Garrath Tricks the Giants |

As the torch hits Garrath, he lets out a warcry, and a wicked smile crosses his face as the veins in his neck and arms stand out (rage), he roars in the face of the goblin (2) and swings his falchion.
Attack goblin 2: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 1 = 14
damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
at some point I'll roll over single digits....I hope. Also, when we attack, can we specify the creature by number. Mazra's been kind enough to number them for us :D. Especially for those at range, it's not always apparent which critter is being shot at.

Brandark Plainswalker |

Now that I am prone, I should be out of line of sight to the warchanter
Brandark, a little puzzled over the amount of laughter that he just suffered from, and realizing he is prone, attempts to swing at 1 again.
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 4 - 1 = 7
mods, Str, BAB, Flank, Hate, Prone, Power
Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 16
mods, Str, Size, Power, Hate
Really dice, single numbers again?
If I hit, goblin puree, but I cannot seem to hit

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Garrath swings again at the goblin that burned him.
attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 13
or not....random number generator my eye! :P

Brandark Plainswalker |

Garrath, give your dice to the gm :) this way we get ours back

Goblin Leader |

End of Round Six
Garrath through his rage misses the small nimble little creature.
Round Seven
The Warchanter moves around from the burning wagon to seize the opportunity, shooting an arrow at Lyr.
Warchanter attacks Lyr: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 101d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
But the shot sailed over Lyr's head.
GM now using player's dice.

GM Mazra |

The Goblin continues to try and set on fire the angry Shoanti man.
Goblin 2 attacks Garrath: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 81d2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
But just manages to fill the area with more smoke.
Elektra's arrow sails over the now prone Goblin.
The Goblin on the Female Human seeing fresh blood on its strange little sword, gets excited and swings again.
Goblin 3 attacks Lyr: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
But Lyr manages to back away from the blow. Lyr's Glaive begins to shimmer slightly.
Kelvin manages to render the prone Goblin (G1) unconscious and bleeding.
Kelvin, you were not aware that you hit the prone Goblin in the prior turn (round seven). You can take any move, swift or free actions in addition to your attack in Round Eight.
The prone Brandark missed his attack.
Garrath is finding hitting these little beasties challenging.
Start Round Eight

Goblin Leader |

As a reminder the Warchanter moves first in the round, so I will post her actions first.
Seeing the Female Human isolated from the other longshanks, the Warchanter continues to fire her short bow at Lyr.
Warchanter attacks Lyr: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 211d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
And manages to stick her with one of her arrows.
Lyr takes 2 points of damage in Round 8. GM gets back the hot dice.

Brandark Plainswalker |

Brandark, still flails wildly at the goblin while prone.
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 17
damage: 2d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4, 3) + 3 + 2 = 12
not power attacking goblin 1, if goblin 1 is dead or out cold before my turn, will stand up then attack the goblin 2 instead. In which case my numbers will not have the prone penalty.

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Garrath continues to try and hit these squirrely little runts,
attack gobin 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
confirm crit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
damage: 2d4 + 5 + 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2) + 5 + (2, 2) + 5 = 17
Garrath's rage drives his Falchion true

"Lyr" |

Way to go Garrath. You take those dice back!
Lyr steps up onto the steps, and swings her glaive at the goblin (G3), the blade leaving a streak of light as it passes through the air.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
+3 for Str, +1 Magic Weapon, +1 Higher Ground)
Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
+3 for Str, +1 for two-handed, +1 for magic weapon

Brandark Plainswalker |

Hold on lady lyr, we are breaking through to you.

GM Mazra |

Kelvin finishes off the Goblin he had been attacking.
The oversized Dwarf Brandark stands and calls out to Lyr, seeing a change in the circumstances.
Garrath settling down to focus on his quick little enemy, bears the full weight of his Falchion on the Goblins head and body, rending the foul little creature into a bloody heap.
Elektra moves to fire another Long Bow shot, but this time at the Goblin assaulting Lyr with a short bow. Her shot went wide.
Lyr injured and looking to finish off her enemy, slices down with a wide arching swing of her Glaive. It cuts into the menacing Goblin. The little creature falls.
The Magic Weapon and Higher Ground did it!

