As Garrath staggers back, the Goblin smiles menacingly, only to feel his mount stumble and fall beneath him. Kelvin had sneaked up behind and hit the Goblin Dog with a well placed bow shot.
Goblin's Soft Fall Check (DC 15), or take 1d6 damage: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 281d6 ⇒ 2
The Goblin manages to jump clear of the beast. No longer smiling, he sees a Dwarf with a big battle axe approaching, and flees toward the North Gates.
I will give Brandark an AoO on the once mounted Goblin.

Elektra Stardancer |
Yep so the rider and with+20.Sorry my baby daughter is crying all the time little concentration atm. I deeply apologize
The last second Elektra changes her aim and with insight born by her spell her arrow unerringly strikes the rider.
Brandark Plainswalker |
Brandark, does a quick look over of the last goblin to fall.
"We should get these things to the smith, so that he can melt them down for proper items." He then looks around "Any more goblins?"
Noticing for the first time, the fellow against the wall.
"Sir, are you alright?"
Aldern of Foxglove |
”Thank you! Thank you,” a young man rises from behind a barrel. He is dressed as a nobleman with finely embroidered blue top coat, silk tan waistcoat and breeches with white shirt and stockings. ”I am Aldern Foxglove, and I am in your debt, the dandy says with a slight bow.
Even after this ordeal he barely has dust on his shoes. ”I have never seen such prowess,” he then becomes transfixed on Lyr, ”especially in one so lovely.” He pulls out of this momentary trance and looks at the rest of the party, ”You all deserve a reward for your valor.”
He glances about nervously looking for more goblins, ”I will be in town for only a few more days. I am staying at the Rusty Dragon to the south. When you get a chance, stop by and I will reward you properly for saving my life.” He then carefully gathers the dog’s body and heads south, again nervously looking in all directions.
Kelvin Fleetwood |
"Everyone still standing?" queries Kelvin. Getting an affirmative, he starts to search the bodies for coins, jewelry, gems and anything else that looks interesting. "At least we will be able to afford a real comfortable bed tonight" he quips.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Identify potion DC 15 + caster level. Nice roll, I know if it is 4th level or less.
Pulling out the potion that he found earlier, he dips a finger in it and tastes it, trying to identify the potion.
GM Mazra |
To keep matters simple, for all Goblins you collected the following:
From looted bodies not including the Warchanter’s stuff previously noted:
120GP, 284SP, 392CP. 10 suits of Goblin Leather, 2 suits of Goblin Studded Leather, 10 sm wooden shields. 12 dogslicers, 1 mwk Horsechopper, 2 short bows & 36 arrows, very small pearl, small pearl, regular pearl, and another potion Cure Moderate Wound (2d8+3) in addition to the previous Cure Light Wound (1d8+1) potion .
Elektra Stardancer |
She is a great baby, but either she gets her first teeth, or the mexican food last night my wive ate didn´t correspond well. She needs some time every evening, but tonight she was crying for 5 hours straight.
Whisteling a small note Elektra summons her little familiar to her side.
With a small gesture Elektra checks for anything magical before sitting down and rethinking the battle in her head, absentmindly stroking her little familiars head. "This is kind of strange. Goblins are not know for their bravery and attacking during a festival. Granted they could start major chaos, but in the end, this was a foolhardy and rather stupid stunt. Maybe we should ask the mayor if he needs more help. And... you all were quite brave. I do not know if I had the courage to fight without your valor. Especially you young human man. I think we have not introduced ourselves. You can call me Elektra."
Good Sheriff Hemlock |
I will go ahead and post the continuing RP portions. Please feel free to dialog with any of the following at any point in time.
As the party returns back to the Cathedral square, Mayor Deverin, Father Zantus and Ameiko Kaijitsu are at the Cathedral’s top steps. The raid on Sandpoint is almost over. Sheriff Hemlock arrives from the south with a pair of Sandpoint Guards and two bound up captured Goblins. ”What’s left of them are fleeing to the north. Some of them jumped off the cliffs near the Old Light, likely to their death. We have no idea what they were after. These two don't seem to know much. But I will interrogate them further. I know of two deaths, an elderly visitor that had arrived by ship, and the teenage daughter of Farmer Caddik,” The Sheriff offers his report to the Mayor.
