Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Yeah. I just wanted to 'pretend' to spend it, because it's definitely going to be spent. Which opens up the 2 point evolutions for Miyu instead of fire resistance. :)
Aaaand... looking at the list... Agathions can't take Trip as an evolution. Because reasons. Soooo Reach (emulating lunges) and Fire Resistance it is. Instead of Dodge, I'll take combat reflexes.
Also. I don't care what the rules say. Miyu is just lunging. He's not getting a giraffe neck. :|

Dalang Teniel |

Why not claws? It would at least double his damage output.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Because as stated... I don't really overly care for minmaxing him. I want him to make sense, not just be an optimized kill-them-all monster. I might take claws soon, though. It's... iffy.
Plus, I'm kind of focusing on getting him things I can take away later and have it still seem like growth. For example, trading off a +str advantage and a +reach advantage to get +large down the line.

Dalang Teniel |

Fair enough... I just figured giving a wolf claws made just as much sense as reach.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

I thought about going with Reach + Pull for a bit. Give it the grab and harry style you see a lot of. If that helps it to make more sense visually.
Side note: There will be more optimization, and I totally welcome you to tell me what you think is smart. I'll follow parts of it. Totally. Like I do want him to have 'claws' before he gets the ability to deal fire damage... because prior to having more than 1 natural attack, the fire damage is so wasted.

Dalang Teniel |

Fun fact of the day: with Arcane Mark + Umbral Spell (which I could get around level 6-7, most likely), I can make the party infinite darkness grenades.
Also: With Clarion Call, Tavros can yell at approaching ships to stay away from the island (though I am loathe to give up pirate-fighting xp). At level 4, Teniel will also have Clarion Call, allowing him to make Intimidate checks at +20 from about a mile away (with possible distance penalties, etc, although with his other spells he'll be able to realistically simulate the sounds, flashes, and splashes of defensive cannon fire).

Tavros |

Next thing you know, Tavros is on top of the island ridge, yodeling at pirates while doing the Goatling stompy dance. Truly terrifying. *nods*

Dalang Teniel |

OR, Teniel could make an 80' tall phantom Tavros in the sky that mirrors the real one's dance moves, and maintain it for hours while Tavros yodels loudly enough to be heard miles away!
I see nothing wrong with this plan.

Dalang Teniel |

Oh man. Just learned a new favorite combat tactic from the party I GM, and it basically requires a high-cha oracle. Not sure if Teniel will ever be evil enough for this, but
Step 1. Bluff/Diplomacy
Step 2. Plane Shift
Step 3. Plane Shift (-1 ally)

Dalang Teniel |

Yeah...
These guys also just came up with:
1. Magic Jar
2. Blood Money
3. Fabricate
4. Literal blood diamonds
NE parties are scary.
* * *
Meanwhile, Teniel is fine hanging out on the island for a week—if nothing else, to catch up on sleep, practice foraging, and craft some shoes and armor. Can anyone in the party craft shoes or armor?

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Maks can craft anything. :0

Dalang Teniel |

Even things with a DC higher than 10? Because if so, we can scavenge sails from the ship to make haramaki, padded, or possibly quilted armor, while Teniel can use the ship's tools to chop down some small trees and make you the components for wooden armor and shields.
It could be fun to Swiss Family Robinson for a week or so, then return to the village with new shiny spells and full tree-warrior get-up.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Craft does not require training. :)

Dalang Teniel |

Oh! Then I'm good at it too.
Actually, if we all work together, we can craft about 80 gp of simple equipment per day. I'm thinking wood armor for Makoto, wood barding for the pets, and haramaki or cloth for Lucina and Teniel.

CaveToad |

There are probably enough tools to perform most crafting. It does vary and in some cases you will have a penalty for not having artisan tools. You do find an anvil on the ship, but you do not have a forge, so custom making metal pieces will be challenging, and you will need some for fasteners, buckles, and so forth. Some of the items exist in some small supply if you scavenge other belts or clothing from the ship and/or the dead.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Did most of the ropes and masting survive the fire? If so, we don't have to worry too much about buckles. I'd say tying what we have would just make them vulnerable to sunders. Also, we can't really make the harder to make stuff without a lot of teamwork. Like, Maks can hit DC 18 on her own, but bigger projects would be beyond her. She's also quite capable with alchemy. So maybe gathering some of that plant would be wise. :)

CaveToad |

The fires were fairly localized and more smoke than anything as the damp wood didn't readily burn. The mast was intact despite having cracked and tumbled from the ship over the edge. There is always a lot of rope around so even though some of it may have been singed, you just cut some of it into smaller pieces and salvage what you can.

Dalang Teniel |

Hmm. I figure we have average tools for woodworking and clothworking, but improvised for anything metal.
Guys: We're recycling!

Dalang Teniel |

Terrible tip of the day (learned from the players I GM): There's nothing in the rulebook that says you can't use diplomacy on a shoggoth.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Okay, nothing overmuch to worry about here. I have been suffering from depression and anxiety (which has gotten significantly worse very recently). It has definitely affected my post rate. I'm trying to get things under control, and am trimming down on the campaigns that make me feel like 'why bother'. This is not one of those, though it Indonesia the ones that my lower energy has resulted in a lower post rate in.
I'm currently just trying to let everyone know what's up, and or asking to be shown out of campaigns.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Indonesia --> 'Is one of'

Tavros |

Depression and anxiety suck. I hope things get better!