Goblin Leader |

The Warchanter noticing a shift in the tide of battle retreats back to the burning wagon. The strange little Goblin woman fires another arrow from her short bow at the Human Female with a Glaive.
Warchanter attacks Lyr: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 131d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The Warchanter not as steady as she had been was too quick on her bow string and the shot fell short of Lyr.
The wooden platform is starting to catch fire. It is then that you see a disheveled Mayor Deverin, her short hair sticking up all over, her face smudged, dust and dirt covering her once stately dress, working feverishly to heave dirt and sand on the fire. She thought she found refuge under the platform. Little did she know that a battle would erupt around her.
Round Nine

"Lyr" |

Lyr looks over at the Mayor, You lot finish off the other one. I'll get the Mayor! She begins to chant, Shelyn's water will provide. A few motions with her hand as she concentrates and water poors onto the fire. She then makes her way over to the Mayor, Are you okay?
Casting create water, focusing the water on Q16. Creates 2 gallons.

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Garrath sees that the elf who tried to help him in the earlier fight is squared off against the goblin who was screeching her horrible sounding song, and takes off at a run, moving swiftly 40' movement, gotta love it :D and skirting around the blazing cart to flank the enemy before swinging his Falchion in an arc trying to end the foul thing's life.
Attack Warchanter: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 28 bonuses, rage+flank
crit confirm: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 = 13
damage: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1) + 5 = 7

Brandark Plainswalker |

Seeing as the way it clear, Brandark walks past Elektra, and attacks the goblin in the main ally near the mayor and lyr.
"Stand still you overgrown son of an orc!!"
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 24
damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4, 6) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 16
How much longer on my enlarge?
confirmation: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 13
if successful: 4d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 6) + 12 = 26

Brandark Plainswalker |

I cannot reach the war chanter yet, and wasn't sure, so I guess that means that goblin was helpless for that attack. .. ouch, as my confirmation roll would then be 17 as that is prone

GM Mazra |

Seeing the Male Elf advance on her, the Warchanter drops her short bow, draws her little odd sword and attacks the threatening Elf.
Goblin Warchanter attacks Kelvin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 171d4 ⇒ 1
The now frightened female Goblin sliced in to Kelvin (1 big point of damage). Kelvin returns with a thrust that strikes true. Garrath comes up from behind and drops the Warchanter unconscious at his feet.
Brandark finishes off the Goblin laying near the platform.
The results of actions will end this encounter. I created a copy of the map, so Elektra can see final round actions.

![]() |

Father Zantus leads several acolytes out of the Cathedral, each carrying buckets of water to douse the wagon fire.
Mazra of Sandpoint is one of the acolytes, ”It looks like we get our bonfire anyway,” the brash young man quips.

Padre Zantus |

”Mazra! You and I will discuss this later,” an unamused Father Zantus says after he hears Mazra’s comment.
Mazra shrugs.
I like using Mazra of Sandpoint when I can. He is my character in a PBP Second Darkness campaign. In that campaign, I play him as though he witnessed much of the events in Sandpoint from the Rise of the Runelord, but was a little too young to be more involved.

The Honorable Mayor Deverin |

End of Round. End of Encounter.
Lyr Creates Water and puts out the fire on the wooden platform.
Mayor Deverin crawls out from under the platform, dusts herself off in a prim fashion, but to no avail. The unkempt Mayor reaches out to politely shake Lyr's hand, but then breaks down into tears, her head falling onto Lyr's right shoulder.

Kelvin Fleetwood |

Switching back to his bow, Kelvin looks around. "Dang goblin scratched me and ripped my shirt."
"That was still too easy. There has to be something else going on." That does not stop him from going around to the fallen goblins, starting with the warchanter, and looting the bodies, especially coins since he is flat broke.

"Lyr" |

That's really cool about Mazra of Sandpoint. I like the idea.
Lyr stands for a moment, unsure then puts her arms around the mayor, It's okay. It's okay. She comforts the woman, holding her until she can get her composure back. Lyr then looks around, Are many others injured? She presses her hand to her own wounds, then continues, I can help a little with the healing.
Lyr begins by gathering together those that helped her fight, Make sure none of the goblins are nearby, she warns. Lyr grabs her holy symbol--a small bird with a long, brightly painted tail--and concentrates for a moment. Energy washes over those nearby, healing their wounds.
If there are other injured in the immediate vicinity, Lyr will allow them to be inside the channel as well.
Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 4 3 left for the day.
As for your shirt, I'm sorry, my magic can do nothing. She shakes her head, fingering the slice in her own shirt.

