Ugh, Arryn. My gosh I feel for you, man. Your last 5 rolls have been...
1, 4, 1, 1, 5. Man I think I've spread my "dicebot disease" upon you, man. Sorry about that.
You keep this up, you're going to be pushing near some Edward rolls there. (Don't do that. Please don't do that. You HAVE to stay away from that). ;)
Aside: In another thread I'm in, over the span of 19 rolls(attacks and skill checks), I rolled double digits 5 times. I kid you not. Just over 25%. Now THAT is pathetic. Too make it worse, 8 of those that consisted of the attack version only hit once. ONCE. And it just so happen to be the 8th roll! The first 7 missed! TERR-I-BULL!

obscuring mist and the like block sight beyond 5 ft. So, if you're adjacent, you can see what's next to you, but that's it.

OOOOH MAMA! Violet with the fantastic level of beatdown! Man that was awesome. You know, I've NEVER seen blind-fight in action. Absolutely never. That is freaking cool when it comes in handy like that. Therein lies the beauty of brawlers. They can add feats when they need them. Really really cool. One of these days, I'm gonna run a brawler.
And she rolls a 20 on the crit CONFIRM! Such greatness.

I really like the brawler. It's a lot of fun if you just want to do some beatdown or debuff someone to heck. I'm playing one in an Ironfang Invasion and making copious use of Improved Trip.
Oh man that sounds like fun! Improved trip can make a HUGE difference in battle.
Also, I've NEVER actually seen that used in combat either. Probably one of the most useful combat maneuvers out there and I've never seen it used. I've seen wolf's trip - or course - but I've never seen a player use it. I'm guessing it has a LOT to do with having to take Combat expertise. Not to many fighters are gonna roll out with a 13 Int.
And again, therein lies the beauty of brawlers. One of these days...

Favourite mundane battlefield controller I ever played was a maneuver master monk with Improved Trip and Ki Throw. The GM would set up the battlefield, then I’d walk in and rearrange it to my liking. Almost everybody in the party picked up Combat Reflexes, especially useful when she got to Greater Trip (they provoked when they fell, then again when they stood).
Best moment was when she leapt thirty feet into the air, grabbed a huge-black dragon that was perched on a ledge, and Ki Threw it to the ground prone in between the paladin with smite evil and inquisitor with dragon bane, in perfect flanking position.
Arryn Dawood |
Oh my gosh what level was that?! THREW a black dragon to the ground?! That is insane sounding. But man does it sound AWESOME!
That would've been fun to see.
10 or 11 at that point I think.

Damn, that's pretty awesome. I had a monk ride a dragon once to beat it into submission, but never throw one!
Improved Trip also typically becomes less useful at higher levels (since more things fly), which I imagine leads to people not taking it -- but II largely tends to be more land-based, which makes that a more viable option.
Javell DeLeon |
That's pretty cool too though. I can say I've never heard of anyone BEATING a dragon into submission any more than I've heard of them throwing one.
And that does make sense about Improved Trip. But heck, by the time fly becomes such a 'normal' option, you'd have gotten a lot of use out of it by then.

That’s what they say — my wife had a very bad reaction, but she always reacts to even flu vaccines. So far I’m pretty much the same as after the first shot; a little arm soreness and minor headache. I took tomorrow off though just in case...
That said, I think plenty of people have no reaction to either dose.

Got my second shot on Monday, too! So far, so good.
Regarding trip: My L17 PFS bard used a whip with greater trip to great effect. She couldn't do any damage herself, but would rearrange the battlefield with Dim Door and Bard's Escape and draw AoOs from the beatsticks. Was much fun.
Violet will probably use Greater Trip situationally with Vexras when we're not in rooms filled with fog.

Okay, I'm gonna wait to see what happened to this hobbo after Violet just DESTROYED her. You talk about a MASSIVE beatdown. There's no way she could possibly be still standing. If she is, then this hobgobbie has GOT to be the dragon in disguise. And if she is the dragon, this dragon may just better start thinking about running after that whupping. ;)

@Vexras: Are you sure you don't want the ring? You're far more of a melee guy than Dorrin. Not that Dorrin isn't melee but he's just more apt to ranged combat than melee. Melee is obviously his backup plan.
I was definitely thinking it would fit you perfect, Vexras.
But if not, if you want to snag it, Arryn(just now realized it was you that didn't have one), then go ahead. It's no biggie to me.

Anti-dragon gear? Are you serious? You mean, NOBODY told Dorrin about the anti-dragon gear? Killing me, people!!! KILL-ING ME! (Or the dragon will be pretty soon seeing how that I've no anti-dragon gear!) ;)
I thought Brostic took them.
We've got a really gear-specific group (like, I can only use 1 sword and no armor, we've only got 1 bow-shooter, etc etc), so unfortunately there isn't much to go around.

HA! That's right. I was. Yeah I was thinking there might have been something else more than just the arrows. Like, a Protecto potion from Dragon Breathing. Or possibly a Dorn-dergar of double damage deadly dealing destruction to Dragonkind or something to that nature. ;)

Hey all,
I'm going on vacation Monday-Thursday, so I don't expect to be posting at all. Beyond that, my wife is home for the next two weeks (through May 22-23), so I may be posting sporadically in that time. And then the next weekend is PaizoCon, so I don't know if I'll be prepping for that the final week of May. So in total, I may be posting infrequently until June 1 or 2.
I know we're in the midst of combat, so I'll try to post when I can, since no one likes waiting in such a situation. That said, that also takes more time to post, so I can't guarantee I'll find that time.
Anyway, short story long, I'll be posting haphazardly for a few weeks, but then will return to our normal hopefully more regular posting schedule.

By the time mott’s back into the swing of things, I’ll be off on my annual CabinCon trip. Earliest I’ll be able to jump back into things is next Tuesday.

Hey all,
I just want to apologize for my slow posting. I'm struggling right now with this game. I've largely switched to 2nd edition other than my PBPs, and I think our frequent changes in this game have left me a little invested in it than in my other long-running campaign (which isn't any of your fault, of course!). I strongly believe PBP is all about momentum, and I'm aware I'm not holding my end up in that regard. Just wanted to make sure you all know I am aware of it, and am trying to do better!

Also: @Mott: No worries to you either, bud. 2nd edition is pretty cool. It's definitely different. And it's kind of a bear to learn also. But I'm liking it.
And I get having to find replacements does get frustrating. There's another game I've been in for a while(as a replacement) and we have BURNED through player after player. Three of the original people quit during that time and we've replaced them. And then they quit. Replaced. Quit. Replaced. Quit. Replaced. I kid you not. One quit after about 3 or 4 months and another less than a month. I swear it's a revolving door.
What absolutely blows my mind about this game though is not a SINGLE person you chose initially is still here. Not 1. Crazy. I just don't get it.
Vexras Voltagian |
Arryn's basically been in the game from the get-go, early enough to have the 4th post in the gameplay thread. He's the last of the OGs!
I brought Dregg in fairly early on as a replacement, but he died. I think this game has seen more player turn over than any of the others I've played in though.
