Helferick Darkhelm |

oops, that was me.

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

"This is why we don't split up. I will trust the others to find their way back. If they don't find us after exploring the next section of land."Hex 21"We will go searching. Helferick would we be able to pen and raise and breed them? If so we can come back for them and just leave it be for now."
If the others are not back after exploring both hexes we will back track looking for them.

Helferick Darkhelm |

"Sure, we could try. Big fella'd make good stock, if we can take him alive. Don't reckon he'd come quietly though, boar are grumpy enough when they're small, and this one's probably used to bossing the others about."

Koldur of the Axe |

K.Nature 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
"Boars leave fresh kill?" Koldur remarks.
"That elf has taken a really long time, though he's skilled he's with those less skilled then he is...." Koldur marks the tree with his smaller axe.
"With this mark, he should know where to catch us else we will have to spend some time looking for him."

Halseen Surtova |

"On that subject what is this mark?"
GM Halseen spell crafted it earlier.
"It seems logical to go after the boar once there is a place to put them and people to mind them. I know it may sound barbaric but it may be better to kill them if they pose a danger. Boar are not domestic pigs. Many are far to dangerous for farmers to take care of."

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

"Pigs are pigs, it was just a thought. I know little about nature. If it proves to dangerous and they are proving to be a bother then yes we will slay them or drive them away."

Jevar T'soryn |

Jevar pulls up his steed and looks around. "I'd wager we can probably herd the boars if I can get to them before they start getting pelted with arrows and spears...but I'm not so sure about the big old brute. It'd take a miracle." he said scratching the back of his head.
He smiled "Surprisingly, animals tend to enjoy my voice more so than sentients. maybe they feel a kinship." he said chuckling. "This can...go horribly wrong though? Perhaps we should prepare to take care of the beasts when they begin mauling me?"
He approached the carefully.
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 +2 if you would consider Patient Optimist to work on this as well?
"Easy there piggies. Don't worry, old Jevar ain't gonna hurt yah. But you hurt old Jevar and we're gonna have bacon. This is really not smart of him...but the life of a herd animal is better than the wild...except when we eat you. Though, I guess we eat you as wild animals too huh there nice little boars." he said feeling a bit foolish but optimistic.

GM Wolf |

"On that subject what is this mark?"
GM Halseen spell crafted it earlier.
Sorry I must have missed it or forgot... assuming you can see the 6th level spell: geas.
Before we get to the boars, what do the rest of you do?

Helferick Darkhelm |

Once it is decided to either hunt or attempt to tame the boars, Helferick casts Mage Armor on himself.
--
As Jevar attempts to calm the boar, Helferick grasps his axe and watches the surrounding forest carefully. These three boar definitely weren't responsible for the huge prints - so where was the one that was?

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

So it looks like we don't have my husband as he has not posted in some time. My feats were built to fight along with him so I need to redo my feats. Wont worry about it for this fight. Also the 6 months were taking assuming a husband. The good of this is He can be kept as and NPC that stays in the settlement as the current Baron. GM you cool if I change up my feats since I don't have my raging buddy kind of gives me 2 dead 2 feats :(, won't change till after this battle.
Round 1
I don't have ability to move my token. I have enough movement to make it behind Jevar. Will move and ready to attack a creature that comes into threat.

Koldur of the Axe |

With a Swish Koldur is off with axes in hand! The old dwarf seems energized as his feet brings him closer to the on charging boar.
"Finally, a fight!"

Halseen Surtova |

Halseen moves to get a line of sight on the direction from which the boar is coming, keeping his a cat in front of him.
He prepares to cast DC 16 shadow trap.
Trigger: When the boar is 5ft away from an ally. This should keep it out of range of attacking but let everyone step up to attack it easily.

Jevar T'soryn |

Readied action to brace his Nodachi for a charge from the boar.: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage if successful: 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (8, 6) + 8 = 22

GM Wolf |

The back of this horse-sized boar rises in a steep slope. Its tiny red eyes are crusted with filth and its bristly flank crawls with flies. It rushes forward still mid charge it is 15 feet from Jevar, Johanna, and Halseen.
It is a fearsome force indeed being 10 feet long and 7 feet tall at the shoulder. The other boars flee away from the giant of a boar.

Helferick Darkhelm |

"Sheesh, it's even bigger than I imagined! Well, two can play at that game."
The runes on his waraxe shimmer as Helferick thrusts it in the air, then the dwarf starts to grow, expanding up to the size of the boar.
Cast Enlarge Person

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

Johanna takes not of Jevar's tactic.
"Hold the line."
She stays in place readying to attack once the thing comes in reach.
Readied Attack assuming it charges: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Halseen Surtova |

Halseen reaches out toward Johanna's blade with finger filled with magic."May I?
If she says yes he casts Dazzing Blade DC 16 Will
"Try to hit before everyone else.'

GM Wolf |

Round 2
The giant boar charges in but with some arcane words from Halseen the boar becomes entangled and can only move after being stopped, the others flee! Jevar's braced attack is foiled. Johanna strikes out hitting the boar with a large bloody wound left behind
Will save to shadow trap: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Will save to Dazzing blade: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Link is not working...
Halseen uses his readied action, for the round. Koldur, Helferick, and Jevar your actions please.

