4-99 MAPS:

Knot Expedition:

In the very first circular room are 4 passageways. NE, E, SE, SW. You came from the NE this time. THe E leads back to the beginning (you think). The other two passages are sealed and you havn't been though.

Crux group:

Aaron and Aya one of you needs to open the door. So the question is, whose place are you heading to? You really have no idea what time it is. You only know it have been about 3 days since you entered.

The Exchange

Aya turns to Aaron and says, "I think my glaive can open one of the doors. Shall we head to the safe house? I think that is, for lack of a better word, the safest place to return to at this time."


Crux:
Dakaar looks at the southwest passage: "Lets get this over with, with that (wonderful ;p) b@~$@ around I don't want to idle around.

Does that ring of yours work enough to take a fall and open the door?"


Knot:
"Dakaar get ready to pull me in if needed. Wait in front of the door and see if it opens. Time for some fun!" Alcibades jumps into the whole. (wearing the ring of featherfall) If the ring seems to be working he will keep going for a while/until the door opens. If it doesn't it will try to grap the edge and call out for help from Dakaar.

The room seems clear, it contains the door you came through and another door to the South West. The SW door is sealed.

Aaron will immediately fish into his pouch and hand out the gold if this is agreed on.

The haversack is 1000gp, divded by 5 would be 200 gp each. Everyone would recieve a fifth if it was simply thrown into the 'pot', even Aaron. And a bit late I know, but I didn't catch that part before.


No I do not agree. You can take the haversack and i the bag of holding but if you want the haversack to be 'yours' I will only agree to sell my part for the full value not the half value. I would purchase the haversack at half value as well but i figured it would be better as a party assesst. If you would like to buy my share it is 400 gp. I would honestly prefer if it was a party assesst.

Aaron eyes Alcibades carefully wondering if the stress of the Knot is getting to him. "Agreed then, 200 gp for you each." Aaron takes a moment to count out the coins and hands the amounts to Alcibades, Aya, David and Dakaar. He turns to Aya and says, "And we should get out of here finally, good luck you three." With that he tosses the Rope of Climbing to Dakaar. "Don't loose that either. Shall we Aya?"


Since I haven't heard anything from the group recently. I shall assume the those left behind continue their exploration.
Alcibades uses the ring of feather falling to open the door to the southwest. The door to the north east closes. As you enter the next chamber you see that it too, has only one other exit and that exit is sealed. After walking the vertigo incuding staircases to make sure there are no surprises, Alcibades takes a dive again closes the door from the northeast and opening the other exit to the West. As you pass through the opening you find yourself in the hallway that leads to the crux sanctum, across the hall from the room with the 3 doors. What now gentlemen?


Now that this part of the area is mapped. I want to moves towards the Living Chains. Exploring new rooms as i pass them and continuing to map the area.

You make your way back 2 chambers.

It takes a few leaps but you manage to get the passage back towards the ball of chains open.
Then it takes another to open the passage that enters that room open. There is a 20 foot long hallway that opens into the room with the chain ball. What is you plan?


I tell dakaar to get out the magic rope... Command it to tie to me and then tie to dakaar and david. I then approact to just within in 30 feet from the changes and breath.

Due to angle of the hallway you can not get a clear shot from this side without entering the room. You do not hear anything besides the rattle of chains.

Your first breath doesn't seem to have any effect. The chain ball lashes back at you form 10 feet away,

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26, for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 and
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24, for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11.


I will go to somewhere that maintains line of site/ line of effect but as far away from the chain mass as possible (no more then say 25 feet). I beleive the corner of the room was farther away then the entrance. Provided i see a spot that it is at least 10 feet away from the chain i will move there and breath 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6) = 13. If i can't get there this round i will move in that direction and breath. I have taken damage from both hits.

Any movement other then back into the tunnel that leads to the knot will provoke and attack of opportunity.


Dakaar instructs alcibades to move to the way we initially encountered the chain ball, out of range of its attacks.


The group will go around to the other entrance (through the creatures threat area). Double moving if needed to get out of the chains reach. We will incur the attack of oppurtunity as appropriate.

The group does so. Only Alcibades gets attacked 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24, for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11. You are now on the other side, everyone has line of sight to the ball of chains and is out of reach.


