch attack misses notwithstanding).

Uhg! If Arryn does end up surrendering and calls out for everybody to stand down, Dregg is never going to forgive him. I just don’t see how we can win this. I keep hoping to maneuver Scarface next to the ravine edge and land a pushing blast critical or something, but I have a sinking feeling even landing 55-60 points of damage on this guy isn’t going to be enough.

Whereas if we surrender and are taken prisoner, we will outnumber our captors (not counting puppy) for at least a day until they can get reinforcements.

I don’t see any other way of saving Arryn, let alone Isabella. This brute is just too strong. If by some miracle the two below can incapacitate the alchemist and escape into the woods, we might all survive this. Arryn can only hope that Aramis has revived Dregg, so his job is to keep attention up here without pissing off Scarface too much.

Man this would be a great time for a fifth player to join our gaming group...

I’m not sure how familiar you are with grappling. If you e used it a bunch, feel free to tell me to shut up.

Since you’ve started a grapple, you want to make another check this round (with a +5 bonus) to pin. If she doesn’t escape, the next round you want to get her to tied up (Aramis might want to spend this round preparing something to use). In the round that Dregg gets her tied up, Aramis can use a full round action to perform a coup de grace (at which point you two should really run into the forest and come back for Arryn and Isabella).

Not sure what else to do for us, Isabella. At this point, I’m buying time for the others to kill the alchemist and get away.

As for being a slave, Arryn is breakable if Scarface finds his weakness (and his drawback will definitely come into play), though his recent discovery that he can actually be brave and self-sacrificing will give him strength for quite awhile.
