What they said.

You mean make a whole new campaign, or can you make two gameplay threads in the same campaign?

And if two campaigns, I suppose that begs the question: does anyone want nothing to do with two campaigns and wouldn't want to have to keep up with both?

Your answer to that question will not affect whether I accept you.

I'm OK either way. You will probably want people to dot in both gameplays so they are kept updated about posts otherwise it would be really hard to know there is stuff to read.

As for the campaign tabs, you cannot have more than a single tab of a type, so one gameplay, one discussion, one characters, etc.

Hence my suggestion of go to the gameplay forum and start the second thread in there. You won't have to link a recruitment if you don't want to.

I'm fine either way, though I'd focus more on my own thread. And be sure to have the threads with unique names so, if we do dot in both, we can keep them separated.

Great. Now I have to come up with another campaign name.

Still here, still around - just "lurking" to see what we will decide, and where my hero might end up :)

Should I buy the disadvantage for being... Nonhuman?

You can actually just name it "Monsters and Men Table 1" and "Table 2" so that you don't have to worry about making another name. That said, I'm down with whatever you decide to do. Count me in.

EDIT: Derp, posted this on the wrong alias.

I'd probably have a hard time following another thread. If I'm not directly involved, I can't care as much. Any time they crossed over I'd probably just binge read up to that point.

That's reasonable.

Ok, both campaigns now exist and have gameplay and discussion. Working on macros for actions up on the Campaign Info tab. I was trying to build in the html, based on another campaign I was in, but it formatted them into the post and absorbed the html. I'll figure that out.

I could dot both, but I'd likely follow in the foot steps of Rynjin there and binge read the thread I was not directly involved in as the need (or boredom) comes up.

Also, if you ultimately do decide to run two tables with all applicants, I'd like to request being on a table with Cooper Harris. Mostly because he has a glorious beard that smells of maple syrup and lumberjacks.

And now, what you have all been waiting for. I think I got everyone who submitted a character. My goal is to spend two days finalizing builds and working up connections. We will start in the middle of an action scene, so you don't need to worry about where you are or what you are doing. For those familiar with timelines, we will start after Skin Game and during the events in Monster Hunter: Nemesis. Doesn't matter if you don't know what that means, just marking time for those who do in case it affects their backstories.

As I said, we will begin in the Boston area, though the campaign will be able to roam around as needed and desired.

Thanks everyone, recruitment has been a lot of fun. I hope we can keep that going.

Lucky you, that's the way I went without even seeing your post.

Deko, if I was playing a guy with a shotgun, I would make that shotgun a device. That would allow you to give it some alternate powers that would let you do lots of cool cinematic tricks, like shoot through walls, lots of knockback. It would also let you take better advantage of hero points to use extra effort power stunts. Shoot something in the environment ot entangle someone. All kinds of things.

You could even conceivably take it as a power without a device so that you could always do that damage, even if someone takes your "gun." So you grab another shotgun, or have one stashed nearby, or all kinds of things.

I am, among other things, a teacher and student of literature who is fascinated with archetypes and tropes. As such, it would be useful to me if you would talk to me about your characters in the form of tropes or archetypes. If you don't know what that means, no worries, but head over to tvtropes.org if you want to know (and have your life disappear into a bottomless hole). Or if you just want to talk about what you would like for your character to do or if you have a story arc in mind, feel free to share. You can post in public or PM me if you prefer.

Part 2 (Final?):
It started that night as he lay in bed. Every creak, every squeak of the house sounded like thunder in his ears, and the room seemed far too bright. Soon the symptoms faded, however, and he put it out of his mind as a reaction to stress.

When he woke the next morning, he knew it must be something more. His hair started to fade, from its natural brown to a lighter shade, noticeably so. His eyes shifted from green to more of a hazel, and some of the heightened senses he'd experienced the night before had returned, though less intense.

