Round One
Garrath goes first in the round.
The Shoanti Barbarian in full rage attacks the mounted Goblin.
Goblin's Mounted Combat Feat - Ride check versus Garrath's attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
The Goblin was unable to maneuver his mount to avoid the blow.
Goblin took 10 points of damage. Amazingly it is still up on its mount. It's hurt for sure.
Kelvin's arrow shot misses the Hairless Dog.
Brandark Plainswalker
Through the tactitian ability, and my standard action, I gave it to all allies within 30' of me. AKA all allies
Goblin Leader
The mounted Goblin in pain attacks the raging human.
Ride Check (Free Action) to push mount into Battle: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
The little beast knows how to handle its mount.
Mounted Goblin attacks Garrath with odd looking polearm.: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Garrath takes 3 points of damage.
The "Hairless Dog" attacks too.
Hairless dog bite versus Garrath: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
GM has the hot dice. Garrath takes an additional 4 points of damage.
Garrath is also bitten by the dog.
Garrath's Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
With no lingering effects.
GM Mazra
Through the tactitian ability, and my standard action, I gave it to all allies within 30' of me. AKA all allies
One of the reasons I picked you for this adventure was the fact I have never had a Cavalier before in any game I previously was GM. Cool ability. Learn something new every day.
GM Mazra
Lyr sends forth electrical sparks at the Hairless Dog. It whelps in pain.
Goblin Dog takes two points of damage.
A Goblin (G1) walks up to the dog's corpse and sticks its hand into its fatal wound.
Another Goblin takes a step and attacks the raging Human.
Goblin 2 attacks Garrath with its odd little sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d4 ⇒ 3
But is too fearful to get in an attack.
And yet another Goblin will attack the approaching Dwarf.
Goblin 3 attacks Brandark: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 91d4 ⇒ 2
But lacks any real skill to hit the Dwarf.
I will wait for Elektra's actions before finishing the round.
Garrath Tricks the Giants
Did we get a surprise round when we first attacked?
Brandark Plainswalker
Brandark yells at the golins "little goblin, little goblin, come and die."
Attacks Goblin 3
attack: 1d20 + 1 + 3 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 3 + 1 - 1 = 15
BAB, Str, Hatred, power
damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10
Str, Power, Hate
If goblin 3 is dead before I get a chance to attack, 5' adjust to flanking number 2
GM Mazra
Oops! I misplayed that. The Goblins were distracted. You must have the AP too. I don't think you can charge in a surprise round anyway. That is usually a full round action. This falls into the exploded bomb category, meaning it may be too hard to put it back together; so we move on. I will try to be more observant of that in the future.
Brandark Plainswalker
Mazra, I didn't even think it was a surprise round anyways. I just acted like a normal round. :) Things like this happen, so I am not worried about it.
Elektra Stardancer
Seeing the danger her comrades are, Elektra moves a few step closer and starts to weave an incanation. Suddenly the ground between the eastern goblins take an oily shine.
Grease DC 17
GM Mazra
I will assume map coordinates S18 & 19, and T18 & 19.
Goblins begin to slip and slide.
Goblin 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Goblin 3 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Both the little baddies fall flat on their butts.
Goblins 1 & 2 have the prone status.
Brandark advances.
End of Round One.
Round Two
Brandark Plainswalker
I will use my attack numbers from a couple of hours ago for my attack on number 3. however, the actual attack number will be 19, due to number 3 being prone. Or did you want me to re roll?
Then I will move around the slick looking spot to S17 after my attack.
Brandark Plainswalker
sounds good. Just wanting to avoid as much confusion as possible. :p
As of this turn, tactitian ability will only work for 2 more rounds for attacks of opportunity
"And stay down" Attacking goblin 2 upon its attempt to stand up on its turn. (if it survives)
attack of opp: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 4 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 4 + 4 - 1 = 14
mods STR, BAB, HATE, Power, Ability, Prone
damage: 1d8 + 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 3 + 2 = 14
mods STR, HATE, POWER
Kelvin Fleetwood
Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d8 ⇒ 2 well, maybe....
Goblin 2, or Goblin 1. Which ever is not next to a friendly
Picking out a goblin that is not engaged with any of his new companions, Kelvin shoots it with an arrow. "Hey beastie, come get me!" If the goblin takes him up on his taunt, he switches to his rapier.
Garrath Tricks the Giants
Garrath continues in a rage fueled haze, shrugging off the bleeding injuries to swing at the mounted goblin again.
attack mounted goblin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Goblin Leader
Wounded and dizzy with pain, the Mounted Goblin maneuvers his Hairless Dog away from the Shoanti Barbarian's reach.
Then the cleaver little Goblin, pulls a bottle from his satchel, uncorks it with his teeth, and drinks the contents.
potion of cure moderate wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10
Mounted Goblin is healed for 10 points of damage.
Goblins say You be Food
After being hit by an arrow, the stupid little beast finally realizes he is in a battle, takes a step and attacks the angry Human.
Goblin 1 attacks Garrath: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d4 ⇒ 1
More lucky than good, the Goblin cuts into Garrath's flesh.
Garrath takes 1 point of damage.
One of the slipping and sliding Goblins attempts to crawl its way out of the Grease.
Garrath can take an Attack of Opportunity on Goblin 2. If the Goblin is neither dead or unconscious, then Goblin 2 will move to S17, outside the Grease zone and stand up.
