Keolin's Crypt of the Everflame (Inactive)

This book assumes that this is the first adventure for all the PCs, and that they know this is their year to reclaim the fire from Kassen’s crypt. Each one should have some sort of tie to the town of Kassen and should be living in the town when the quest starts.

Crypt of the Everflame begins on the 4th of Neth, just as the winter winds are beginning to blow. This is the day, in the year 4535, when Ekat Kassen and his men set out from town to find Asar’s camp and deal with the mercenary. The characters are all informed that they are expected to travel light, carrying only what they absolutely need—weapons, armor, spellbooks, etc.—as rations and other generic equipment will be provided.

Let me know why you are in Kassen and what your tie is to this community.

Little bit tricky making this work with Zandu's existing background, but he grew up in Janderhoff, and then Varisia so nearby at least.

Zandu was raised by dwarves in Janderhoff as an orphan, Guaril Karela, Zandu's current mentor wants something from the town and has found/manufactured/bribed the right people and found records linking Zandu's family to Kassen.

Zandu has been here for almost a year now becoming a part of the town. He doesn't know what Guaril wants from him or the town, but that doesn't matter to Zandu, although doubt is beginning to creep in.

Is it plausible that there are Garundi living in Kassen? If so, Nyroba could be a native of the town. (She's an aasimar but was born to Garundi human parents.

I took the easy way out, I admit. Used the "wandering schlub" pretext.

It's usually a little tough connecting the modules and PFS.

True. It's a fantasy setting, but it does need a bit of story-logic.

I think PCs have a bit more leeway in that regard.

OK, then, Nyroba is the daughter of a pair of retired Pathfinders who were originally from who have settled in Kessen after finding it a pleasant community during their travels.

She looks like a fairly normal Garundi, but her hair, which she pulls back in tightly-braided dreadlocks, and her eyes are golden.

That's cool.

I was a bit worried about that outage at first. Happened while I was logged in and next thing I know it's telling me my ID doesn't exist! Oh well, it was just temporary.

May as well take this as the opportunity to mention that this is Gen Con week. I'll be out of the picture from sometime on Wednesday until late Sunday or possibly Monday. Feel free to bot me as needed to keep things moving.

I have a baby coming within the next 3 weeks or so- if I drop off the face of the earth for a bit, know that I will be back and it probably just means my wife has gone into labor.

I agree, but its a matter of how you want to play the character. Since Tecolote is still relatively inexperienced, I'm playing it accordingly. Nothing wrong with the other approach either. You might have fought a bunch of undead in your youth and know the value of different sorts of weaponry.

I actually gave Bolonwr the Chain Fighter alternate racial trait and worked that into his story. It's appropriate for him to not use it, since he's also new to this adventuring lark.

Baby arrived on Friday and baby and mama are both doing well. I'll be back to normal posting within the next two weeks. Things are still a bit crazy.

Yup. Keolin has been running a pbp game for one of my other characters for over two years now, and although we're still on the first AP volume, he has been consistent with updates, although they are slower than most. If we're patient, I believe he'll come through for us.

It's ok with me. It isn't holding up any plans I have for Tecolote at the moment. His levels so far have been PbP and I don't have any plans to play him at the table yet.

He's probably busy with that "real life" stuff!

I'm going to try to get back up to every other day posting soon, but the newborn has been slowing me down and I'm organizing a local con this weekend which is taking more of my time than I thought it would.

I apologize for the delays.

Understood. I've got my own newborn coming later this month. When we started way back in July I had hoped to be done before it became an issue.

Sometime later October my posting is likely to become more erratic but I'll try and give a heads up.

Con is done. A lot of work but it seemed to go well.

Work remains busy; probably won't get better until after the new year. I will get updates in as I can and I appreciate your patience.I just was made VC as well for my area so that's cutting a bit of my free time too.

This will be a PbP Crypt of the Everflame module for PFS credit.This module is a 1-2 module so it is an evergreen with unlimited replay for 1st level characters. All characters must be PFS legal.

Gameplay will be on PbP with Roll20 used for mapping purposes.

I would like to start by on Saturday, July 11th (potentially sooner if we get enough applicants quickly enough). I want to run this with 4 players; any more and the module will get overrun.

Posting frequency should be every day.

Play by post games always take far longer than face to face. There are some things we will do differently to mitigate that as much as possible. Below are some general guidelines:

1. If you are declaring an action and you know what skill or game mechanic is used, go ahead and roll it at the same time as your post. Make sure that you label your roll so I know what it is for.

2. If a roll needs to be made and there isn't a decision for you to make, I will make the roll myself. This includes saves, perception checks as well as anything else you have forgotten to roll yourself. Waiting for players to make passive rolls slows things down too much.

3. If you are making an attack roll, make a damage roll at the same time. Don't make assumptions about whether you hit or not.

4. When real life happens and you can't post for a while, please let me know so we don't wait for you. If you don't post after 2 days and we are in a non-combat, non-critical situation, you just won't say/do anything and we will move on. If we are in a combat or other critical situation and you haven't posted after 2 days, I will declare an action on your behalf and move on.

5. Play by post is a medium that makes it easier to do deeper roleplaying. Feel free to include internal character thoughts in italics. Anything your character actually says should be in "bold text with quotes." Describe your action in detail, and when talking to NPCs feel free to ask more than one question at once. OOC (out of character) questions go to the discussion thread.

I am extremely interested in this as I have been waiting to get into a pathfinder society game. That being said I will try to have something up tonight. Currently thinking of going Cleric with the animal domain and focused on summoning.

Remarkably in all my PFS play I have never yet GMed or Played Crypt of the Everflame and would love to join you.

I will be out of town and busy over GenCon but generally post multiple times most weekdays and am good at giving notice when I'll be out of contact.

Roleplay: Sarainy Serias is a devout follower of Sarenrae who has her own guardian angel "Invictus" who stands by her side. Together they bring light to dark places and warm embrace to the downtrodden. If required the pair also cast down any evil which will not repent and see the error of their ways.
