my strategy is to bomb it until it is staggered and hope it fails its impressive fort save! lol


Ranged is definitely the way to go with anything that has reach... Not really a good option for most of you right now. But something to consider, at least have a bow handy. I've certainly been stuck in battle before against a flying enemy where I have twiddled my thumbs and been mad at the GM when it was my fault.

back at the trading post, ready to divy up some spoils. I suppose we could do it in character, but for now as I limp into the end of the school year, I'm just looking to get things done!

Here is a list of things we could sell for GP...unless someone claims them first or has an idea of what to do with them. Let me know or I'll sell them before we head out again.

8 bottles of liquor (not sure what can be done with them exact to drink them...)

1 potion of undetermined contents (and since I'm not tracking the details, I don't remember where/when we got that one.)

Meanwhile, my records indicate we have 2146 gold right now, which means we'll give everyone 350 and keep the rest in party reserve.

Making acid to start for 1/3 cost so making acid DC 15.

alchemy 8: 10d20 ⇒ (6, 3, 20, 3, 15, 9, 15, 4, 3, 8) = 86

So I make 5 and five no progress.

In Pathfinder play locale we allow for purchase at 1/3 price between games if you have the craft. However I understand my class and advantages have to have cost time disadvantage

alchemy 8: 10d20 ⇒ (2, 4, 19, 8, 6, 13, 10, 9, 5, 4) = 80

That would be 10 in two weeks at 1/3 cost with 10 more at no progress and no fails above 5 for additional cost

alchemy 8: 10d20 ⇒ (9, 14, 13, 3, 19, 13, 12, 8, 4, 9) = 104
This is finishing those 10.

So three weeks for 18 acid and two no progress. Not bad.

So 200 gold for alchemist lab, 10 gold per acid 200 divided by 3 is 67 gold rounded up out of my share.


Crafting is not something I have done much of in the past. So I am going to have to revisit some rules, but generally speaking I am in favor of simplicity. So give me a little time and I am going to roll out crafting rules that are a mix of RAW and homebrew. At least for starters, it won't be 1/3 cost, it will certainly be 1/2 cost, Rai. But hold onto that a bit. I'll think about it tonight.

Yes, you can order MW stuff. Not magical. You probably can't afford it yet anyway.

Our crafting rules for this campaign. It is pretty vanilla, but I added a few things and simplified a few things. I put this whole spoiler into the Campaign tab for future reference.

Crafting GM Mustache style:

1. Generally speaking you can accomplish 1000 gold base price per day if you craft while adventuring. Only one item per day can be made! (You can craft three scrolls or three potions as long as the base price <=1000).

2. If you dedicating an entire day to crafting, get 2000 gold accomplished. (You can craft six scrolls or six potions in a day as long as the base price <=2000).

3. Player spends 50% of the full cost of the item (or when upgrading, 50% of the difference between the base item and final price of the upgraded item)

4. Have the proper feats and proper spells needed. A scroll of the needed spell is fine. (usually just google search the item you want to figure this out)

5. Make the proper crafting or spellcraft check. If making multiple potions or scrolls, make multiple checks. A natural one on the roll does not equal auto fail nor does a natural 20 equal autosuccess.
You can choose to take a 10 on this check, or roll for it.

6. If you roll for it:
If you fail by greater than 10, the error causes you to lose all gold you spent and you can choose to try again.

If you fail by less than 10, you lose half the gold you spent and you can choose to try again.

If you succeed, item is created successfully.

If you succeed by greater than 10, roll a d100. Getting a >90 means the item was created masterfully and the GM will add some type of bonus to the item. Not applicable to consumables.

7. Example. Crafter wants to create a ring or protection +1. Base cost is 2000. Since he is adventuring at the moment and just spends time here and there crafting, it takes 2 days to make. He pays 1000 gold. He has the forge ring feat, and has the ability to cast shield of faith. He makes a spell craft check against DC 6 and gets a 20. Since he beat the DC by 10, he rolls a d100 and gets 95. The GM adds a special quality to the ring as it is a masterful creation!

A note about DC's:

The trickiest thing about the process is figuring out the right DC.

For most items, the DC is 5+the caster level of the item. For some items, you can find the DC by searching online. When in doubt, ask GM for help.

