Open to the possibility? Definitely yes. Vasilyan is looking for a wife, he's a follower of Erastil and doesn't have a family yet. What I was trying to say is that it wouldn't be wise to plan things ahead of time. I would like to see if things happen in game, and if it happens at all. This is far more interesting to me!


There are plans, and there are plans... Meaning, some things you can plan out, while others it's better to play out. I can plan on having my character being someone who could work together with Vasilyan, though that doesn't mean it actually will work out. For example if I were to make a CN dedicated worshiped Lamashtu then the possibility of things working out would be quite slim indeed (though don't worry, I won't do that).

So, I did some thinking about Eidolons. With this group it will be ok, as long as it doesn't have an AC and damage output significantly higher than the rest of the group. Depending on the stats, I may have to tweak some encounters, but otherwise I can adjust.

Making a Monster, Eidolon Style:
My negative experiences GMing an Eidolon are that with a few buffs they can easily have plate level AC on a second character that doesn't take resources to re-summon if it dies. At level 3, the eidolon can have a 21 AC, Pounce, etc. There are some encounters, as written, that are unable to hit the Eidolon's AC.

Additionally, the "15 minute adventuring day" that Kingmaker tends towards reduces the downside of being unable to summon your eidolon until the next day.

Anyway, now that I know the system better, I'm more prepared for running with a summoner.


Raven: Would you appreciate Enlarge Person? I know some players strongly dislike it due to the reduced AC, but it would provide a significant boost to damage as well as reach.

A few points about Smelax, Elvara:

(S?)he should actually have 11 hit points. Eidolons get maximum hit points first level. Secondly, Improved Unarmed Strike is not necessary to not provoke attacks of opportunity while using natural attacks.

In pfs they certainly don't. Though there is wide table variation in how much they get.

As for the feat, it's a prerequisite for improved grapple.

I'm not so sure I like this version of Surtovas...They're easily the worst people in the world, inclined to rape everyone they look at.

That's kinda the image I get when you follow the motto "Ours is the right." to the extreme. They are by lore incestous pirates that just recently claimed the crown in an opportune moment after the throne was suddenly left empty. Are they really all that much nicer in reality/normal lore? I can totally see how it can be too much though and I'm sorry if I overstepped my bounds. I thought it would be fitting with a dark start to a gritty game.

As for easily being the worst people in the world... Your character also beat up and took advantage of a woman sexually in your backstory before turning to Erastil. Is what they are doing so much worse?

Can I convince the snake to carry the eidolon? Taking 10 on handle animal with guidance would be 20.

I'm not totally satisfied by that introduction, but hopefully it's passable enough... It shows that she's able to be nice to people despite the horrible things she has gone through recently, but it doesn't do much to show how that awfulness has affected her...

I still got 200 or so gold that I can spend on something, though I don't know what might be worthwhile. Anyone got any good suggestions other than saving up for magical gear or a mithral breastplate? I should probably buy some provisions too eh?

Looking at your gear, I'd suggest some acid flasks (10 gp each). I just bought three of them, but they're pretty much mandatory against swarms.

Looking over my list of characters I'm currently playing:

- A character who got his whole country and most of his race obliterated in a catastrophic event
- Reformed mass murderer
- Rapevictim
- Someone forced to flee from her village together with her father only for her father to die

Most of them have some darkness in their past, Elvara would probably fall somewhere in the middle. I've played characters with cheery backgrounds in the past though...

I'll pick up a few acid flasks as well as provisions if it's not too late. Alchemist fire might be even better against swarms, it's 2d6 damage for 20 rather than 1d6 for 10, though it's less likely all goes through, but it'll also give the swarm less time to live.

For me, weekends are either incredibly busy or incredibly available. For PbP though I tend to treat them as non- days and I stagger combat so that it doesn't start until Sunday Night / Monday morning.

I'm guessing that Alexi is on Easter/spring break vacation and simply didn't inform us that he wouldn't post or that he was planning to post but ended up without access to the internet or something. Vacation periods are always tricky.

A couple things (and if I missed any, let me know!)

1. It's easier to have OOC discussion here. If nothing else, it makes Gameplay easier to read, and I don't have to OOC tag multiple blocks.
2. I'll add a Smexlana token, though feel free to change it to something that looks more like what you want.
3. A general rule of thumb is that if we're waiting on someone, I'll either Delay or GM NPC as appropriate after 24 hours. For Alexai, I'll do that at lunch and move things on if he hasn't responded.
4. Raven's surprise round action of "Close gates, Draw Sword" was too many actions. I don't want to bog down the combat with "what kind of an action is it to close a heavy gate and I also didn't realize that Raven was trying to hide behind one of the gates. How about let's go with "Raven can have her sword drawn, and closes one half of the gate in her Surprise round." Closing the other half will take another action.
5. In the eternal rule of RPGs bandit "leader" on this one is a bit weaker. They get more difficult ;)

Oh, yeah. He's "dead-dead". Is fighting like fishing, in that you're responsible for cleaning what you kill? Cause that's going to be a mess.

Elvara, you get to go again. The way I run group initiative, when there isn't any enemy that hasn't gone separating the party, the group gets lumped together. Imagine in this example that X and Z are party members, and Y are enemies:

The 'X' group goes first in a group initiative, then Y goes, then X and Z go at the same time. It does end with X getting to act one more time than Z, but reduces turn-around time.

Web goblins were particularly vindictive today. I'll give this conversation a bit more time then I'll move things ahead with Exploration! How you deal with the bandits here does set a bit of the tone going forward

So looks like we might need a replacement for Alexi? It seems like it probably wasn't Easter keeping him away after all. It's sad to see people disappear like this. I don't think continuing without anyone decent at healing will be very easy.

I hope paizo can manage to stabilize their site as well (add more servers? Get some ddos protection?) so Vasilyan can join us.

I'm looking into possible recruits. I'm loathe to post again in Recruitment, especially as it seems like people interested last year are dwindling.

Sadly, it looks like he hasn't made any posts for a couple of weeks :/

The charter doesn't mention anything about building up a settlement, though I do believe it's limited in area. However I'm fairly certain the bandit's camp falls within that area though. Is the charter in this game different from normal kingmaker?

You are right...I suppose it's implied that the exploration of the area is to eventually settle it to provide a buffer area for the kingdom, though.

I think they have implied that our exploration is to help bring order to the area for that eventuality, right?

If we can't find another person, one option could be that I switch Elvara over to the spirit summoner archtype and pick life spirit...

The charter in the original Kingmaker actually is incorrect; there's a mistake with the map orientation. The charter I used is the one that Mark Jacobs posted a while back.

Right now your job is exploration and dealing with the various threats of the Greenbelt. Settlement comes in "book 2"
