Okay folks time to spread your wings and fly! All messages have been sent out and you have been told to meet at the Dwarven Outpost formerly known as Oleg's. Make your introductions in gameplay! Oh and the outpost looks like a dwarven fort now.
I cant remember the name! Special Bonus to whoever finds it before me! It is a clan of dwarves, that is all I can remember.
Rai how would you like a heavy horse instead? Or if that is not your style if you could upgrade the CR by 1, what would it be?
Just to get this straight, what does raising the CR by 1 entail? Does it mean that I get a variant of a Combat Trained Light Horse via a template, or do can I pick another animal entirely that has the same CR as that horse +1?

Koldur of the Axe |

A horse.

Seraphina Medvyed |

Yay! Play-time! I will get my post up later today.
So no Oleg and Svetlana, bummer. Should Kesten Garess be there?

Ingvarr Battlecaller |

Ingvarr has a combat trained light horse. He does, however, have pretty good skill with training animals himself, so he probably combat trained it himself (still paid full price as part of character creation).

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

Tiger. It will remain the CR 4 trained Tiger until level 7. So my 7th level feat will be boon companion and my Tiger will become a warcat paladin mount if that's cool.

Sylvester Asimov |

A story, eh? Did I tell you about the time I headbutted a ghost? Well I wanted to get the drop on him so I climbed a big tree then, uhh... You know. I let gravity do it’s thing. What? I wanted the initiative bonus! Well let me tell you, it sure was an adrenaline rush! Sadly it came to an end when we met; forehead to forehead. I flattened him like an insta-bake ectoplasmic pancake. Instaheadache for me too...
Well that ghost did walk away dead, but I swear he came out of it a head shorter then he was tall yesterday!
Almost got him too! He was so very nearly headless Nick.
Honestly? For me, ya know I’m just glad I didn’t go right THROUGH him and eat dirt... Cuz afterwards I realized ya, that coulda happened... That woulda sucked...
Ya, so all that’s possible btw ^_^ even the foot shorter bit is legit! I can headbutt ghosts off trees so hard they shrink in the wash! >:D

Sylvester Asimov |

Hey folks what kind of mounts does everyone have?
@_@
Sandals.:,(

Rai Thydel |

Koldur +5 to your speed: 25feet as a move now!
Both sound good Rai, but I still can veto the new idea. Ha! I don't think that has happened very much!Hey folks what kind of mounts does everyone have?
Would it be okay if I took a unicorn as my mount, then? Frankly, I love these kinds of creatures, and the unicorn is basically the gish-class of mounts, kinda like my magus. If not, perhaps a CR 3 Light Horse (Combat Trained) using the Wishtouched template?
Edit: I realize that me not being female presents a bit of an issue, but if we have a common cause, it can be circumvented. Is there anything major harming the local ecosystem or something similar?

I am not sure whether I should be comforted or fearful of this post. Also, who be'est this in particular? I tried looking through your aliases, but there were way too many to find out who you are in this campaign.

Koldur of the Axe |

Let's see....
I can copy out several exerpts I guess.
The Counsel of Edges convenes many times over this crucial beginning month. The first meeting determining the roles of rulership. Another deciding on what kind of colony the counsel hopes it to be: Lawful or Chaotic, Good or Evil. Adding in new members from those they have met before and new allies: Olivira, Akiros, Kreig & Doam, Ernost Van'Dreick , Oscar Cray the III, Brother Henric, Jasrella Domas , Reknar, Lord Christian D'Elagante, Rognar Grimtooth, Balazar Unchained, Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair, or others...
As for Roles? Roughly as follows;
Duke Balazar and Duchess Johanna.
General: Sable
Diplomat: Olivra
High Priest: Oscar
Magister: Lady Jasrella
Marshall: Jevar
Royal Enforcer: Rognar
Warden: Koldur
Huntmaster: Ernest
Spymaster: Jevar
Allies:
Soothscale tribe (Kobolds)
Stone Hammer clan (Dwarves) Chief Morrel is the current Clan head.
NPC Modes;
I am Oscar Cray the III, Paladin and Sacred Servant of Abbadar.
I am Ernost Van'Dreick ranger, horse rangler, and all around scout for our exploring group.
Gratus waits until Olivira is done and speaks up as well, "I am willing to fit into any of the said positions if need be, my sword and axe are for the princess, Koldur and for this new budding nation!"
Halseen, Currently an administrator of the budding kingdom.
As for Charter?
Well now......

