According to the Craft Wand feat, you need to be a 5th level caster to make a wand. Shouldn't the wand of magic missiles be at caster level 5?

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

Nope; it's always assumed to be the minimum caster level required to cast the spell. You can MAKE one at 5th level, but that will dramatically increase the price.

Tanith can grapple the thing lowering it's AC a bit and giving everyone a turn to file in where there's more space but he's not going to survive another full attack.

The Gateway Grove, The Isle of Last Resort

By the way, apparently the main reason you can't take actions that involve more than one arm while grappled is:

Jason Bulmahn wrote:

As such, I'm not sure how this applies to something with three claws, but I'm asking around. Just didn't want to spring this on you after you already grappled the guy.

Oh, I'm aware that he'll be capable of full attacking Tanith. The big advantage would be disabling his ability to take AoOs letting everyone file into the room.

Offense-wise, the only characters grappling is effective against is folks with two-handed weapons and casters.

Female Kobold

At most, he'll only get a bite and two claw attacks. At least, it'll just be a bite and a claw. Small comfort, I know. :P

I'm shooting myself in the foot here but I'll be honest.

By RAW, he can fight at full effectiveness while grappled. Grappling does almost nothing to inhibit characters with natural attacks or TWFers. I'm a bit of an expert - I'm sure you've noticed, I have a few grapplers.

If you want to rule otherwise, I certainly won't complain. =)

If you're going to do something that depends on it failing a save I think grease would be better. If it landed, it'd break up its full attack for next turn.

In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.
Jason Bulmahn wrote:

Folks,

The RAW do allow the grappled to make a full attack action, assuming they can do so with only one hand. Since flurry does not require two hands to perform, a monk could flurry.

Grappling is not always the best idea. Grappling a monk is one such example. I think folks need to remember that the grappled condition is not as severe as it once was. You are no longer draped all over the target. It is more like you got a hold on them, typically an arm (hence the restriction). The pinned condition is more of your greco-roman wrestling hold.

Hope that clears it up..

Having read through the available evidence, this quote stuck out at me:

Kazaan wrote:
The two [in "two hands"] is not an accident or arbitrary number; it corresponds to the total number of arms a typical humanoid-shaped creature has. So you need to adjust for creatures with more than two arms not by appending "or more" but by adjusting the number itself; for a four-armed creature, it changes to "(four-armed) grappled creatures can take no action that requires four hands to perform." For the octopus, it goes to "...eight (hand-equivalents) to perform." And this reading covers all the bases; it works in the case of a standard two-armed character as well as any number of arms you can think of. It results in no absurdities and addresses all previously brought up absurdities. Therefore, it is the most reasonable way in which to interpret the passage.

Text block or no, this makes the most sense to me. The Ebon Aspect gets two claw attacks in a grapple.

I'm willing to give it a go. The only thing is that as an 'action bard', my spell DCs aren't awesome. I can blow my last AP to emulate spell focus and bump the DC up by 1, but are there any more efficient uses for that point? (Obscure feats I'm missing, etc...)

Female Kobold

Well, you could Heighten it, but that'd still only be a +1. You could also use this:

Quote:
You can spend 1 action point to double the increase to save DCs granted by the feat, from +1 to +2.

But that would require two APs, so no go.

I have to say, it's a really hard call what my next Versatile Performance choice should be. Diplomacy & Sense Motive would both be nice things to be maxed out on, but situations like this make me long for Acrobatics. (Although Fly is less essential at this, or possibly any, stage.)