The other Goblin in the Grease attempts to stand up. Move Action
Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Brandark swings at the Goblin as it begins to rise, but the sliding little guy was just too hard to hit.
He in turns takes a swing at Brandark.
Goblin 3 attacks Brandark: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d4 ⇒ 1
But the Goblins little odd sword just clangs against his Scale Armor.
Will wait on Garrath's AoO and Elektra's turn to finish the round.
Brandark Plainswalker
Brandark, not moving and very annoyed at the pesky little things says. "Why don't you things just die."
attacks number 3 again
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Really dice, again ??
Elektra Stardancer
Moving a few steps to get clear line of sight Elektra nocks another arrow to shoot at the rider. But alas the arrow just passes a few inches to far.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d6 ⇒ 6
GM Mazra
Was the Acrobatics to avoid the aoo from us? Is that why we didn't get one for goblin 3 standing?
You too get an Attack of Opportunity on Goblin 3 with your reach weapon. The acrobatics check was just to see if the Goblin manages to stand up. Brandark took an AoO, but missed. There are four actions that have not been tallied to close the round, your's and Garrath's AoO, Elektra's missed bow shot, and finally Brandark's attack. Not the one a few post above. By all means, if you ever think you have an AoO, or other action as a result of the situations, please let me know. In my ftf campaigns, I often depend on the players to call out AoOs when they come up.
GM Mazra
Thanks. Jostling with baby, the job and university I admit I am not 100% fit with all spells!
It is cool. Also, I WILL make mistakes. As further clarification, the rule just talks about walking through the zone. This is where the GM gets to do a little interpretation. I saw the act of getting up in a Grease zone as requiring a certain degree of balance, so I imposed the Acrobatics check on Goblin 3. Now Goblin 2 is attempting to crawl through the zone. I don't see that as requiring the same level of balance, so I am not requiring that little fellow the Acrobatics Check. Of course, it maybe a moot point if Garrath manages to hack him up with his AoO.
"Lyr"
Well, I was waiting to see what happened with goblin 2, but I'll just post and see how it works.
Lyr swings at the goblin as he tries to stand but he slips a little to the side, managing to dodge.
AOO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 +2 if flanking
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Brandark Plainswalker
Lyr, your AOO on gobo 2 has an additional +4. Not that it matters with that roll, but for everyone, the AOO on goblins that I am threatening, all have an additional +4 for 2 more rounds
Brandark Plainswalker
It doesn't help on my rolls that I didn't exceed 11 on my last 3 rolls. :( . Garrath, take your dice back, or give them to the GM. .. :)
Lyr, the other thing, I just noticed that you are out of reach of gobo 2. But not 3, so your numbers should be for #3, not #2. If you were in R17, you would be able to reach both. :)
Garrath Tricks the Giants
Garrath sees the goblin trying to maneuver away and takes a swing before it can.
attack gob2: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 4 = 10
damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
GM Mazra
Garrath engaged on one side, notices a Goblin crawling behind him. He swings his Falchion but misses the greasy menace.
Elektra and Brandark also miss their attacks against the agile abominations.
End of Round Two. This is not the first time that Grease has caused a certain amount of chaos in an encounter that I have had the pleasure to GM. It may be one of the most effective first level spells in the game.
Round Three
Garrath Tricks the Giants
Garrath notes the goblin moving away and smiles at it as he tries to cut down the goblin's friend.
attack goblin 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (4, 4) + 7 = 15
Brandark Plainswalker
Brandark, moves at an angle, obviously avoiding the slick spot on the ground.
Route is from S20 to R19, to Q18, to R17 total of 20'
"Puny little rodent, begone" attacks goblin 2
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 22
STR, BAB, HATE, Power
damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
STR, HATE, POWER
The paired opportunist will last for 1 more round after this
Brandark Plainswalker
Yay, go garrath. :)
Elektra Stardancer
Seeing that she will need some extra help Elektra will weave an incanation, to get a better understanding of the flow of battle.
Cast True strike. When I do it in the round is rather unimportant.
Goblin Leader
Having renewed vigor, the mounted Goblin reengages with the Shoanti man.
mounted Goblin attacks Garrath: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
The Goblin's thrust of his Horsechopper missed the Barbarian.
The hairless dog also bites at the Human.
Goblin Dog attacks Garrath: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
The Goblin Dog manages to bite the human. Garrath takes the maximum damage from the Goblin Dog, 9 points.
Garrath Fort Save vs. effect of Goblin Dog's bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The strong bite passes on other effects.
You will all soon know that the hairless dogs are known as Goblin Dogs, a truly disgusting beast. The odd little swords are Dogslicers. The makeshift lance is a Horsechopper.
GM Mazra
Lyr's swing of the Glaive just misses the greasy goblin.
The greasy little Goblin attacks the approaching Dwarf.
Goblin 2 attacks Brandark: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d4 ⇒ 2
But is as inept as the other Greasy Goblin.
As Elektra weaves a spell, Brandark in an almost, "How dare you," response, buries his Battle Axe into the Greasy Goblin. It slumps over and begins to die.
End of Round Three
Round Four
GM Mazra
Not sure of my post above was R3 or R4, so just in case.
[dice=Longbow]d20+4;d8 Hope that hits!Kelvin moves to where he can eventually flank the Goblin Dog and it's rider, and gets off a shot with his longbow at the dog, and wounds it.
Round Three was the above post. So thanks for putting in a Round Four action.