Ok I breath on it 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4) = 11


If i damage it i breath on it until i die if not i just take a couple more tries:

Overall it is slow going. Some hits don't seem to do anything others slow damage the chains. Alcibades rests occasionally and after about a total of 40 minutes the chain ball is destroyed. As it falls into the hole there is a bright flare. A deep rumbling laugh Think Jabba the hut or Bowser echos throughout the chamber for a few seconds. The pit is now simply a hole about 30 feet deep. Nothing remains of the chain ball or the body that was within.

How about above where the chain ball was? Do any of the chains remain? Is there any knowledge or spellcraft check i could make to get more information?

A few bits and pieces remain dangling.

Spell-craft, Planes, and Arcana would be appropriate.


(I am 90 percent sure that the roles are plus 11 ... could be 12 ... but we will go with 11 and i will check if they should be one higher at home...

Arcana: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (3, 3, 5) + 11 = 22

Planes: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) + 11 = 23

Spell-craft: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) + 11 = 22

David you should role whatever is applicable.

You are not really certain what the ball was or what purpose it served. You are certain that the body held within was the remains of a Kyton which is a LE outsider that is typically found on the plan of shadow or in the 9 hells.


Is the Kyton's corpse there? If so how big is it?

No everything that was in the chain ball is gone, this is from your prior observation. It was about the size of a normal human being.


Well that was Uneventful. How about we find that lovely tiefling woman? Dakaar grins.


Sure if we can. Hey Dakaar, we are in agreement to kill her right? After some interrigation of course...


Summary:

Alcibades, Dakaar, and David finished up with the knot unable to remove the Darkwood but destroying the animated chains.

After leaving the knot Dakaar made off immediately and said he was on good terms with everyone but Aaron. He stated that he would kill Aaron the next time he sees him but also said he needed to cool off and that he would be in touch at some point. (Side not Dakaar did not take his share of the loot. Alcibades recommends holding at least most of it for some period of time and if Dakaar is not found / does not show up distributing it later. I will send out a sheet trying to resolve the previous loot and then a sheet with the new loot and try to resolve that.)

Aarel the introduced a new companion Krug his pet Roc. Krug is more good aligned then Dakaar and more cocky. (Krug and Alcibades had a bet on who would down more enemies and who would down the leaders of the group. Alcibades won the larger bet on the number downed, however, krug managed to finish the Alchemist... that leaves the lady outstanding.)

The group met back up and took a few days to sell goods / buy goods and gather information for there next job.

The next job is a side mission. It is to stop bandits that have been raiding caravans. They have been using alchemy when needed to anhilate the guards. This job came at a special request from Ceseli (sp?) and Aarael backed it.

Killing 12 minor hirelings and one Alchemist (expert) the group did not manage to kill the bandit leader who was a female Druid. After casting some very impresive spells she managed to run away.

Dakaar: 5827.3 gp (Alcibades will (as long as that is at value at not a half.) convert 5000 gp worth into very precious gems. and hold for Dakaar.)

Alcibades reads the books before selling.

"Magic Book" It is titled "Drowned Jabe and His Miserable Brothers and Sister. " It tells the tale of how a theif snuck into the knot, died there are returned to life as an undead. Is might be worth 50gp.

Ivory Box - You feel it is worth perhaps 1500gp, your sources say more in the neighborhood of 1000gp
"Andorean history book." You think 200gp your sources think you could get as much as 250gp for it.
Osirian travels is worth about 290gp, which your sources confirm.
3 volume set - You think you can get 450gp for it, though your sources wouldn't be surprised if you could get 500 with the right buyer.

Maybe we need to scope out more of the place? Set up some kind of ambush? Some traps? Anyone here know about trapmaking?

I'm ready and set to go set some traps or try some ambushes, but I'd like some feed back from everyone. What do you all recommend?

Shall I do some heal bursts? Are we planning on resting & spending the night aka, will I be re-started with the heals?

I would like to buy a vest of Permenanent "Ant Haul"..I beleive it should cost 2000 gp.

I suggest we don't rest the nigth just re equip and heal up but save as much other stuff as possible. We then go back and camp out the Druids lair. Best case we can capture here and see what her plan was. Maybe she is an enemy of the house of thrune and we can bring her over to our side. If not we can always turn her in. We should see if there is a reward on her head.

Lastly, is Aaron around? I think he would be useful on this mission and i am a little worried that he just didn't show up last time we met up. I know he has personal business he like to attend to but he doesn't usually just not show up.