ROFL! Is that how a dwarven bris works? XD
Let's see....
I can copy out several exerpts I guess.
Awesome, thanks so much!
So basically, 80% the kingdom roles are filled by GMPCs, defunct PCs turned GMNPCs and even PCNPCs, oh and one returned PC.
Khorvian is Lawful Good Autocracy, but doesn't seem interested in displacing native residents who don't quite fit the Lawful Good ideology, unless they are war-like and cause problems with other citizens. Does that sound about right?
I know we are considered provisional by the Baroness and won't take on Rulership roles for awhile, but I noticed there may be an issue with moving us into kingdom roles... These NPCs have crazy high scores! The kingdom will actually lose bonuses to rely on our lowly 20's and 21's, lol!
Ah well, I'll have to get crafting and see if I shore up the difference! ^_~

GM Wolf |

Yes Johanna the boon companion warcat at 7th level is still fine.
Kesten Garess is there at the dwarven outpost. Helping out even though most of his men have died to zombies and bandits.
Sorry Rai you don't meet the requirements to have an unicorn as your mount: They universally shun all creatures except for good-aligned fey, good-aligned humanoid women, and the woodlands’ native animals.
I would be fine with the CR 3 Light Horse (Combat Trained) using the Wishtouched template.
Yup that's about right Seraphina!
Now I go check out Gameplay!

Rai Thydel |

ok, thanks for the verdict. Having a horse that can cast Faerie Fire is still pretty cool XD. Also, one question... do horses ever gain hit dice? Or is there a way to do so with a spell or item? Otherwise, Faerie Fire is the only spell-like ability it'll ever have.

Koldur of the Axe |

Animal Companions and familars gain hit dice.
On whether they gain additional abilities, up to GM really. Most examples I've seen is Faerie Dragon as an improved familar gaining additional spells as they gain more hd.

Vrog Skyreaver |

Is it a familiar, an animal companion, or just a pet?
If it's one of the two former, the place where you got the class feature from should determine how it advances (most like lke a wizard or druid, respectively). If it's the latter, about your only option would be to buy a more powerful one (barring any wacky shenanigans). You could probably work out something with Wolf where you can pay the different to get a bigger version oft eh same cat and say that you're feeding it and training it, but that would be between the two of you.

Rai Thydel |

None of the classes I'm taking a dip into have any option for a familiar or animal companion; he'd just be a mount. I guess my horse won't ever get Silence unless there's a wacky GM reward somewhere. Also, I only just realized I never put a Longbow on my character, gotta fix that.

Koldur of the Axe |

or take Leadership, Monstrous companion or one of those that grants animal companions/familars as a feat.

Rai Thydel |

or take Leadership, Monstrous companion or one of those that grants animal companions/familars as a feat.
ok, cool, that should probably do it! Don't know if you can make a horse into an animal companion, but I'll look into it. Also, I have now fixed my character sheet, it now includes a composite longbow with a +3 strength modifier.

Seraphina Medvyed |

So 22 days, do we need to pack enough rations for the entire trip or could we expect to hunt to supplement our food along the way?
Will also want to invest in some general crafting materials like bolts of cloth, leather, clay, etc in order to be able to craft some lesser wondrous items when she can scrape up 4 hours to work on crafting. Was thinking of things like the sleeves of many garments, quick runner's shirt, boots of the cat, cloak of resistance, etc. Stuff that sells for less than 1,000 and with a low caster level so I can easily craft it at an accelerated rate.
@GM Wolf, Will that work? Can I buy $X in crafting supplies and then I will have that gp's worth of general supplies for a variety of items without buying specific materials for each separate item?
@Party, Let me know if you have some requests!

Koldur of the Axe |

Cloak of resistance, Rings of protection or the the standard advenuuring gear needed?

