Knowledge: Engineering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Diplomancy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Knowledge: Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Rolls for skills.
Arisl 'Know all the things' Tathmir. You made good use of those libraries I see.
Vasilyan Medvyed
Okay, I finally have some time to read through your backstories and think to possible ties. Also, will post my background knowledge rolls in a few hours.
Raven Sirkas
I guess I could make Diplomacy... (not trained in any knowledges...)
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Vasilyan Medvyed
These are my rolls for background info.
________________________
Diplomacy to gather information (if allowed): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Knowledge (nobility): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Arisl'arial Tathmir
She's built to have knowledge skills and a bit of arcane power, and that's about it. XD

Okay, I finished my character background, which is in my profile. If anyone aside from Arisl would like to have any connection, let me know.
Arisl, we had discussed having met in Ustalav. However, I'd prefer if we could have met in the River Kingdoms (I see you made it there).
My character could have met you there before as a diplomat. I would like someone to have known me "before." You will see what I mean when you read my background.

*Mischievous eye twinkle* Maybe Vorsirion had a dalliance with a human barmaid in Restov a while back... Say, 21 years ago...
Arisl'arial Tathmir
I for one think that'd be really cool to have Vorsirion be Raven's dad. Just my opinion.
As for our relationship, I could do something with you in the River Kingdoms just fine, if you'd prefer.
Vorsirion the Revenant
|
My first reaction was to say it wasn't me...then I saw we both have auburn hair. It does fit in with the beginning of my story, I suppose.
But I'm not sure you've read my background. You may want to reconsider having me for a dad.
Alexei Robertovich
I also think a Raven/Vorsirion connection could be interesting, speaking as the peanut gallery.
I'm curious to see how a devote Pharasmin, Arisl, and a necromancer, Vorsirion, get along, especially if they knew each other before.
Raven, since they both grew up in Restov, Alexei is another possible connection. I kind of like the idea of them having known each other when they were younger and reconnecting now. What do you think?
Lucius, sorry for misunderstanding.
Vorsirion the Revenant

Not to mention a current paladin and future paladin in the party!
I should say that my character's natural inclinations are chaotic good after the manner of most elves, and that his inclinations toward necromancy and the occult are not entirely his own. Though he gas some "issues" I think we will get along splendidly. ;p
Vorsirion the Revenant
|
Also, since I'm looking like the skills guy and lacked stealth, I changed out a trait to add that as a class skill.
I should be able to function as a proper rogue now.
Raven Sirkas
Yeah, Vorsirion, I read your backstory. I think it may be interesting to play it out. Maybe having a daughter can help Vorsirion resist Vaarkalikax and Countess? That could be an interesting bit of character development.

Being excited for this to begin and a bit on the obsessive side, here's a better breakdown of the party roles, including skills. We should have a pretty good mix of melee vs. ranged, and skills look pretty solid. Any holes we need to fill?
Tank:
Lucius, Human Fighter (survival, physical skills)
Melee Striker:
Raven, Half-Elf Slayer (survival, physical skills)
Ranged Striker:
Vasilyan, Human Paladin (diplomacy, intimidate)
Divine (support caster):
Alexei, Human Cleric - Mystic Theurge? (diplomacy, religion)
Arcane (blaster? summoning?):
Arisl'arial, Elf Arcanist (arcana, dungeoneering, local, nature)
Skills:
Elf Occultist (arcana, religion, planes, stealth, disable device, UMD, others)
Arisl'arial Tathmir
I think I'll be going with a summoning build, probably with a bit of blasting on the side as support.
Vorsirion the Revenant
|
I think that sounds like a good fit. I'll have a little summoning ability (a skeleton), but it won't be as versatile. I think some extra blasting and summoning will fit great.
Alexei Robertovich
Nice summary Vorsirion. Looks like we have a primary and secondary for almost everything.

Yup, going to be an interesting mix of personalities by the looks of it... though I don't intend Lucius to be one of the Lawful Stupid kind of Paladin.
Sorry for the radio silence, was out with my table top group last night.
Raven Sirkas
Well, I think we're all pretty much ready!

