Hello, sis!
I hope this letter finds you well, and with some free time on your hands, because we’ve got something of a problem. It’s to do with father. Seems that he might have had something to do with Sandpoint ’s recent troubles with the goblins, and I didn't want to bring the matter to the authorities because we both know he’d just weasel his way out of it. You’ve got some pull here in town, though. If you can meet me at the Glassworks at midnight tonight, maybe we can figure out how to make sure he faces the punishment he deserves. Knock twice and then three times more and then once more at the delivery entrance and I’ll let you in.

In any case, I don’ t have to impress upon you the delicate nature of this request. If news got out, you know these local rubes would assume that you and I were in on the whole thing too, don’t you? They’ve got no honor at all a round these parts. I still don’t understand how you can stand to stay here. Anyway, don’ t tell anyone about this. There are other complications as well ones I’d rather talk to you in person about tonight. Don’t be late.
Tsuto

"It was written in Minkaian. Tsuto must have thought no one could read it but Ameiko. But Ameiko has been teaching me Minkaian. This is the translation. The original is on the other side," the Halfling says hurriedly.

Brathana explains, "Tsuto was something of a scandal when he was born back in 4688 (a year before Ameiko), since he’s a half-elf. Neither of Ameiko’s parents are elves. It was obvious that old Lonjiku wasn’t the boy’s father, and his rage at the discovery of his wife’s indiscretion was the talk of the town for months. Lonjiku’s wife Atsuii never revealed who the father was, and it’s a testament to Lonjiku’s stubbornness that they remained married," clearly Brathana has been with the family a long time.

She continues, "Tsuto was handed over to the Turandarok Academy to be raised outside of the Kaijitsu family, ignored by his father and forbidden visits from his mother. Ameiko starting visiting him in secret once she learned about his existence at the age of 10, visiting him a few times a month to keep him company, bring him some food, and promise him that someday things would get all sorted out. That all changed in 4705, when they had a terrible argument in which Tsuto struck Ameiko. I don’t know what the argument was about, but whatever it was sent Ameiko away from Sandpoint for a year, during which time she made a living as an adventurer. She returned to Sandpoint a year later to attend her mother’s funeral. Tsuto was quite public in his opinions that his father had pushed Atsuii off a cliff to her death, and during the funeral there was a confrontation. Lonjiku nearly broke Tsuto’s jaw with his cane, after which Tsuto cursed him and left Sandpoint. Ameiko has tried to reestablish contact with him ever since, but was never able to track him down," the Halfling quickly relays the story hoping to convey the gravity of the situation.

"I am worried that Tsuto’s up to no good. Please head over to the Glassworks and find out what happened to Ameiko as soon as possible," Brathana pleads with the party.

New map up. Will add tokens later when party has had an opportunity to review. Tokens in the map will be very small. Zoom to 200%, then enlarge again to get more detailed view.

Lady Brathana, please do not let anyone know that we have gone there. we will wish to keep as much surprise as possible

With that, Brandark goes grabs his gear and weapons, and then heads out via the back ways to the glassworks.

"Indeed. I really like this Ameiko. She is every... A well we should investigate!"

"As Brandark said, please do not let anyone else know of this" he asks Brathana, and as he looks at the others, "we will go investigate and let you know." As Brandark, starts to head out, "wait. Meet downstairs. We should all go together. If this signal, and this glassworks is a trap, you do not want to go rushing head long into it. I know dwarves and Shoanti men are brash, however there are times that finesse is needed. While I scout, I also have a way with locks, so we can hurry there, but once there let me investigate the doors before charging in to a probable trap."

Kelvin stops talking for a moment, and he seems amazed at himself for speaking such a large amount. He then goes to his room and gets his dressed in his armor, grabs his weapons, strapping them on with longbow in hand, and puts on his belt pouch that contains his tools. He then heads downstairs and waits / meets the others before heading out.