Hunting will likely happen but that is an excellent in game question.
If you are planning on creating the Mastercraft base items with the appropriate craft checks that would be fine. It would also offset the cost since that is only applies to weapons and armor.
Yes that would work to buy $X in crafting supplies.

Sylvester Asimov |

So I am going to do an info dump here :P
I forgot how many small, little things all have to come together to make a character sheet work! I seriously underestimated it :/
That said, I am really dang close to the point where I can focus on the gameplay vs all these twiddly bits.
First big one! Syl has a Spell Storing AoMF, so I can have a fun and random spell stored inside it, then it's up to me to figure out a clever way to punch such a spell into existence.
Except... I can't cast spells XD So I am going to have to rely on trying to acquire random spells from people we meet (or other players) to charge it.
I expect hijinks to ensue >:)
2: Did a change of picture.
3: I reconfigured my sheet a bit, gave him a heavy horse (named Betsy) that used to be our farm horse, and his skills a bit so he can ride it around.
4: gave him Dwarven and Halfling as his bonus languages. Figured they were common enough.
5: using Qinggong archetype, I traded out the Monks Slow Fall ability for Burst of Adrenaline.
6: Kingdom role. I have not yet even looked into this :p
I will try to soon, but I figured it wasn't top priority right now :P
Also GM, you had asked us about magic items. Well my by far biggest Christmas item would be an Anchoring AoMF because that just seems like a load of fun (^_^) yet it comes out at 16,000gp so that's a distant dream. Still my #1 dream item tho!
Realistically, the Glowing Glove (2,000gp) would be a lot of fun for non-combat related hijinks.
As for the 500gp item, I have a few ideas :p
Maybe a pair of Bandages of Rapid Recovery (400gp)?
A handful of Stubborn Nails wouldn't go amiss.
An Animated Portrait of myself would be hilarious XD
Or just 500gp worth of miscellaneous potions would be great. :)

Sorry, not set up to craft weapons or armor, I am asking for the purpose of crafting Wondrous items. Typically you expend an amount of gold to craft a Wondrous class magical item. But the gold is actually meant to be spent on essential materials to craft said item. So for example, a cloak of resistance +1 would require cloth, maybe leather and metal fastenings. I'm asking if I can invest say 2,000 gold in somewhat "non-specific" supplies so I could potentially craft 4 cloaks of resistance while on the trail. Or, essentially, 2,000 gold in crafting resources to be used to craft whatever someone might request.

Hi! I can probably help you get that item, though I might need to craft in conjunction with someone to give it the Anchoring quality. I will also be saving to craft a 16k cost item, so I will need customers if I am to get there before 6th level. ^_^

Alembic |

Sylvester, if you can figure out what spell you want to store in your gauntlet and can get a pearl of power for that spell level, I'm happy to cast the spell (should I know it).

Sweet! That’s great to hear :)
Also fyi, I just might be able to help you craft that, but first I have to refresh up on the crafting rules a bit to make sure.Sylvester, if you can figure out what spell you want to store in your gauntlet and can get a pearl of power for that spell level, I'm happy to cast the spell (should I know it).
Well half the anticipated fun is trying to coax people into giving me random spells and then having to get creative on their usage. Ex, got a CLW? Welp time to punch the healing into someone!
Btw I don’t have to be the caster myself, someone else (or maybe you) can cast the magic into the ammy for me, then I can punch it into existence.Currently I have a Reduce Person charge in there. :p
So I guess it is time to take someone down a peg or two! -_^

Simply put yes. Buy the 2000 gold in crafting resources to be used to craft whatever someone might request.

GM Wolf |

Yes that is fine Alembic!
Missing a few players from Gameplay, at least haven't posted recently: Rai!!! Then next would be Ingvarr...
Anything else... questions?!? I hope we can get moving tomorrow! Maybe I get us moving... no, I want reactions to the dragon first and some more interactions first. No one interacted with the pretty lady?!
I am getting excited! Can't you tell?

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

an explosion of post. I have been posting less because well busy at work and games dying off. I'm reading through the gameplay now.

Rai Thydel |

Sorry, GM! Was having a bit of a crisis with my midterm for history, working on a gameplay post now. Got a lock on my horse, too!