Lucius, did you make a Knowledge Engineering?
Also, just making sure, but did everyone do their Background Skills? I'm working on finishing up the background info now
Arisl'arial Tathmir
I'm going to take Profession (librarian) and Craft (jewelry). Shouldn't have an impact on my background info.
Vasilyan Medvyed
My background skills are noted in my character's sheet.
@GM: Could I have an answer to my earlier question? That would allow me to complete Vasilyan's sheet once and for all :D
@GM: Do you think that the child of nature trait from Inner Sea God would be appropriate? The trait was originally designed for Gozreh faithful I believe, but it makes sense for Erastil as well in my opinion.
Inner Sea Gods wrote:The wild places are your home, and provide everything you need to be happy.Vasilyan has spent a lot of time with a dryad in his youth, and has also spent eight years in the Narlmarches as a bandit. Of course, feel free to deny me the access to the trait; I'll find something else for sure ;)
My only concern is that the "bandit" trait is very fitting for Vasilyan as well, not to mention the "noble born (Medvyed)" trait.
I'm considering the idea to replace my Rapid Shot feat at 1st level for Additional Traits in order to add child of nature to Vasilyan's traits without giving up on the "bandit" trait.

I added background skills, and picked up a rank of Linguistics (Necril) and Knowledge: History, which both seemed appropriate.
Raven Sirkas
Background skills are done. Raven chose Profession (soldier) and Lore (tactics).
Wolfspirit
My background skills are noted in my character's sheet.

Sorry, missed that. You can take that as a follower of Erastil.

I sent out Background info for everyone except Arisl, who is getting a bit of an information dump. I also have a rough intro that I've cobbled together and will post tonight, along with Arisl's info.
(Yay for spending ~7 hours dealing with car stuff...)
Raven Sirkas
Background updated with new info.
Raven Sirkas
Hmmm...was the background info sent via PM? I didn't see anything.
Yeah, it was.
Arisl'arial Tathmir
Mine would be an infodump. Sorry.
Vasilyan Medvyed
Thank you for the info GM!

What part of Utah? I just finished up at BYU last spring.

Oh man... I miss the mountains so much! Texas has a lot going for it, but it's so... flat. I feel lost with my north/south ridges.
I'm down by 35 and 635 in Farmers Branch/Carrollton. I was looking at some apartments in the Allen area, but wanted something closer to work. No freeway commutes for this desk jockey anymore!

Central time zone here. I have three main time windows that I post in: before 8:00AM, around Noon, and after work, though I'm online pretty much always.
Also, I used to live in Austin, but now I'm in Tennesee (Nashville area).

Many Bothans died to bring Arisl their Background Info.
Ok, with all that out of the way, I'm posting the intro in the Gameplay thread! I'd been working on individual plot hooks for everyone, but 1) I'm not familiar enough with everyone's characters enough yet to pull it off as well as I'd like and 2) I'd rather get things rolling sooner rather than latter. Feel free to invent a suitibable hook that would have your character accept a cryptic summons to a dockside tavern, there was something in the offer that appealed to your character.
Also, posts are something I've used before to break up huge blocks of text that really don't interact with the plot. Respond to as many as you'd like, and post an introduction!
If anyone has any questions about the plot or setting, let me know.
Arisl'arial Tathmir
I appreciate the Bothans that died to bring me that info.
I'm currently located in Montrose, Colorado. If you think you've got mountains in the Salt Lake region...this is about 30 minutes from home.
Lucius Baradain
Lucius, did you make a Knowledge Engineering?
No I didn't, my bad! See below:
Knowledge Engineering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
As for my background skills, it would make most sense if I went with Knowledge Engineering and Profession (Soldier) since they actually are part of my background story.
Raven Sirkas
Vasilyan would know that Raven is generally not nearly as warm as she's acting right now, even after seeing an old friend.
Vasilyan Medvyed
Since I don't want to flood the Gameplay Thread with our own individual scene, Raven, I would like to let you know that Vasilyan has agreed on your plan :D
Raven Sirkas
Cool.

"an elf who looks like he's hearing voices"
Okay, so I wanted to make sure we're all on the same page as far as what our characters' thoughts are and what is known about them (this is in response to Raven's comment quoted above).
I'd like to give everyone a taste of what is happening in Vorsirion's head, since it's a huge part of his story. I think I'll likely have more thoughts to post than is typical. I also recognize my initial post had plenty of background, which was intended to give you a flavor of what is to come and what Vorsirion's dealing with.
However, I'm not sure what your character saw that would make it look like I'm hearing voices. I've said almost nothing and had just a few tiny visual clues that I'm having any kind of mental trauma.
Would it be helpful if I put any mental stuff in spoiler tags, and people can read that if they want to, but otherwise can skip it and just see what I intend for characters to see? Traditionally, thoughts have been italicized, but I did do some additional background that wasn't.
I would just like to be able to share thoughts and background without everyone's character knowing exactly what's in Vorsirion's head. :)
Raven Sirkas
I said that because Vorsirion looks pretty crazy, and hearing voices is a common symptom of being pretty crazy. Raven has above-average INT and WIS, a really good Perception, and I'm fairly certain Vaarkalikax's skull is clearly visible.