Here are some costs and DCs associated with adding +1's and 2's to armor and weapons

For simple armor and weapons, in terms of price, upgrades only cost the difference.
+1 = CL 3 DC8 weapon cost: 1000 armor cost:550
+2 = CL 6 DC11 weapon cost: 4000 armor cost:2500
+3 = CL 9 DC14 weapon cost: 9000 armor cost:4500
+4= CL12 DC 17 weapon cost: 16000 armor cost:8000
+5= CL15 DC 20 weapon cost: 25000 armor cost:12500

So Rai, you can repeat your crafting as if we will stay here for 4 days.

If you dedicate yourself to crafting each day, you can make 6 potions/flasks of acid vials per day.

You could take a 10 and create 24 of the acid vials in 4 days.

Base cost is 10 each, so you pay 5 per. 5*24 = a hefty 120 gold total.

Make sure you subtract the gold from the spreadsheet yourself.

Do we have the money/option of splitting the cost of a want of CLW yet? My suspicion is that it's something we'd have to order from Oleg and pay the next time we're back.

Do we want to put that order in before we take off?

Been 6 days for Brokk'r, 4 for Ike. Remember when you agreed to come on the game, it was a post a day at least. If you are on vacation or something or work is busy, that is cool and excusable, but you have to let the group know ahead of time.

oh good question! as a player, i'd want to keep something so potentially powerful/dangerous with us, but i'm not sure Brokk'r would have thought twice about it in his own. if someone brought it up, though, he would have suggested taking it with them to avoid someone showing up at Oleg's looking for it.

Just so I make sure I'm keeping the OOC and IC separate, I know that the kobolds probably wouldn't have been wanting to talk... but Ike is (or was) still clinging to a naive optimistic hope that if he can mimic another race and get them to listen, he can end things peacefully. The bandits are one thing, they're clearly all jerks, but other creatures are a different story. In Ike's (admittedly still developing) mind, this is like blending in with any other village. The Stolen Lands are homes to a lot of things, some good, some mean, but fitting in peacefully is all he's really known. And when his cover gets blown, he just runs.

So Ike's aversion to the group right now is not a reflection of me as a player. If anything, I'm thoroughly enjoying the chance to delve deep into Ike's psyche. Ike is, hilariously, only just now realizing how different he is from everyone else in the group, both biologically and mentally, and it both upsets and depresses him. Right now, he sees himself just like he thinks the party sees the kobolds: monsters that eventually will, and must, be destroyed. And Ike believes he is in that same category, which hurts because he saw the party as the first real, genuine friends he's had in... ever, honestly.

I just wanted to make sure that Ike's depression and distant demeanor is not what I as a player am expressing. I'm sure everyone was already aware, I just wanted to be extra sure, because I know Ike is acting a bit despondent at the moment. I know with just text, it's a little hard to convey intention at times. X)


I won't always allows Rai/Arlen/whoever to just rush into battle because they happen to post first. In a tabletop game, Ike might have stopped Rai from doing that to give his idea a shot. But because Ike had previously used his sneaking ability on kobolds, and got to do quite a bit of talking on the bandits, this time I decided to just let the cards fall as they will...

But in any case, my point is that I will try to mix it up, to allow fast posters to sometimes do what they want, but also sometimes have to wait for more group consensus.

(I don't consider killing the kobolds an evil act, but I will consider blowing them up without any diplomacy or warning to be a little chaotic, so will give a slight kingdom alignment adjustment).

Hey Paul, you can start botting me with this fight.

You probably know the drill, I mostly use the spear unless some interesting chance to entangle happens, or throw javelins if I need to stay at distance. And I'll send Pyg in to attack...he's not too worried about OoA since he's armored up.

I've also got magic fang (horn) ready to roll for Pygmy for any battle that I get worried about...especially if we are outnumbered.

I think everything is ready in the spreadsheet to copy and paste.

hey folks, glad to be back on dry land!

in the meantime, my brother manages to roll critical misses for me, and critical hits against me. sheesh.

glad to see we're all still alive. we seem to manage better with mobs than with single big baddies!

also, for future consideration, i have a level 0 stabilize spell, so in cases like Rai, I can at least get him not dying. (now, when it's me going down...)


Level 3! For HP, do your roll here. I will also roll for your character and you can take the better of the two rolls.