Jevar T'soryn |

Jevar let's the weapon drop harmlessly and pulls his bow. He studies quickly and fires two arrows.
Longbow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Damage if hit: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Rapid shot: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Damage if hit: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Confirm?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage added if confirmed: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2) + 10 = 13

Helferick Darkhelm |

Rage, enlarged, power attack waraxe : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
confirm crit : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
damage: 2d8 + 13 ⇒ (3, 4) + 13 = 20
extra crit damage : 4d8 + 26 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 3) + 26 = 41
61 damage. O_O That seemed to have worked.
Helferick stomps over to the boar, shouldering past a tree with a scowl, then swings his waraxe into the beast's back with a furious roar.
"Graargh!! Down beast!"

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

Well 2 crit's from x3 weapons will sway things quickly :)
"Is it over?"

Koldur of the Axe |

Pretty much and you're were enlarged too.
Koldur stops seeing the large dwarf that is one of his companion slam his axe onto the boar's head.

GM Wolf |

Jevar hits one of the boar's eyes but to 'one up' his critical the enlarge dwarf cleanly beheads the giant boar.
It had 60 hp technically... OVERKILL!!!!
Gold begins to fall from the sky for several seconds then stops. A chest appears besides the boar's body, within you find a book that is titled, "Overkill Achievement!"
Welcome to the wonderful works of the First World. Only Helferick Darkhelm can gain benefits from reading this book.
The continues to outline what possible options you have in great detail but to simplify it:
You may now take one of three routes:
1) Gain gold, more showers of gold or better loot.
2) Gain bonuses, generic bonuses that happen when you make a critical in battle and only last for that battle.
3) Gain power, get a choice of one martial feat and a +1 to one ability score.
There is a spear, or javelin I am not sure not around my book right now, lodged in the hide of the boar.
Taking an hour to scour the ground to collect all the gold coins you find 5,938 gp in total. Also a red gem that is cut to reflect light perfectly and the image of a boar is within it.
In that hour the other boars return timid. Looking closely you can see that these boars are just piglets... dire boar piglets... ;)

Jevar T'soryn |

Jevar looks extremely confused by the sudden...awkward situation of gold and sudden chest.
He turns as he hears the sounds of snuffling piglets and spies that the three boars are back.
He slings his bow and ties back on his nodachi before going back up to them and continuing to try to domesticate them.
"Young enough...give it three or four years and we might be able to start a small population of them for herding." he says smiling a bit.
"They'd be heartier than pigs and could certainly produce more meat." he said as he attempted to touch one of them.

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur looks up.
Then Around.
And up again.
"They say the gods above are too busy to notice every aspect of the mortals beneath them.....I'd say that some of them are a tad too free...."

Helferick Darkhelm |

"That was.. odd." Helferick said, looking up at the sky in amazement. "I've had lucky hits before, but never quite got that reaction."
Kicking the mysterious chest open, he pulls out the book.
na na na naaaaa
"Hmm.. I feel as though there's power in the book - I'll have to study it carefully." he says, leafing briefly through its pages.

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

Johanna approaches each.
"Well done." After taking the situation in and looking around.
"So these are dire boar, they will grow large like this one, maybe not quite as big, but big enough for war. We can breed them for many purposes. War, food, labor. We need to take these back as I fear the won't survive without their mother there. We can search for the others as we move back through. This gives us a second reason to backtrack. Better to do now while not far out."

Koldur of the Axe |

Koldur ignores the rest as they congratulate each other.
Survival 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
"Ummm....Flank, Loin..Is this part called sirloin? Rib eye? Never mind, making this cut here ....."
He's hard at work..

Koldur of the Axe |

Making the necessary adjustments, Koldur slices off the aforementioned meat and makes sure to salt it well and sun it.

Helferick Darkhelm |

"Should take the piglets back, I guess. They'll just slow us down otherwise. Plus, if we want to find the others, best to track 'em from where we parted ways."

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

"Not that I'm aware. Yes let us return and find our friends and get these things cared for."

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

Johanna take the lead heading home with the piglets. They will then set back out retracing their steps to where they parted with there companions and follow their trail.

Halseen Surtova |

Is this altruism; a love of animals; do they see the value in three pigs, who are likely related so there are no breeding pairs. Am I too cold or are they naive?
Halseen follows back to the keep. Using Keep Watch any evening with whoever wants to keep watch.

GM Wolf |

Guiding the pigs back the way you came for the day getting back to where you separated with your group. As you setup your camp Jevar seems a bit fidgety.

Jevar T'soryn |

Jevar looks at his hand a bit awkwardly and is running his fingers over the mark trying to follow it's movements. He scratches his head a bit and then looks mildly alarmed when he hears someone speak to him that isn't there.
He simply answers outloud a bit confused "We're on our way there now? We had to make a small detour and bring some supplies back to hopefully start a herd of dire boars. There was a right large nasty one that tried to kill us amongst them." he said hoping that everything worked out.
He looked at Halseen and shrugged "Just the mark burning a bit, almost like it was wriggling under the skin." he said scratching the back of his head. Magic wasn't something he really had a good knack for beyond what little his heritage provided.

GM Wolf |

4d20 ⇒ (5, 12, 1, 7) = 25 loosely following the other part of your groups' tracks, it takes the better part of the morning to travel into the next 'Hex' with the piglets. You find Sable lying with his stomach on an anvil with his back exposed. Olivira is bringing over a piping hot brand towards him. Hundor seems to be training hard with Sable's blade hacking at a stump with better precision. Several tents have been erected. The wooden baricades still stand protecting the camp. Only three ways to easily enter.