See Cathedral Square Map
Proprietor Kaijitsu |
Ameiko Kaijitsu approaches the party, ”Everyone must be tired. I know I am. Tonight I can offer my servant Brathana’s and my room for tonight at the Rusty Dragon. We have a place to sleep just off the kitchen. And tomorrow I can offer you two rooms, one for the Ladies, and another for the Gents free of charge for the next week.
Father Zantus speaks, ”Yes, tonight we must rest. Tomorrow we will mourn, then bury our dead. ”
If the party agrees with Ameiko’s offer, they will follow her and Brathana to the Rusty Dragon. The kitchen and tavern areas are closed for the evening. Once at the Rusty Dragon it does not take long for two beds to be ready in Ameiko’s room for Elektra and Lyr. and three beds in Brathana’s room for Brandark, Garrath and Kelvin.
Please provide what a typical morning’s activity is for your character, so I may incorporate it into the morning narratives.
End of Day One
Brandark Plainswalker |
Brandark looks over at Lady Kaijitsu "I would be honoured to accept your hospitality.
Then looking over at father zantus"Father Zantus, do you need assistance in the burial?"
After asking those questions, he then poses to the rest of the group "I suggest that we sell the metal to the smith, and then see where we go from there"
suggesting that we sell the tiny items to the smith for standard 1/2 price unless you can use it but not the potions or pearls.
Brandark Plainswalker |
"I will be there."Brandark mentions."The rest of the fallen should not go unremembered and unremarked."
Brandark looks over at the others"No objections over selling the goblin weapons, as they are not good ones?"
Elektra Stardancer |
The evening before."No, but this is a task for tomorrow!"
Joining Lyr in the room Elektra will use the prestidigation cantrip very diligently to clean first her clothes, then her familiar Honeytrap and then her bed of any speck of dust, bloodstain and dirt. After washing herself she takes a quick nap and then meditates for another 4 hours before preparing her spells for the day. After feeling ready to face the days surprises she wakes Lyr gently and takes a quick walk to give Honeytrap a chance to relieve himself she joins the others for breakfast.
The Honorable Mayor Deverin |
Maybe we should ask the mayor if he needs more help.
I will assume that the party ask the Mayor this question.
"We will need more help. Would you please stay in Sandpoint for a while? I saw what you did this day, she looks around at all the party. "Brave souls like yourselves are precious resources at times like this. We don't know if they will return, and in greater numbers."
Garrath Tricks the Giants |
Garrath nods to the Mayor, "The little runts do at their peril, for we will be ready, and crush them beneath our heels. He looks at his wounds, and smiles, "They leave us with a few more scars worthy of good tales, and we leave their mates lamenting the time they ever came after Sandpoint.
He looks at Lyr, and lays one meaty hand on her shoulder, smiling, "Thank you priestess. I owe you a boon for keeping me on my feet. I am Garrath. I hope our travels will follow the same path, so that I may even the scales, or come to a time when we no longer feel the need for balancing between friends."
He looks at the others and then at the nobleman with a wide grin, "I think tonight, my new friends, we will eat and drink well, and without our pouches feeling any lighter. I am Garrath of the Shriikiri-Quah, and I am honored to have shared a battlefield with all of you."
Brandark Plainswalker |
"Honoured to meet you Garrath. My name is Brandark." Then looks over at Lyr "My appreciation for the healing from your god."
"I will join you in a few minutes for the supper, but I must check upon a travelling companion that wasn't able to join us in the fight."
Brandark then goes to the stable to check upon then feed Abacuzar (Abacus)
Upon return, joins in the meal. Later in the room, stich up the holes in cloths, and checks over his mail.
In the morning, wakes up to meet the sun, as it comes up. Then goes down to the common room for breakfast.
"Lyr" |
Lyr's face suffuses with color. Well thank you.
