I assume the Giant Turtle on the medium creature list at level 4 is a mistake. RAW i would say you can use it as a medium creature. RAI i doubt you can.


It seems to me against RAW but not really a balance issue. I don't really think rods make sense but if you wanted to take something like extend spell and use a higher level extract slot i don't see a balance issue. If i was dming i would certainly allow it. I mean you could say the rod is instilling extra energy into the extract as you drink it ... still i don't see a balance issue, however, it seems to be against RAW.


Melee Alchemist 20 Point buy...
(I am playing a barbarian 1 alchemist out, however, i think this may have been the wrong decision. Another option is warrior 1 barbarian out this may be the better choice. I am playing a half orc for the bite. I think a human for the feat would be better.)

Heirloom weapon Great Sword (Consideration: If you want you take take the armor proficiencies and don't need to take the martial weapon cause you are proficient with your heirloom for free... if you lose your hierloom though it sucks)

Now there really are some decisions to make. We really want better armor proficency and we also really want martial weapon proficency. (However, do we need heavy armor right away? We can't afford at level 1 and it will costrict our dex bonus, however are goal is to get a 16 dex and mithrial play so we get are full +3 dex bonus. So if we want to go medium armor we can do barbarian 1. If we want heavy armor and an extra feat Warrior.)

So maybe we go
Alchemist 1: Vivesectionst (alternate class no bombs but sneak dice)
Feat: Extra Discovery - vestigial arm
Feat: Extra Discovery - vestigial arm

Ok well in my mind this is when the crazyness starts. I will let you build out the rest.

Attack W/Flank: Adds +2 to hit and +1d6 to each attack's damage
Attack w/mut str and power attack: MW Great Sword +10 2d6+12, 2 Claw +2 1d6+4,Bite +2 1d8+4
then consider flank and mut str and power attack

Just read through we be goblins. It looks like a ton of fun and a great introduction for new players. I had the same questions about the Alchemist and his formula book but decided to over look it in the interest of fun and burning things down.

I assume the artifact was found in the amber arc. Were the other items found there? (The hand, the defending weapon, etc)

DM OOC: Can you have David D magic on the items? He can then try to identify with just spell craft at +10 and with identify at +20 if you can make the roles.

To all, "How would you guys like to proceed? Would you like to continue to evaluate things here and do a final scrub down? I think that is a good idea.

I know Aaron want to track down the lizardfolk but i am not sure that is the first thing on the agenda.

I think we should report back to the pathfiner and Aarael. I would like to have a zone of truth up or someway to tell if the 'pathfinder' is genuine in our discussion.

David, have you documented all of are events dealing with the pathfinders and the lodge? I think if you want to become a pathfinder you should be able to make strong case if you have all the things we have done and found documented.

I also have on my agenda to split the things we found and do some purhcasing. I have a feeling we may be marked men while holding this artifact. I don't know if we should keep it out so it is usable or store it so it will be harded for people to detect that it is in our possession."

OOC: Jason and all I have most of the spreadsheet for treasure complete. I will try to post the appraisals/gather info for things i couldn't find the price of. If it is ok with you i would like to do the selling and loot distribution in parelellel with other stuff and assume it takes place sometime after we leave the lodge. Part of the reason i was waiting was for the stuff you may have missed but i will get what i have out soon and then combine other stuff later.

Do i have any idea if there is a way to end the haunt peacefully or if destruction is the only choice?

I try to get this out significantly before kragaar reaches the skeleton Bisby.

If Kragaar starts to get close to 'attacking' the skeleton I move up to get within 30 feet and ready and action to breath.

The I enter just inside the room. I toss/role one of the gems of continual flame towards (not at or to) just close to what we pressume to be Bisby. I hope this gives me a better look.

I use the scarab to detect golems.

I also give David the look to use d magaic.

After detecting golems i will give the scarab of golem bane to Kragar. "Perhaps you should hold onto this for now."

"Does Bisby always stay down here?"


I will follow. What way is he going? The devil door or somewhere else? If we start to go into a new area let me know.

OOC rules:
You can use Bluff to pass hidden messages to another character without others understanding your true meaning. The DC of this check is 15 for simple messages and 20 for complex messages. If you are successful, the target automatically understands you, assuming you are speaking in a language that it understands. If your check fails by 5 or more, you deliver the wrong message. Other creatures that hear the message can decipher the message by succeeding at an opposed Sense Motive check against your Bluff result.

If don't sense anything suspicious... Like he is supporting the artifact doing what is currently doing... or he is hidding something ... I will tell him that i wish to stop the shadow beast from attacking west crown and will try to figure out to 'turn off' the ability of the artifact if it is truly the source of this mischief.

ooc... after going back a character sheet or two it looks like Alcibades wrote down the oath but John did not... I think we got it from when were using the candles and had to speak it once before...

I will take a 20 or 18 or whatever to search the desk for a button or mechanism to open the desk or get it to move. My modifier is +10. i will ask Khazrae to look with me an show her around as I search. I beleive her mod is 16.


I would like kragar to detect traps and then try to move the desk / open the seam.

I am not sure what his modifiers are.

I do a quick search around the room. I do not enter the summoning circle.... I assume that is different then just looking around if not don't worry about it ... Search 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) + 10 = 18

I then go near the next set of doors. I will detect gollems and make a perception check for sounds. 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 10 = 14

I have Karza out and ask here what she sees... generally Erniyes have 16 mod so Perception Karza 3d6 + 16 ⇒ (3, 2, 6) + 16 = 27. Or whatever you want to do for that plus True Seeing.

Are the glyphs a language or do they look more magical?

I catiously make my way towards the intersection and look both ways. I guess at this point it makes sense to ensure Aya is near the front in order to make use of her low light vision.

At the intersection..Perception: 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 3, 6) + 10 = 20


At the bottom of the stairs i detect golems. I also get out one of the continual light gems.


I start clearing the crap away from the cellar door. Once that is done i will proceed down. Once i get near the bottom i will look, listen, and then detect gollems.

I assume the first circle of protection Aya cast is still working (it is 10 min/level).

"Aya, before we go down I suggest you cast a circle of protection evil on yourself or david. That way the people that are in melee range can stay close to krug and the back ranks can stay near you or david. Then we should get moving encase there is a vampire."