Dalang Teniel |

Including the days we've spent on the island, it's approximately 146 gp worth of crafting, as follows (since we have appropriate tools for woodworking, cloth-cutting, and sewing—but alas, no leather to work with):
-Shadow Stencils for Teniel, dangling on cords from his clothing and sword (30 gp)
-Padded Armor for Teniel (5 gp, +1 AC)
-Padded Armor for Makoto (5 gp, +1 AC)
-Haramaki for Lucina, using metal and wood scraps (3 gp, +1 AC)
-Wooden Barding for Pamburu (40 gp, +3 AC)
-Heavy Wooden Shield for Lucina (7 gp, +2 AC, doesn't interfere with brawler's flurry, can be dropped as a free action when she casts a spell)
-Some bedrolls and blankets
-A handful of signal whistles (if we craft fancy, 2-5 gp whistles, they should be able to carry at least 1/4 mile according to the misc. gear stats)
-The rest, presumably, goes into constructing a decent shelter
Y'all equip your armor now!

Dalang Teniel |

So, while we wait for our GM to rally, what do people think about trying to find a new player for our table? I can think of a few names of players several of us have contact with, the "interested in wacky games" sort, and would be happy to discuss this further with interested parties.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Iunno. I'm very indecisive lately.

Tavros |

I'm fine with who we have, but I don't particularly mind much either way.

Dalang Teniel |

Hmm. Fair enough. I've definitely got no problems with the party; it just seemed CT had a general preference for 5-man tables.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

I'm neutral. If someone else can have fun with it without breaking the balance, I'm cool.

Dalang Teniel |

Hmm. My thought was that a good first person to ask would be the ol' kittyface GM, since he sometimes likes unusual games and Taru says he's a fun player.
As for balance, we have one divine, three melee, four arcane, and four skills characters. A bit more divine power could be interesting, but I can't imagine anything unbalancing us right now. Plus, with a painter/instrumentalist, dreamer, dancer, and actor/animal summoner, we could benefit from the addition of a singer or sculptor.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

I was gonna say All we need is a drummer... but then I remember Miyu's got that covered.

Dalang Teniel |

And Magang Bayangan can actually sing pretty well.
We could use an acrobat or juggler, though. From a balance perspective, an anti-mage might be neat.
Otherwise, it's not really musician-centric, but here's my old "complete list of (circus) party roles," which Hotaru will remember:
-Snake Charming ( )
-Lion Taming (Teniel)
-Caravan Driving ( )
-Location Scouting (Lucina or Teniel or Makoto)
-Trick Riding (Teniel)
-Clowning (Teniel)
-Ring-leading (Makoto or Teniel)
-Palm-reading ( )
-Trapeze ( )
-Balance Beam (Lucina)
-Plate Spinning ( )
-Rope climbing (Tavros)
-Contortionist (Lucina)
-Escapist magic ( )
-Juggling ( )
-Three-Card Monte/shell games ( )
-Chinese yo-yo ( )
-Fleecing the crowd ( )
-Knife Throwing (Lucina)
-Performance combat (Makoto)
-Caravan lookout (Tavros)
-Guess-your-weight games ( )
-Faith Healing (Teniel or Makoto)
-Long-form fortune telling ( )
-Card Tricks and Sleight Magic ( )
-"Legitimate" stage magic (Teniel)
-Sellable charms and baubles ( )
-Arm wrestling (Tavros)
-Weight lifting (Tavros)
-Sword swallowing ( )
-Fire eating ( )

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

:P Miyu can eat fire with next to no harmful effect, and would not at all mind guessing people's weights. :)

Dalang Teniel |

Oh, also, a note to all my games: I'll be donating bone marrow next week. I expect this to be mostly incapacitating wednesday-friday, but how much energy I have in the week before/after to post to games may depend on how much residual pain I'm in from the drugs/procedure etc.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

If Teniel soaks the invisible target, Sora can fly in and land on what the water is running off of (As long as they're in range). Sora will do that if Teniel soaks him. Sora cannot move more than 100 feet from Maks.

Dalang Teniel |

One of these days, we need a druidcaster to faerie fire... though Makoto might enjoy glitterdust for aesthetic reasons.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Glitterdust is a personal favorite, yes.

Dalang Teniel |

Maaan guys we *seriously* need better spells. Also I'm honestly not sure how we can avoid getting killed by this thing, though if it gets within 35 feet I can try.
Also: I believe Lucina should know three sorcerer spells at this level, not two?

Dalang Teniel |

"Powder: Powdered chalk, flour, and similar materials are popular with adventurers for their utility in pinpointing invisible creatures. Throwing a bag of powder into a square is an attack against AC 5, and momentarily reveals if there is an invisible creature there. A much more effective method is to spread powder on a surface (which takes 1 full round) and look for footprints."
GM ruling: what's the range on throwing powder sacks? Because we can probably make some.

Dalang Teniel |

Actually, Makoto might remember a character of mine named Korash, who never really learned the language of the rest of the party in the short time our game ran. The guy had 20 wisdom and 16 charisma, and my plan was for him to stop talking like a caveman and instead start reciting beautiful, metered poetry the second anyone bothered to fix the telepathy effect that was supposed to let us talk to each other.

Makoto 'Maks' Kasumi |

Yup. And I was best dragon. :)

Dalang Teniel |

Right. Just... I've got the same lack of comprehensive speech right now.
*One day* Teniel will get to do his storytelling.

Dalang Teniel |

Also, fun fact of the day: While I intended "Dalang Teniel Memedi" to mean "Teniel the Pale, Master of Puppets" it looks like it also might be valid to translate it as "Teniel the Undead Mastermind" or "Teniel the Supervillain Ghost." Hooray for ambiguity!