Lyr looks over Garrath's remaining wounds, Is anyone else hurt? She looks at her companions, eybrows raised. After a moment she turns back to Garrath, I am glad to have helped you stay upright. In addition I have some more healing, but what I have will heal several at a time. I would like to see if there are others at the cathedral square that need help as well. Shall we?
In the square, Lyr finds those who need healing, and organizes them. She channels as much energy from Shelyn as she can. Soon, her face haggard, she makes her way to the Rusty Dragon for a good night's sleep. She falls on her bed without any preamble and falls asleep almost immediately.
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Any who wished to be in the channeled energy can be assumed to be. As well as any commoners etc. who need it.
In the morning, Lyr begins her prayers to Shelyn, singing a song to her praise. Prepare spells as the day before, but replace Guidance with Mending and Sun Metal with Command. I'm also changing my domain spell to obscuring mist. She then stands and begins to mend the tears in her clothes, after a few minutes work, Lyr washes up and heads out to meet the others for breakfast.
Garrath Tricks the Giants |
Garrath walks with Lyr, helping the tired cleric into the Dragon, and then to her room. After which he heads back to the common room to drink and eat more. He'll either sleep in the common room, or head to the shared room with the other men. In the morning he wakes early and visits either a bath, or goes outside and dumps water from a rainbarrel over his head.
He walks back to the common room, still wet, to meet with the others, a wide smile splitting his face.
Brandark Plainswalker |
Ah the joys of a cold bath. :)
Padre Zantus |
Father Zantus brings out several wounded citizens and other attendees to the festival to receive healing from Lyr. "Shelyn has blessed us to have one of her Clerics here this day. I have done all I could," a clearly exhausted Father Zantus states with a sigh. "We currently do not have a Cleric of Shelyn on staff," he says finally returning to tend to some children nearby.
Brandark Plainswalker |
Shortly after breakfast, Brandark gathers all of the goblin weapons and equipment "I will see to disposing of these" and then takes them to the smithy to sell for the value of the metal.
Once done that, he will proceed to the cathedral to help with the burials.
After the burials, he will return to the dragon, and divide the value of the weapons among all of the group that fought the goblins yesterday.
Brandark will sell the equipment for 1/2 price totaling 323 Gp, and then later give all an equal share of the money. The pearls, and potions we will have to hash out. Just wondering if the Cure light was the potion the warchanter had
Kelvin Fleetwood |
"And I am Kelvin Fleetwood, scout and trap finder" he says while everyone one is introducing themselves. "Brandark, I also have some things that I got off the singing goblin. Some coins, potion and a bracelet. I am sure the potion is a minor curing one."
Kelvin nods to all the others, "let us Ameiko up on her offer of free lodging for the week." Then he tells the mayor, "I for one will be around for a while." He looks to the others, "you also?"
As he looks around at the others he thinks looks like a good bunch to have my back if those Ulfens show up.
That evening at the Inn, he adds the items to the growing pile of loot that the group has found, takes his share and says, "that bracelet is too pretty to just sell for some coins. May I hold on to it till we have it appraised?"
@DM - I am assuming that when you said the other clw potion you were referring to the one that Kelvin took off the warchanter and tasted.
Brandark Plainswalker |
Any issues with the sale of the goblins equipment? Needed to confirm before I remove it off of the treasure list.
Elektra Stardancer |
Please do so. No need for items like that.
After introductions are made Elektra will politly ask everyone of their abilities and what they learned before, making quick notes in a pocketbook.
Seeing Brandark return with a bag of gold she smiles. If scrolls weren´t so expensive She gladly accepts her share.
Zandu Sergeant of the Guard |
Day Two
Elektra soon after coming back in with Honeytrap is first to notices a Sergeant of the Guard rush in to the Rusty Dragon. The tavern area was starting to get busy with the morning breakfast. Brandark was gathering together the items from off the dead Goblins to take to the smithy and others to sell.
”I need to see the Heroes of Sandpoint,” he calls out, addressing the party as though they have a title. At this point in time, the party does not realize that in Sandpoint they now do.
”Sheriff Hemlock needs to see you right away at the Cathedral.”