"Lyr" |

As the elf begins to loot the bodies, she follows him, but instead of looking for valuables, she simply looks at each corpse she finds. Finally, after she's looked at each body in the Cathedral, she begins to sing.
Perform (Sing): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Her voice is shaky, and a little off key in several places, but the words flow together well. She sings a bit about each goblin, even including Podthickle. She sings about the dog and the sudden ends of the festival. Finally, the song ends. Lyr closes her eyes and mutters a small prayer.
Now, she says, popping out of her reverie, I don't believe we've all met. I am Lyraylamora--better known as Lyr--cleric of the goddess Shelyn, from Nybor.

Elektra Stardancer |

Moving closer Elektra waves her hand over the shirt and the blood and the dirt vanishes. Only a gash remains."I will be able to mend that tomorrow. Pray remind me. About the easy. Well, the goblinoids of the lowest order, called the common goblin, or goblinus dementus, are fairly disorganized and usually unable to work following a plan. But their birthrate still makes them very dangerous. Did you know they disallow reading. How stupid must be a society if it.... but I disgress. It is a shame they ruined your great feast. I am just happy that the damage was light!"

The Honorable Mayor Deverin |

The Mayor raises her head off Lyr’s shoulder with a long intake of air. A continence of composure slowly comes upon the Mayor, though betrayed by the unkempt hair and tears streaks over her dusty face.
With both hands she shakes Lyr’s hand with a gentle, ”Thank you”. Then looking towards the rest of the party, ”Thank you all. Your bravery this day will be known far and wide. I saw everything that you did,” she moves to stand besides Father Zantus. The kindly priest puts his arms around her.

GM Mazra |

The calm in the square is broken by the more distant sounds of swords clashing, the echoing calls of support from the Sandpoint Guard can be faintly heard. The glow of a fire can still be seen from the south.
Lyr moved away from injured Goblins and has healed 4 points to all needing healing. I will move your PCs to reflect this.
It is then that the sounds of a man screaming and a dog howling can be heard more nearby to the north in the direction of the White Deer and North Gates.
With a concerned expression upon her face, Mayor Deverin looks at the party.
Father Zantus also looks at the party, "Go. I will get the others inside."
Ameiko briefly has the urge to follow the party, but seeing the children and older Halfling Woman, she follows Father Zantus into the Cathedral.
To move along game play, I am assuming the Heroes will be heroic and follow the sounds of the screams. Additional maps and new initiatives to follow.

Kelvin Fleetwood |

Kelvin stows the coins and potion in his belt pouch.
As Lyr channels energy and heals the scratch, "Thank you Lady Lyraylamora for the healing and blessings of Shelyn. I am Kelven, a scout in service to my people near Celwynvian."
And as Elektra cleans the dirt and blood from his shirt, "that is so much easier than washing and sewing it up" and you can see that the shirt has several places where it has been ripped and sewn back. He listens intently to Elektra's didactic on the ecology of goblins until he hears the sounds of battle to the south, and the screams of a man to the north. "We can continue this conversation later, my lady." and he takes off, bow in hand to the north where they heard the screams. "More beasties I bet, let's go!" as he grins and takes off quickly.
@DM - How much coinage?

GM Mazra |

As the party rounds the corner, they arrive in time to see a dog whelp in pain, as a Goblin riding on what looks like a part-rat, part-dog, hairless animal, skewers it with a long makeshift looking lance.
A man screams and cowers behind a barrel as he sees the dog limp over.
Brandark Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Elektra Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Garrath Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Kelvin Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Lyr Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Goblin Commando Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Goblins Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
EDIT: The "Die, Dogs, Die" (AP name for the encounter) Map is not precise in location to the Sandpoint map. The White Deer would be the tip of the building to the Southwest corner of the map. The setup area I have chosen is more accommodating for the encounter.

Brandark Plainswalker |

Can I say that I was close enough to take part in that healing ?
Brandark grimaces and says "By Sarenrae's grace these foul things will be defeated"
Standard to allow all allies within 30' access to paired opportunist +4 (circumstance) to hit on attacks of opportunity for 3 rounds, move action, to draw axe, as I move up to the first goblin

Garrath Tricks the Giants |

Garrath laughs at the goblins, "You did say they were stupid. How many more must fall before they realize we six will NOT let this town be harmed today!"
Garrath charges into the fray, attacking the goblin atop the dog with his falchion.
attack goblin 1: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 + 2 = 17 attack+charge+rage
damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10

Brandark Plainswalker |

Just so there is no confusion on what I did. Tactitian ability of this feat. As for the healing, I updated my character. Thank you.
Paired Opportunists (APG 166): Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you receive a +4 circumstance bonus on attacks of opportunity against creatures that you both threaten. Enemies that provoke attacks of opportunity from your ally also provoke attacks of opportunity from you so long as you threaten them.