GM Wolf |

I am sorry to hear about that crisis, I hope you got it all locked down! IRL comes first!
We are glad you have chimed in! Both Rai and Johanna!
I know it may feel we have a lot of players but this is Kingmaker. And always things happen, I expect two players to be gone before the next month. I hope to be pleasantly surprised! I am also doing my best to respond to all posts, if I miss yours let me know!
Best regards everyone and have fun!

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

I'm updating the map.
Wolf I would suggest we move back to the capital as we have been out a while. Looking back I don't think we ever progressed to month 2. I would allow for the 6 months I did to pass. In this time we will integrate the new players into their roles. I can then do Turn 7 and we can claim Oleg's (Dwarven Settlement). We can make our way back there to RP bringing them into the kingdom. We can then Explore from there. It would bring things together cohesively I think.
I would also like to train out my bloodrager level for Monk. Bloodrage hasn't really fit her. I think the original plan was to take eldritch heritage for orc bloodline and do amplified rage with Balazar but I can't remember.
Here is the kingdom sheet. It is done with the first 6 months. We did create a Huntmaster position which has an NPC in it if someone wants it. If you don't have the stats for a role bellow think of a position you would like and we can create it as we rule as a council.
These are the roles I have down.
Ruler Balazar & Johanna
Councilor Princess
General Sable Soren
Grand Diplomat Olivira
High Priest Oscar
Magister Halseen
Marshal Christian D'Elagante
Royal Enforcer Reknar
Spymaster Jevar
Treasurer Helferick
Warden Koldur
So open we have: Oscar, Halseen, Christian, Reknar, Jevar, Helferick. These are all PC's that turned NPC I believe. We have been gone a bit

Hadran, The Fallen |

Also I'm going to remove the red X's on the map for the hexes we have claimed. We will continue to use them for hexes that have been explored and then remove them when we claim the hexes.

Rai Thydel |

I would like to take either the Magister or Spymaster roles, preferably Magister, as it would mesh well with my character's backstory and general traits. Hopefully it won't be too detrimental, considering the crazy stats the NPCs have, from what I've looked at XD. Eventually, since they're still doing the kingdom rolls for the moment.

Alembic |

I will go into whatever roll I'm needed in. Let me look at the kingdom building rules and see what I would do well at.
If you were going to give me a role, it looks like treasurer or spymaster would fit me well,

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |

Will do. In a meeting with Adobe. Will post shortly.

Seraphina Medvyed |

So on the map, red x's indicate explored territory and yellow outlined hexes are those that the barony has claimed. Is that right?
I agree it should be simplest to use the Kingdom rolls which were previously established through month 6. We are only into the 2nd month so far? We will probably eat up some time travelling and exploring and then we'll have a better idea of everyone's strengths and goals, not to mention who is still with us, by then.
Reading over the campaign, this is what I surmised, the Princess is a hidden Rogarvia and it is she that has the Swordlord's support to overthrow Surtova and seize the Dragonscale throne. This nation is seeded to prop up her rule and establish her as Queen over Brevoy. There is also a mystical, blood-magic reason why a blood descendant of Choral the Conqueror must retake the Dragonscale throne. (Or at least that's what the Princess says.)
I know this has some variations from traditional Kingmaker, but just in general, it's usually better to explore the northernmost hexes first because they will hold lower CR threats. Venturing into the bottom half of the map will be the tougher threats and probably why you guys spent so long in that last tomb. Only mentioning this because it seemed pretty natural that we would start with the north hexes since we met up at the former Trading Post. Maybe less clear where we'll start if we accompany the caravan back down to the middle of the map. =D

Johanna "The Cat" Sinclair |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

The hexes in yellow will be the territories claimed after month 6. Month 7 we will claim Oleg's (Dwarves) hex. That's why I suggest after we figure out roles we go back there and negotiate/let the dwarves know we are absorbing them into the kingdom. We can then explore the northern tiles. We need those for the plains and more farmland too.

![]() |

I have not updated the map to what I have explored with Hundor and Olivira. I was planning on hitting a few sites we had not fully explored and then further South. Now we might do the opposite.
