About Gemma Stone

Background:

Gemma Stone came across as a typical young woman. She was an art school graduate working two jobs to make ends meet, shared an apartment with an old friend, and generally had the same concerns and worries as other young woman. But appearances are deceiving. In reality, Gemma was about as far from ordinary as you can get; she was a fey. Well, half-fey anyways. Her mother had had a “passionate night of love with an angel” as she described it. Really that was just fancy talk for a one night stand with an elf on a midsummer’s night, but you’re hardly going to lie that out bluntly for your child.

And when you knock up a human, the Seelie Courts always stick their nose in that child’s business until they either decide to be human, or be fey. Apparently just being both was not really an option, though Gemma has so far managed to put off committing one way or the other. Both sides had their ups and downs. Of course the most notable down side to the fey half was during puberty when every time she tooted it was accompanied by a plume of glitter...

So, with an overwhelmingly large student debt, she forges ever forward, living a relatively mundane life with a sprinkle of magic on top. During the day she freelances as a graphic designer, primarily working on logos and site designs for corporations who don’t actually know what they want. In the evenings she picks up bartending shifts at a downtown club where she seriously contemplates why exactly she went to art school when she makes significantly more doing this part time than she does doing stupid logos. These thoughts often fade, but are refreshed when she makes her monthly loan payment. It’s a vicious cycle.

Now her days off are when things get fun. She didn’t exactly go to art school to make over-simplified shapes and letters for businesses, or design color schemes that her employers want to induce a desire to buy more apple pies (she still isn’t sure what colors are going to do that). No, she went because painting was her true passion. Putting her art on a canvas for all the world to see has always been her dream, and what better canvas than the side of that building there! Oh yes, graffiti. Have you ever seen those massive, intricate, impossibly located tags? Well, it certainly wasn’t your run of the mill rebellious teen pulling those off. No, works like those required skill, finesse, and maybe a bit of magic. Or a lot of magic. Fortunately, Gemma had a good chunk of that.

But life is more fun when it’s an adventure and Gemma is always seeking new thrills. She keeps an ear to the ground and an eye on the sky, never wanting to miss any chance to dive head first into any shenanigans she can find.
