You can get a bit more info about the strange negative energy whirlpool you found, but it's intentionally a strange mystery.
There's a little more dialog that you can get out of from the woman, but it's mostly just exposition at this point. Juicy exposition.
I am somewhat worried that we lost the momentum we regained from my impromptu whirlwind trip, the humble server issues, and getting ready for my wife to fly out today.
I'm fully ready to switch into Kingmaker mode over the weekend (posting rules for Hexploration tonight so people can get up to speed and ask questions, starting Monday.) Is everyone still Alexai, Raven, Vasilyn, Vorsirion, are you all still in? If so, I'll recruit one more person to join in and we'll start with Kingmaker Monday.

I've been a tad disappointed by the posting rate of the game so far. I found that it's incredibly hard to stay in character when you don't have the chance to post at least 1/day everyday. On the one hand, I appreciate Wolfspirit GMing style and love the way he approaches several things, but on the other hand I have to admit that I feel a little bit disappointed by the slow rate at which the game has been progressing...It's not easy to find a definitive answer. I'll think about it in the next few days and let you know :)

Hope you feel better Vasilyn. I completely understand your disappointment in the progress so far; I share it myself more than anyone. It's been a comedy of errors of late. Anyway, I respect your decision either way.
(As an aside, has anyone else had extreme problems consistently being able to connect especially around lunch time (Central Time zone?) It's been horrendous since the Humble Bundle overall, but not being able to post during lunch has been a killer.)
In other news, I've been trying to (while web-goblins allow me) update the Campaign page for Kingmaker including the Stolen Lands Exploration and Hexploration links. Check out the maps and the rules I'll be using for Exploration. "Hexploration" has worked fairly well with the other group, so I'll think I'll stick with the numbers there for now.
Loot and Calendar are placeholders for when we get there. For everything else, if anyone has questions, let me know!

I don't think I'll catch up in the Gameplay Thread until we start Kingmaker though: I've been lagging behind for several days now due to my flu, and it's particulartly hard for me to catch up! Cool. If Vorsy wants to continue with our little scene, I'll be happy to RP it out under spoilers to keep the timeline moving forward. Meanwhile, Raven is going to purchase a masterwork version of Harbinger. A little quirk of Raven is that unlike most martial types, she isn't particularly attached to her weapons and armor, she simply views them as tools.
EDIT: Wolfspirit, I would suggest finding another arcane type rather than a tank. With the new breastplate and her high Constitution, Raven can easily handle the role of tank.
I think either would be fine. I certainly don't object to more meat between me and the enemy. :)
The original recruitment was actually incredibly low on arcane caster types. I'll look for one though.
Hi, I was contacted by Wolfspirit to join you on this adventure with an arcane caster. I greatly appreciate the vote of confidence. I'm open to make whatever the party needs, though of course I have some ideas of my own.
I saw there was some discussion about a tank or a caster. How about both a tank and a caster? Evan is a summoner who's pretty much ready to go. Though I think I'll change to a female character and probably change some of the backstory as a result. If people are concerned about the eidolon mechanically I could change to a master summoner. That would still give tankyness from all the summons.
Alternatively I could make something else if people would prefer to not deal with a summoner at all, a sorcerer perhaps?

Also, I've got things pretty well set for the journey to the Stolen Lands (mostly minor tweaks to what I've run before), so I can pull the trigger on that now, or allow the party to meet with their new party member.
Those that have departed will quietly be assumed to following different work.
Another side note: a couple of the encounters that were in the "Prologue" were meant to test the "gray morality", for example, the encounter with the children or the undead woman. I'm trying not to be too ham fisted with them, but I want to have some choices to the party that there isn't a right or wrong answer. You could have turned the woman in to the Pharasmites; technically that would have been the "correct" choice but not the "right" choice.
It's kind of a new experiment for me, so if anyone has feedback on that, let me know.
Again, let me know if anyone has questions about anything, and I'm looking forward to actually get this rolling for real. I have some devious plans.

Welcome to our new party member! We had an incredibly well-rounded party, then lost a tank and our only arcane caster. I think you are filling both those spots. Still, I think what you have suggested would be a good fit. Looking forward to meeting your character.

We are light on melee at the moment so the Summoner could work, as long as the Eidolon isn't the Whinny-beast of Death. Alternately, a sorcerer would work.
As for posting frequency, luckily I'm very prepared for the next book's work, so as long as everyone is up and engaged, we should have pretty frequent (1+ per day) as long as the group does.
Thinking about it, in the interest of moving forward I'll have the introduction of "New Party Member" occur at a halfway point in the travel to Oleg's Trading Post (where you'd have needed to stop anyway. That way people can have a chance to post something in the meantime while logistics are sorted out.

While Summoners are powerful, I'm having a bit trouble seeing how an eidolon could do so much. I would think it would be a bit worse than a fighter or barbarian of equal level (though with the advantage of coming back from the dead). I'm a bit hesitant to go through with it now... I don't want to end up causing a problem down the road :(. Summoner would fit the roles missing in the party perfectly though and I really like the class a lot. I'm considering picking wild-caller (the half-elf one, not the plant one) if I end up going for non-master summoner.
One idea I've wanted to play out for a long time is to eventually end up in the position of dual rulership. I don't want to force you to change your plans for my sake though. Are there anyone currently planning to fulfill the position of ruler? Vasilyan or Alexei perhaps? To accomplish this my character would have to end up in a relationship with one of you. Maybe other plans in this area stops this idea? Obviously they wouldn't start out with something going on, but maybe it could be possible to get there over the course of the adventure. If thing doesn't work out for one reason due to roleplay issues that would of course take precedence over trying to force this idea through.
Where can I find the character build rules? Are everyone still level 1?
Vasilyan was conceived to be a leader, yes. But I think that this is a matter that needs to be decided in character after all.
Well, as I said I'm probably switching to a female. Would you be open to potentially getting in a relationship with my character, pending what happens in gameplay? I see from your sheet that Vasilyan is hoping to find a wife. Do you have something already planned in that regard, with Raven perhaps?

Fair enough... However I believe it's still possible to answer my question. Would you be open to the possibility? I know some people dislike playing relationships. I you don't like it then playing it out is probably not a good idea. You've also played a bit with Raven already and the two of you share some background, is your relationship of the kind that could develop into a romantic one? I'm mainly concerned with not making you and Raven not feel as if I'm imposing on what you already got going on.
If you are open to it then we can see how things work out in-game. Either things work out or they won't. There are plenty of positions to fill if it doesn't work out.
Though it might be able to get there if you actually do want to end up there. Would you want to end up in such a relationship?