Aaron stayed in, afraid of what was happening to him, and things began to get worse. The sounds grew in intensity again, and the room became unbearably bright. Every scent was nauseatingly strong, and the rooms swirled with deep reds and bright purples and colors men cannot even name, because they've never seen them. Driven to near madness by the overwhelming stimuli, Aaron lashed out, barely registering that he tossed the couch across the room like it weighed nothing, or that when he stumbled and fell onto the brick fireplace it was IT which was damaged, and not his head.

Finally, exhausted, he passed out again. When he woke up for the third time things seemed to have stabilized. He could still see and hear and smell all the same things, but he found if he concentrated he could tune them out and not let them distract him, just like he could with his normal human senses before. He also found that the physical changes, while minor, had completed. His hair was a stark white, with a faint metallic sheen and his skin had bronzed in an unnatural tan. Most noticeably, his eyes became reptilian slits, and glowed faintly yellow-orange as if lit from within by fire.

Over the next few years Aaron came to terms with his new talents, and decided to put them to use. He learned all he could, his unnatural looks giving him a "pass" into the supernaturally community. Particularly, he learned of the Knights of the Cross, and the Denarians they fight, putting two and two together to discover who the mysterious Sanya was, and what his mother had become. He vowed to destroy the demon that possessed her, and others like her, and threw himself into training. He found his new strength and toughness was accompanied by an increase in almost all of his mortal faculties to some extent or another, increased flexibility, speed, and an unmatched memory all accentuated his abilities to make him a fast learner, only needing to be shown a move once and practice it a few times to master it. While by no means a master swordsman, he became adept enough, and his natural talents made him a formidable fighter beyond his skill.

Both as a cover, and to make money and gather further information, he opened a book store that catered to both normal people (albeit mostly fans of fantasy literature and myth), and more surreptitiously to the occult community, selling the occasional arcane text to the discerning buyer, though only ones he felt he could trust not to misuse such things. Both to distance himself from his mother and because he thought it would sell more books, he changed his last name to Drachmen (of Drachmen's Books), a bastardized spelling of the Latin word for dragon, the creature he came to figure out he most resembled in ability.

His partner in this endeavor was a man named Odd John, who is as strange as his name suggests. Aaron has made it his side mission to find out exactly what the dwarf's story is, suspecting a similar, albeit even more traumatic experience made the man what he is today.

Hope it doesn't read too much like bad fan fiction.

Can players pool equipment points for buildings? I have 5 Equipment points remaining, so if I could I'd like to add them to Odd John's for a bigger base with more staff or amenities. If not, I guess I'll just trick out the bookstore and have it be adjacent or something.

Yes, you can pool points for headquarters. Herolab even has a slot for the person managing it to add points from other players.

Backstory looks great.

Sweet.

How often is weapon loss going to come up? My sword is Equipment, just wondering if you plan to "disintegrate the sword" fairly often or not (as the book seem to suggest is the expected default). I can still fight decently enough without it, but I'm very much a sword guy.

Also, basic synopsis of the events occurring in MHI: Nemesis if any are relevant?

I'll get a "trope analysis" up later.

I love TVTropes.com, but going there is dangerous (I always end up reading for hours regardless of what else I have to do...)

Regardless, I'll come up with some trope descriptors for Lakshmi.

Forums are up; the A-Team can dot at both theads.

I picked up relatives at the airport last night, so I will be slow on reading TVTropes (cause that place is dangerous)

Rynjin, I can probably make you a sword as necessary. (subject to tumbler's approval) I still have a few points to spend.

What did you want to add to the base?

increased toughness could be justified by saying this is a newer building on the site of the original
secret rooms could act as a sort of underground railroad for supernaturals
staff could be allied lesser creatures (like the sprites) or pets or suchlike

That's what I was thinking, tumbler. Will look after work today on how devices work and will come up with something. If anybody wants to help me out, that would be awesome.

Very cool. I'll mostly follow my own table. Making an alias now.

Gotta pick up the M&M2 thing for herolab and get an alias made. I'll get on that.

Er, so who's at what table?

Scroll up just a touch to tumbler's post. You're on table 2.

Come on over, Deko.

Fired up first posts on the game play threads. Hope everyone is still on board.