Cyrdak Drokkus literally jumps for joy. "With my Direction, I am sure you will be fantastic. I should begin handling casting in about three days. You are staying at the Rusty Dragon, correct. You really should consider the White Deer," there is almost a hint of disdain in his voice when he mentions the Rusty Dragon. "I will send for you when ready. Should you change where you are staying, just let me know. I can usually be found at the Theater."

Well then, Lyr says with a small bow, I shall be there. Thank you for the offer Master Drokkus. Lyr moves off with a little smile.

The Sheriff looks at Shalelu, "While I am out of town, I've asked Shalelu to sniff around Shank’s Wood, Brinestump, Mosswood, Devil’s Platter, and other places where goblins live to see if she can discover anything else about what’s going on.

He then looks specifically at the party, "I would like for you all to stay here in Sandpoint. To maintain a public presence over the next few days, if you don’t mind. The locals seem to have taken to you. And seeing you around town will do a lot for keeping worries down over the next few days. It would be appreciated,” the usual stern man was far more gentle with his delivery, as though he was pleading to the party.

It is a pleasure to meet you miss Shalelu, Lyr says stepping forward. And Sheriff, we will do what we can to make sure this town stays safe.

In the morning of the sixth day Garrath about audibly gulps when he sees the Elven Ranger in the too small towel and turns crimson red, before hurriedly, clumsily making his way downstairs, and listening to Brathana. He nods agreement with Kelvin, "Shoanti also know the time for stealth and ambush, we'll watch your back." As Shalelu turns to walk away, Garrath's eyes widen, and his breath seems to catch just a bit before he hastily turns his head back under the guise of listening to the party. "But if it is a trap meant for Ameiko, we should hurry." His eyes narrow and the next comes out as almost a growl, "We must not be late again."

During Day 5, the teen girls swoon over Garrath with his abilities as they follow him around town. The one that gave him a braided ring was just too shy to come forth. But your prowess this day made her happy. Shayliss came out again later in the day, and followed around too when ever Brandark was present. Her very formal attire of the previous day was a little more loose and carefree today.

At the Turandarok Academy ILSOARI GANDETHUS was very grateful for the time you devoted this day. And he was hopeful that you would be able to return to help out some more.

The Sheriff was equally pleased by your willingness to help. Sandpoint is more than just his home, it is his passion.

Back to Day Six

As the party moves quickly toward the Glassworks in the predawn hours, people are already milling about. You will be noticed even traveling the side streets and back ways to the Glassworks.

As you see the large stone structure, plumes of smoke rise from the furnace stacks. SABYL SORN, the balance beam instructor from the Festival, eyes Kelvin and the rest of the party during her early morning calisthenics near her House of Blue Stone , "Is everything alright?" Seeing a party of adventurers, especially this early in the morning, is an unusual sight in Sandpoint.

After everyone comes downstairs, Kelvin hurrys out towards the glassworks, and once there, he heads directly for the door in front of them (D11-12), and looks over the door for traps, if finding none, he listens at the door, and then checks for locks and if locked gets his tools from his belt pouch and works on the lock.

From the map, North is on the right; and West is toward the top looking out toward the sea. The House of Blue Stone is the stone building to the North of the Glassworks. A set of double doors marks the service entrance to the building is just to its left facing East. Another door further down is he business entrance. And toward the South below a rotunda is the main showroom entrance. There are more townsfolk beginning their morning routines seen on the East and South sides. A set of double doors on the West side of the Glassworks looks over a cliff. A set of stairs rises up from the cliff side to this other entrance. There is no other citizens on this side of the building.

Perception (DC 10):
You hear the rumble of the Glassworks’ furnace.

Perception (DC 14):
And you can also hear what sounds like high-pitched giggles, shrieks, and breaking glass as well.

It looks like you made both Perception checks. You do not detect a trap on the door.

Kelvin works hard to pick the lock, but it is a tough one and fails to pick it.

"Damn lock is too complicated and can't be opened. Garrath, you or Brandark will need to bust this door down. I hear high-pitched giggles, shrieks, and breaking glass, so someone is in trouble."

move action to open the doors, after ensuring that kelvin is out of the way.