To move game play, I will assume the party is now working as a team. Until which time the party may or may not designate a team leader, I will move gameplay forward when any three party members agree on the next action. Most of the time the choices are fairly obvious. If there are any objections to this idea, let's move it over to the discussion thread. And know that I am actually fine either way. Burnt Offering is not very sand boxy anyway.
@Brandark - Go ahead and take care of the small items from the Goblins. There will be a window during Day Two for this kind of activity. But in the mean time.....
Brandark Plainswalker |
Looks a little confused over the being called a hero. "Was that meant to be us?" indicating the group around the table. While continuing to put the goblin weapons and gear into a couple of sacks.
After gathering the equipment into the sacks for easy carrying, Brandark proceeds to the cathedral, to meet up with sheriff Hemlock.
When time permits, will get rid of the gear
Brandark later in the afternoon brings in several small pouches and gives 1 pouch to each. Inside each pouch is 92 gp, 66 sp, 80 cp.
"This is the shares of all the goblins equipment, not counting the braclet that kelvin is wearing, nor the pearls."
this can happen at the cathedral, or at the inn. Just wondering if the sheriff thing will interfere with my promise to assist with the burials.
Kelvin Fleetwood |
At the Sergeant calling out for "Heroes of Sandpoint", Kelvin at first looks around to see who he is talking to, then he inwardly groans when he realizes that the Sergeant means him and his companions. You are supposed to stay unnoticed he thinks to himself.
As Brandark responds, Kelvin tries to quietly stay in the background while the group troops up to the cathedral to meet the Sheriff.
Garrath Tricks the Giants |
Garrath barks out a laugh, "Heroes of Sandpoint? HA! So our legend grows already, my friends. The loresingers will tell tales of us yet, and we will know immortality! Garrath jumps to his feet, and looks to the soldier "Take us to this Sheriff."
Good Sheriff Hemlock |
At the Cathedral, Sheriff Hemlock sends the Sergeant back to guard the north wall, then more formally greets and introduces himself to the party. ”Thank you for coming. Your help yesterday was greatly needed and appreciated. How long do you plan on staying in Sandpoint?” The Sheriff asked quizzically.
The Sheriff continues, ”Father Zantus specifically insisted your presence. The largest crypt in the graveyard has been broken into; and there are sounds like something is inside, ” the Sheriff says leading the party toward the graveyard.
The next series of post are all related with several dice checks involved. I will go ahead and post all of the them together and wait until everyone has had a chance to respond. Thanks!
Good Sheriff Hemlock |
”Let’s go down and investigate,” the Good Sheriff says.
It is a very large crypt, the largest in what the locals call the “Boneyard.” The entry door is ajar. ”The crypt was sealed with iron straps,” Sheriff Hemlock points to where two wide iron straps lay on either side of the door.
Who goes first into the narrow crypt door and the darkness beyond?
Kelvin Fleetwood |
Untrained Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Untrained Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Kelvin studies the ground near the large crypt, and says to the group, "goblin tracks, and a larger humanoid." He looks at the others to see if someone else can offer more information on the tracks.
To Padre Zantus, "who or what was entombed here?"
After the Padre answers, he says to the others, "I should go in first, and then follow me in after a moment", and with no objections he stealthy starts to enter the crypt.
And probably gets his butt handed to him with that stealth roll! Yikes, a 2, 3, and 5 besides the 18. sigh
Padre Zantus |
Father Zantus, with a real sense of worry says, "That crypt was reserved for the honored dead of our community, including some of the founders; as well as, Father Ezekien Tobyn who was my predecessor. He was killed in the church fire that eventually lead to our building this new Cathedral." He glances back at the massive new stone structure.
Brandark Plainswalker |
sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Looks over at the sheriff "Would you be so kind as to watch out for these?"indicating the sacks of goblin gear that he was intending to sell.
Brandark looks at the group"Looks like there were 6 goblins and something larger. We should clear them out for the father"
With that, he hefts his sheild, and axe, and starts to make his way to the entrance of the crypt following about 10' behind the redoubtable scout.
If i were to try to stealth, it would sound like a boiler factory. :)
And of course the RNG will waste the 20's on these rolls and not combat for me.