A furnace burns along the southeast wall of this room. It gives the room an eerie glow. Marble tables sit in the chamber, used to work raw glass into usable shapes, with nearby wooden tables cluttered with various tools of the trade. The building’s furnace rumbles loudly. But it is the gruesome display of goblin boredom that first grabs your attention. The bodies of eight humanoids lie in various stages of dismemberment; the goblins have been burning legs and arms in the furnace with glee, and pouring melted glass on the remains. In the central alcove and encased in thick, runny sheets of hardened glass is the dead body of Lonjiku Kaijitsu, a horrible pained expression upon his face visible within the glass.

You surprise the Goblins. They were preoccupied by their mayhem.

In our ftf, players didn't like the hit you take on AC from it.

Added note: Garrath's Falchion does become a 2d6 weapon. That is sweet. A crit would be serious Goblin squish.

Now it looks like we are just waiting on Gobo's and Shalelu before we start on our next turn.

BTW, did you miss my question about the goblin with the U on it on the map. does that mean it is out cold?

Didn't miss your question. I was going to respond when I get a chance to take the Goblin's turn. The "U" means Unconscious and that square is now Difficult Terrain. I have eight Goblins left to attack to end the Round.

Sorry. Very long day yesterday and today. However, camping season is over this coming Sunday so I won't have the real long Monday's till next May. Ready for next round.

Two Goblins (1 and 2) fell to the ground bleeding by the onslaught by Garrath and Brandark.

The Goblin (3) just beyond Garrath, hurls glass at the Barbarian.

Goblin 3 hurls broken glass at Garrath: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 91d3 ⇒ 2 But it misses.

Another Goblin holding a pair of tongs dripping with molten glass runs up to Brandark and tries to touch him.

Goblin 4 attempts to touch Brandark with molten glass: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 181d4 ⇒ 1 Fire Damage

Brandark takes a point of fire damage.

Yet another Goblin (5) moves up and hurls shards of glass at the big Barbarian.

Goblin 5 hurls shards of glass at Garrath: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 181d3 ⇒ 1

Garrath is slightly cut by one of the shards. He takes a point of damage.

Sitting further back, the other Goblins pulls out Short Bows and begins peppering the party with arrows. One Goblin (6) jumps on a table to have a better view. Another (8) jumps on a table near Lonjiku.

Goblin 6 Fires Arrow at Garrath: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d4 ⇒ 4

Garrath takes 4 points of damage.

Golbin 7 also Fires at the Garrath: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 4 = 141d4 ⇒ 2 Cover -4

This may hit Garrath as well for 2 more points of damage. Please confirm.

Goblin 8 Sends an Arrow toward Brandark: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 151d4 ⇒ 3 Cover -4

The arrow is deflected off Brankdark's armor.

Golbin 9 Fires at Lyr: 1d20 + 4 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 - 1 = 81d4 ⇒ 1 Cover -4, and Range -1

Goblin 10 Sends an Arrow toward Brandark: 1d20 + 4 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 - 1 = 11d4 ⇒ 4 Cover -4 and Range -1

The Goblins in the back of the room sends their arrows flying, but they badly miss.

All standard Goblins gets a +4 attack with their Shortbows.

End of Round One

Round Two

I was hoping to finish up the round sooner, but work got in the way. I still need to earn a living. :) I guess I should have waited just a little longer. :(

Brandark grimaces in pain as the molten glass finds a weakness in his trusty scale armour. You all will pay for that!!

He then swings a hard blow across at the goblin that just ran at him.

attack # 4: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 16
damage: 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14

if goblin goes down, will move up next to goblin 5

That Gob had two points of damage to begin with from Shalelu. So that actually may kill the beastie or very close enough. The molten glass likely touched off a piece of clothing, a shirt or something, sticking out from around the armor that caused a minor singe.

Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d8 ⇒ 5
No problem. Ya gotta feed your family!

Kelvin moves around the unconscious goblin and the table to a point where he has a clear shot at a goblin and fires.
